I have dcd 3.01 with the internet connection sharing. I have successfully used it to tether my PC. I was wondering is it possible to tether another WM 6 device to my mogul? How do I do it? Thanks for any help.
I'm not sure about tethering another wm device but you could probably use WMWifiRouter to setup one device (with data connection) as an access point then connect the 2nd one over wifi.

I recently purchased the program PDANET from June Fabrics Technology. Using this program, i can tether my laptop to my phone. The problem I run into is when I am tethered, I am unable to access any network shares in my domain. For example, \\Server\ShareDirectory.
I am using Windows Vista Pro and have searched the net and have not found anything than can help me resolve this problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
I guess my first question is: why are you using PDANET with a WM6 device? I just use internet connection sharing and it works great...
but maybe there is some restriction on yours that I don't have?

I tried the Internet connection sharing that is on the new DCD ROM and couldn't get it to work. It connected and appeared to be fine but I couldn't access any web pages. Also, when I use ICS, it disconnects my active sync. With PDANET, I can have both.
Unable to connect to any WAN
To update the issue, I am unable to connect to anything on the WAN. Anything on my local server connects fine.
Hi.
Is it possible to share the ActiveSync internet connection from the computer (on my Wizard WM6) over WiFi?
Basic scheme: Computer with internet access->ActiveSync to Wizard->Sharing the activesync internet connection on Wizard over WiFi.
Any ideas?
that feature i recall was removed from activesync at one point cant recall what version
it should however be possible to setup an adhoc network between the pda and the pc without using activesync to share internet to the pda
Yes, its possible, and does work. The thing is that I have two laptops, one with wifi, one without (lan network). Anyways, thanks for help.
I am wandering if there is a way to share my internet connetion between my alltel ppc 6800 with the new htc shift. I know how to link the phone with my laptop but I am currently looking at purchasing the shift to replace it and was wandering if the connection would work. If anyone has tried this please post.
P.S. the connection would be via bluetooth unless I converted the mini usb from the ppc 6800 to usb back to usb to plug into the shift. Thanks.
not sure if it could be done with BT, pretty sure it cant be done with USB (unless the shift can operate in host mode)
what should work is wifirouter (im sure the shift has wireless)
ok so how would i get the connection to work through a router? The only internet connection i have is through the ppc 6800.
nono, wifirouter is an app that you would run on your 6800, it essentially turns it into a wireless access point that other wifi enabled devices can use for internet access
where is the app available for download at?
Is that the only way it would work or could I configure the 6800 as a modem to connect?
ok I downloaded the app but still cant connect. I am trying the connection via my laptop and it stops at waiting for Internet connection sharing. is there some setting that needs to be changed or what am i doing wrong?
You ever figure out how to get the internet on your pda using the 6800 and the connection? I would like to do this bluetooth with my setup.
The newest version of WMWiFiRouter ($$$) allows you to do this over wifi, BT, or USB. If you have the money, it's a great program.
I have WMWifiRouter and use it with my laptop. How do i use it with bluetooth to get internet on my Dell X51? The x51 wants to dial a number when you setup a connection.
HTC Polaris has included WLAN, so my Question can the Device can be used as a WLAN USB Stick, to connect the PC with the Internet (Router or Modem Connection).
My PC is far away from the Router so i dont want LAN Cable at all. Is WLAN possible via Mobile
Hmm... In theory it should work over ActiveSync/Windows Mmbile Device Center since WLAN is one adapter and AS/WMDC is another adapter.
But you'd need some kind of router software for polaris to route requests from AS/WMDC-Adapter over WLAN-Adapter to your internet modem or router.
Don't know if such software exists. I'm afraid you have to google for it by yourself.
WMWifiRouter
I have been testing WMWifiRouter and its great, the latest version 1.11 seems quite stable and I get a good connection speed considering its a mobile. Just make sure you are on an unlimited data plan otherwise you will soon clock up a nasty bill ;o)
Maybe it isn't so, but my understanding of the original question is that he wants to use the Cruise as a simple USB WiFi network card, while getting an internet access using an existing WiFi network. WMWifiRouter seems irrelevant for this task, and even if it can do it, you can probably get a WiFi card (either USB or PCI) for WMWifiRouter's price.
Bottom line - i don't know if this is possible, but even if it is, WiFi cards are too cheap today to make it attractive.
With the original rom it's possible to share web connection to a pc. So it seems really easy and possible to do it. Just connect your polaris to the web using wifi and then share the connection with a usb cable. That's all.

Hi All,
I have had a look through the forums, (I may just not be searching for the right thing.) so please excuse me if this has already been answered somewhere.
I have just bought the Hero everything is standard at the moment as I am not sure yet what I am doing with the Android OS as I currently have a Rhodium WinMo phone.
On the Rhodium you are able to connect the USB cable to the PC and use you PC's current DSL connection to access the internet from the phone and not the phones mobile internet connection, I have not been able to achieve this from the Hero, it keeps telling me I need to enable the mobile internet connection to access the internet.
Does the Hero have the same functionality as the WinMo devices?
Many Thanks
afaik this is not possible so far. easiest way to get landline internet on the hero is to use wifi.
Well, if you have Windows 7 in your PC, you can use Wireless Hosted Network and use PC's internet connection by connecting Hero to Win7 via WiFi. Manual instructions I used. Alternatively you can try Connectify or Virtual Router, but they are just a pretty interface for the same thing and I couldn't get them to work.
Many Thanks for the help i will try this out
