Hi,
since a few days I have an O2 XDA Mini S (G4, unlocked, latest O2 ROM) that I use with my Vodafone SIM card (prepaid, Germany). As the device now gives me the opportunity to use mobile Internet (not really an option with the mobile phone I used before), I would like to use another prepaid card too for GPRS/data connection from the German provider blau.de.
I do not use the phone or data options that much, so a service plan is not suitable for me, and for different reasons I would like to keep my Vodafone number and card and just have another card that I can use for internet connections.
So I looked for a dual SIM adapter, and as far as I have learned, there are two different types:
1. The "no-cut" type
Here you are just "connecting" two normal SIM cards with a flat cable and have to store the additional card somewhere in the space where the battery resides. Not a very good option for the Wizard, I think, as the battery compartment is small and does not provide enough space for this.
2. The "cut-out" type
Here you have to cut the two cards to a much smaller size (which does not matter, as the SIM chip itself is rather small and is not affected by cutting the plastic card) to attach them to an adapter that has the size of a normal SIM card.
Changing between the two cards is then done by switching the device off and on or - in some descriptions - by a new entry in the menu, that lets you choose the SIM card you want to use.
My question is if somebody already tried this? Does it work with the Wizard?
Any experiences are highly appreciated, thank you!.

Pardon my sense of humor.
I don't really believe this can work the way you suggest that it can work, speaking as a technology professional. The phone would have to have the hardware capability to read more than one SIM already built in, and just "glomming" one chip in on top of another would most likely result in the device not reading either one, and possibly frying them both.
I know that it is possible to have more than one phone number/account on a single SIM, perhaps you should explore this much safer and less likely destructive method for doing what you propose.
Yeah, and how would the phone know which to use? You say some sort of menu option, but Windows Mobile has no such support.
This may be your best bet...if it ever comes around...
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7146.html
Thanks for your answers.
To point this out: This "Dual SIM" option means to use one card OR the other, and switching between them is, like I wrote before, done by switching the device off and on (or a menue). E.g. switching on: Vodafone, turning off and on again, other card, and so on...does not sound like rocket science.
And if this works on an IPhone ->look here why should it not work on the wizard?
Maybe I will just give it a try.
do you know how to recognize digital and analog models?
Im looking for some adapter for my WIng, but i want only analog model, and i have no idea how to recognize it
Just to end this thread...
...I wanted to let you know: It works. By switching the Wizard (or only the phone part) on and off, I can change between Vodafone Germany and Blau.de (which uses the german E-Plus network). Very nice.

Well, obviously your knowledge about this was not so "professional", eh? Looks like I am not nuts...
@vetius
You should read my post again: I said "menu or switch on/off", and the latter works fine.
@makind
I looked for one which was explicitly described to work with the Wizard, and found it on a german Website called http://www.human-call.de . Bought it there.
Somewhere here in the board, there was another website mentioned, called http://www.freeyourmobile.com which is UK based, but obviously sells the same adapter. There it is called "2G & 3G New Power on off standard dual sim". This company also has an account here in the board AFAIK.

Hi;
I do know that the Cect P168 and P168+ which is a iphone clone (chinese manuf.) does support the duel sims. I just got one and although it is not the Iphone and I am still setting it up it is a pretty cool feature.

Well, it looks like I owe you some congratulations. Good luck.
Thanks. I´m happy it really works.
One thing to mention: Nearly all sellers of the adapters that provide a "menu switch" (which means nearly all of the adapters you can find e.g. at ebay.com) clearly stated that this will not work with the Wizard (few were unshure).
So, even you can get them dirt cheap (like <10 US$ incl. S&H) this 10 bucks will most likely will be lost money if you buy one of these for your Wizard.

