I had something similar going on last year when I was on vacation in Spain.
I connected my Qtek S200 via an adapter to the cigarette lighter. Suddenly the light turned red. Never saw it before, I think the circuitboard in the adapter broke and so my Qtek got 12 Volt! The battery went extremely hot also.
Disconnected and bought a new adapter. Problem solved.
i using original charger and charger is ok , i have changed batery and problem is same,i have re-instaled windows mobile but no way......

Problems with charger physical connection may be?
Your cat or wifey plugging off (even slightly) the plug out of the power socket.
Or may be charger cable loose in the mini-USB slot on Universal?
Did the amber charging light also go out?
the htc shows charging but noting happens.
orange light is on
As I've noticed, charging is handled by ROM. When you reset your device it doesn't start until Windows Mobile greeting blue screen is displayed.
If the amber light is on, everything's fine on the physical part.
I suggest you soft reset your device and try charging again -- could be the piece of software responsible for charging hung or went into instable state.
Hello, I was going to use my prophet after six monts or so.
The battery is fully discharged , I plug it to charge with the wall charger of my htc touch (i don´t have the charger of the prophet). Well, it was charging all night long, and in the monrning, the red light still on...
I tried boot loader, hord reset etc and all I know, and it does´t turn on!
I also tried to plug out battery for some hours and try to turn on...anything works.
and, if I connect the prophet whitout battery, the red light turns on.
What can I do? Battery have 5V, It´s charged i think...
thanks a lot!
had similar problem, but if you can turn on your prophet when its charging and only boot screen appears-change the battery!
I can´t turn on at all...
The only idea that I have is put the 5v from the ac charger into the s200 directly...
same problem
Did you get a solution for your problem?
Mine does the same.
Stays black, can't power on, no orange light for charging.
I tried a new battery, same problem.
Red light stays on for 5 seconds on power, then also dies.
Hi all! Sorry in advance for my bad English.
I have a Qtek9100 with WM5. G4 IPL/SPL 2.21.0001
Now I'm experiencing a problem charging my device.
I had a miniUSB problem some months ago, when my device accidently fall from the desk, when it was charging. The charger get damaged, and the port miniUSB on the PDA as well, and it only charged in a position, making pressure on the miniUSB. Replaced the charger because it's not the only Wizard at home and my dad welded (I think it's how it should be said, but for translation problem I want to mean stick the miniUSB to mainboard like... "glue'ing" it) =$
It worked fine! First days but then, when I link it to charger the device show the icon charging, charging bar is moving normaly, but when the green led turn on. Battery Icon show it's full, but when unplugged it from the charger, the battery icon decrease a lot, like 20% or less.
Sometimes, when it's charging when I pick the Wizard, it's turned off, and the RED led is on. Like when it's fully charged, but RED!
Do you think it's a hardware problem? Mainboard? If it's a hardware problem at the Official Qtek store, They'll ask for more than the commercial value for the repair!
I love my Wizard. Can't get used with another mobile phone!
Please help me!
Thanks a lot in advance.
Regards, skrpn.
Hi !
I searched already around the forum, but I didn't find anything for my problem:
Yesterday my device turned off because of low battery (while listening music), then I tried to charge it with the original charger over night. Today in the morning the device was not charged but the amber/organge LED was blinking.
When I put on the charger the red led turns on, after a few seconds the amber led starts blinking then after a few minutes the led turns again red an then again blinking amber and so on ...
I can boot up Windows mobile bu after a few secounds the deivce turns off an then again red led an blinking amber ...
I did a softreset and a hardreset but still no charging.
I tried another battery from a neighbour, the device works fine, but still a blinking amber led (not always-on) when connect on the charger.
Can anybody help me ?
Sorry for my bad english ..
Have you tried using your friend's phone charger?
The problem has been discussed. It is known as the RLOD (Red light of Death) and is reported against many different phones and brands. It is likely a fault in:
1
The phones charging circuit
OR
2
A faulty battery
OR
3 A faulty USB port (bent pin or cracked solder joint)
OR
4
A cracked solder joint between the battery connector and m/board
In my experience it is most likely to be a faulty (stuck) charging circuit.
The following link may be useful, and it is worth persevering. I once had a phone that took several days to get started again:

Mike
@gypsygirl: I tried two different chargers which are working fine which another device (xda neo)
@mikechannon:
I think its a problem with the charging circut or the usb port (otherwise the data connection works when connected to the pc).
I tried the battery from my friend with 90 % battery left and put on the charger and ist doesn't start charging, only blinking amber ...
I guess I will buy an external cradle for charging the battery, not the best way, but so i can use the device ...
When there is any solution for a cracked charging circut, i will try it out ...
Thanks for help
