First of all I searched for this answer for hours and didn't find anything.
I installed Wisbar and it had an option so that whenever you held down the stylus over the clock on the task bar it would open "Clocks & Alarms," instead of showing the menu of Analog or Digital.
Basically I want to be able to do this without having to use Wisbar (I uninstalled it already, wasn't for me.) Can anyone help? A registry edit, replacing a file with a shortcut, I dunno something. It doesn't have to be the hold option, it could just be the single tap.
Thanks in advance!
Uuuhhhhh....enable the Date Plug-in on the Today Screen and tap it?
Thanks for the fast reply but I don't use the "Date" Today plug-in. I use the tweak that displays the date and time in the task bar.
If you want to make a link use my fix here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=57134&highlight=

Make a shortcut on your PDA using something like GSFinder and edit it to say:
Code:
"ctlpnl.exe" cplmain.cpl,16
Otherwise use notepad on your PC, and type:
Code:
27#"ctlpnl.exe" cplmain.cpl,16
Save it as clocks.lnk, copy onto your PDA and run it.

Do I copy clocks.lnk into a specific folder on my pda?
THank you very much vijay555
Edit: I put clocks.lnk into My Documents and nothing happened it just sent me to the start of file explorer. What does this exactly do?
you need to put it in /windows/start menu/ and then it will show up when u hit start.
gtdRR: apologies, I've edited the post above to clarify - if you're using gsfinder, then make the shortcut described, but if you're using Notepad to make the .lnk (which is the easiest way, copy and paste on your PC then sync it over to your PDA) then use the 27#.... method I've posted.
You can stick it anywhere, doesn't have to be in \windows\

Thanks once again vijay555, that will be very useful but I would still like to find out if the shortcut can be enabled like it was when I had WisBar. Through the clock on the taskbar.
THANKS FOR ALL THE FAST REPLIES!
I found another way to get to Clock & Alarms. Hold the action button on the D-Pad and then click and hold the clock in the task bar. With practice this can be done in 2 sec. When you let go a menu pops up and then you just choose Clock.

I don't use that program.
samans wm5newmenu can set clocks&alarms as an item under the left or right softkey, or buttons.

For the plugin names you have to modify the registry, in each one of the plugins under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/CHome.
For the Taskbar and the expanded Taskbar menu there are cabs with skins in the different forums, depending of the resolution of your device, just search for them.
Can i move the lock screen slider from the top to the bottom somehow?
And before teh "use s2u2" replies start, i have tried it but i just find it too bloated and i like the standard MS lock screen. I just want to move the slider to the bottom of the screen.
Thanks
EDIT: See my last post for my lockscreen file and howto.
So...
So how'd you move the slider to the bottom? I can't belive it's placed at the top originally, it's a bit of a reach and doesn't exactly increase comfort on this huge device.
try to change <Text ID="TapOrSlide" ... > and <Text ID="SlideToUnlock" ...>

There's a CAB here to move the slider to the bottom of the screen here
http://www.cabcache.com/cabs.asp?cab=22
makes a lot more sense having the slider lower down the screen. at the top of the screen you need spindly super thumbs.
having just tried the cab to move the slider down i didnt like where it put it so i uninstalled it and now i have no slide to unlock screen at all! i just get the left softkey saying unlock and that takes you to the grey screen with another unlock button which is the old windows style i think... how can i get it back?
THe way i moved the slider down was to copy
LS_LockScene_480x800.cpr
from \windows\lockscreen
to the SD card. I then edited that on my my pc to change the "top" setting to 450
<Form Width="480" Height="800">
<LS_LockScene ID="Scene">
<Slider ID="LockSlider" Top="450" .............
This places the slider just above the appointments when you have them. Copy the file back into \windows\lockscreen and soft reset.
I will play with the text parameters mentioned above and see if i can get them to move down as well.
EDIT: Sorted thanks, got the text at the right place as well now!!
Ive attached my settings file if anyone wants to give it a try. You will just have to rename the extension from .txt to .cpr then copy it to your \windows\lockscreen folder. (Clearly might be worth making a backup first of your original file incase you want to move the slider back).
Thanks for the good idea
Here are the aditional changes based on your post I made for moving some text in the lock screen:
in the same file LS_LockScene_480x800.cpr
find: <Text ID="SlideToUnlock" Top="90"
and replace "90" with "530"
This will move the text "slide" under the button.
find: <Text ID="TapOrSlide" Top="90"
and replace "90" with "530"
This will move the text "tap or slide" (appears when you have missed calls) under the button.
There is only one thing to move down - the icon for missed calls/sms. But at this time I like it at the top of the screen.
where do i access \windows\lockscreen

Use File Explorer or browse your phone from PC. If you browse from PC you must actvate "show hidden files and folders" on PC because dir "Windows" on HD2 is a hidden folder.

on the left are your program links, on the right, the start menu folders.
check one link on the left, check one folder on the right, then select 'move'.