i've posted here but don't seem to be getting any response so i thought i'd post here where everyone's on about Wizards
i'll go through the situation again in detail:
i recieved a prototype wizard that's been sitting around for a while.
i turned it on, and found HTC rom version 0.5something, but at this time there was no SIM in the unit and everything was working fine. so i decided to try an O2 rom in the unit, and downloaded the latest O2 XDA Mini S rom from their website, version 1.5.4.102 (comes up at 1.5.4.2 on the unit).
first time installing the new rom, the installation froze at 99%, while the PC said complete. so i tried again and all was good. when the unit restarted everything was fine, working and all, until i plugged in a SIM and i came up with the following screen

i've tried using machinagod's Lokiwiz02b, but unforunately it didn't work.
does anyone have any better ideas for me?
thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
Hi, sorry no one answered you before.
When using lokiwiz did you cid unlock the device i.e. supercid? If not try that it may work. Also try one of the Qtek roms, see if that makes a difference.
Shame you dont know if it worked with a sim before you flashed it. Prototype - not sure if that works with a sim or not.
i've tried both unlocking options using lokiwiz, both supercid and the regular unlock. however after lokiwiz has done it's magic, JUST before the command window auto-closes to do notice a line of text saying something like "object not found" or something similar to that. (two paragraphs suddenly appear and the window closes, rather hard to catch)would that be the issue? i just can't catch it everytime, and i apologise for pretty much completely forgetting how to use the command/dos system. should i open the cmd window first before running the .bat file to avoid it auto-closing? so i can see where there's possibly a problem?
also, i do have an idea that the device should work, as i have another prototype wizard from the same era working beautifully. i got that one a while ago though, so it hasn't been sitting around/in someone else's hands for so long.
i'll give the Qtek roms a try too, and maybe grab an iMate one on the way too.
thanks for your help mate  i truly appreciate it.
Sounds like there is a problem with lokiwiz, maybe it does not work or your prototype.
Did you try what machinegod suggested?
Q - I locked my device and now it shows only the SIMlock window
A - Get your phone showing the SIMlock window. Connect it via ActiveSync. Use the tool to unlock your phone.
Which sim are you trying to use with the device?, maybe worth trying different sim - to find out which operator the device is simlocked to. There are other sim unlock programs but you will prob have to pay. I would try another rom, and different sims. Cheers
did exactly as machinagod suggested:
plugged in SIM, which automatically gets SIM Lock window showing, and won't let you go anywhere else. guaranteed hook up with PC and activesync, then run lokiwiz bat file from PC. tried both unlock and supercid on two different PCs. unfortunately didn't work.
i've tried a few SIMs in the phone, 3 different SUNDAY (Hong Kong) SIMs that i'll most likely be using with the unit and an O2 Pay&Go SIM. neither worked. i have no idea where the SIM could possibly be locked to, manufactured in Taiwan, ended up in the UK, and now with me in Hong Kong. it could be anywhere.
i'm yet to try out the other branded ROMs so i'm not sure if that'll work.
i'll keep this space updated should i have any news.
thanks again for the attention mate.
I have the same problem now with my T-mobile MDA.Any other ideas how to solve this problem?

I had the same problem when I did my upgrade the first time. Freaked out. I searched these forums and read that if you use the unlocker at http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3000unlock.php it fixes it.
It stinks that it costs about $30 US but it works. I've had zero issues with any rom update now that I unlocked it on imei unlock. There may be a free way to do it but I don't know how. I know this works.
It is the second time I have used the service, I used it to unlock my smt5600 when I migrated my account from ATT to Cingular.

thanks for the input mate, but i'm quite reluctant to spend US$30 at this point in time for fixing the thing as its a 'spare' unit that i basically got to play with. even if i do unlock it i won't be using it
tell me tho mate if it doesn't get outta your way, did it happen when you used 'another providers' ROM? or did you stick with ROMs from the original service provider?
i'm in suspicion that changing to another provider's ROM copies over SIM/provider data that isn't what the lock in the unit wants, hence the screen saying "data crashes". if we hit the sweet spot with the right ROM then lokiwiz should be able to do it's magic.
i'm also keen on using an older version ROM to unlock before upgrading again.
i still haven't managed to get me hands on the unit, and HOPEFULLY will do so within the next two days. once i have any more news i will keep everyone updated.
Hi
As you probably are are aware of, there's been a number of different "multi-SIM" or "Dual-SIM" solutions through the years. Lately there's been problems with the 3G-SIMs that would not work properly with the various multi-SIM solutions.
I've found one that works for my two new 3G-SIMs.
This one is made in china and is very basic (which seems to be the key in finding a working solution with many 3G-SIMs/phones - basic). The shop linked to is Norwegian, but the text concerning this particular item is in English. Regardless, this spesific solution is made by several different brands, charging from 5 € upwards to about 60€. The difference being brands of course, and how advanced the built-in STK meny is. I have seen this particular one that I bought several other places on the net (I recognize the packaging/logo).
http://www.mytrendyphone.no/shop/universal-twin-sim-3337p.html
Basically what you do is you cut out the chips from the SIM-cards and insert them into a special SIM-card like device consisting of a very thin curcuit board and a small microchip. This one is about the size of a normal SIM-card and can be inserted into your Kaisers SIM-slot.

