system_sr.cab? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi,
Can anyone tell me where I might find a copy of system_sr.cab file?
Am getting the below error -
"An error message cannot be displayed because an optional resource assembly containing it cannot be found"
All the forums and web pages I can find point to this cab file as a fix to the problem which relates to issues with either the SQLCE or .NET2 cab file required to run a 3rd party piece of software.
Get the error when trying to connect to a Vodafone corporate APN.
Cheers,
Paul.

CAB file help - "Installation unsuccessful" on HTC

Hello all,
Attached is a simple CAB file that should have set the PIE user-agent stuff to be identifying the thing as IE6. I think there may be others around, I know I've seen it in a larger cab, so don't worry about this specific function. My question is regarding the fact that when I try to run it on my HTC Wizard (running WM5), I get "Installation of PIE_as_IE6.cab was unsuccessful".
I built the CAB off of the "CAB Template.cab" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=113615#113615 - just in case I'd run into that version issue with WM5.
Any thoughts out there on what's wrong with the CAB? Or is there a different reason it won't install?
Hi, what CSP are you using to change those settings and how are you deploying it to the device? Chances are access to that provider is restricted to a higher security role than what the cab file has permissions to do. RAPI still has access to most service providers by default but if you're downloading the cab over the air to the device it'll probably need to be signed with a suitable certificate before it's allowed to make setting changes. Mobile 5.0 security has been beefed up and its now a bit of a mission to do what was reasonable simple to do on 2003. All cpf files need to be signed if not deployed over RAPI as well, for even something trivial like adding a browser favourite.
editor is OCP Software's WinCe Cab Manager (version: 1.1)
deploy method is copy over USB cable by ActiveSync through Total Commander+WinCe Device access plugin. Execution of CAB is on the device itself through Total Commander CE or Explorer.
No CSP in use (err.. afaik).
You may be right that the part of the registry in question may simply be unavailable to access without special signing. I'll have to dig for those keywords a bit.
Yeah...the more I research Mobile 5.0 security the steeper it gets. It seems security permissions extend all the way to file IO access. Writing certain recognized system files (like theme files) without adequit permissions effectively renders those files as untrusted and they stop behaving in their expected manner. Its a pain.

8125 omap clock problems

I have been looking for the omap clock program for the 8125 and have found a couple downloads but the files once downloaded don't work. When I try to open the file I get an error message saying the file is not a valid win32 application. Any advice on how to get around this problem or another place to download the program? I really need this program for my phone, but I can't seem to find one that will open on my computer. Thanks for any help.
version .02
This works on my 8125 Cingular. should work on urs
Offcourse you get an error on your computer, cause it's a file for your Wizard.
You don't have to open on your computer, copy it to your device and run it.
Search on the forum how to make the overclocking permanent and start automatically after a wake up or soft-reset.

Certificate-issues when attempting to install on QTEK 9100

I've recieved a QTEK9100 (HTC Wizard) from my employer. The ROM-version is 2.18.7.4 NOR.
This unit seems to be application locked in some way.
Among other things, I have tried to install two different sharewhare GPS-programs on this unit (PTGMAP and OZIExplorer). When installing or running the .exe files i get error messages like:
- "Cannot open the file PTGMAP. It either lacks a signed certificate or cannot find one of the components" (my translation).
- ".. can not be installed because it does not have a digitally signed certificate" (also my translation)
- or simply "cannot be installed"
I've searched this forum and quite a few others, but I have not been able to find a solution. I've found some .cab files, but these have been for other units that the QTEK 9100/HTC Wizard. I was even able to install this one, but it seems to have made no difference:
ftp://[email protected]/Universal/Extended_ROMs/Default_Signed_DisableSecurity.CAB
(I do realise this is for another unit)
I've also tried SignCode - It's says that the executable is certified, but I still get the same error message when I try to run the programe.
Finally, because my ROM has been configured (by an external supplier) with Pylon Anywhere for syncronization, I guess I can't install another ROM, as I will lose this software which I need.
Can anyone help me here? --- Please!?! ---
Try this reg tweak
Disable the security warning when installing non-certified application
To disable the security warning when installing a non-certfied application, set:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\0000101a = 1 (DWORD decimal)
To restore the warnings:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\0000101a = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Registry editor
but... I've tried to install the registry wizard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39725&highlight=registrywizard
But I get the same error-message "cannot install RegistryWizard_PPC_ARMV4.cab"..
Any ideas?
Copy this exe to your device via activesync and click on file through file explorer. It is a registry editor and go to those keys i described.
Still doesn't work
I've tried this in every possible way now:
- I've copied the file to my "mobile unit" in windows explorer with ActiveSync running.
- I've put the file in the file-sync and synced.
- I've copied the file to my storage-card using a card-reader.
... Everytime I try to run the file, I still get the message "Cannot open regedit_463. It is either not signed with a signed certificate and so on..."
I am considering a ROm-update, but if I install a new ROM, I'll lose all the syncronization software from my employer, right?
Any futher help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Click to collapse
Try the above file in main memory - take your storage card out and soft reset. Then click on the file again - sometimes it is a corrupt storage card that causes that error. Otherwise its some software thats caused this security error and you will need to hard reset or update rom. Yes you would have to reinstall all your software.

Certificate problem

Hi
Trying for around 24 hours solid now to get my citrix ica client running on the hd2, gets right to the point where it launches the desktop and then dumps me out with the following error:
SSL Error 61: You have not chosen to trust "UTN-USERFirst-Hardware", the issuer of the server's security certificate.
Driving me mad. Really mad. Googled loads, tried importing the certificate after downloaded from web. Is there a cert manager in winmo6? Not even sure this is the problem. Had it working fine on the old Athena / Advantage.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know if this can really help, but if you have a .cer file, then simply open it and winmo will install the certificate.
Also you can find installed certificates in Parameters > System > certificates

Certificate problem when trying to open various applications

I’ve searched, and whilst there are a few thread on similar themes, nothing quite seems to help me with the issue I’ve got.
When I try to open some applications I’ve installed, i get the error message “The file xxx cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file.”
Reinstalling the applications in question does not help.
I've read various threads saying you should change the security settings on your device by using a program on your desktop PC called Security Configuration Manager. That installs and opens fine, but won't connect to my device, which is recognised and connects just fine using Active Sync. i've tried this on two PCs i have, and neither recognises that the device is connected.
Other thread suggest altering certain registry settings. I've tried to do that from my PC using CeRegEditor, but I get the message "Access not allowed" when I try and save the changes i want to make.
Another thread suggests a program to create certificates, but I'm not at all sure about what this means or how to go about it, or even if it's going to solve the problems I'm encountering.
Surely there has to be some way of changing a setting somewhere, so that an application can be used without it having to have a valid/signed security certificate?
Can anyone help me please? Here's hoping...
Sorted...
The issue cleared itself - how strange!
