3G connection activate....help - Shift General

Hello my friends i was reading the threads but i didnt understand how to enable the 3g connection in vista side can someone explain me detailed?? i hope i dont ask a lot..........
Thank you all very much without you it would be empty the life.....

Simply insert your SIM card, boot vista and tell ShagControl / Comm-Manager to activate the Modem.

I found it easier to setup 3G in WinMo first...insert card, then went into settings (original SnapVue settings) and configured my operator manually as it wasn't listed. I'm in New Zealand and set it to UK Vodafone, then just changed the APN. At first I only got GPRS until I tunred off HSDPA, and then back on (after reset)....let it do it's own configuring and now it gets 3G and H on connection easy.
Once that was all done I left the 3G connection on in WinMo, I then booted Vista and it also found 3G and set itself up. I could find no manual intervention attributes on the Vista side but to be honest because it all worked reasonably painlesly I didn't look hard,,,,good luck

GPRS+NETWORK REGISTRATION+CALL MISSING PROBLEM

Hello there i got some probs here releted to GPRS, Network Registration and Call Missing...
They are odd and annoyning..so please read through the topic and if possble then gave me some feedback on how to solve the probs..
My Problems Are...
1) if i insert a sim into i-mate jam which is gprs anabled 4m the service provider...then it take 2-3 minute to show the network bar after a reset....but it doesnt happen if i insert a sim from same provider which gprs is deactivated.....
2)And sometimes i just do miss calles even i have full network but others called me and hear that the computer telling my cell is off or out of network covarage...and on that times if i want to do any network tasks like checking my credit by *566# then my jam hangs in phone menu for 1 min then show failed then reregister my network..this think is doing frequently..as a result i have to check that am i in hanged network or not if im on hanged network i cant receive or make call i have to do a reset to get rid of that probs..but again after some hour it came back again..(full network-but cant receive call or make call)..
3) and when the gprs activated sim is inserted and after 2-3 minuted when network bar and "G" icon came i cant log into gprs connection which shows a error "the answering modem is disconnected......tap setting" just after i select connect....even it didnt try to connect..means just it showed up instantly no trying as it happend in earlier farmware which was releted to caller id software... but i found a solution for it (My problem)...
the think i have to do is...go to start>setting>phone>network>network selection..then select manual...after a searching i select my network operator 4m drop down list...then after a minute or two i became again register to the network...then i again select automatic 4m the network list...this time the network search doesnt occure and now i can connect to gprs as usual..... (notes i need to do the same process everytime i reset the device otherwise i cant connect to gprs...and i have to complete the cycle..means after selecting manual and then 4m the availaval network list i register to my operator....but even this time it cant connect gprs...only after that process when i select automatic again then i can connect gprs)
all this think happen to those sim which have gprs connection...means "after inserting those sim the "G" icon appear"...the sim's which are not gprs activated "Means "G" icon doesnt appear after inserting the sim" is not affected by this problem....(for those sim the network bar came just after a reset no legged time..just normal..and call missing probs is not present..but i cant use gprs in a non activated sim!!!!...if i active gprs in that same sim by calling the service provider then the problem started to occure)
NOTES:
i have switched a number of sim 4m 2 provider.....for operator with EDGE support (My operator) has the problem in gprs activated sim..but not in gprs deactivated sim... and another operator which have old gprs only (no edge support) is not effected by this problem..means i can connect to gprs and network legging is not present..
i have done a number of hard reset.....
i tried it in a clean jam with no software..or ex rom installed...
i have intalled the latest firmware from here.... 1.13 and radio 1.13
even did tried it in older firmware 1.11 with various radio started 4m 1.01,1.06,1.11 and others
my network operator run on 900mhz frequency... (GrameenPhone-Bangladesh)
i was able to use the gprs as usual even a month earlier without any problem...it started recently 4m the day the regisrtation to network lag problem started....so im sure they are releted with each other...
i also tried changing the gprs slot 4m setting menu....
i have used the sim(s) in another jam i owened....there has no such problem... on that set everything works ok.
Other nokia or sonyerricson set is also working...so i dont think it is a network probs..
all the other pda funtinallity other then the phone portion works great...no probs atall there..so i guiss it has omething to do with radio portion..
and all gprs desabled sim works flawless in that set...
but nothing is helping me other then of the network selection method i mentioned earlier (first manual>then again automatic...)
now my question is what can i do???
1) to solve the network bar problem (means registration to network) which came after 2-3 minute after the reset...so i cant call within 4 minute after reset...cant even go to prone pad..it doesnt came before the network bar came...
2) why i cant connect to gprs without doing that nasty trick....i have mentioned earlier...
3)And is it a hardware fault or rom fault??or in somehow my operators fault as another operator sim works flawless..
PS:recently i montored that i can update firmware via activesync/pc as usual the i-mate's one or t-mobile one with noid..but if i tried to do update via SD card then the radio portion doesnt updates...
as an example i have 1.11,1.11 rom-radio combination installed..and i have a earlier backup of bigstorage rom of my jam with rom radio combination 1.13,1.13..but after doing the sd update only the rom portion did updated to 1.13 radio is still in 1.11...though i can updated it later on by pc using activesync..
and again with ntrw writer i did copied only the radio file (1.13) to my sd card (downloaded 4m ftp of the forum...the dumped sd card one not the nb1 file.)..but when i tried to update in bootloader mode it gave me a error called "section 1 error" and it doesnt start the flash..though the complete rom package did updates via bootloder but again radio portion didnt updated..
Anyways if anyone can enlighten me on how to solve that very stupid problems then i will be greatfull!!
Thanks

