Different icons in menu start like Game folder icon... - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Anybody know how we can see all icons (and index) in shellres.dll file especially icons to change folder icons in menu start?
Icons for Games folder in menu start is:
1#shellres.dll,-8229
Icons for Office folder in menu start is:
1#officeres.dll,-7690
Is there any chance to see index of all icons in shellres.dll file? Perhaps do we know some folder icons, like this for game or office folder (standard folder icons with little addon)?

I've used PE Explorer to index all of these

Can you explain me how did found index of all icons in shellres.dll?
Did you found icon for Game folder in menu start?

So could I change the icon for a certain program like this?
I downloaded a game but it has an ugly icon that doesn't even look right with the game. I got a different icon I use with ultimatelaunch but it still shows the ugly icon in the recent programs list & the games folder. I would like it to show the icon I downloaded

The icon on the game folder is a file .icon that is hidden. If you use total commander and set it to show hidden files, you'll see it.

You can't just change the icon. Applications need to be digitally signed. If you change the icon, it will lose its signature, meaning it will give an error on startup. You'll need to unsign it first, change its icon using PE Explorer and signing it back.

Can you share your shellres.dll file?

Can you change icons?

You know how in Start Menu>Programs, you have icons for Games and Office folders....well, is there a way to set up other folders with icons? I opened the "icons" file from both Games and Office folders in Notepad and both files are shortcuts to DLL files with offset values. I was just wondering if there are any DLL packages that I can use to setup other folders with icons. If you know, please let me know as well.
.... HERE is an example... i have made others 2 icons sets.. i will upload it

How to change the SonyEricsson panel icons - Tutorial!

Here is my tutorial, how to change the Sonyericsson Panel icons:
1, On your Xperia copy the VUI files from Device:\program files\panels\sonyericsson panel\ to your storage card
2, Clear all the attributes - for example use Resco Explorer
( http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/ )
3, Copy to your computer, and decompress the VUI files - I used 7zip
( http://www.7-zip.org/ )
4, You will find the icon pictures in the decompressed folders
5, Use any picture editor software to make new icons (I used Photoshop) -the icon size must be 64x64 pixel, and save as png image
6, Open the VUI file -with 7zip, just open, do not decompress - only copy with drag and drop your edited pictures and overwrite the existing ones
7, Copy back to your Xperia to Device:\program files\panels\sonyericsson panel\
Before edit the original VUI file always backup them. You can change back to the original icons if replace the original VUIs.
I have made some icons, here are the changed VUIs in the VUIs.zip, and the photoshop files what I used for.
I have made a custom background also, use if you like it. It is just a background picture, you have to configure your Xperia panel, to match with the background.
Just wondering, how many vui files do you have in that folder. I only had a couple. In a cab I downloaded I saw there were seperate ones for the clock, rss etc.

The black theme:
Use any theme what you like, then install
UI Tweaker v0.5.4.4 ( http://freewareppc.com/utilities/uitweaker.shtml )
TdyScheme changer --> Windows Mobile 5.0 and above --> Use black Hue and Greyscale
Base Hue value: 161
You are welcome!
Very nice work!
Do you know if it's possible to make a separate icon for when an icon is selected/ pressed? (Have you noticed that pressing an icon on the SE panel does not highlight or otherwise change the icon, which makes it hard to tell if you have pressed it or not).
Thanks for your help.

Yes, this is possible. I used separate icons also. If you unpack the VUIs.zip, then unpack the mode.vui, you will see the icons how it seems if you pressed/activated or pressed/deactivated it. Of course you can edit them.

Hm... I have a Hungarian T-mobile phone and I haven't got any problem.
If you use Resco Explorer, check in options->general->browser options to clear all the pipes before the attributes.
It could be, that you aren't allowed now to see the hidden/ROM/system files.

How I change Icons in Folders?

I "lost" the HTC_Calender icon

Hi,
while trying to rearrange my program screen (via creating new sub-folders and cut and paste the links to these new folders)
on the HTC HD2 I "lost" the icon for the HTC_Calender program
I now only have a white/blue general folder like icon now.
The link is working though, HTC Calender starts.
Anybody knows, how I can rearange the correct icon for the link ?
The icon itself seems to be apparent in the /windows folder
as HTC_calendar.?
Thx for help
gersi
Try a soft reset, if you haven't done one yet.
Install the program JWMD Icon Changer and find the calender icon and select it to load to default icon.

[Q] Custom icons for third party apps in MIUI?

I've been wondering if there's a way to add custom icons for third party apps in MIUI ROM. I know you can change icons of applications by opening the .apk and replacing the icon file inside but MIUI adds its own background for third party apps' icons. So my question is, how can I prevent MIUI from doing that?
The default icons seem to be located in the farmework-res.apk inside "drawable-hdpi-finger" folder. I tried adding new icons there and naming them to "icon_handcent.png" or "icon_handcent_sms.png" etc. but this didn't work.
And just to be clear I don't want any widgets like Desktop Visualizer or BetterCut to make new shortcuts. All of those apps make the new shortcuts as widgets and therefore they can't be added in the dockbar or inside folders.
Thanks in advance

I recon that if you create an icon that is exactly the same size as MIUI makes its icons then you wont be able to see the background it puts behind it.
What happens if you make an app's icon a black square that fills the whole png? Does it obscure any MIUI backgrounds?
ive been trying to add icons to this folder too but not had any luck. Im guessing it is contained in an xml telling the launcher to use those icons in the framework.res instead of the ones inside the apk itself.
Ive looked through a load of xmls in launcher and in framework but cant seem to find it anywhere.
On a side note i have read over on droidforums that by changing the icon for the apk contained in data/system/customized_icons then this will display the new icon of your choosing. So instead of placing your icon in the drawable_hdpi_finger folder, place them in there.

you will find all the miui generated 3rd party icons will be in there. Try replacing those (may need to wipe cache to apply, not sure)
and fyi the way miui makes icons is the same as iphone now. It uses icon_mask to limit the drawable size of the original icon, then applyies it on icon_pattern on top of icon_background, and finally places icon_frame over top of it all. all those files are found in framewrok-res.apk inside the drawable-hdpi finger folder
im trying to change the main icons not the customized ones. is there a folder for that? like settings and gallery icons.

Yes, in framework-res.apk there is a folder called drawable-hdpi-finger. All system apps have their icon in there. If you place your new icons in there then they will then be changed on the main screen.
What i still havent worked out is how to add icons in there for other apps such as handcent or dialerone.
i think the default_workspace.xml would need the app and package adding to it but i laso think there would be another step somewhere, not tried it yet.
wheres the framwork-res.apk located?
Is there a way to completely avoid this resize?

Is that the reason why MIUI resize the 3rd party app inside data/system/custom icons??
Is there a way to completely avoid this resize?
I have overwritten the background, for example, and now I have no unwanted background.
I can decide for the border, remove it the same.
But overwrite the icon_mask seems do not change the MIUI resizeing.
What have I to do?
Thank you in advance, to everybody who would help

I struggle finding this folder. Where is it?
I got this folder "system/customize" but no icons there. The "data" folder is empty.
Help please :3

How did you manage to overwrite the background? I found the customized_icons folder but just can't find the icon_background or icon_frame files on my system.
Help appreciated.
