I had a problem with my Mogul, so I sent it to repair, meanwhile I switched back to my old phone Samsung SPH-A940 or sometimes it is called MM-940, I know it is not a Windows Mobile phone, but back in the days I had purchased like more than 20 games and applications that runs on the the phone which I think runs on Java, my question is:
Is there any way to extract these games so I can try them on my Mogul when I get it back? Or there is no need to bother they will not work!
I downloaded the driver from Samsung web site and I do not see the phone or any indication that it is connected to my PC except the sound of a new hardware being connected and disconnected!!!
I tried to send them using blue tooth but the phone does not give me the option of doing that!!
I am guessing that they might work sice the mogul has Java installed!!
any ideas?

can you help please, i have got programon on my laptop which I need to run on my XDAII how can i convert it to pocket pc 2003 so i only need to take my XDAII with me in the week. ps im new to all this but i will try, thanks guys for all your help. plus guys i have got the new blue tooth up grade from o2 but i dont know how to install the files cheers.
what program is it?
Regularly you can't just "convert" to pocket Pc. but there is problably an equivalent to the program that you need.
This is the problem with pocket PC, its to far between PC and PPC, if there is a similar program for pocket PC it will most likely be crap like Pocket word is to the PC word, just as one eg. I love my i-mate and enjoy it every day but it doesn't do much more than my old iPAQ 3600 other than the phone bit but I could have just bought the phone jacket and I would have had the same, just alittle fatter. Its always the same with Microsoft, they have the market so the choice is Microsoft or some other brand that you can't get any where as many programs for. So Microsoft just stretch everything out as long as they can before they actually try to give us something new. We get upgrades and service packs that sometimes make the phone worse. You have to constantly reset. Nokia should get off there arse and release the 9500, but as usual Nokia will release it when it is no longer wanted and technology has surpassed it. Like there 9210i for $1600 in Australia, if Grandma was still alive she would be ashamed of nokia. Sorry Guys and Girls I think I should go to bed now.
Have you thought about using terminal services to connect to your PC remotely? While 98 doesn't support it, XPPro allows you to bring your desktop to your XDA via Terminal Services over GPRS, and it works quite well for short periods. XPPro is also a much better OS.
A screen driver such as Nyditot virtual display can help by simulating a 480x360 resolution nicely (OK it's a bit difficult to read at times, but usually legible).
There's also VNC, which I haven't tried recetly (or rather ever on the XDA), but I beleive is similar (and free), although it wasn't very efficient bandwidth-wise last time I tried it.
To do a native port, you'd need access to the sourcecode, lots of programming experience, and a large chunk of time.
This is more than one subject just saves me posting twice.
1. Bluetooth - Ok i know how to use bluetooth, but what im asking for is some help to find a program to use that can "explore" other devices, im sure my brother had this on and old pda! I also had a program called Bloover2, made by trifinite.org that attack other phones and suck information off hence Bloover - Bluetooth Hoover. Anyway its a J2ME program that works on my Nokia Series60, i cant find any sort of software anywhere that is any where near close to this sort of programs for O2 XDA MINI S or even any PPC.
2. Activesync - ok when i connect my phone it is connected straight away ( connected by USB ), but it says Revieving Settings or something like that, anyways it stay like that for ages but thats not what is bothering me, the problem i have is, i can download files from the DESKTOP computer onto my Xda Mini using the explore funtion on active sync, but i can download files off the Xda Mini to the DESKTOP it says transfering but does nothing! I have used the search function and used the AND inbetween words and its crap, (sorry to who made it) but i dont find anything relating to the search.
Anyway if anyone canmaybe shed some light on any of these matter i would be grateful
Thanks
i have the same problem.

You can try Smurf. It works with older WM Smartphones but it might work with the Wizard since they both use Microsoft's Bluetooth Stack.

