I would rather think that you write your TXT message within messmo and it verifies if the recipient is a messmo user.
- If yes, then the TXT is sent as is free of charge
- If not the TXT will be sent via your own provider's SMS service and charged as usual
Sascha

correct ! ! you can exchange free sms between any messmo users in any coutry.
messmo uses gprs to send messages, so if the other person also has messmo, then they can exchange sms for free irrespective of their country.
so grab the software . . . make your messmo friend cirlce and start sending sms for free with an attachment ! !
isn't it coooool?

Nice software, well but where can i find freinds to use this software.

There is no restrictions on country area. You can send sms globally.Recently Messmo has launched new version with 2 new features- Voice message and Real MMS. Now you can send a voice message to your friends, no need to spend money on making calls. Really Messmo is the best for instant messaging in the world.

How do you send a contact through SMS?

Tried to search for the answers to no avail. In the contacts page, you can beam a contact to another person through irda or through bt. But another way is to send it through SMS like what most mobile phones do. Can someone point me in the right direction?
It's not possible. Unless you're using a nifty PIM software. Just copy and paste it.
tetragrammaton's right. There is no built-in way to do this.
I think there's a utility that allows you to send vCards floating around on the internet somewhere, though.
Best way is to just go to your contact, select the number, copy, and then paste it into your sms. Most (not-so-smart) phones will recognize the number automatically.
Have anyone noticed that the Windows Mobile Phone Edition just 'swallows' certain types of smses?
Nokia Business Cards and Picture Messages never reach me, and I also never get any indication that the phone ever encoutered them, either.

Thanks. Already downloaded and installed vCard and I confirmed that on wmobile phones, the vcard is dropped, meaning they don't receive it. They probably need to also be configured w/ vCard.
I've installed vCard and I have to say that it's a fantastic application. Now I can send vCard from my Xda IIs to any mobile phone supporting it. I've tried sending vCard from mobile phone to my IIs. It works smoothly.

Have you tried doing this w/ nokia or sonyericsson phones? Does it work both ways?
So far I've tried it only with Nokia 7710, 6100 and 3120. I can send vCard to those phones, as well as receive vCard from them. For SonyEricsson, I haven't conducted a test yet. But I think it should be the same.
Forgot to mention that I can also send vCard using my IIs to my own number (my IIs acts as the sender and recipient at the same time).

Thanks for the feedback.
I tried it on SonyEricsson T610, the result is a bit dissappointing. Sony can received my vCard and display it correctly, but my IIs received vCard as a plain SMS (not in normal vCard format).
I sent a VCard to a Nokia 6600 and it worked just great. I haven't tried it in request but I am thinking the same will happen as seen on a SE.
I've confirmed it workes ok with Nokia phones. Too bad about the sonyericsson flaw.
Thanks for all your inputs guys. This thread will certainly be useful for those who want vcard sending through sms.
I'm having error using the vcard. "vCard can't be sent (WapSend)."
Someone please advice.
Thanks
Try to check if your messaging is defaulted to SMS and not MMS.
how to check if the settings is at SMS instead of MMS?

Send sms to multiple contacts.
How To:
- type your message on the first box. if you want the name of your contact to appear in your message, just type in @@@ where you want the name to appear inside the message.
- add contacts in your list: Menu > Add Contact
- save your list for future uses: Menu > Save List
- load your list: Menu > Load List
- sending sms: Send menu will show SIM1 and SIM2 because this application was written for ACER DX900 dual sim phone but using it on a single sim WM device will also work.
- after pressing send, the application will hide itself, and will reshow itself after the task is done.
change log:
v1.2
- character counter for sms body
- repeat sending to multiple contacts
oldSAP SMSer v1.2 cab
v1.1
- added ability to PASTE in textbox
- multiple lists
oldSAP SMSer v1.1 cab
A Cup of Coffee would be nice
SMSer Homepage
Havent tryed it yet, but it looks pretty usefull.
One thing though: You do realize that the second phone number is still readable on your screenshot, right?
Oldsap: This program works great! I am using it on a HTC Touch Pro on the sprint network. After trying out a lot of sms programs I was truely impressed, thanks for sharing!
Your program is light, fast, does not send multiple text to the same person (like so many sms programs do)
I have three items on my wish list for future versions.
1) Enable the clipboard feature for copy/paste.
2) Have a Character counter
3) Be able to save/ load Multiple contact list.
PS. I am willing to donate to see this program improved.
1) Enable the clipboard feature for copy/paste.
- for the text box?
2) Have a Character counter
- sure
3) Be able to save/ load Multiple contact list.
- can do
handy, cheers.
oldsap,
Potentially highly useful.
However I think it lacks three options to make it the best SMS sending software available:
- Directly importing contact category(ies) such as GroupSMS.
- Automatically use the mobile phone number, no need to select a phone number for each contact.
- Being able to send SMS using the firstname only as sending an email to your friends with their lastname looks a bit too comemrcial oriented to me.
The_Steph
- Directly importing contact category(ies) such as GroupSMS.
- i didn't want to touch the contact details that's why i made a list
- Automatically use the mobile phone number, no need to select a phone number for each contact.
- some people, like me, save 2 or more mobile phone numbers for each contact that's why i added an option to be able to choose to which number you want to send the sms to
- Being able to send SMS using the firstname only as sending an email to your friends with their lastname looks a bit too comemrcial oriented to me.
- i can add that option
Very cool, thanks for sharing!