GPRS Setting with FIDO

I'm using Cingular 8525 (unlocked) in Canada with Fido sim, where can i change the GPRS setting on the phone? i don't see any place that can change it? thanks in advance!
look what I found when I googled Fido "GPRS Settings"
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/7418
In any case, Ross Barkman's page is the best for finding your telco settings.
http://www.taniwha.org.uk/gprs.html
To change your settings you have 3 options (I've included details instructions so follow them carefully):
Option 1.
1. Go the box the phone came in
2. Pull out the little book that says user manual
3. Open the book up
4. Read it.
Option 2.
1. Scroll to the top of this page
2. Click on XDA-Wiki
3. Go the Hermes Section
4. Read it.
5. Read it again, so you understand everything not just the GPRS problem.
Option 3 (and I'm gonna hear about this from pof).
1. Click Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Con... Argh, I can't sorry man... you're gonna have to pick 1 or 2.
Forgive me pof, I started feeling sorry for the newbie. I promise I won't do it again!
thanks! i already know what the setting is, but i'm just wondering that will Cingular allow me to change the GPRS settings?
If the phone is unlocked, there is nothing stopping you from changing anything on the phone. For all purposes Cingular is just a name written on your phone, Cingular the company has nothing to do with you anymore unless you have a cingular SIM in your phone.
Thanks for replied, the problme is, the Cingular stock rom doesn't have any icon that let me to change the GPRS setting! there should be a "Network Wizard" on Setting-->Connection , but there is non! when i click on GPRS setting, it only allowing me choose either "PAP authentication" or "CHAP authentication" . i have been playing the GPRS setting for a long time, but didn't get anyting, so should i flash to other rom? thanks in advance!
We are having the same problem
I have an 8125 running with a Movistar Mexico SIM and last Sunday I got its replacement: an 8525, I spent most of the Sunday (and the several days before) reading threads and doing all procedures to unlock it until I succeeded, so now I have an 8525 unlocked supre CID and all that ... "running" with the same SIM and same GPRS set up but I haven´t been able to navigate internet on GPRS (stalls in the "opening" status), I installed spb GPRS Monitor and the traffic is zero Kb on all tries that I´ve made to connect to the internet. I set also my Gmail account which is set up to retreive amails every 15min and although generates GPRS traffic the behavior is totally different as in my 8125. About MS Messenger and Hotmail the GPRS connection hasn´t been imposible. I´m a newbie I know it!! But you expert guys should help us at least with comments, I agree that some people make repeated questions because they don´t want to read, this is not our case, I´ve read a lot and I´m sure eeric di´d it too. PLEASE HELP....
Use this as a guide to putting in GPRS and MMS settings.

Substitute the settings for your network.

Thank you Bny! I do know how to make it and also set the proper strings in my case APN would be internet.movistar.mx and the user name & paswrord is movistar. That´s not really the problem, in fact I do know that I have a connection to my network, the problem is that something happen 8525 than doesn´t allow me to route my connections thru other routes but the one that Cingular has a preset. I really don´t know if is it the Ext ROM, my SIM card (not a 3G card) or the network itself since is not a 3G network !!!?
have any of you guys considered doing a hard reset and then soft reset before the 3 second customization? that way none of the cingular stuff gets installed?!?

