This is just a version of Pocket CM. PocketCM has it's own site and is developed by a member of XDA-Devs. I think this is a relatively old version. Look here: http://pocketcm.com/ for a more recent version with some vast performance improvements.

"Finger Friendly" Apps--Requests and Rundown

Despite the recent "Touch" fad, many of us have been trying to reduce our reliance on the stylus for quite a while. I'd like to use this thread to compile a list of all "finger-friendly" apps, or log requests for apps to help spur their development. Don't forget to include hints if you have to configure an app a certain way to make it finger friendly. Many of these are in development already in this forum, so I thought it a good place to host this thread...
Here's what I use/know about:
PocketCM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320544) extremely useful for managing contacts. Active developer frequently makes updates. Good work tene!
PocketCM Keyboard (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321712) separate app from one above just for keyboard entry. Looks promising.
cLaunch--freeware today plug-in for launching apps. Hasn't been in development for a while, but still useful and free! Many options to configure the layout as big as you want.
phoneAlarm (www.pocketmax.net)--a today plug-in to handle notifications. Active skinning community keeps the look changing all the time. With certain skins this can be finger friendly.
WM5NewMenu (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=255580) configurable menu application that does a whole lot more than just start new contacts/notes. With liberal use of the "separator" item to spread out your entries, this can be very useful. Excellent app by Saman-cz.
Total Commander--file explorer replacement. Still requires the stylus for all functions, but when the mode is set to Show > Large Icons you can navigate folders pretty well with your digits.
Slide2Unlock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314703) basically a device lock. Some find this annoying, but its a quality implementation by A_C.
TouchNav (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327102&highlight=touchnav) for finger-friendly folder navigating. Looking forward to more development!
Unnamed app for quickly adding appointment or reviewing calendar (It was just a matter of time).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326891
FreeStyl: A flash-based interface for WM5 and WM6 devices that is inspired by the iphone interface. Formerly known as whoneedsaniphone and can be found at http://www.whoneedsaniphone.com
I really find that with the Touch, I hardly ever use a stylus anymore. It really has to do with the flush screen.
This is why even if you put the ToucFLO onto a different HTC phone, you still don't get the hard and flush screen. I used the TouchFLO on a Hermes and it just wasn't the same.
mortbuttons
HButton you can map 6 apps on 1 one button
thnks
i like this, i've been trying to get a good iphone interface on my ppc for some time now, this helps! thnks alot..
SPB just re-did PocketPlus, incorporating a lot of touch-flow capabilities to explorer, PIE, contacts (I prefer PockerCM), and other apps. Costs, but looks interesting!!!!
That's right, Hbutton is a pretty powerful app, I only have Pocket Breeze on my main screen (I use WAD), cause I can launch 90% of the apps I need through the Hardware buttons.
I just installed FTouchFlo, and I like it a lot, it lets me scroll using my finger instead of the scrollbars.

When you first run Pocket Hack Master, you run a series of tests on the device to work out which speeds your processor will support. Once this has been done, pick which speeds are your favorites, and they will be available at the touch of a button to change at will.
Use the CPU load screen to find how much processor speed your favorite applications are using, to work out what processor speed you want to use as your favorite.
Use the process viewer to find out which programs are running in the background on your Pocket PC.
Pocket Hack Master runs in the background, so you can quickly change the speed of the processor from the today screen with just a tap!
WARNING: Overclocking (increasing your processor speeds) can make some devices unstable and can lead to loss of data on the device. Always backup your data before using an untested speed. Some devices overclock better than others and therefore support different highest speeds.

It supports Smart Dial?
Thanks Navjot for such a quick response.
However, before installing this cab, I want to confirm whether this skin supports Smart Dial feature. I am asking this because in many threads I read, it was mention that certain skins do not support Smart Dial or that one has to disable Smart Dial before installing that skin.
Once again thanks a lot for your support.

Actually, there's two ways around that. WinAmp Mobile works very well (and is free) and does most everything Orb does. Or, if you want to spend $30, Kinoma (which actually uses Orb) is probably the best multimedia program I've used on WM.
Anytime I try to upload it says unexpected error and closes....? Using an AT&T Tilt... On another note the GUI looks awesome icons and everything. I normally change the icons in the start menu the one is the only one that I haven't changed it looks pretty smooth...
Hi Alkhal
Icon thanks to wapvirus . Right down to your problem.
Are you using Email upload or direct Upload?
Email has a draw back that you have to send and receive your email before it shows up in the album.
I can build you a special version to help debug this issue, if you are willing to test it for me?
I guess if you are the only one with problems, the weeks effort was worth it.

