SMS/Email address drop down menu - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi guys,
I'm experiencing a problem when creating an e-mail or text message.
It used to be when creating a text message, I typed in the first letter of the recipient, WM came with a drop down list of matching recipents.
This list isn't popping up anymore.
Is there a register edit or something that can fix this?
I tried searching te forum but it was without any succes.
Thx,
B1OO

Using the PCM keyboard I have this problem too. It shows the list when entering one more character and deleting it again by pressing backspace.

New Text Messages Corruption

Hi, I was hoping someone can help me. Each time I create a new text message and select the 'To' field to select a contact, no contacts are visible. I then try to cancel the message the whole system freezes wih a blinking cursor in the middle of the screen. Has anyone else come accross this?

sms composing matching recipients drop down

Hi,
I installed a new ROM and am missing a little feature now. Unfortunately I don't know if it was some hack or tool I installed or something to enable with the ROM itself.
When I wrote a new SMS and entered a few letters, a list would drop down with matching recipients names (and only their GSM numbers), and I could select from there. This is gone now, I can just enter the name, and when I press "Send" I'm taken to a separate page of matching recipients with all their numbers...
How can I get that back?

SMS Mark as read option...

Hi there,
on my Trion PPC with WM5 I have tried to work out a way to mark an SMS as read, without opening the messaging app by the push of one hard key. So far I couldnt get it to work. Has anyone come across a way do it ?
Reason is, that on WM5 the message self displays for a while upon reciept, so no need to futher open the Messaging.
Greetings
Paddy
nice idea. i am also planning on adding this option for the application im creating.
any ideas?
upon receiving a notification, right soft button, and select 'save as read..'. Doesn't open the messaging apps, but not a 1 button solution.
The soft button way is obvious, but thats several clicks. Does anyone know how to assign a command under a short menu to a button ?
A One touch solution is what we need, its so anoying having to do so many steps each time you get the new sms pop up.
Greetings
Paddy
I would do it like noted above.. Add a button to the menu's of the notification .. and let it invoke a dll or application which uses MAPI functions to mark the sms as read.

Possible to change text message softkey?

This is probably an extremely easy fix... but before I get flamed, I would just like to make it known that I spent 20 minutes searching and googling on how to fix this problem, to no avail.
My problem is when I am sending a new text message. When my HTC TyTN was running it's original ROM, the left softkey in the "Text Messages" folder would create a New text message. After updating to XDA Live v0.10, the left softkey now Deletes text messages. I now can only create a new text message by going to Menu (the right softkey) --> New, which I find rather cumbersome. Is there any way to change the left softkey's function?
(Sorry if this post didn't make a whole lot of sense, it's late and I've been messing around with xda live all night..)
In my case I use vijays tool VJSMS.exe (http://vijay555.com/?Releases:VJPhoneTools) as a quick link to SMS/TEXT writing.
VJSMS.exe ""
as a link will open up an empty SMS. The link can be made with Resco Exlorer or orher file tools.

Contact Drop Down in SMS

Shouldn't there be a contact drop down in the "TO:" line when composing an SMS - I don't see one and I'm accustomed to it being there.
This also takes up the character count in the SMS field, same behavior is exhibbted in all message applications, i.e. outlook, windows live.
It seems that auto suggestion is disabled by XT9 - although turning off XT9 by turning off predictive text in settings does not correct this - thoughts?
This wouldnt help your situation. But i remember composing emails and that dam contact list would come up. It was so hard getting to the actualy subject line because if i would click down it would think im trying to select a contact on the contact list. Im happen it was dropped
When I begin typing a name in this field, I do have a drop down list of contacts...
I am not using T9.
You can still type your contact's name directly from the homescreen, and then select "sms" by rolling the trackball left-right.

Click to collapse
i have the same problem.
When composing a new sms or email on my other wm5 ppc, typing the first few characters of a contact's name would call up a list but this just doesn't happen in my htc snap.
anyone have a solution?
