When I changed the theme from my MDA II from T-Mobile to Windows_Default and back to T-Mobile, I noticed two things:
- Start menu suddenly is transparent (see-thru)
- As the menu-items are in white text (and the underlying T-Mobile today screen is too), I can hardly read them anymore.
Any clue how to change the appearance of the start menu??
well when you make a skin you deside what picture you want on the background and on the startmenu if the same picture are chosen both places it will look as if the menu is transparent
you can use a skin maker to change the skin if you like
Thanks for the suggestions.
Maybe my question was unclear: I did not create any new skin. Just chose another Theme in Settings/Today and then changed it back.
Before I did this, the start menu was not transparent OR the menu items where in an different colour than white.
I just wanna be able to ga back to the original T-Mobile Theme

Click to collapse
I noticed this too, the T-Mobile theme initially has black font color in it's Start Menu, but after changing the theme, the Start Menu font color will stay white forever. And for some reason you cannot alter the start menu text color directly.
If I remember correctly, there ought to be a registry key where you can set the text color for Start Menu items, but I'm not sure...
the default start menu colour in 2003 is white
and the default start menu colour in 2002 is black
if the skin dont active change the startmenu colour it will be default
work around
1 change the skin so it makes the text colour different from default
2 use another skin

Here it will explain how to alter the registry so you can change the start menu text color to whatever color you fancy ^O^[/img]
Fixed it!!
Thanks for the solution.
I getting as handy in modifying the registry as I am on my laptop . . .
you probably have a background image now?
The way I choose my startmenu background color and/or image =
make a (small) bmp with only the color you want.
then open this bmp file with resco explorer.
when image is viewed press 'menu'.
and then press 'set as background'
At least works for me with my Touch Pro, it won't change the TouchFlo3d background, but it will change the Startmenu background.
To change the startmenu text color go into registry and edit the following:
HKLocalMachine -> Software -> Microsoft -> Color ->
Binary Value 39 = Startmenu Text Color
white = FF FF FF 00
Black = 50 50 50 00 (i think)
cheers
I was wondering how to disable displaying the program name on the taskbar - is there a registry tweak for this?
It's just a cosmetic thing, i would rather see the taskbar clean with just the icons and time instead of having the current running program's name on it.
Any solution?
Hi
I loaded WM6, which was really simple thanks to the details instructions on this site.
Now I loaded a Theme which I like, but it has an annoying background when I view my sms's/mail (Inbox area - not within the actual item) and my contacts. How can I get rid of it?
(I can't attach a pic because the file attachment function doesn't seem to work? )
This is the background I'm trying to get rid of?
You'll need some system color changing utility, like SKTools, or UITweaker. Look for items called something like:
"list color left 1", "list color left 2", "list color right 1", "list color right 2"
or
"left of a gradient listview", "left of a gradient listview (interlalced)", "right of a gradient listview", "right of a gradient listview (interlalced)"
And set both left and both right colors to be equal to each other - then you'll have no horizontal nines, or at least close - then you'll still have horizontal lines, but they won't be as visible.
Of go to WM5 color registry tweaks in XDA wiki and change the colors in registry by hand.

use themegence to change colour in TSK file..
Hello there,
I'm in need for 2 reg hacks for the today screen.
1) Remove vertical scrollbars for an item that's bigger then the screen
I found a thread couple months ago but flashed my touch and need this done again and can't find it now. I remember only 1 item could have this setting.
2) How to remove that 1px horizontal seperator line between home screen items
Thank You
Found it
Well the first thing, how to disable scrollbars for an home item.
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Plugin's Name"
Change Type from 4 to 5 to remove bars
Now I just need to know how to remove the 1px solid line separators between items.
Anyone?
I was wondering the same thing and did tons of searches to get rid of the lines. The only thing I ended up doing was installing tweakUI and making the lines the same color as my background (or close to it). If you find something let me know too.
Anyone know the registry keys to change the color of standard today font?
How can I remove icons, which are in the folder \\windows\start menu\setting ?
If I open this folder, I can't see any icons.
i would like to know it too
They are in the registry
HKCU\Control Panel
Look for the icon you want to remove and a hide=1 value
Can you be more precisely?
I can't find the values in HKCU\Control Panel
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel
