Iwant to customize my Sounds & Notifications but not install them to my device storage. I know I can dump them in Storage Card\My Documents. Can I put them in a subfolder though? I like being neat.

Anybody? It is very messy in my my docs folder.
Mine are in a folder called "My Ringtones" under "My Documents"
/Storage Card/My Documents/My Ringtones
I am pretty sure I didn't have to do anything special to make that work....
Not ringtones, but sounds and notifications.

All I did was . . .
Created a 'My Documents' folder
Created a 'My Ringtones' sub folder
Dropped *.wav files in the root of 'My Documents'
Dropped *.mp3 files in the root of 'My ringtones'
The end-result: I can choose the custom ring tones, as well as 'Sounds and Notifications' that I want.

is there a way or a program to play mp3 for ringtones but without copying the file to th file windows/rings?cheers
Ringo Mobile is one of them...
Mring is recomended. It's more reliable than Ringo.
thank you very much
you can just copy it in the documents
Why not just copy the files in the /my documents folder instead?
it also works if you put the file in /storage card/my documents/
yep, i find the above post to be the best, easiest and cheapest! solution. store ringtones in the root folder on your card
Maybe a weird question, but is it possible for me to add my own sounds to the list of sounds for alarm sounds etc? Its not a ringtone and cant find a folder in windows that will allow me to do it.
Yes -- you can do it. Just drop them into the root of the Windows directory. I believe they have to be .wav format in order for them to show up to use in the Sounds & Notifications menu.

Or on the storage card if you create a folder named "My Documents" But be sure that the folder is on the root of the MiniSD card.
I prefer this because it doesn't use your phone memory.

Hi,which folder should I put the mp3 files to make it available for using in the Alarm of WM 6.1? (I don't want to install G-alarm)
Thanks!

Thanks for your answer, I do the same as you say (copy the file.mp3/wmv to my documents on Internal Storage and /windows) but in notification, when I chose the song for alarm but I can't find it.
u nid to convert the file to .wav then put into the application data/sounds there
Use G-Alarm!!!
You should find it in this forum
WAV is too big. How come Smartphone edition can use mp3 files for alarm and PPC can't?
How to make HD2 detect ringtones in a folder "Ringtones" instead of "My Documents
Is there a way I can create another folder somewhere in the SD Card titled Ringtones"" and make the phone recognize the songs in that folder as ringtones instead of "My Documents"?

But that's located in the device folders..I was hoping to have my own folders in my SD Card. Is that possible?
you will kick yourself, but here goes.
in the root of your sd card create a folder called......... my ringtones
the down side is that the folder will be indexed by the music player.

*Starts Kicking Self* Thanks =)
hehe, no worries. I think there is a way to stoip folders being indexed, i've just never bothered to look into it yet. Im sure there are threads about it.
I've been searching around and have round a few Ringtone directories in the G3. However:
1. I am not having much success when I copy over a .mr4 (ringtone) file, as when I pull up a contact, to connect my ringtone to it, they do not show in the list, even after a reboot. But I am able to use mp3's from the music directory, also
2. when I pull up the contact, to edit/change the ringtone, G3 will bring up the 'stock' directory for LG ringtones (where the heck is that located as I can't find that particular directory), and if I choose the + sign to select my own ringtone,
3. it will only take me to the music directory, so I can not navigate to find my uploaded ringtones...
Any help is appreciated.
Default is system/media/audio. In there are 4 more folders, ringtones, alarms, notifications & ui.
Also in the root of internal sdcard there are the same 4 named folders where new ringtones, alarms, ui and notification sounds can be copied to.

Thanks. Any idea on why when I try and select a custom ringtone, the only directory which comes up is the music director (which is on my SC card)?
I can not find a way to 'search' or go to a different directory.

All the ringtones I've copied to the "Ringtones" directory on the internal SD card show up when I try to change a contact's ringtone. Are you sure an .m4r file is compatible? That's Apple's format for the iPhone. Try copying an mp3 file to that directory, and see if it shows up.
Here's a program which claims to convert m3r files to mp3 files: http://www.zamzar.com/convert/m4r-to-mp3/

You may easily create a folder named "Ringtones" in the internal flash, not microSD card, and copy all your custom ringtones there. The reason is if you eject your microSD card all your custom ringtones will be set back to default since folder of microSD will not be available
I don't know the .M4R thing but all phones can see .m4a format music and may use them as a ringtones

Internal flash and internal SD are the same thing.