Medical program in HD2

I am a physician who want a big screen PDA phone to read text in several medical programs --> LEO is very very big screen and with capacitive screen --> I love it very much
But I want to know that HD2 can work with medical program?
such as Uptodate, skyscape, Isilo etc...
Now, I know that no one sure about this... just discussing
i am interested in this post too....i think all aplications for windows mobile can be instalated.
Pardon for my english, my teacher is very bad....or perhaps i am a very bad student
from WMpoweruser.com topic 2/11/52
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=9573
They said
PocketPC.ch have been the first to really test how well the HTC HD2, with is 4.3 inch capacitive screen, works with our older, more complex applications such as Pocket Informant and SBSH Weather.
The video shows that HTC has implemented a multi-touch system that allows one to enlarge the view and gain access to the older, smaller, less finger friendly controls in those apps. Microsoft is in the process of implementing a similar idea as seen in leaks of Windows Mobile 6.5.1, but as usual apparently less elegantly than HTC.
This feature works in all applications tested, but the process remains difficult with small controls, indicating a need to move towards more finger-friendly applications in a future where all devices have less precise capacitive screens.
Read more at PocketPC.ch here. --> they also has youtube video show multitouch zooming in those older programs..
I think the possible problem that make you can't use medical program & many Old apps is capacitive screen (I love capacitive screen ^^)..... that make you some problems when input in small area(skyscape programs have many..) ... but this wmuser topic is our hope!! >>> It's only hope... I'm not sure whether "Multitouch Zooming" support many programs or not.... but I trust in it's large screen with make every thing in screen large enough for input.
PS. I have bad english too .. don't be shame ^^
Hello to all, medical student here too. Well, in theory (as noone actually has the device in their hands yet) all the apps that used to work on wm 6.1 (wvga of course) should work on this device. The simple fact that the HTC HD2 has a capacitive screen does not change the fact that it runs on WM6.5 ... sure it doesn.t have the stylus but i don.t think we need one on a 4.3 display screen (even though HTC allready announced the magnetic stylus as an accesory for the ones insisting on using it)
So, in short theoretically all the apps that used to run on a wm device will work on the HD2 without any problems
colleages, good news, all medical app u mentioned above work like a charm, it is incredible to scroll through text with this baby, it is well worth it
There are problems with skyscape applications and uptodate.
Moving your finger up and down results in text selection instead of scrolling.
I have already started a new thread with this issue, but unfortunately there is no answer yet.

Really? Hmm... That is the big problem for me. I like to touch the screen and moving my finger slide around the text to move up and down instead using scroll bar.
Anyway, I want to know how you can manage this problem. Do you use the scroll bar instead of using touch slide? How scroll bar work? I mean can you touch the direction key in scrollbar despite its small size with HD2? or touch anywhere in scroll bar to move the page to direction you want

There is a work around, either you scroll by taping the scroll bar on the right, or you scroll by poping up the virtual keyboard and using the arrows there ( even on my old TP1, when you tried scrolling by actually fliking the finger, it resulted in text selection)
So in short, skyscape should work fine.
PS: I.ve heard (as i get the device next week and don.t have it yet) that if you try to scroll by actually moving the scrollbar on the right, that a square box should appear and make it a lot easyer, seen it on a youtube video.
I think that I have found a temporary solution
Install Ftouchsl and add exceptions for (at least) the following applications
manila.exe
shell32.exe
Opera9.exe
HTCalbum.exe
Also add an exception for Window name = "Phone"
Include in the exclusion list any other application that you want to use with the original htc's sense interface.
For the rest of the applications you will be able to use touchscrolling via ftouchsl.
This will ONLY influence touchscrolling. Multitouch (if enabled) will continue to work.
although indeed, when trying to scroll in uptodate, it selects text, the scroller bar its very usefull. Anyway, we all know this is a software problem, and the main reaseon we all on XDA upgrade our phones its because of the hardware. Th screen on this device compesates for all its software flaws. Just my opinion.
I use a lot of skyscape books and am particularly interested in this too. Currently, using Touch Pro2. Interested in HD2 but same confusions regarding skyscape. Already disappointed that notes application can not be used as a free sketch/drawing, which is a big drawback. If skyscape also cannot be used then HD2 with capicitative screen is useless and would rather prefer resistive screen of touch pro 2.

