Hackers needed: new MIDlet Manager with BT support! - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Just received this on my blog ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=2266&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ):
Hi,
...did you notice that the free navigation application nav4all at http://www.nav4all.com is also using a midlet manager for smartphones? It supplies Fullscreen, Bluetooth and Cleartype support but is unfortunately tightly linked to this single application. Do you know any way to get this decoupled? The midlet manager is called AIMSmidp.exe and I could not find any reference around the internet for this one. I did some primitve renaming of files to trick it - but no success.

Blooover Hacking Bluetooth with Windows Smartphone

Hi i wanted to use Bloover (http://trifinite.org/trifinite_stuff_blooover.html) on my Smartphone but it doesn't work.
I downloaded WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment MIDP 2.0 so i thought it has to work...all Midlets are working now, but only Blooover can't start. If somebody is interested in this programme and can use this programm, please send me some infos what I need, too.
MIDP 2.0 and something else?

Same problem, doesn't work in my Atom
Any idea?
I get
"Invalid java archive"
LOL how many times does it have to be said,
Snarfing is a pipe dream !!!
most phones are protected against this kinda thing now (providing someone even has bluetooth on) and theres no garentee that you will have the address book access to get entries outa it.
besides the fact why would you want to,
i know, why dont you just randomly send text messages in random ranges of mobile numbers, its basically the same thing.
Pipedream or not, he may have his reasons.. Maybe he's targeting a specific person, with a specific phone and/or settings

CIHwBT is a Bluetooth Security Framework for Windows Mobile 2005. Currently it only support some bluetooth exploits and tools like BlueSnarf, BlueJack, and some DoS attacks. It is intended to work with any pocketpc with Microsoft Bluetooth Stack.
Let us know how it works

help
how to use CIHwBT?
your jvm has to be jsr-82 compliant to use blooover (or any other app that wants to access bluetooth via java).
That's probably the reason its not working. I have been trying to find a work around for my phone to use a midlet that requires bluetooth through java but its almost impossible to get help on it.
I found a nice program for this for some month ago. The name of the program is Bluezzard works with my qtek 9100.
Hope this helped. Im intrested in this stuff, so if someone find anything intresting about this, please post it.
Waste Of Time
Did a lot of research into BlueJacking and everything related after watching an Episode of The Real Hustle
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/programmes/real_hustle/
Pretty much led me on a wild goose chase. Discovered that these Bluejacking programs were made for the first versions of Bluetooth. The new versions of Bluetooth make the conventional methods of BlueJacking quite impossible. But I'm sure out there somewhere there is a room full of hackers out to prove me wrong.
Any one with a working BT hacking app please??
I'm new to all this stuff, so working info for newbie would be greately appreciated.
I'd really like to get this working on my phone: http://trifinite.org/trifinite_stuff_carwhisperer.html
Unfortunately we'll need to get linux to load first...

[Universal Owners] Please upload Comm Manager For Wiz Users

The wireless manager in the universal seems to have the Phone Off,BT,Wifi and all off.
While the Manager in the wizard has Vibrate,Ring,Wifi,BT and activesync.
Can we get the universals manager on the wizard?
vbguru613: I doubt there's any reason why you couldn't do a rom rip and move it across. But why Universal to Wizard? Wizard's sounds better.
I kinda made a command line utility to replace the manager, given VGA difficulties of the manager on the Uni. But Wizard's could be much more interesting.
V
can you send me the CommManager from the universal?
I'll try to get to it, but I'm not near my home PC until later today. If anyone else has got a copy, jump in!
If you've got it at hand, wanna trade me your Wizard's manager
V
I need the Universal comm manager too. I dont see the point of turning on vibration in an application called COMM manager!!
Comm Manager Wizard
Here it is.
If you have a universal please do the same.
To developer guru's I suggest:
ON/OFF:
- Phone
- WiFi
- BT
- IR
- Proxy
and maybe: - sound ON/OFF (Ring/Vibrate)
I think will be a good APP.
arp - I've got a new app I'm working on, VJBlooToof (temporary name, maybe). A couple of guys are trying it out right now, but it's basically going to be an interface to most comms stuff.
I haven't added proxy and vibra, but I'll look into it. Also some other hacks not mentioned on your list
V
VJ,
I think You can do it! Will be a great program!
Names: VJComm; VJCManager; VJAllComm (I like first!)
Do you develop in VB? What toll?
Thanks
Arp - I develop in c++ unfortunately. It's not for people who want to keep their hair until they are 30  It can be very frustrating, but I'm getting used to it slowly. (on the PC I develop in VB, if I need to write any quick programs.)
Hmm, the names are too obvious  I'm thinking of VJVolubilis.
It started out as a small app I made to test VJElectrify (programs to test bluetooth/voice command on the Universal). I put some other functions into it, but I will use the code in some other apps that control communications. But for me, at least, it's useful to have access and control over all communications functions in one place.
V
[Universal Owners] Please upload here
Just tried to copy Comm Manager from my Exec but it won't let me (Access denied). How can I get past this?
can you explore your universal from active sync and in the windows folder can you "Copy" it to your desktop and then upload from your desktop.
No, that's what I tried to do - it won't let me copy anything from the Windowsdirectory - either through Active Sync or on my device Any ideas would be great!
can you copy from your device to somewhere other then the windows directory internally using REsco or file explorer.
Or maybe the file is running. you have to end the process to copy it use the attached file (copy to device and run it) and end the process tree of commngr.exe and then copy it.
Tried resco, tried the task manager, tried renaming the file, all with no success. There has to be a way!
did you end the task (process tree)?
yeah, still wont copy
Uni WirelessMgr
Here you go guys.
Not sure if it'll work due to ripping procedure, but let me know.
V
VB: CommManager.exe doesn't seem to work. Does it have associated dlls?

