Hey everyone,
I've been looking at buying the HTC W100 Remote Control headphone adapter for my Kaiser, but I really want to use it with S2P. Now I know out of the box it will not work, but what I'm wanting to do is make it work!
Basically if we can get the keycodes of the buttons from the adapter, we can make a plugin that will allow it to work with S2P and other programs.
As of yet I haven't been able to buy the adapter myself (Paid at the end of the month!), but I am wondering if anyone out there that does already have one can help me out.
I've attached a link to a program that will tell you the keycode of almost all the buttons on the Kaiser (And other Windows Mobile based devices) and all I want you to do is use this and see if it tells you the keycodes from the adapter.
Anyone that can help me please do, and reply to this thread with the following info:
* What phone you are using (Preferably a Kaiser variant but open to others to develop for those as well).
* What ROM you are using.
* Brand of Remote (HTC, Dopod, etc - Just incase these do work differently)
* Keycodes you get.
I really hope I get some help with this as this would make S2P a brilliant (Already is brilliant but this would make it better) WMP replacement.
Thanks alot and I look forward to some replies!

Hi, I've tested and the results are... scarce:
Code:
remote button Call 0x72 (114)
remote button End Call 0x73 (115)
The rest of the buttons in the remote are not read by your keycode program. When pressed Play/Pause button for instance, HTC Audio Manager starts up immediately and no code appears at keycode. Exactly the same for the other buttons: Prev, Next, Volume up, Volume Down.
Mute and Hold switchers do nothing: no keycode, no program starts up.
* My device: HTC Tytn II (Kaiser 120)
* ROM: HTC official spanish ROM WM6.0 ->
Radio: 1.27.12.11
Protocol: 22.45.88.07H
ROM: 1.56.412.4
Date: 08/28/07
* Remote: HTC w100

No I havent bought one yet, but just got my student loan payment through (Yey I have money to buy food to eat! lol) so I'm ordering 1 today off ebay, its gonna take a few weeks but I will have one soon.
Ordered my Headset, waiting for it to be delivered now! £14 off ebay!!! Getting a desktop charge/sync cradle for it as well for like £10 lol.
@mrbandwidth
Thanks alot for your response! Shame it hasn't been a straight forward key remapping with the driver then, even thought is has been for the Call and End Call buttons (on my device I get the same keycodes as you've provided).
At least I now have some details and can check that with my own when I receive it to make sure the codes stay the same on all Kaisers.
Thanks again mrbandwidth!
Anyone else wanting to list their codes they get are very welcome to, the more the better.
Looks like I'll be trying to make a better driver for them over the summer, thats going to be alot of fun! !
Anyone have any other suggestions on a way to get this headset to work with S2P?
Thanks,
M_Taylor40
wouldnt it be better 2 modify wmp 10 or the HTC audioplayer?
I myself only care about the sound quality so i wouldnt mind using htc audioplayer, but it is sooo limited, I heard about equalizers en the SRS WOW driver but the SRS does not work, so i hope (wait) for an better release but what i really want 2 see is een replacement 4 htc audiomanager something like pocketplayer or GS player
If the solution isnt her fast I am gonna sell my RC W100 and buy the bluetooth variant, BH S100 I red that a dutch guy have it working with pocketplayer with a plugin , but he uses it on a Tytn 1.
does anybody knows of this device will work with my TyTn II (vodafone v1615)

Have you tried with AE Button Plus and AEkmap software ? These 2 softwares allow to map application by pressing a button. I pretty sure you can get the keycode of the W100 remote control with it.
@chris247
No I have not tried those programs, I will do as soon as I receive my headset, I'm still waiting for my bank to let paypal take the money!
As soon as I receive my headset I'll post and let everyone know my findings with all 3 programs, hopefully between them we can get a fix made lol.
Thanks for your help,
M_Taylor40
I have tried AE button plus and it doesn't recognise the key presses except pick up and hang up. When you press the other keys you just get the normal audio manager starting up, it may be that the audio manager software is blocking the key presses before AE button plus gets them?
G
@evilged
Lol, y couldnt HTC make it just pickup what keys WMP already had mapped for its controls lol, make this so much easier.
Well I've finally head back from paypal about my headset, saying my bank isn't letting them have the money to pay the seller lol, have to sort this out later after I finish work.
I wonder if it is possible to get a clean windows mobile 6.1 rom that will work on my kaiser without any htc software installed, then to install the headset driver and c wot it does then.
If the HTC Audio Manager is blocking the keys before the programs can read their codes this wud hopefully get round it.
Well anyways got to run off to work now!

Key codes on Artemis
Hello,
i'd also like the w100 supporting S2P and just tested the key codes on my XDA Orbit (Artemis/P3300):
Code:
remote call end 0x73 (115)
i.e. the green call button does not show a key code as it is with all the other buttons... :-(
Matzix
Hey everyone,
As we can't get the keycodes that this headset uses, I'm lookin at tring to find the driver it uses to see if we can modify that.
The problem I have now, is that I cannot find the driver to download anywhere!
All links that go to the htc europe download centre do not work.
Is there anyone out there that has the driver that can post it on here for me?
Thanks,
M_Taylor40

Having had my XDA 2 now for a few weeks, and having finally worked out most of the kinks of the really inadequate bluetooth stack (by installing the widcomm stack) I am now moved to address my other annoyances: the very feature poor phone software.
I expected a very configurable phone, but was very disappointed with the microsoft dailer. The short list of features I find missing are:
No separate ring tones can be assigned to each contact. This could be very usefully, as you would know who is phoning without checking the screen.
No software to keep track of your calls or GPRS allowance. Even my old nokia from 3 years ago could do that.
No way to transfer a call from the handset to a headset. I know you can do it the other way around, why not this way too?
Very little status information on the dailer screen. Why is this, when most cell phone screens look like the status display on a jet?
Anyways, there is alot more, and people may want to add their annoyances. Im really wondering if there is any software that can replace the microsoft Dailer (like Pocketinformant replaces the pocket outlook).
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Surur
Took me a minute to know what you're talking about.
No, I hate the built-in dialer on the Pocket PC.
The author of mobidial (http://www.mobidial.com) told me there will be an XDA II version.. hopefully soon.
-arebelspy
hey,
just a few comments....
re: No separate ring tones can be assigned to each contact
- i beleive the o2 xda site has free software for download; one of which is called powercontacts. i believe it allows you to assign a ringtone to each contact. i tried it when i still had the xda1...never got it to work. so, i downloaded a trial version of ringtonex; it works like a charm and i'm able to assign individual ringtones to any contact i want. i immediately bought the software, i think it was for around 9usd. now that i'm using the xda2; the software still works great. for ringtones what i did was record the voice of my friends, officemates, my wife, and used those wav files for ringtones corresponding to their contacts. it also works in tandem with the photocontacts app in the xda2
re: No way to transfer a call from the handset to a headset
-the xda2 has bluetooth and i use it together with the bt200 headset. incoming and outgoing calls are automatically transferred to the headset.
2 cents worth.
cheers mate
robson
Transferring from phone to headset is a headset dependent thing. My HBH-65 allows me to transfer to phone and back to headset, but my Jabra wouldn't have.
Thx for the great pointers. I am definitely getting the RingtoneX app, and mobidail or something similar, when it comes out.
I just wish that developers would design more for handed use, not using a stylus, especially as bluetooth voicedailing does not work.
About transferring to a headset, I mean after you pick up a call with the XDA, transferring the call to a headset should be possible, but has not worked for me yet.
Another minor peeve, why is the sms option not on the dialler, but on the menu bar, and why is speaker phone also not on the front, but you have to press a key for it. There still needs to be alot of improvement. Hopefully independent programmers will kick in and fix all these deficiencies. It does make you wonder if the developers actually use their own devices or not...

i think it's because that most cell phones screens is their version of the today screen
i most surdenly would not wish such a confusing cluttet messy interface on my worst enemy
(yeah of cause not all cellphones are all that bad some many are)
I dont know. At least they should have the battery status on the screen, and the network logo would not be ammis either (currently its difficult to know when you have no reception, or just no reception)
Alot of the stuff thats currently in the task bar could also be bigger icons on the dailer, and it would also make it look less plain and just incomplete, as if its been thrown together at the last minute.
Surur
well not sure if it's much help but if you install some bar like advanced wisbar on your pda you'll have batt status in the bar both in today and the dialer
suppose this is a pre customised vs. free 3. party customising
some people like to set up their device with personal customising and some people want the place they buy it to handle that
in that way i suppose xda and other such devices are more like computers then std phones are
of cause if one get a xda with all the stuff in the preloaded provider rom they get more of that stuff you want
of cause thats not saying that they get enough
Ive been a user of Icbar for a long time, but as notifications is so important on a PPCPE device, and its not supported, I am not able to use it anymore. This is unfortuanate, as I enjoyed knowing what my battary status is all the time.

If you want to use your finger to dial contacts try Fingerclix by imaginet software. I used it on my Samsung I700 and now my I-Mate and it works just fine.

This is brilliant. It would be even better if it could use the phone key insteadof loosing my contacts button. Any idea how to do htis.

I was thinking about some annoying things about the Wizard and was wondering if anyone knew of a program that would let you re-assign button combinations for system shortcuts?
Like the Align screen. If you play emulators you probably know what I mean. Or the Run shortcut, pressing the enter key and holding the stylus on the clock is not worth it, but hold Windows key and hit "r" would be nice.
Anyone know of a program that will allow you to do this?
Or any Programming masters want to take this up?
PQz should allow you to do most of that stuff (eg windows key + r = run, I think).
Regarding the align screen, I've written VJCalibrula to disable that, but I've also written another tool to allow you to reassign most of the hardware assigned keyboard apps, eg reassign internet explorer combo, filexplorer combo, on the Hermes the video key etc. Also reassign the wired headset button to launch any app.
I could probably also write an app activated by the light sensor, but didn't think there was much point!
I'm going to try to build an app around the idea and release eventually.

Vijay555 I was kinda hoping you would see this do you know though if any of these work on the Wizard?
I tried VJCalibrula but the program didn't execute. Unless you have created an update since I last tried.
I did an updated VJCalibrula for your 2.26 rom, which one of your brethren tested and said it worked. Ergo:
Please test -
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjcalibrula/vjcalibrulawizard.exe
However, to get some feedback if it worked, make a shortcut to the .exe and run with the command line -debug to get info.
The new unnamed app should work on pretty much every keyboard device, although I don't have a wizard and it really holds back my testing. VJVolubilis still can't be finalised because of this... one day
I'm still wondering how to present the final of VJ[...] button app. I'm using a rough and ready version for now, but I'll try to implement some kind of GUI eventually.
Ask me in a week or so and I'll try to send you an alpha if you want.
V
VJCalibrula does NOT work on the HTC Wizard (or at least my Cingular 8125). I am DYING for a release, as this Capcom emulator is freaking sweet, but this align screen nonsense is beyond annoying.
Please help!!

Hi I just got the phone today and have been reading posts on this forum.
I have a couple of questions.
1. I used to have 8125 and the way to change right volume was on the side of the phone now 8525 has a scroll weel there how can i change the ringht volume or atleast to vibrate with a button without going into setings?
2. Is there a way to use the GPS? From what I understand all phones have GPS but we just can't use it for navigation only the cops can use it?
3. I see that you guys are using all kinds of roms on your phones, please sugest the best one or top rated or the one u think is most stable?
4. So far my plan is to: Upgrade the ROM, Install a different comm manager (to set the phone to one network), What other sugestions do you have?
Thank You all
I appreciate any help.
VM
With GPS you need to buy a bluetooth GPS receiver and some navigation software, I would recommend TomTom. With the volume just tap the volume icon in the top bar and you can adjust the volume or you could use Comm manager switch to vibrate etc.
I understand you can use PGS receiver but isent there a GPS build into the phone already? From what I read by law all US cell phones must have GPS build in for the police (maybe it was never done)?
Also for the volume I understand how to do it manualy but isent there a way to use the scroll weel or another buton ?
Thanks

When in a call the scroll wheel adjusts volume and also in certain other programs like windows media player.
As regards the best ROM. There is no correct answer to that question. They are all slightly different with different features. Some folknprefer one with as little as possible added to give speed of operation, others want particular features added that they use a lot.
You will have to read, read, read on the upgrading forum. The assumption on the upgrading forum is that you will have read a lot before asking questions. If you decide to upgrade then I recommend using Mrvanx guides to do it unless you are certain of what you are doing. He is a member here but you can google mrvanx also.
Mike
Thanks,
I did read and read and read for like 3 hours yesturday and I know the options and where to find info on how to do it my questions are more forcused on helping me make the decision on which of the 1000 things that i read I should do to my phone.
On the sound Issue, Like i am about to walk into a meeting and i want to turn the volume down to vibrate on 8125(wizard) it was a move of a finger i didnt even have to take the phone out of my poket. How can i do the same on 8525 (hermes) ? I understand I can tap on the sound icon or go into comm manager but I want to do it with a button?
You said that Roms are different with how many fitures they have? how can i find out which rom has which features is there a comparison chart somewhere?
Thanks A lot
For the vibrate toggle search for Commtoggle-vibrate-fix.cab works great.
As for good ROMs, you'll just have to try several - it seems that even though the hardware is EXACTLY the same, different ROMs work better on some hardware than others. Also different ROMS work better with the software you like to install than others.
Definitely use MrVanx guides. I'd suggest trying Custels ROMs (cingular oriented), Black Majik, VP3G (cingular optimized), Legolas' and Faria.
Personally I'm running Black Majik currently, it's just setup more how I like it by default.
Agree with PKLEY; the Commtoggle-vibrate-fix.cab works very will with the 8525; once installed, just hold the Comm mgr button for sec. or so and the phone switches to vibrate (and will vibrate and show a vibe icon); to return to normal ring, hold the comm button once more. I use it frequently without problems on both my 8525's
awsome thanks guys the vibrate fix made my day

I think the above posters had a slightly confused name. Not Comtoggle-vibrate-fix.cab, real name is CommButton-Toggle-Vibrate-Fix.cab!
They were close though... LOL
Another place to find it, and most other helpful cabs, is HERE. Especially good is DeStefano's Cab Collection
Enjoy!
just wanted to give my 2 cents also. i also have an 8525 and i did basically what another member already suggested: downloaded several ROMs and installed each one on the phone and played with it for a while until i found which one i liked the best (settled on v3pg). each of them has its own highs and lows. just have to play around.
Hello,
I have been working on a new audioswitch app to replace troca2 and audioswitch.
I have started to make a new app called audioswitch v2 but soon ran out of time... and xiexin1008 got the project and had made and new experimental app.
Today, I had some free time, and made other app with a "switchclass" that deal with all the ril stuff(based on my first class that is on the Xiexin project), so others can improve and use it even as a dll in c#(u have to build it as a dll first)
I called it "simple audioswitch".
How it works: run the program and "put it on the background"
volume "up and down" switch the audio.
volume "down and up" close the app.
if an incomming call shows up, the audio will be routed back.
I have tested it only in my p3301. so I do not know if it works or not in other phones.
Once more the license:
It is free code, free binaries, and all work derived from it.
use at your own risk and I am not responsible for nothing...
Support on the forum.

about the various methods of switch the audio...
mostly uses drivers messages.
u can find very useful information about it at www.teksoftco.com, even a audio driver wrapper that spy at audio messages.
by this time it is not for me, too busy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
will open sorce of this app so others can inprove it.
Thanks to Xiexin, I will not post his work now, will wait for his email.
Thanks Dan-Marius to all the feedback.
Thanks.
Hop u like. sorry for the messy code(is an one hour work).
@MarceloFB
The ideea of listeninng RIL for incomming calls is a very good one! Congratulation, you did a great job. Yes, a really great one.
The simpleAudioSwitch.cab file is attached.
Guys, it works very fine.
Thank you Marcelo!
I tried this program and I like using hardware keys pattern to change audio. I like the most that I don't have to change the way buttons worked before. this is the best solution I saw till now.
But there's is still a problem. It seems all programs of this sort use same procedure to route audio. But when audio is routed in my phone it seems it doesn't come from internal speaker. Or maybe not exclusively from internal speaker.
Sound still can be heard from external speaker but quieter.
So I can say now that we have good user interface but routing mechanism needs to be improved.
I have HTC Touch Cruise with 3LIT3 FULL ROM

The "routing mechanism" is using RIL lib, by now thre is no other "easy avaliable" way to rout the audio.
Try changing the radio or the entire rom of your phone, I have tested in touch cruise this method and works fine, but with the stock rom.
can you please tell me which ROM, radio and protocol version have you tried it with, so I can try the same and compare with this one I have?

Great app.
Just started using it on my HTC Touch HD with Dutty ROM v3.3. It seems as though Up & Up switches the audio for me (not up and down). Down and Up exits the app.

Also, earphone is silent when the phone is on vibrate (and probably when it's on silent too although I haven't tested it).

Hi,
I still use the old version with mortscript to control the program and I love it .
I have a request for this new version.
1 - Can we decide which key controls the audio switching ? ( Since I have a Fuze and I have a PTT button which I never use )
2 - also is it possible to add the bluetooth handfree to audio switch options as well ? sometime when I'm driving I love to use my voip or skype over 3G using my bluetooth handfree .
Sincerely
Thunder
Will there be a new version, which is working with Skype 3.0 mobile beta?
I am having problems trying to get this to work with my Benq e72 phone running Windows Mobile 5.
I am trying to use it at the same time as Ageet Agephone mobile 2.76.
http://www.ageet.com/us/products-agephone-mobile.htm
It seems like Agephone mobile 2.76 takes over controls of the volume up and down button. When I push the up and down volume control button it just wants to change the volume and not switch the speaker/earpiece - I can't get Audioswitch to work. [Maybe I am not doing something simple properly?] But at least it installs correctly.
So then I try AudioRoute http://www.teksoftco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1995
Unfortunately this won't install properly - it says something like:
installation file is not intended for this device

I'm also a creator of WinMo apps (www.saman-cz.com), so I know that recreating cab is just a piece of cake.
But OK. To modify cabinet get WinCE Cab Manager (trial is good enough), open cab, go menu Cabinet->Properties, Operating System tab, set minimum version to 5.0 and maximum to 9.9, hit Ok, then File->Save
Just another result from my tests:
After restarting phone I tried rerouting once more and the microphone worked well. Weird but nice

It would be so great, if I not even had to put out my phone to dial a contact or something.
Does anyone tried this already and can give me a hint?
Thanks in advance.

Hey guys,
setting up Microsoft Voice Command here at the moment.
Working great, if I press and hold the sendkey for a few secs.
But now I want to map the Play/Pause/Accept Call-Button on headset with voicecmd.exe .

Well i dont know about MSVC but the play/pause - Answer key on my wired headset works fine to initiate calls with Cyberon voice commander with no special setting up. If you are referring to bluetooth headsets then as is stated in severasl threads on here they do not work correctly.
Thanks, but in my case I need exactly as I described it above. MSVC over wired original Headset.
Nobody EVER tried that? But it would be so nice and comfortable ..
I haven't really had a detailed look, but have a look at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476412
It was designed for the Touch HD, and a cursory glance suggests the Leo doesn't use the sddialer.exe app, but the same philosophy should apply. I'll try to update my apps for Leo, and no doubt the concept has already been improved elsewhere, but it should at least give you a pointer!

This worked for me - partially. Simply swopped the redial.exe with yours and added a shortcut on Voicecommand..
It works everytime, when the device is unlocked. When I put it to standby, it doesnt work immediately. But if I wait a few minutes, it works .. often. But not every time Dont know, whats the reason for this.
But its definitely a pointer, how it should work in future .. Thanks for that.
I'll try and look into it in more detail soon. I've only had the Leo for a day or so, and am still rom hacking, but will do some coding soon.
Should be easy enough to find the other executable it launches and replace that too.

Looking forward to your release Thanks in advance.