Thanks new version.
Brilliant
I had made alot of lists in text files and had to copy paste them manually to send messages to friends
Thanks alot oldsap
Hi, great work
But v1.2 delivers "unexpected error" at startup. Switched back to ver 1.
Will wait for future updates.
Thanks
thank for update
Thanks for thinking about option 3
For option 1 & 2, I'll try to manage it with lists

Request:
Send a single sms many times to many contact many times.

How many time(dialog box):10
Contacts:5 contacts

u see my sms display like this
when i send ppl my sms show as time...
but my friend one show date
i think this is y it went crezy for sorting
that's because it's now 13th and your sms are shown to be from 14th !! that's why they are below other messages.
Dunno why it's assuming they're sent on 14th though :-?
edit: maybe the person you're messaging has a wrong date on his/her device ?
edit 2: scratch that !! I didn't notice it's now 14th in singapore
No, the problem is, SIM Contacts' SMS'es ALWAYS goes to the bottom. Try hiding your sim contacts from the settings and you'd be fine
*Happened to me and I did that and worked
all send on the same day...
all send on the same day...
cannot be le.. when i send sms to myself also had this issue
when i send out sms it was display as timing... but receive only show date.

no it not diff day sms, it same day within min.
as i m testing e sms i notice my sms is not sort as time and date
there is a bit funny is
when i send out sms , i notice my sms which i send out my phone is display as time (12.00pm)
but when i receive ppl sms, my phone display display as date (14/12/2009)

SMS issues when data active?

I'm not 100% certain, but APNdroid widget pretty much saves me on this stupid and quite odd issue.
Every time I initiate a data connection my phone won't receive SMS's and when I disable data (using APNdroid) all my messages come in that I've "missed" during my data session.
What's the go with that?
Maybe someone re-produce. I tried it twice and I found the issue.
It is kind of weird the behaviour of the sms retrieval when I'm using a data connection. I'm quite certain that its still happening but I've had success at times too so it makes it unpredictable.
I see that no one has a similar problem so I may have a dud haha
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Odd. Sms don't use data access unless you use mms.
Maybe you are getting mms mixed up with sms? Also sounds like a network problem and not your phone
Sent from my Apple Newton 2100
Have asked the support from your carrier? I guess this is a problem with your provider. Maybe you can try a different device with Data connection to test it?
What i have noticed is that sometimes i cant recieve nor sms neither calls and I have full of signal.
I dont know if it has to do with my 3g internet connection wich is always on or with my provider.

Have you got SMS send enabled on your simcard/telco ? SMS recived is usually enabled but sometimes sms/caller id and mms is disabled at telco end.
SMS issues disappeared.
I haven't mixed mms and sms up but for that day I reproduced this issue a few times but I'm happy to say that its not happening anymore.

Group Messaging doesn't exist!

Just upgraded to the S5 from the S3. I used Handscent for a long time over the default messaging app. With Handscent I was able to use group messaging (mms) with users on android and iphones. With the S5, the default app will send a message out, but to each user individually.
Using Handscent, a text will be send to the group fine, but any replies will start new threads on my phone. Also, it will for some reason add my own number to the group text, so I am basically sending a text to myself.
In the end, I have multiple threads, 1 for replies, 1 for my sent message and 1 with my own phone number being added to the group.
In the default app, there doesn't seem to be any MMS options. Did Samsung really not think about this?
I am using stock messages and I have group chat but the people in my group all have the s5; we tried adding another friend who has the htc m7, idk if he opted out of it but he kept coming up as separate text for me even though he was receiving all of our text.

He probably has group chat disabled. On the HTC m7 group chat is disabled by default. I always forget to enable it when I flash a new Rom lol.

The application I'm using also works the same as yours. Maybe, it's just the way the application works or maybe it's not that compatible with Samsung. Coz even on my old S3, the SMS application works the same, so I think, that just how it works. But the stock SMS of Samsung, the group chat works fine and it will not create single thread when one on the group chat replied.
