Best Voice Apps - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Just wonder what voice apps are out there. I just recently tried Cybertron Voice Commander 2.0, but it seems to have issues picking up what I'm saying. Any one have some recommends with other voice apps out there???

Can you please post this type of question the General>General forum, instead of General>Development and Hacking
?
I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, just saying...
Anyway, try Microsoft's Voice Command. I know, I know, just ignore that it's from Microsoft. Haha. Vito has an app called Voice2Go, that's another option, but I like Voice Command.

I use Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 UK version. It RTFO since the last version, they have really improved it. It even listens to me when I am drunk and swearing at it. Best one out there in my opinion. Reads your SMS's out to you too if you want. Full of win.

Voice Command all the way! You can, for the most part, completely control the device (open apps, get a read back of your appts for the day, media player) so I say go buy it.

I'm using voice commander now, but it has a hard time picking up what i'm saying. I find myself having to yell. I like how it has the option to use voice tags, it helps a bit, but it still has trouble when i try to get it to read me my appointments. i'm using voice commander 2.0 right now, i found it on this forum.

+1 for M$ Voice Command...

What's the diff between UK and US version??

I am using MS Voice Command and continually amazed by its performance. MS hit a homerun with this one!
Good luck

Hi again,
Unfortunately, as I have never owned the US version, I could not tell you. I can only say that I am an Australian with an Australian accent and it picks up everything I say perfectly.

The latest US version in the ROMs and Kitchens is v1.6.19209. What is your UK version number? (It's displayed on the main MSVC screen.)

Cool!
So tell me one thing, do you have to hit the button on the mobile each time to issue a command? Just wondering if it can sit dominant and not require you to hit a button first?

You need to press a button to attract its attention. This can be a button on a bluetooth headset, which is where the software really comes into its own.
Voice Command Xperia - Problem
Hi all VC working except that it does not read out the number/name on incoming calls. All the right boxes are ticked in the options as I have used MSVC for the past two years. Can anyone confirm this working or not on your Xperias. I have tried all the version for 6.1 roms. Thanks all.
I know this problem has been in existence for years (Tytn). See other threads for this problem on XDA, sorry, can't provide link at this time.

VC 1.6
or go to tpb... where i got it... (im the dude in the video)
In t-mobile version in germany there is an other voice dialing system already installed. I forget the name but this must program must be trained therefore you have to speak a word or some words and associate this with a number/command.
This tool was already used on the tmobile ameo and for me it worked not very good. The recognition of named was not very good when many named has been trained.
The windows mobile voice command solution is much better and works fine on my x1 .
I saw the youtube video and was very surprised because I didn't know the features for music playing. Maybe I have to look for them. I have the german 1.6 version intalled.
best regards,
stefan

Voice Dialling

Really happy with the Hero but can't live without voice dialling for driving. Anyone got a good solution?
Yeah, I'd really be interested in this too, as I am so used to Voice Command on my former Touch HD.

Me too! would love something like voice command on my Hero.
there is a voice control in teh market, but it seems to only work properly if you speak v...e...r....y slowly, or in a southern US drawl.
scarlett o'hara would have no problem, but it doesn't seem to like my London/Dorset abomination of an English accent!
The app I think you are referring to is call TopVoiceControl which also allows you to activate other settings/open apps using your voice....
When you are installing it the app requires a TTS Service to be installed (well it did on my G2) You can set this TTS service to a UK English setting.
That said..... it seems to be very hit and miss and you do have to pronounce your words correctly.... not ideal...
Having seen the adverts for the iPhone 3GS with Voice activation I'd like to know if it is indeed as good as the ad or if it works when you are rattling along in your car?
It would be nice to see some further development in this area.
I'm new to Android but I believe that the G1 had a voice dialer which has since disappeared on 'Cupcake'. Can any one shed any light on this? Did it work?

No idea about in a car but certainly in a quieter environment two different people with the 3gs have both told me it dosnt just retry / fail most of the time to recognise the spoken contact name, instead it just picks a random contact to call instead.
I wanna know too if there's a solution because I wanna use bluetooth headset dialing.
Perhaps the feature will be restored via a custom rom soon.
Dragging up a slightly old topic I know... but isn't there even voice tagging on the Hero?

Wm 6.5 Voice commands

Hi, does WM6.5 come with voice commands or does it need another bit of software like 6?
Thanks

The HTC Pure WinMo6.5 comes stock with voice command.
That is one thing I lost by "upgrading" to a cooked ROM
and by the way, the Voice Command is useless. My Sanyo in year 2001 was about just as good. In other words, don't sweat it.
Now if somebody can get the iphone 3gs voice control dump into a cab that can be used with Win Mo 6.5, that would be cool.
Thanks i thought so but some news articles said otherwise.
I better see if ms voice commander works on 6.5 before upgrading.
i know it may be poor but it allows me to call ppl on the handfree.

4 out of 5 times, the voice command would come back "Please repeat"...wtf!
In other words, handsfree soon turned into unwanted frustration.
On the 3gs, 5 out of 5 times it picked the right contact to dial.
Ways to go before I recommend voice command to anybody.
I've not had that problem - maybe 1 in 20 but then ive not got many names that are similar.
Only home and moe get confused..
Did you run the us or uk version of vc?