I have tried it and it works even better than the original htc touchflo because you can both scroll and select text.
I am still adding programs in the exception list and will come back with a list of applications that should be blocked.
Another interesting point in HD2... Step2p, I want to know your touchscrolling experience when you activated it. The moving page...Does it feel like "repeately press on the scroll bar directional button"(up or down) which is the same as before when you use touchscrolling with other WM device...or Does it feel smooth as Iphone(you can make it smooth on previously WM device by touch the screen and drag the page by hold your finger/stylet on the screen.
I want to know this... if it smooth as I said ...it will be great!. but if it just like the older before I still love this device.
I beg you guys, who has HD2...esp. step2p thankyou ^^
@troubletop
Scrolling in medical applications is not naturally supported by hd2, but using ftoushsl and adding exceptions for the rest of the applications in your device will solve this problem.
Touchscrolling is very smooth.
I have already had experience with ftouchsl in my X7500 and touchscrolling was excellent. It is better from htc's intrinsic touchscroll, because it allows you to configure both scrolling and text selection (with prolonged pressure).
The capacitive screen makes scrolling experience even better (although the application is the same), because you don't need to apply pressure in order to scroll.
Unfortunately however, I can not provide you with comparative data to iphone's scrolling experience, because I have never had an iphone.

Do you already have the updated list of programs that should be included in the exception list?
I haven't installed the software yet (Ftouchsl), basically because I'm afraid I would disable several scrolling features that I like about HD Sense.
In fact, I'd rather prefer that Ftouchsl allows the opposite -that is, to include in a list ONLY the programs you want the Ftouchsl to work on, and not an exception list, you know what I mean? Because in my case, I want the old original HD scrolling feature for a couple of programs only: Skyscape and Epocrates.
Ftouchsl?
Hi All, where do I download/install the ftouchsl program for HD2. Is this uninstallable, just in case there are problems

PS: I.ve heard (as i get the device next week and don.t have it yet) that if you try to scroll by actually moving the scrollbar on the right, that a square box should appear and make it a lot easyer, seen it on a youtube video.

I have suddenly lost the small square that used to appear while scrolling on the scroll bar. Anyway of getting it back?

I noticed this behaviour as well. I don't think there is a solution. Scrolling to the bottom of a very long file takes a while this way... I compensated by increasing the sensivity in setting of FTouchSL, so I can scroll faster.
BTW is use UptoDate a while with FTouchSL, and it makes is so much more convenient...

I think the same, instead of excluding apps, I think including would be more efficient. However, it takes a few minutes to exclude all apps you want, really not much hassle.
Sometimes it's anoying if a new app seems to malfunction, and later on I realize FTouchSL was interfering and making the trouble.
Hopefully, a better app will come out soon, however newer apps will support touch scrolling anyway.