Tutorial: How to create a shortcut to a specific midlet

I asked a few days back if this was possible and ended up e-mailing back and forth with a guy at TAO and he showed me how to do it after we figured out that the wizards java manager could handle it.
This is what he told me (I'll explain it all afterwards):
-r"<suite>","<vendor>","<name>"
where:
<suite> is the name of the MIDlet suite and can be obtained from the
MIDlet-Name line in the jad file.
<vendor> is the name of the MIDlet vendor and can be obtained from the
MIDlet-Vendor line in the jad file.
<name> is the name of the MIDlet and can be obtained from the first
parameter to the relevant MIDlet-<n> line in the jad file.
the shortcut to the manager program is \windows\jmm.exe, so a specific link would be \windows\jmm.exe -r"<suite>","<vendor>","<name>"
To find all of the information you need, you need the .jar or .jad file on your computer.
1. Open the .jar(.jad) file with winrar or 7zip or other unzipping program
2. Open the META-INF folder
3. Open the MANIFEST.MF file with a document viewer, I used wordpad.
Here's what google local gave me: I've bolded what you need to know
Manifest-Version: 1.0
MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.0
MIDlet-Name: Google Local
Created-By: 1.5.0_04-b05 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
Ant-Version: Apache Ant 1.6.2
MIDlet-Vendor: Google
MIDlet-1: Google Local, GoogleMapsIcon.png, com.google.googlenav.Googl
eNav
MIDlet-Version: 1.0.0
MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.0
4. Create a shortcut to the java manager(\windows\jmm.exe) on your ppc and open it for editing. I used Total Commander for this.
5. Remember that the shortcut has to be in -r"<MIDlet-1>","<MIDlet-Vendor>","<MIDlet-name>", so here, the full path should be \Windows\jmm.exe -r"Google Local","Google","Google Local"
6. Now you can link that to a button or put it in a launcher. When activated, the link will open the manager first, then the midlet.
Opera mini is \Windows\jmm.exe -r"Opera Mini","Opera Software ASA","Opera Mini"
I dont know how to link icons, so if someone could help me with that, I'd appreciate it. Now, all the links have the MIDlet manager icon.
I'd also love to hear what other cool midlets people are using.
Excellent information! Now I can link to Google Local from my Today screen with Pocket Plus!
Brilliant! I was looking for this exact information . Checked around on the Tao site but didn't find any documentation.
Changing the icon is done by adding the following to the end of the shortcut:
?\Program Files\Opera\opera.exe,0
The number is the n'th icon in the .exe file find out which using a resource hack tool. But it's usually 0 or one of the first ones, so simply try it out a few times. The two midlets I have come with their own icon displayed in the manager, and I found this file as a PNG image inside the Application Data directory, under Tao and then ever deeper down you'll find it.
But using png as icon didn't work for me. I'm guessing it needs to be converted to ICO or even BMP. Haven't had time to try that out yet.
And for the last part of your post, these are the cool midlets I'm using
Opera Mini - http://opera.mini.com (You obviously know this one)
MidpSSH - http://xk72.com/midpssh (Excellent freeware SSH client)
works with newmenu by saman as well thanks for the tip.
btw any more cool midlets for ppcs? the only thing i have so far is opera :|
I noticed the shortcut only works if you've run the applet atleast once. Otherwise only Midlet Manager opens up. Not really a big deal though
Question?
Is there a way to do this with IBM's Java Midlet Manager. I tried the syntax listed here and it doesn't work. It opens up the midelet manager, then closes right away.
BTW, this thing is case sensitive. I tried GMail and it didn't work.
This is for Gmail. Copy paste and enjoy.
46#"\Windows\jmm.exe" -r"Gmail", "Google", "Gmail"

