First off you're in the wrong section of this forum. The 8525 isn't the Kaiser or Tilt, it is the Hermes

Best 8525 WM6 Upgrade?

Hello Every,
I've been a big xda-developers and i've gone to you guys many times in the past to help me out. I have just been talk into a ROM upgrade from my friend who has my Wizard and loves WM6. So i have decide that AT&T is taking too long on the WM6 release and would like to move on over.
Now i have gone through and read all the different upgrade from all the different ROMs, Black Majic, etc and i want to get everyone's opinion on which ROM is the best to go with for the 8525? I want a fast ROM that is fully functional with my ActiveSync for exchange and has some cool new features.
Let me know what you guys think.
Thread number 1,304 on this topic.
If you're an AT&T user, I would highly recommend vp3G's rom. It's very nice, especially since it's all set up for AT&T use already
GldRush98 thanks for the reply. I was looking for a link like this but i didn't see one for the 8525. Thanks for your input.
welcome to xda-developers... i suggest reading this and when asking questions... have a look at the Forum Titles... if its Windows Mobile 6 related (like this question is) the question is to be asked in there...
i always find this also a good source of knowledge...

Newbie right here! Have any tips for me?

Hello everyone this is my first post on these boards and Id like to say after reading a
few posts its nice to see a well rounded forum with nice people.
As you now know I'm really new to the whole PDA cell phone thing. I just order a Wing from ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320152545128&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=011
and I was looking for any tips or guides that could help me out with my first PDA phone.
I've had the Moto V220 and Siemens SK65, so this is a big upgrade for me. Any help
at all would be awesome, I'm looking for tips on how to speed up the phone, free room
and upgrade it to the newest software/firmware. And even some apps or games that can be install on the Wing.
Thanks!

Best advice I can offer you is just to get used to your device. Get the feel of it and play with it. Once you have done this, then read the wiki so you understand more.
If after all of this you feel you want to change anything, do a search for it first, read up on it and then try it out.
There are plenty of apps/software/games/themes available for you to install on your HD. Apps/software & games which work on the HD can also be found in the wiki as well as in the software forum.
You can also change roms (operating system), but you will need to do some research on this first. Guide to flashing roms can be found here.
The most important thing of all is to research & read before trying anything. If your unsure of anything on any particular topic, ask your question within that relevant thread

Hello guys, it's been a while.

Hello all!! I've been gone for a while, I've been busy being sucked into the iphone trend, and this phone is about to bring me back to my senses. Before I left the community I was heavily into herald(wing) modding and tomorrow I expect to be running with the htc hd2 from now on.
I'm basically starting this thread in the hopes that one of you pro's can point me in the right direction. What do I do first? I'm well aware that stock software on any phone is crap, battery life stealing slow garbage, so I'm obviously going to need help with which Roms are recommended for newbs like myself. I remember before I turned on my wing for the last time, in order to install a cooked rom I needed it to be hardspl'd. Is there something similar to that with this phone?
I can't wait to see what WinMo software has to offer after my 2 year absence. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks for the help!!!

Welcome back, you certainly picked the right phone to enter the fold again!
THIS thread (a sticky in this forum) has some great reference links to the kinds of stuff you'll need when starting out, incluing instructions on HardSPL and flashing for this device. One that's particularly useful is THIS link to a list of stuff that was extracted from the euro version of the phone, so you can add any of them that you want, that didn't get included in the T-mobile US version

Whoa thanks for the Quick reply. I'm starting the long night of research now. Thanks for the help mate

Hey everyone! could use some help.

Hey guys, I'd like to introduce myself first. I usually go by "Thewaffle1" on most forums, dont ask how I came up with it haha. I'm very new to the HD2 community, but not so new to the whole "phone hacking" scene or whatever you want to call it. I used to have an iphone for a long time and I jailbroke it and customized it and all that jazz.
As of two days ago, I bought my very own HTC HD2, and am so far very happy with it. I must say though, I know there are many things I have yet to do on this phone because Im afraid im going to mess it up, or "brick" it. I come to you today for some guidance; Are there any threads I should read besides the stickies?
I kept reading about this .net microsoft compact framework thing, and I installed it on my PC but im not too sure what it does or how to use it.
I also have now idea how to install it on my Phone either.
I would greatly appreciate it if any of you fine folks here could set me off on the right path.
Thank you very much for your troubles,
Waffle.
Welcome on XDA sir! (join the group)
Like you mention it's useful to start with reading the sticky threads.
On this thread most of the simply but most in commend questions new users ask are bean treat, so take a look on it.

After that there is one important rule; "reading and following the informations mention in each post"
Maybe you will say this is obvious, but I must say the most of the problems that users make is by not following the instructions.
I hope this helps you, if you have more specific questions just ask.
As kurt said.... Welcome to XDA......
For ways to install .net framework look here....
You dont "use it" as such........ its something that is just there because it needs to be if you know what I mean....... once its installed you dont need to really think about it ever again.........
most custom ROMS will come with it cooked in anyway and if you had your old iPhone jailbroken your probably the kind of person thats going to want to flash a custom rom at some point........
Thanks for the replys guys!
So i have the .net thing install on my PC, how do I install it on my Phone?
and once i do have it installed I can just drag and drop all sorts of roms onto my phone or what?