The Sim ToolKit Menu
As you can see, along with the network name (NetCom in my case on both SIMs) I've specified my numbers and they will automatically show up along with the network info. I.e. "YourOperator YourPhoneNumber".
How well this would work if you change networks (my two carriers both use the same data-settings, one being the owner, other leasing capacity) I'm unsure, but I suspect the phone will ask you to reboot if you want to have functioning data-connections.
Well thats it!
/Mac
but is very dificult cut correct the sims
So only one line will be active at a time? Like I can't receive a call on both lines and have it auto switch. I would only be able to receive calls on the respective active sim?
No, you can only have one number active at the same time. As far as I understand this is a limitation in the phones hardware (not the Kaiser spesifically) according to certain regulations etc. Having more lines to one number is something else, a service certain operators offer, must not be confused with active numbers.
You can set the STK to autojump back and forth between the numbers, but I find this feature pretty much useless. This Dual-SIM solution should tho work very well for swapping between lets say private and work numbers w/o having to change phone. Or, having a backup number in case your prepaid runs out etc.
I did not find it very difficult to cut out the chips from their original SIM-cards, a pair of schissors did this job nicely, as long as you use common sense and follow the guidelines included in the package.

Did you see the "Not for use with 3G (USIM) SIM cards".
3G compatible adapter are expensive ( 30-70 EUR ). Do you know where you can get one?
I don't know if I have a 3G or normal SIM.
My #1 number is from Telfort, when I connect to the web only gprs works.
My #2 numer is from Vodafone but it's a prepaid, but sometimes when I connect to the web G, 3G, H works.
SO I think I need one what supports 3G?

Its not an application per se, its like the SIM-card menu on your operators SIM. At least most operators have some kind of STK menu on their card with various functions. The menu on the dual SIM thingy is the same kind, only that it let you change active numbers. It will pop up automatically in your programs-menu when you insert the dual SIM and you don't need to install anything softwarewise.

Well I am able to enable 3G and use the SIMs for data and calls with the 3G/H up on the status bar and everything. I haven't tried video calls tho.
This is sort of something I tried to make clear in my first post...and also the reason this product is interesting...

Hello guys!
I have HTC p3400i . I searched whole forum but everywhere the wifi adapter is shown to compatible with p3400 not for p3400i
I just want to know which wifi card should I buy so that it will work on my HTC P3400i.
I want to use it in my home wifi also in my college wifi.
Is it possible? And where do I get it in India? for what prise and if I prefer ebay.com then will it cost me less?
I shall be highly obliged if I get help from you guys!
Waiting for reply!
Regards,
Adwait
P.S: The product specification mentioned at htc official website http://www.htc.com/sea/product/p3400i/specification.html shows "Expansion Slot:SDIO/MMC (Up to 4GB)" but on my product cover there is "Expansion Slot:SD™" only! that's why I am getting confused!
is my question wrong? or the support is no more available for gene? just wondering if anyone actually reading this or not. or tell me I asked in wrong section!
i am looking for the same thing.....n yes on my cover box, the same thing is written for EXPANSION SLOT: SD card
HI
There is a way to use WiFi on the HTC Gene.
You have to buy a wifi card, which fits into your memory card slot.
Yes, that means you can either use wifi or your memory card!
The WiFi card looks like this

It fits into the memory card slot and sticks out a little bit (longer than the normal card, possibly for antenna.
You also have to install the WiFi card driver onto your phone before you can use it.
I myself have used a Spectec wifi card in the past so I can tell you that it does work.