The answer to your question is HERE
You have to thank the author of the article and the great Menneisyys for posting the link in this post
Bye
(Hopefully) final MIDlet Bible main feature & hack & standards compliance chart published!
It was yesterday that I’ve published a larger excerpt from my forthcoming MIDlet Bible (a full roundup & tutorial explaining what MIDlets are, why you would want to run them, what applications there are to do this etc.), focusing on mostly 3D games. I haven’t been lazy in the meantime: I’ve made some serious updates to the main feature & hack & standards compliance chart of the Bible. The reason I’m posting it as a preview is pretty simple: it will still take me some two or three days to completely finish and, finally, publish the MIDlet Bible. In the meantime, however, you can already check out the new chart. I’m absolutely sure you’ll find it useful if you’re into gaming or running probably the, after Opera Mobile, second best Web Browser for Windows Mobile, Opera Mini 4 beta 2. Or, alternatively, the really unique and useful Gmail MIDlet, which is far more usable than any other Windows Mobile mailer tool.
I’ve, as has already been stated, greatly enhanced the previous version published over a month ago. I’ve added discussions of ClearType / font smoothing, automatic network connection, proxies, text input fields / areas etc. and I’ve even published the source code (!) of some of my test MIDlets I’ve written specifically for these tests. (I’m a Java pro.)
The chart is HERE, should you want to check it out before I, finally, publish the MIDlet Bible.
Comments are REALLY welcome!
Try this:
60#"\Windows\jmm.exe" -r"Opera Mini","Opera Software ASA","Opera Mini"
my opera mini link works great using jbed and the permissions fix, BUT...
I want to know if it is possible to make a link to a page (favorite/speedial #1) within opera. I have some shortcuts for PIE (default browser) on my today screen and wondered if I could do the same with opera pages without opera being my default browser. I have seen some shortcut creators that look interesting, but I am not sure about what path this link would need.
Any ideas?
thanks

jbed permissions fix is at the bottom of this page...

Does anyone have this working with the ne Opera Mini 4.1? Latest Jbed.
hey can someone turn this into english for me haha sorry. i wanna get opera 4.1 shortcut into launcher. im not good at this stuff unless there is a step by step for dummies
I downloaded the latest 4.1 and it works great... Because I downloaded the new version before I deleted the previous version, I had to change my shortcut to point to r1 not r0. The new version has permissions fix already added I believe.
Everything is working brilliantly

**UPDATED** MIDlet manager

i will give credit to risidoro for this one.. and im lazy som im just going to copy/paste. original post can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1079560&posted=1#post1079560
This new MIDlet Manager comes from the new HTC Herald ROM, version 1.2.405
This new version is JTWI 1.0 compliant and SUPPORTS Google's SATELLITE Maps (of course, you need to download Google Maps' client from www.google.com/gmm
This release also supports sending SMSs from Opera Mini 3.0 (mini.opera.com)!!!
Some Details about the program:
Developer: Intent
Name: MIDlet Manager
Version: 11.1.7.1023
Build: 20060907
JWTI v.1.0 Compliance!
------- HOW TO INSTALL ------------
- download the zip archive from:
Risidoro_Intent_MIDlet_Manager_v11.zip
- extract the cab (inside the archive) somewhere in your PC (e.g. Desktop)
- copy to somewhere in your PocketPC (e.g. \storage card)
- in your PocketPC, navigate with File Manager to the cab and tap on it to install
- when asked, choose to install in the Device (and NOT in Storage Card!)
- reboot when asked
PS: It can be installed over previous version (or in roms where the old midlet is included)!
-------- COMPATIBILITY ---------------
So far, i've only tested it with the midlets i use the most.
- Google Maps runs fine. Satellite maps are supported!!!
- Opera Mini 3.0 runs OK too and supports SMS sending. Even softkeys works! Photo blog feature, however, is not supported
- Mobile GMaps, beta 1.30.08 http://wap.mgmaps.com/ simply wonderful. Sat images for google and yahoo maps.
Does this replace the MIDP manager suplied by default on the phone? Can I use both once this is installed?
(I'm using an Orange branded M3100 with the Intent Midlet Manager, v10.1.7.559 if that matters. I guess thats the same on all hermes devices.)
Thanks,
Sam