Custom ROM Feature requests

A bit of 'customer feedback' etc:
I was going to ask a question, because I have a specific request, but then thought rather than limit the thread why not make it a general feature request for custom ROMs, for people to come up with new ideas etc for our esteemed cooks to implement.
Anyway, this is my request:
Can we have a 'delete' icon on the SMS and Email tabs in Sense, so we can delete junk emails as they arrive without having to open them first?
Thanks
Paul.
some requests from the Chefs
1 - transparency all over, everywhere.
2 - no curtains anywhere
3 - small sized colour icon pack for taskbar, notifications, startbutton
4 - built in Slide-2-Unlock (ask the devs)
5 - all stock photo's , stock stocks, stock footprints delete
6 - clock packs in cabs with installation. Clock with seconds
7 - actionscreen on endcall button and left softkey
8 - preinstall my own application Reperion (find your phone back after theft)
9 - Organized startmenu !!!! All these freaking icons need to much scrolling!
10- built in ACR HD2 (automatic call recording)
11 built in musicID latest version
etc etc.. let the cooking begin
stable, stable , very stable ~
Hope this gonna be true
Sense 2.1!
I wish I could have the folowing.
- Without Copilot8 trial
- WM messaging (not HTC messaging) by default
Well. that's all..
Something that I'd definitely want is a simple and useful task manager that would make switching between say the music player and browser much less of a chore(I have the taskmanager on my startscreen as a quick launch icon). Just mapping the current task manager to one of the hard buttons would suffice.
* Super-fast.
* Loads of free ROM space - dump all unneeded crap like wallpapers and ringtones as separate cabs
* WM 6.5.x (a must!)
* Stock Manila with options to customise
* Dump Jblend for Jbed. Jbed is sooo much faster
* Microsoft Bluetooth Stack... if possible (probably not).
1- delete button on the email tab
2- graphical task switcher (similar to Windows 7) with touch scrolling through tasks
3- larger buttons (see NRJ Blackstone ROMs)
4- enable windows Mobile contacts in HTC "People" so you don't have to use the Windows Contacts application to create Windows Live contacts.
5- Ported Google Maps Navigation application from Android
6- enable importing of facebook phone numbers when linking contact to facebook, currently only birthday and picture are being imported.
Don't know if this is possible but
1. Option to save all e-mail (not just attachments) from all accounts to microSD
2. Import facebook birthday from contacts to calendar
3. Eliminate bugs with alarm app, sometimes I have to press 2-3 times to get into app
- Without Copilot8 trial
- WM messaging (not HTC messaging) by default
The Main to reqeusts, get rid of the buggy HTC messaging and CoPilot trial to save space!
- as close to stock as possible.
- option to have chinese traditional support (dislay/keyboard)
Dont take this the wrong way but..
Many chefs here choose to make their ROMs to fit the "market", to please as many as possible. So changes as, transparency there, transparency here, app this, app that. Its just to specific to each induvidual that want a cooked ROM.
Dont get me wrong, its good that you guys tell the/us chefs what you want. But this could just be done in the chefs ROM threads instead.
Just read the posts. Many of you takes up the same things. If you want a ROM that fist all youre needs, cook it youre self (Or talk to a nice chef to do if for you?).
Just my 2 cents..

I couldn't agree more. I don't "cook" myself, but I'm an avid taster
I would personally LOVE to see a ROM with nothing but the basics on there, along with a list of CABs, in order to install anything not included. That way, we can have a real lite version of the OS & GUI, and customize the software ourselves. I'm just after more space, and less of what I don't actually want!

Excactly.. There are UC comp ROMs and SHASHIMI to tweak the phone after HR, so just cooking some stuff in it is worse imo. I just dont se the point.

The only advantage I see is fast setup after hard reset if all the settings and tweaks are included in a ROM.
But many requests we have here are things for which there are no cabs, so maybe it is interesting not only to the cooks but also to the app developers (BS Tweak, Max Manilla, Touch X Icons etc...).

Agreed.
Would love to see an Ultra Lite ROM with everything that can be removed gone. In addition to this... cab files to put the removed stuff back if you wanted to.
What really annoys me with ROMs is when apps like google maps and Opera are cooked in.... These apps are always being updated so removing them from ROMs just makes sense!
Request
- Better touch screen accuracy.
- Better touch keyboard accuracy (like in iPhone)
- Close/Minimize buttons like in Windows 95/98/NT/XP/Vista/7
- Some kind of Windows 7 pined buttons at the bottom of screen, so you can always Maximize soft.
without copilot trial
auto power on/off on base of proximity sensor (or combination)
auto in call speaker on/off on base of proximity sensor (or other)
a lot more storage space, unbelievable now... 512mb rom standard, after initial setup there is only 178.11MB free to use???? So so soooooo wrong.... lol
working taskmanager @ top right corner, one which doesn't slow the device down!!!! showcase is no option, unresponsive and too big. One tap should be enough to display the running tasks..... (with the option to close them or switch to them)
fix the htc weather graphics of frost/snow (see attached pic for clarification ) --> only noticeable when you use hdwall for full screen wallpapers.
find a way to limit the number of sms to display when using threaded sms. It takes ages for the damn program to load the conversation. If for example it only loads like 20-30 sms, then there will be no problem i think. May b a button to show history (all?) --> may b better a suggestion to HTC, apparently they haven't tested with a large number of text messages. If they did...... SHAME ON YOU!
