I changed the registry so the left soft key would open messaging.exe
How would I go about making it automatically open Text/Multimedia?

It is definately doable throught the registry, but i have found that if you use the soft key changer you can change them whenever you want without haveing to do a registry edit. Do a search for soft key changer and install it on the phone. Afterward do a soft reset and go to your settings and it will be in there. Its super simple and very convenient.

Hey guys hope everyone is doing ok today, just got a quick question about the soft keys. I have just flashed my ROM to RUU_Molski.Biz_226102_22610105_022511_G4_WWE its an excellent rom and would recommend it!
Just one thing tho i have CoPilot the sat nav prog on here and i like to set it to the left soft key so i can just load it quickly. Since i flashed the ROM when i press the left soft key it says "error opening shortcut or locating target filename" just wondering if anyone knows how i could fix this?
Many thanks
More info required.
How to you set the softkey? program or via registry hack? value?
well i set the softkey through the little softkey thing in settings and co pilot was in the list ok it just doesn't seem to work when i click the softkey. Is it a reg setting i need to change?
That is weird, the softkey software should work perfectly. Unless you move the thing away from the application start menu.
Anyway, take a look at the wiki at
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other
On the section "Change the application launched by Today screen Soft Keys"
For your case, set it up using the Softkey application, and go into the registry (with any reg edit software) and look at the value of
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open
See what is the value being set to.
If it is set to the shortcut, try setting it to the exact EXE file.
hello guys..when i had wm5 i had also spb mobile shell and i could change the soft key buttons...now i have wm6 but i cant find any similar program to change my soft keys...any ideas GUysZzz??
Try the file I attached... Just unrar, copy the cpl file to windows folder in your device and then go to Settings -> System... There will be a new option called Soft Key where you can change the soft key button assignment
doesnt work i replaced it with notes but still when i press notes calendar appear:/..
navigate to this registry then replace the open value data with notes exe file:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112
anyone tried it?
Great application! Thanks for creating it. This is why we buy Windows Mobile - the customization.
I have change the right soft key to the tmail.exe in order to quickly acces the messages, but can't it be done so I instantanously have created a new message via the right soft key? Any good suggestions?

thanks this worked perfect on my treo pro
Hi guys, I've tried editing my registry with regards to the A2DP issue with several softwares. Unfortunately, after rebooting the Trin (reset @ bottom of device), all changes I make seem to have disappeared.
I've used both Total commander and PHM as registry editor on the device itself and MobileRegistryEditor as a remote registry editor.
With the onboard reg editors I can make keys and add values but after reboot the entries have gone.
With the remote reg editor I can browse the reg without problems but get an access denied message when I attempt to edit anything...
For some reason or other I was able to add a MinSupportedBitPool setting one time. Don't know what was different that time around though.
Deleting keys also works as they stay gone once deleted.
It's just adding the keys that is making me go mad!!!

Thx ww2250, I didn't know this...
I had discovered meanwhile that if I used the reset option in the Trinityhacks app, I could make the changes stick, so this soft reset would be similar to holding down the power button apparantly.
Thx again
Yes indeed if you are doing a software reset, it will stick - the OS will flush the registry before restarting.
Is there any way to change the left lower soft-key on sense-home screen?
yes, use advanced config - push on menu - more settings - key mapping and you can change the left and right softkeys.

which version of advanced config?
anyone know which registry keys are changed to map left soft key?
The following register keys will change the left softkey into Camera:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila]
"HomeLSKArguments"=""
"HomeLSKPath"="windows\camera.exe"
"HomeLSKText"="Camera"
You can change it into anything you like.
Can you please write the standard entry for the volume adjustments?
Somehow they have been erased. I can jump into the volume menu, but not adjust it with pressing up or down, instead i jump back to where I were.
Thanks
I suppose leaving the enty blank will restore original settings?
I than have a problem with the gfreek 6 taskbar i guess.
Is there a known solution? Or any other hints?
Hi,
any known side effect in changing the left soft key from PHONE to anything else?
I have the HD2 with ROM 172WWE.
I changed the registry entries as you decribed above, nothing changed with the soft key.
Still shows phone.
No much point in having 'phone' or even the top left start menu when we have the hard buttons.
I'll do more searching on start button and also soft keys.

You can change the function of the two Manila Home screen soft keys in this place in the registry:
\HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\
Use HomeLSKPath to change the (path to the) function that the left soft key launches and HomeRSKPath to change the function that the right soft key launches. The respective _______Text registry entries change the label on the keys.
i personally dont like to mess with the registry so i try to avoid that, but i did some searching and found Advanced Config utility. Gets the job done. thanks for your help
