Does GPRS data work in vista - Shift General

Hello, my network is Three(UK), my shift works fine when I get a 3G or HSDPA signal but doesn't seem to work on GPRS in vista (it just shows no network connection) yet in snapvue I can still sync with my exchange server over GPRS. Does GPRS data work in Vista?

Works fine for me on T-Mo UK on GPRS.

you must try to format your vista side..

I didn't think 3 supported full internet on GPRS...

it works on t-mobile....

It's been formatted many times, does anybody else use three uk?

3 have only 3g (umts/hsdpa), if you try to go in gprs it goes on roaming with others operators. is possible that on the settings of your shift is not enabled roaming.

I've unchecked the setting in vista that says to disable data connection when roaming and it hasn't made any difference. Are there any other settings I need to change?

Solved my GPRS re-connect problem

Many of you on this bb has a problem that GPRS doesn't re-connect and you have to reset or turn flight mode on/off to get connected again.
Here is what I did and mine has now been working for 3-4 weeks as it should be working. Shows to me that none of the software like Wisbar, Pocket Plus etc is causing it.
In SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS, under CONNECTIONS I have My ISP and My Work Network. Under both I used to have WAP, where it will use GPRS to connect. I have deleted the WAP GPRS option under My Work Network, to have nothing under Modem Connection, I only have WAP GPRS under My ISP in the Modem Connection.
Also, I used to have my work's settings in VPN, which I have also taken out. When I activesync via GPRS, my phone used to connect to the GPRS server and then tried to connect to VPN. After that I couldn't re-connect with GPRS.
After I have done the above, my phone now connects flawlessly everytime using the actievsync mobile schedule and when connecting manually.
O yes, I also run GB-Soft's GPRS tweak which can be found at http://www.GB-Soft.cz/XDAII
Well I was very sceptical about this. But I too deleted the WAP settings under Work and in the last month I haven't been unable to connect once.
So either this works or O2 have solved a problem with their network (I did not have the problem last winter in Singapore, Malaysia, or Australia iirc.)
The only other difference to my setup is that I now use Activesync 4.2 rather than 3.x
I am on Vodacom in South Africa, and what I have done above works for me. I only reboot my phone now to clear memory to free up some or when I need to run my GPS software, then I reboot to give it as much memory as possible.
I posted a solution that works for me, use, don't use it, up to you.
Hey, I was saying thanks - I believe it works

Sorry, my mistake, this part was confusing, as it looks like you couldn't connect.
Yes,
"I have always been able to connect first time" would have been a lot better than the double negative

Diff b/w TMobile and Cingular GPRS

Hi,
Is there a difference b/w the two GPRS networks? I'm having a problem with detecting the TMobile network while if I try Cingulars network it works fine. Is there something that needs to be done on the phone specifically for TMobile like a registry setting or something?
Thanks,
Ho'okani
where you're from?
did you create a gprs/3g connection with the t-mobile credentials???
I'm in the US (Hawai'i) and the settings for TMobile GPRS are correct it's just that the phone will not detect the TMobile network and doesn't even know it is available. There is no 'G' in the top task bar as there normally would be if it detected the network. The regular phone service works fine but for some reason, the phone just won't detect the GPRS network.

useing MDA as a modem?

anybody know how to do this? im going to my girlfriends house and im bringing my laptop and they dont have any wireless connections in the area so i wanted to connect my cell phone to my laptop n use the GPRS/EDGE to get internet on my laptop so any advice would be great!
Do a web search on 'MDA' and 'modem' AND 'the-name-of-your-provider' (mine is T-Mobile)
The steps for the first 2 terms are nearly the same, but the key is the settings that are specific to your provider.
i have tmobile as well
Just to let you know, on t-mobile you have to set up the same proxy in your web browser on your pc as the one you use on your phone when connecting (216.155.165.50 - HTTP) or it won't work. As for setting up connection sharing, if you're using WM6, just run internet sharing, if you're using WM5 though I can't help you cuz I never used it when I had WM5.

This is not necessary. Both my Firefox and IE are set to 'Direct connection to Internet'. No problems.

The proxy IS necessary for tethering using the $5.99 tmobile plan.
THe proxy IS NOT necessary for the "Total Internet" or Unlimited Internet plans.

Windows Live Messenger not working over 3G

Logs in fine when on wi-fi but whenever I try on 3G (on T-mobile UK) get the following messaget:
"There's a connectivity problem. Make sure you're in an area with good reception and try again."
Reception is fine with online browsing and everything else working through the 3G connection. On version 10.6.0042.1900 of Windows Live Messenger. Anyone else had this?
Do you have your data plan connection set up to use a proxy? I found that no matter what I did I could not receive mail or connect to msn over 3G if that setting was enabled.
Just go to Settings->Connections->Advanced->Select Networks->(select your connection under Internet)->Edit...->Proxy Settings
Here tick "This network connects to the Internet" and untick "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet".
That fixed my problem. Hope it helps

Maybe t-mobile blocking it? They do say you aren't supposed to use IM.

The WIFI without the GPRS (3g)

Hello,
I need some help about my htc hd.
I want to ensure that, then i connected to internet via WIFI, my GPRS (3g) is not connected.
How can i disable the 3g GPRS connection, and enable WIFI only
Thanks a lot!!!
No Data will allow you to stop data connection.
so now if i closed my Orange network, the WIFI should work?
It is still doesnt work, do you have any idea how to configure it?

Course it will there seperate
All you do is block Orange connection when you want and unblock when needed
This program doesn't help me , because even i close it the GPRS still work.
But than i take the SIM from the phone, or turn off the phone feature, the internet connection is unavailable.
I think that all problem that was in some topics about the WIFI speed , is because of they used the GPRS internet and not the WIFI.
So , there some more complexive problem with internet WIFI in HTC HD.
Just try to take out the SIM and than surf in internet with WIFI? There is no way!!!!!
the connection icons on the top of the screen clearly show which data connection is active
the manual describe the meaning of all the top screen icons
settings->connections->connections->advanced-select network
pick my home network or whatever the non isp connection is named on your phone
and all data connections when there is no wifi or activesync connections to get free network from will fail with an error == you will never get a grps connection again
before you turn it back to my isp or what it's named on your device