can you give me detailed info? I searched, there are lot of such cards but don't know which one to buy!
and how much storage that card provides? means I wanna download something, will it possible?
I guess the card by the company "SPECTEC" is your best option!
Code:
http://www.amazon.com/SPECTEC-Wireless-Networking-Connection-Notebooks/dp/B000BD9PBQ
http://www.spectec.com.tw/download/review/994-1.pdf
It does not have have any storage within it. If you want to plug in the card you must remove your memory card, insert the wifi card and use it. This will mean that you are restricted to only the phone memory.
So i would suggest storing the driver and your preferred browser on the phone memory!
Your best bet is to have a LITE ROM, one which gives you a decent amount of free space, like:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528892
Spectec Wifi Card problem
I have been using Spectec SDW820 wifi card for the last one year. It works well but when the phone is in standby mode and there is an incoming call, the phone hangs. While working also some times phone hangs. Things become normal once the card is taken out. Some times card does not work & it requires phone to be soft-resetted. I have used this card with original ROM, many cooked ROM but the behaviour of the card is the same.
Are you also having the similar problems?
It is written two many times that devices bought from Chinese sites have one IMEI and DualSim function works only in Chine. In the rest of the world (ie Europe) only one card is working.
Is that correct ? People that have purchased device from sites mentioned, can you please clarify where did you buy it, if DualSIM works and in which country ?
Lot of people are hesitantto buy the device with such a restriction, me included
China version is single sim outside of China.
International versions are dual sim with 2 IMEI numbers

Dear Colin, as I have just read in some other threads found here in xda, a lot of people insist that their devices are working fine with DualSim capability in Europe, although one IMEI is shown. Only remark is that they have no second IMEI and phone number of SIM registered in settings, with all other capabilities fully working

Hi guys
Same thing here I got mines which is from china and the dual sim works in france but I have not test the both line in the same time ex call the first line and then while the first is in use call the second one lol sorry for the headache
Rgds
i think theoratically if you are on two different networks it should work as the both the sims are with same IMEI and restrictions apply if One sim is without IMEI
I dont think if it is a different network the same IMEI should be conflict its however i dont know if there are some security measure on the network which protects same IMEI to be registered twice
The whole concep of have mandatory IMEI numbers is so that the phone using the sim card can be detected and the purpose is served
Should have been able to use a micro sd in the 2nd sim slot ala Huawei.
It works without any issue

Hey thanks for the screenshots.
From what I've found, since the Chinese variant has only 1 IMEI, it will not support dual-sim active, but should support dual-sim standby. I guess this means that you while you're on a call on sim 1, your sim 2 might not be reachable. Did it occur to you?
Re the 2 SIMS for Australia. I have an Amaysim (Optus) as mine main SIM and I threw in a Boost (Telstra) to see how it works. I can confirm it works fines. I can adjust the preferred SIM for calls and data but I received calls and texts from both at any time. I called one number whilst already on the phone on the other and it went to message bank as expected. Then reversed the process on the different numbers. All good. It shows as 2 IMEI numbers one for each SIM but it is the same number. It has the option to send texts or calls from either SIM. My main purpose was to use as both personal and work phone.
Hi,
I have the Chinese version (ONE A2001). I have one french and one spanish SIM cards. I can only make and receive calls and SMS on the SIM that I choose as the default cellular data SIM. Anybody having the same problem? I'd like to know if this is a problem on my phone or if it is the Chinese version.
Thanks
I am running EE and Three sims in the UK without any problems
Thanks Disk0360.
I'm wondering if the problem does not come from the providers.
My french sim is Free
My spanish sim is orange
I understand that the OP2 is 4G/2G.
Free does not have a 2G network and they go through....Orange in France.
So I have 2 sims trying to connect to Orange network with one IMEI only...
Hi,
FYI, just got the OP2 European version, and now dual sim works flawlessly!
On mine I can see Voda 4g on the network selections. Check the bands and see who supports the one plus 2
Wtf OP. Why on earth would you even do that, one IMEI for a dual sim phone?? I checked for the different bands that might be used and I was OK with sacrificing LTE for 3G when I am outside of China, but that they put one IMEI, who comes up with this??
does anyone realize that if your dual sim phone only have one imei will have the following issue:
--- if you use 2 sim card, and there are 2 people call your sim number at the same time, first one will connected will no problem, but the second sim will not, the caller will receive message that the "phone is offline" (that suck!)
but if you have 2 imei, the second caller will receive "busy message" not offline
So i can say that dual sim will have dual on...
Edit: see bottom for links to the pictures in order
I was one of the people that adopted the G4 Plus immediately after launch. I actually received my device on the 11th, and did nothing to it besides turn it on, charge, and start installing apps via WiFi. It was only when I tried to get it functioning as a *cellphone* that things became problematic.
I went to activate it on Verizon's network only to be met with this response.