Are you connected directly to the desktop or through a USB Hub?
What OS are you using on your desktop?
Are you using a sofware Firewall and if so, did you enable ActiveSync as an exception?
Have you tried using Bluetooth ActiveSync
i gave up with the usb cable, im using infared for now till i manage to sort it out, that smurf program i found but it didnt work too well. thanks for your help tho
Hi all,
I have had my new HTC shift now for a week and a half. I have come to the conclusion that it is a V8 race car with four spark plugs removed, wheels replaced with those of a Morris Minor, and communications replaced with a Bakelite radio! (Apart from that it's brilliant)
When buying the shift I was slightly misled by the salesperson who sort of indicated that the SnapView side of the shift would be usable after it had been liberated. This is far from the truth.
I work with a government agency doing farm cropping experimentation work, I need my device to be able to communicate with multiple serial devices (such as data logging weather stations, electronic scales etc)
My Dell X50v did all that and much more (until my wife sat on it and broke the digitiser). I realise I can communicate to these devices using the PC side but there are times when I need the device to be connected for long periods running on battery only, and I had some very cool software that communicates extremely well and is very easy to use on the ppc side.
So here are some of my questions, (I have heaps lol, but this will do for a start)
1)Is there likely to be anyway we can have Windows Mobile communicate with anything? (Except its own Vista version or while Vista is running in the background)
2) I am running the latest versions of pocket office and ActiveSync or whatever you call it in Vista, however every time I try and save an Excel worksheet in WM6 I get the error message that tells me formatting will be lost and gives me the option to "save as". Every time I reopen the newly saved worksheet in Vista and re-save it then opened a gain in pocket Excel I get the same message again!. It's driving me nuts! They're all saved as Excel worksheets so they should work. Has anyone any ideas?
3) And finally just a quick question on the GPS. I have seen some post regarding the GPS in WM6, has this device got an inbuilt GPS? Will updating the ROM enable it?
3.) There are ROM's with GPS enabled, just have a look for them
2.) For me a Office install from CAB (cause my rom doesnt have office) did the Job
1.) windows Mobile can conenct to any internet address or what u like to connect it to ? You have your apps for your scales / serial stuff for windows mobile ?
Your serial stuff can be done with XP / Vista and a USB/Serial adapter
Greets
thank for the reply
with my old Axim i use a application called pocketDAQ It works so well and it relay data straight into pocket excell.
I guess I will just have to wait until some one get the usb or bluetooth working on the wm6 side
thanks
Got my HD in today and for some reason, I'm having a hell of a time setting up windows mobile device center.
When I install the software and plug in the HD, my laptop immediately tries to install the new hardware's driver.
It ends up installing something called "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter #5"
What is that? When I used to install the diamond, it would install the correct driver and when device center would load up, a picture of a diamond would show up.
Now, I get a generic phone.
Am I missing something?
Thanks guys,
Mark
Just a heads up so the mods can lock or delete this thread. It turns out that it's just a bad USB port.
I've got 3 ports on my laptop and the rest work fine. Doesn't matter what device I use, same problems.
That's wierd, just never had that happen before.
Mark
I'll be picking up the HD2 tomorrow morning. It'll be my first windows mobile phone. I only use a macbook (os x) and I was wondering if this would be a problem for having a wm device. Before it wasn't a problem for me since I primarily used android or iphone(s).
welcome omer1112
I normally use double twist for getting itunes data onto the phone with no problems and when I have serious work like flashing a new ROM I use virtual box running windows 7 in 32 bit, works a treat. My phone was imported from the UK therefore the euro plug does not work in australia without an adapter, however I discovered that my iPhone wall plug is the same spec as the original HTC charger and have been using that with no problems.
P.S. all apps mentioned are free.
there's a program for syncing other date. think it's called sync-mate. i purchased it as i wanted the other features but there is a lite version.
it runs a small program on the hd2 so you can run over wifi and BT but I have a feeling it kills battery life. recently had to do a hard reset on phone and never reinstalled the app. I used to get barely 18 hours on my phone but now get 2 days
