Hi!
I have a problem... the ActiveSync 4.1 install program says that I need to have the latest service pack installed, but I don't have it... Is there a way to somehow install it without having SP2?
EDIT: This problem is already solved, but I have another one... look at my next post here
I've run AS 4.1 on XP SP1 with no problems. Currently running AS 4.2 beta on XP SP1 again with no issues.
I just ran the install, it did'nt report anything back.
I suggest you update XP with the custom option.
ok, I installed ActiveSync 4.2 by using the Windows 2000 compatibility mode
But now I have another problem It doesn't see my MDA Pro... when I connect my MDA, it's recognized as a Windows Mobile device, but it asks me for some drivers which I don't have. So I don't install any drivers, and AS doesn't see it....
EDIT:
I tried uninstalling AS, and installing AS 4.1, and it still doesn't work. It asks me for a driver, and when I tell him to install it automatically, here's what it says (I have a Polish version of Windows, but I'll try to translate the error message to English):
Can't install hardware
An error occurred when installing this hardware:
Windows Mobile-based Device
An error occurred when installing this device.
There's no required entry in the driver installation file. The reason can be that the INF file was written for Windows 95 or newer system. Contact your hardware vendor.

Can anyone help me?
I have a strange issue. I just got a new pc with vista 64. I download WMDC update and installed. After the installation I plug my phone in and I a popup that says USB device and I click on the popup and get installing driver - searching for drivers - and than FAIL please contact your vender to assist you in installing the drivers blah blah. I uninstalled the whole thing and downloaded the latest WMDC and still same thing happens.
I've done a bit of research and I've tried installing with firewall off, virus scan off, etc..
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ray

I ran into the same problem and received DOC files from Blueant which helped (they weren't perfect). I've attached a zip file of the doc file for you to try. Just unzip and take a look-see.
hmm
thanks for the doc. is my device supposed to be auto installing the software when i connect it holding down the vol + button?..i think this is whats causing my problem bc im still unable to properly install this upgrade
ugh
im beginning to think that this software isnt comp. with x64 bit systems..lol
Once you get it right (Device Manager, etc.), it auto-installs after running the EXE from your PC. 64-bit Vista might be a gotcha. While Blueant takes a couple days to respond via email, they have been fairly thorough, at least with me. You might be better served by calling them.
I'm running Vista 32-bit, but following the Vista instructions on their site I was able to get mine set up to update without a problem. Not sure if it's different for x64 though.

Well, during my initial firmware upgrade, I was getting a BFU mode error. "Firmware upgrade could not be controlled. The device may still be processing a previous request." Their response was to provide me with that doc, stating that it was different from what was found on the web. Maybe they updated the web instructions or you had someone looking over you...
I installed SP1 on the shift when SP1 first came out, and had problems with connectivity. I set the computer back to out of box condition and never re-installed SP1.
I see a lot of updates for the Shift from HTC now. If I install the updates, is it safe to install SP1?
Thanks!
I have no problem with SP1, but I work in high performance mode.
yes you can ,
so far , i do not have any problem, plus since i installed all htc patches my sd card work well even after hibernation with wifi enabled
I installed SP1 post updating the Drivers from the HTC website this weekend and have faced no problems.
I have also updated with no major issues unless for the Bluetooth that is not accepting the current driver, however I can still make bluetooth connections and it seems to work fine without an updated driver.
I was installing all of the new drivers in the specified order and got down to the touch screen driver and never could find the folder that contained the touchscreen driver exe file that your supposed to run.
Anyone give me a little info that will help me here?

I tried installing the latest builds of Haykuro into my G1, they install fine however I lose adb I keep getting "error: device not found" when I revert to the latest JesusFreak build it starts working again just fine, any ideas why? Thank you in advance.
Sometimes adb.exe stay open in windows process close it reboot your phone and plug it again all is good.
did this fix it?
If not i updated to the new spl and got the new drivers and now adb works fine.
I am using Windows 7 64bit... I could get ADB working one time, and two mins later not at all.
I found this "tip" in a prior thread and I cannot remember who to credit (sorry).... but this worked for me last night without a problem....
When you reboot... hit F8, and scroll all the way down and disable Digital Driver Signing.
After I booted ADB was working great.
Thank you all
Thank you for all your responses I will try them tonight =]