So I tried activating it by inserting the SIM card while the device's WiFi is off. I was met with this message.
At this point I figured I'd best defer to the experts, so I walked to the local Verizon store where they informed me that the sim card that was in the phone wasn't compatible with their network, so they sold me a new one.(MicroSim, the phone came with a NanoSim+Adapter). I optimistically tried to plug it in and activate, to no avail. Trying to active by plugging the sim card in and doing it on the phone gave me this error message.
I was thoroughly frustrated at this point, and I tried activating online. This time, I was optimistic, because I actually made it a little further. It took the sim code, but when I tried to hit proceed...
I also tried activating by phone with both sim cards, and it failed both times.
Needless to say I'm fairly pissed off. I haven't rooted or otherwise messed with the phone in any way. I've called both Verizon and Motorola, and neither told me anything useful. Verizon took about 30 minutes to finally find someone that could tell me the problem was with my phone and not a problem with Verizon, and that I should contact Motorola. After contacting Motorola, I worked my way up the food chain at tech support only to be told they have no idea why it isn't working, and that they'd get back to me within 24 hours. They did call me back, once, but didn't tell me anything remotely useful. I *think* someone mentioned a full refund and a fedex box, though between a really noisy phone line and a very thick accent I'm not positive.
I'd like to actually use this phone, even if it means I have to have it replaced with another of the same model. After putting it through its paces in other areas, I love it. The phone just sucks at being a phone.
So I suppose my question is does anyone have any ideas about what may be wrong? Moreover, does anyone here actually have one of these running on Verizon in the United States? How'd you go about getting it running? Anything at all?
(Also, I apologize if this is in the wrong section. This is my first post)
Edit: Apparently the pictures didn't work. Here they are, in order. I also had to add the asterisks near https and ".com" because XDA forum wouldn't let me post outside links. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I'm using a US model of the G4 (not the Plus, but shouldn't make a difference) on Verizon fine, and can make calls over CDMA and LTE fine.
The issue you're having is definitely with Verizon's system. Verizon is often slow to add devices to their activation database. One way around that is if you already have an activated SIM card from a previous Verizon phone, you can just remove it from your old phone and pop it into the new phone. Based off the fourth picture, you're coming from a CDMA 3G-only device (Moto G 1st Gen), which didn't have a SIM card. So at this time, activating a new SIM card on a device that's not on the activation whitelist is the issue.
I'm guessing the Verizon store you went to is a "premium retailer", as Verizon corporate stores give SIM cards for free.
There are multiple avenues you can take to bypass this issue:
If you know someone who has a Verizon LTE phone with either a microSIM or nanoSIM slot, ask them if you can borrow their phone, remove their SIM card, go into a corporate Verizon store, ask them to activate that phone on your line (you may need to change plans), they'll give you a free SIM and insert into the phone (make sure they don't do anything else to it though), leave the store, remove your SIM and stick it into the G4, power on, and it should work. Then just insert the other person's SIM back into their phone and return it to them.
Another option varies by store, but is similar to the above. Instead of borrowing a phone, you might be able to convince an employee to activate the SIM in a store demo phone, and then move it to your G4 once it's activated.
If you're on Verizon Prepaid, you can just grab any cheapo Verizon Prepaid phone from walmart/similar, activate it on your account, and then move the SIM over to the G4.
Thanks!
I just wanted to pop in and say thanks. The guy at the Verizon store was nice enough to plug into a demo phone and activate the sim card that way. Worked like a charm.