Wowz! Great news! Thanks! I post a link to this thread to all PPC forums / my blog!
Congrats on number 4 Shogun!
I hate to high jack a thread but...
Is there a launch command to put at the end of the .exe file to lauch to start the midlet manager and launch a midlet.
Found my answer and here it is incase anyone else wants to launch midlets from a shortcut. Works for me on iLauncher.
jmm.exe -r"suite","vendor","name" runs Opera Mini and Google Maps for me.
If I try to put the whole line in quotes "name, vendor, name" - it doesn't launch the midlet - only JMM.exe.
You can run any midlet that you have installed. You can find the parameters such as a midlet name and the exact vendor name in Application Data\Tao\intent\app\jam\midlets\midlets.db. I just repeat the midlet name instead of the suite.
Just installed 11.1.7.1023 on my 8525. I first got a system message "access denied"... Oh yeah... I guess I should close MIDlet first
2nd try (once I had a cup of coffee and turned on my brain) install went A-OK. Opera Mini gave me an error and would not connect to anything. I uninstalled the midlet and re-installed and now everything is working. GMaps is faster than map4pda. Softkey functions work as advertised. Thanks for this update!
Install failed
I tried installing it on my MDA Vario II and received the following error
"Installation was unsucessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions." Any suggestions?
Thanks
Richard

Developping a bluetooth gateway on htc hd2 to interface blutooth keyboard BK600

Greetings,
sorry to post again, but it seems that i posted in a wrong place (htc hd2 forum), because this post adress a wm software development.
So, this is the problem : I'm stuck with my old BK600 (com one, but omiz and freedom kb rebranded)
There are new keyboard (expensive), news driver (not working), future drivers (never going to be released), so as i'm a software developper, i wasn't really glad to abandon and to buy another. The problem is that've never made a driver for windows mobile, and i'm not specialized on bluetooth, so be indulgent...
After searching internet and seeing some articles, i've been on broadcom site (they're doin' the bt stack, so it's normal to go on their site ... guess what ...
i've downloaded the bluetooth stack sdk)
As i develop under linux, but also under windows, i've a visual studio 2008 installed. I compiled the Spp (probably serial port) sample, and without any driver the keyboard paired, negociated a serial port and the monitor show byte received when typing on the keyboard.
So now, if someone know some place to find tutorials to write windows phone driver, i take.
I also would like to discuss about another approch.
What would you think to transcode the keyboard code received in a thread and to redirect them on standard input ? would it be possible ?
Anyway, my needs are very simple, just a bluetooth kb to type on it, no extra functions, ...
Regards, and thanks you for your answers and help.
CLS.
Hi, it seems that there already is such a software, see:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLRXSBcu6WI
It is stated that it also supports bluetooth keyboards and mouses.
HI radhoo,
they seems to have a problem to release the software (5-6 month they say they're going to), but nothing
on this page : http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=blueinput&tab=download
you click on this link http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=blueinputbroadcom
and you get on this broken page :
http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=blueinputbroadcom
as you see on the xda-forums
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628538&page=2
we are a lot to wait for this software, but nothing.
that's why i'm trying to do a little piece of software (which i'll consolide after i think)
I'm taking the base of the broadcom/widcom stack, and my approach will be to transcode chars to stdin.
It seems that there is a C# wrapper, so it think that i'll recode in c#
anyway,
thanks for answering and long life to xda-dev (very useful)
Ludovic.
work status
- have found a c# wrapper of widcom dll (recompiled) : works bu ti'm rewritting some part of the wrapper as it seems to lacks some feature
- in parallel : working on c++ legacy broadcom sample (works perfectly now with my keyboard, bind with com port done, receiving "things"
now struggling with threads to pump messages and transcode.
If you have something that gets the basic keyboard working, I'd love to test it out.
if your driver is ready for testing, please send me a beta of it for testing on my htc hd2
thanks
I have a same problem .
CLS have u finish your program already? please
I would like to use BK600 on my htc hd mini too
hi, how far did you get?
still at it...?
lots of succes, vicenza