I suppose there could be a number of reasons for this. But here is a consideration from my experience albeit on a different network. I entered all the details for my O2 connection as published on several different internet sites. Initially I could not get beyond "connecting" but found a minor error in what I had entered. Now I got as far as "Opening" but never actually open a site. I gave up but happened across a website that suggested that if you get that far i.e. "to opening" then perhaps the only fault would be the port number in proxy settings for HTTP. I checked and it was correctly set to "80". I did searches on the internet and found one that suggested port "8080" and it worked straight away. I only suggest that you check the port number and whether there are alternatives if you are getting as far as "opening".

Do you have Start>setings>connections>connections
Note two "connections" and if you do you get a page titled connections and Two headings 1. My ISP and 2. My Work Network

Thanks Mike and shogunmark! I´ll try the trick to avoid the customisation from Cingular; as far the port setting that´s a good point, however my screen for connection settings only shows 2 tabs: 1)Tasks and 2) Advanced, the 3rd tab (Proxy) that is present in my 8125 is missing in my 8525. Any ideas to make it appear or change the port? Thanks again you guys!
I did it, but it did not work.....
I just tried but it didn´t work either.... let´s see what´s next. Thank You!

I did what shogunmark suggested and it didn´t work either, I´m wondering waht would be the correct proxy server configuration, besides the port number I really don´t know the type of connection (http, wap, sec wap or scocks 4/5), neither the server name
I made the connection
I allways had the right "parameters" to set a proper connection, but I realized that the connection speed is extremely slow (5 Kbps at the most). I open another thread related to the use of a G3 device with a non G3 SIM / network. Thank you all for your help.

If you manage to make progress in improving connection speed, it would be useful to post a solution on this thread. Hope you succeed.

Cannot connect through gprs, 3g or HSPDA

Hi,
I have an X1 purchased in Taiwan, so i re-flashed it using Touch IT 5.05 with opera cooked in.....so i had it in English. I have set up the usual connection settings using the CHT (chungwha telecom - taiwan) but i still cannot connect to the internet. I get either a H or a 3G at the top suggesting it is connecting, but i cannot get anything to work.
I have spent over 2 hours with the guys at the telecoms offices and they can't do it either. Is there likely to be a problem with this Rom or is it something else?
I think i know all the operator settings. There is no username or password required, and all the server IP addresses should be set to automatic, including DNS (though i have read different on some sites suggest it should be 10.1.1.1 - - which doesn't work either)?
Should i flash back to a chinese rom and try that? Should it make any difference? Am i being really stupid and missing something? Is there another rom i can try that will allow me to get the data i pay for!
I have tried the sim card in an Iphone which connects ok, suggesting that the SIM card and stuff at their end is not at fault.
Any help would be hugely appreciated!!!

Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network

Hello, I dont post here often, especially not for help but I have tried everything. My old faithful G1 will not connect to AT&T anymore. I have had this issue for about a week now. I get this error message when I try to connect.
"Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
I have tried the following
I changed from GSM only to WCDMA preferred.
I Flashed a new rom, tried several from versions 1.6, 2.0, 2.2.
Flashed the radio and spl with the latest updates.
I tried different sim cards that I know work.
I double checked the APN.
I toggled wifi, GPS, bluetooth, airplane mode.
I Insert the sim card 100 different ways to see if the sim card was slightly off of its connectors.
I opened the phone to check all of the antenna connectors.
Probably more things but I cant remember.
One time when I was trying to get it to connect it said it connected but I was unable to make any phone calls or get data.
I called AT&T and they told me they couldnt help me so they sent me to HTC. HTC told me to send it in for repairs. It seems so many people have had the same issue but there is never a solution that works for me.
I am open to any advice at this point. If some of you managed to fix this problem let me know how you did it.
Apparently, you didn't bother trying the most obvious test... DOES THE SIMCARD WORK IN ANY OTHER PHONE?
If the answer is NO, then you need ATT to fix this problem.

but he did test "known good" SIM's in this phone. Which tells me he needs HTC to fix the phone.
I had the same problem, I could use my SIM in other phones, but not in the G1, a new SIM from tmo fixed it, go to an ATT kiosk/store and ask for a new SIM.

I have tried 3 other sim cards from other phones, one of them being only a few weeks old. I have yet to try a tmobile sim card though but I dont know anybody with any carrier other than att. So that is my next step..
If a sim card from tmobile doesnt work I think the radio might be dead.
try this:
1) Install adb on your mac or pc
2) connect your G1 through USB
3) reboot your phone (don't remove it from USB)
4) Wait and see if it acquires signal.
5) Stay connected to USB (for 15-20 minutes) and see whether you loose signal still or not...
6) Disconnect and check how long you hold the signal.
your apn is this right?
apn:wap.cingular
proxy blank
port blank
username:wap.cingulargps.com
password:CINGULAR1 must be in caps
server blank
mmsc:mmsc.cingular.com

[Q] no network coverage after installing wp7 on my hd2

just installed wp7 on my hd2 and after the start up my phone keeps searching for the network. have tried automatic network selection and tap to select but no luck. am using 2.15 radio. would appreciate any help.
goto your settings, scroll to cellular, then down to add apn, in the apn box type epc.tmobile.com and leave the rest blank.
this works with tmobile us
isn't that supposed to be only for the data connection? even without entering the apn the phone should be able to find the network for just making voice calls. so mine seems to be a different problem. the phone is simply unable to catch any signals.
from my understanding of the whole cell phone fiasco is the sim card has everything the phone needs to connect your providers tower and also tells your phone what services you have voice, data, etc etc, so it should setup voice automatically. i would try searching for the program (htc connection setup) they use to install the xml files it also sets your phone with the provider.
good luck.

Only search at the internet for your apn settings, enter them and voila you can use your data connection, nothing more nothing less and done in a minute. HTC Connection Setup don't work well but you have to use it later if you want to change phone type to HD7 for the Marketplace ^^)

yeah we covered that part, the concern is that the phone is/was not connecting to the towers
Maybe check out other Radio ROM. 2.15 should work well, but uses more battery.
switched back to winmo 6.5 for a while and the same radio worked fine (caught the signal etc.). Just now again tried to flash wp7 using 2 different radios, that is 2.12 and 2.14. Have already tried 2.15 with my first attempt, but the problem just remains the same.... 'no network found'. any thoughts? have even tried putting in the apn too. no luck
u know its funny cus its the exact same with mine exactley the same ive tried everything and it picks up the signals but it wont let me connect to any network at all... the phone is just fine except that one problem.. plz any body help us with this stupid problem

i was havin the same damn problem, and i just flashed the 2.11.50.26 radio, and boom baby!! instant network connection. no more 3 beeps and disconnection for me now to check battery life and wifi (no 3g in trinidad yet, so u can't test that)
sim lock...???
After trying different radios by flashing and re-flashing, I've noticed something I should mention. My phone dialer shows a sim icon with a lock on the top left of the screen. Does that shed a new light on things?
sim lock ???
hey sameer... I have the very same issue with my HTC HD2. It is unlocked and I am facing the very same issue that you are when I revert to WinMo 6.5 everything works fine with the same radio. I've tried almost every radio now and have no luck. However, the funny thing is that I do see the sim with a lock when I go to my dialer. I suspect the OS is SIM Locked, however, when in WinMo 6.5 every Sim Card is recognized and works properly
Any luck with the issue yet??
Let me know of your thoughts... btw I'm on Ufone's Network.
It's the sim card!
Problem solved for me and hopefully for salmanjavaid too!
I learnt it the harder way though, by which I mean that I spent money to buy an HD7 and after inserting my sim in my brand new HD7..... no signal again! oooops! Only then it occurred to me to try some other sim cards. My network is also Ufone here in Pakistan. So first I tried a Prepaid Ufone sim (the one with white and orange colour and 64K printed on the back)...and Lo and Behold my hd7 gets the signal and network settings and data connection works fine too! Other operators' sim cards like Telenor, Warid and Mobilink worked fine too. But when I insert the sim card which is in my use back again....no signals again! This sim card is a different version, perhaps not 64K and plain black color on the back.
A call to my Personal Customer Service Executive assigned by Ufone sets the next course of action. He'll bring a replacement sim card for me, when I get back home.
My suggestion to salmanjavaid: try other sim cards first. If they work then get a replacement sim card.
Hope it solves your problem too.
id give this a shot. I'm on vacations in Pakistan and have my Sim Card from O2. I will give it a shot tonight Thanks for the suggestion.