Hello guys,
I got my N4 today, very pleased.
I dont think there is a way to PASTE your smart clips. I see a way to share them and to add them to a scrapbook, but not paste.
I was sure I saw something like that in some demo?
The manual does not mention if/how that can be done,
Any success with that out there?

Hi
Thanks for the response, but there is no such option to Copy to Clipboard.
If there is no option search playstore ...there was an app that forced copy to clipboard to be an option...especially useful for YouTube.

Hi
yeah, I did that before I posted here.
The clipboard paste apps I found there are about COPYING multiple items to that clipboard, but which does not tie in with Smart Select - so you can't copy smart selected elements to those apps, only things which have the COPY contextual menu as an option, like when you select text and have a copy option.
Nothing I have found allows you to copy a "smart selection" set of items to the clipboard. In fact I don't know if this would make sense on an android system level... the "smart selection" may not use the android clipboard at all... so there may not be any solution unless Samsung makes it possible.

If you open a note and use the edit in s-note icon in the lower right-hand corner, you can just drag one or more items from the collection to the note.

Hi
Open a note?
What note?
I have some smart select items I want to paste into an email I am replying to.... and there is no "note" I am working on, and there is no icon anywhere to drag to that email I am replying to...
Seems this is how I would use it, and it does not work like that... you can create a new email but not add to a reply or add clips to an existing document.

If you don't want to save it to a note, but email instead, it still works the same. Save your selected item (s) to a collection using that little collections icon then open your new email message. If you have more than one item in the collection, tap on the down triangle at the bottom of the collection box, select the item you want to place in the email, and just drag it over. It will place the text in the spot you drag it to.
When you are done placing the text or image. You can drag the collection box towards the top of the screen and a trashcan appears. Drag it to the trashcan and it deletes the collection.

nope
that does not work.
try it.
try smart copy a couple of icons off your desktop and try paste that in gmail. I copied the phone icon, the message icon and app drawer icons as one image file, and when I drag and drop that to gmail, I get "[email protected]" instead of the image of the three icons!
This only works with TEXT but not with photos. Photos result in some gobbledygook nonsense word.
It works via drag n drop with the stock email app. With Gmail you need to use the share button and pick gmail. They will in both cases be sent as attachments to the email you send.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
It doesn't work on Gmail, only if you create a new message. If it's an existing message you're responding to, there is no way to use smart select.
It works as an attachment so you have to save the images first if you want to attach them in Gmail to a reply. I just tested it. I used Share>ES Save To to save the selection as a png to the download directory. (I have ES File Explorer so that shows up in the share list) Then open your Gmail item and attach it from there.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
Well adding attachments to Gmail is something any phone can do... As I am trying to point out, Smart Select cannot paste the contents to an existing gmail, you have to save it first, then attach manually from gmail... Not particularly fast, unique or convenient.
You have to add the attachments to gmail one at a time
The text "Smart Selections" are attached purely as images (no OCR)
So Smart Select is great for Evernote, Google Keep or Samsungs note taking apps, but not for existing Gmails! Saving to Drive also saves text smart selections as images instead of OCR text & images.
Mark.
Well I think Smart Select is a bit of a misnomer. It works by automating the process of saving the selections to png files so you can share them. That's just how it works.

the main part is multiple clipboard copying of BOTH images AND text simultaneously.
It also does OCR of text in images
SADLY with "copy to clipboard" missing as a sharing option, the inability to paste to any app that can paste images and text simultaneously, like gmail, is missing.
I've been trying to figure this out too. I have found a different way of selecting items into the clipboard. I use image clip instead of smart select. Then I hit the share button in the top right. And it automatically copies the item to the clipboard.
---------- Post added at 01:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:09 AM ----------
And from there, if you need it to be square there's an option to do so in the top left corner

Hmm
when I go to Share , and then choose none of the options and then go to Gmail and press to get contextual menu, there is no paste that comes up... so nothing gets copied into the clipboard. What steps did you take?
Even if it did, that would be one image at a time... which is ok, but not quite the nifty thing SmartSelect could be if it could copy all pix and text to clipboard!