Speech Text Messaging?

Ok, so my city recently passed a huge ban on cell phone use while driving. I know I can have my phone reac any new message to me wehn it is received and I currently have it set up to do so. However, I have heard of other phone coming with a speech to text feature. Is there a wway to get something like this on the TPS where I can speak the reply to a text and be able to send it that way?
I don't know of any specific apps that do this, but I'm sure they're out there considering Bling and Google Maps have this technology.
I dont recomend trying to text while driving & dont like applications where you use voice commands but you should try this one
Code:
http://vitotechnology.com/voice2go.html
(not free but you could try the tial) it lets you control your whole phone by voice and you could add custom commands but im not sure if you could set it up to reply to sms.
ps: by the way nice to see another member from el paso

Thanks for this...I will give it a shot. Not only is it nice to see another member from ELP but also nice to see another person with a TP2!!! I have only seen a couple here in town!
This would be a very cool feature! I am interested in this also. Can anybody help out with this?
microsoft tell me
i had it on my phone ported from i think a samsung device.
it didnt fit too well with the screen resolution and whatnot, but it worked.
although it doesn't work if you have an accent or if you want to send messages to someone who has a rather unusual name
i went to a At&T store for help with something with a friend, he had and still has a verizon blackberry curve but anyways one of the associates there had a blackberry and showed him a whole buch of apps he got from a certian website (dont remember what it was) and one of them was a talk to text app and it work almost perfectly. ive been searcing for an app like that for windows mobile ever since then and that was almost 2 yrs ago!!!! i also just found out a few days ago from my girlfriend that theres a app like that for her iphone. i seriously dont know what microsoft is doin but they need to step their game up and to all the developers out there, you need to beat them to the punch!!!
Read email to you - what app?
What app are you using to have your HTC read email to you?

Didn't pick up on the SMS part. Looking for an app to read/speak email messages(non-SMS). Especially, would be nice to be able to filter by sender, subject, etc.
Ok, so I found a few cabs for TellMe, but they all crash shortly after launching. Any ideas?
im interested in this tell me app so someone respond to miked79928 please!!!

I use TellMeText Version 1.1.0 on my Rhodium Touch Pro 2. It installs and works okay. If the installation crashes, the best thing is to redownload it until it works fine. Also try the app on different ROMS.
I have used it on ARK_N's ROMS as well as on Leo Cell ROMS.
Make sure (I think) you install BlondieSoft_MobileCertificates cab prior to the intallation of the TellMeText cab.
Hopefully this should help.
Why not sooner.
If someone can rip the install from the Samsung Intrepid I think we can get something going.
The only other option is Vlingo and it is buggy at best, you can search the forums and people have had spotty success with it.
This could be a real difference breaker at this point in time in the Mobile Phone wars, I don't know why someone hasn't jumped on it and capitalized, tons of apps already use voice recognition (bing, google) for driving directions, I don't know why in a world where people are dieing left and right from txting while driving someone hasn't jumped on this.

The tell me ap works for some and not for others.. I believe it has something to do with the carrier you are with. That said.. you guys are probably better of going over to the tell me thread and reading through that to figure out how to get it working on your phone. I personally gave up. It would install fine on multiple roms I was running and as soon as I would to go speak a text to it it would just hang then give me some error.
Regardless... no sense in having multiple threads about the same thing!
Do a search in the Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps forum and you'll find it.

TellMe does not work for AT&T customers on their network on anything but BlackBerry. I ran a packet trace and the packets leave the phone but there is NO response.
WiFi works fine but how often are you on WiFi on the go?
You need to install microsoft voice command FIRST then this. Just search, the cabs are posted.

Bluetooth Voice Dialing for 2.1

This is an official request. I am practically begging. Can someone make Google Voice work with BT, such that I can TRUE voice dial without having to touch my phone. This has been possible for many years now on other platforms. I had it when I carried a Blackberry, I had it with a Razor, I had it with my MotoQ with Winmo, pretty much evry device I have owned except my Andoid powered Hero.
I know that someone can make it reality. It is a shame that an advanced platform like Android does not have this capability.
BTW, I am not interested in touching the phone to dial a number and I dont want to buy a Blue Ant or Jawbone and store a limited number of contacts for voice dialing.
"We have the technology, we can rebuild him" From the Six Million Dollar Man series.
Wooo hooo , I second that.
Have u tried Vlingo? It is great at voice dialing as well as voice commands but I have never tried it with bluetooth. Just search for it on here and try it out. The apk is floating around on this forum somewhere.
Thanks

I will try it today and post back the results.
As far as I know, Vlingo requires touching your phone to activate it. that said, it is great for sending text messages without having to type anything (you can even tell it who to send the message or email to). Voice recognition has been very accurate in my experiences as well.
+1 on something that allows you to activate voice dialing by only using the headset (hell, even the InstinKt could do that)
The Android OS currently does not support voicedialing by BT. The Jawbone ICON website has an app for voicedialing but they state that it won't work on Android. They have two links posted with more info on why it isn't supported:
