HTC Home weather plugin help. - Wing, P4350 General

the weather part of the htc home plugin never retrieves info for me. I even try different cities. always fails to retrieve data. is it because im using the 5.99 tzones proxy setup for the internet? if that's not the problem then does anyone have a solution to this problem im having?

Wich ROM are you using?
If we know that we could help you further.
If your using the standard ROM, here is the Weatherpatched version of HTC Home Screen
Couldn't upload since im at work.. working late hours.

man, I have ttrans 4.0 biggy rom and I have it working with the proxy myself. it took a while and others said they had success by just entering there info in HTC home customizer that they loaded on there phone. I had to go to N2A's website and follow the step he outlined with a registry hack and a patched home plugin. google (N2A weather patcher) and you can find the info there.

same here, i use ASERG.12.WM6.1E.WWE on a wing, just says error downloading from site

Hi.
In PIE go to Menu>Tools>options>security
Mike
Cheers. I tried that and it cleared my cookies (well, I presume that it did since I had to re-enter my log-in details at the problem website) but it didn't solve my problem.
FWIW my problem site is Facebook - or the mobile Facebook site m.facebook.com. When I try to log-in it just loops the log-in screen. Don't suppose anyone else has had this problem?

Yes - I went through the process and found the same issue. I think their mobile site is perhaps for WAP browsers though I could be wrong.
I successfully managed however ,to log on using PIE and the full site i.e. http//facebook.com and it works fine.
If you really want the mobile version - that I guess is laid out without so many graphics etc I suppose you need to contact them. If it's because it's a wap site then you can download a wap browser. (say Winwap: http://www.winwap.com/products_2_2.php)
According to Facebook:
Boost, Cingular, Nextel, Sprint, and Virgin currently support Facebook Mobile Web. If you have another carrier and a phone with an internet browser, it should still work, we just can't make any guarantees. If you are having trouble, please tell us your carrier, the make and model of your phone, and describe the problem that you are experiencing here.
Also this:
http://www.facebook.com/mobile.php?faq=1
Mike
Mike - When I started my phone this morning (I switch it off every night), I could access m.facebook.com today. Worked perfectly. So clearing your cookies might work for you too.
The mobile Facebook site is really excellent on a Vario.

HTC Touch Home Screen's Weather Update

Did anyone ever figure out how to get this page to update Via GPRS? Mine will only update from an AS Connection or if I happen to have WiFi on at the time. But, if I am connected using GPRS then it fails to recognize internet connectivity. (Yes, I do have wap.voicestream.com available and I am paying for the basic service).
Thanks in advance for any information you provide.
The reason could be that your GPRS connection is set through a proxy server.
I have the same problem with my GPRS.
Only if you can set the proxy address in your programs or can patch the program to except a proxy address you will be successful.
There is no other way to bypass a providers fixed proxy as far as I'm informed.

Actually, Come to think of it, I wouldn't think it would present a problem; The Weather plug-in is part of the HTC Touch - which presumably is built to use either GPRS or whatever available at the time. Thus it should work just the same on any similar unit.
Yes you are right, but some a provider offer a few different data subscriptions.
So with certain GPRS supscriptions you have only access certain ports which are defined be the provider.
I for example have a WAP & Email flatrate supscription, which allows me to surf wap pages and receive push mail.
Without simple modifications I would not be able to also surf on http sites.
If I would use a different GPRS option from my provider I would be able to surf with no porblems or use any kind of programs accessing the web.
I once had Spb Weather installed on my XDA and was only able to use my GPRS flat with it if I had a patched .exe of Spb Weather installed so it could pass the restricted O2 proxy.
I hope you get my point.
To simplify it, if you are able to use the Live Messenger on your xda with GPRS then you should also be able to update the Touch weather plugin.
BTW - SPB mobile shell wont waste such a great space on todayscreen - which for me is important for appointments and there are no problems with weather etc.
And looks nice.
And the now screen - i´m searching
You can find more infos here: http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/screenshots.html?de
And in black with digital clock it looks nice.
And the menu strukture is perfekt for onehanded using.

there is a reghack:
search for "GPRS" and there msut be a value "enableDIfferGPRSicon" or something like that.
Set it to 1 and it will change from "G" = when GPRS (little slow) or "E" = EDGE (faster) is available.
lol
thats dont work for me and i am getting really pissed with the weather thingy ...it took me 2 full days to upgrade my herald to wm6 pdaviet and now the weather dont working??thats crap guys,..:/
Anyway does anyon know how can i remove the weather tab from the today screen or to replace it with something else?

You can get the weather working. what seems to be the problem?
The problem is the weather updates only via WiFi. The weather does not update via GPRS/EDGE.

HTC Home Weather + o2 surf+email-flat
Hi,
anybody managed to get HTC Home Weather-Plugin to update via o2 surf+email-pack?
I can't get the weather update working with the proxy I have to use...otherwise I'ld have to pay for the traffic.
plz help!
Anyone know offhand how to get the weather to display in Fahrenheit and not Celsius? Thanks!
Edit: Nevermind, I found it. On the City Select screen, there's a menu button with Options.
Weather panel 5 days forecast
after i installed the HTC Home plugin, the "Download weather automatically" was enabled since then. I'm wondering why the weather panel, displays only the forecast of the last update even 2days already past. It will display the current weather forecast ONLY when you CONNECT or get update through the internet. The succeeding forecast will not display until you updated. It seems the 5 days forecast is not working properly.
i noticed that after i installed the plugin, the HTC home folder was not in the /Windows folder. is this normal? do i need to copy some files into my /windows folder?
Is there any way that the weather forecast will display the succeeding forecast without updating it to the internet since there are 5 days of forecast?

T-Mobile wing 5.99 weather?

i dont see how he uses the 5.99 plan for email or weather.
the only weather program(actually plugin) is htc home. and thats with the htc home proxy patch
how can i use my 5.99 plan to check weather?(on manilla themes, miniColour theme, etc.)
well, one guesses that he uses HTC home weather plugin.
My guess is that other plugins/programs will have to be specifically modified like the HTC home proxy patch to do the same.

damn cuz im really liking this miniColour theme(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413776) but no weather. it updates with mortscript and yahoo weather so im pretty sure it cant be modified like the proxy patch
do you know what the proxy patch does and how it works? If it's simply setting a proxy, i see no reason why one can't be set for your theme.
Is it possible to set a sort of a global proxy through which ALL outgoing gprs connections are sent? THAT would be the answer to your problem.
its under htc home registry and a new htc home.dll
but ill see if i can find a universal proxy somewhere.
oh maybe ask some one with a dash and a wing and see if they both have the dash 5.99 full internet hack.
If you would like to check the weather, just open opera mini and navigate to m.weather.com.
Is that what you're looking for?

i think they wanted the full integration of the weather section on the htc home plugin. i had the 5.99 plan for a day or two, but no instant messenger programs worked, no built-in weather (on spb mobile shell, htc home plugin, etc) worked seamlessly, and email didnt work for me. People said that the tzones hack wasnt noticeably different in speed than the total internet add on, but i can notice it. the total add on is MUCH faster and you get full capability with email, weather, IM, and more.
I have the 5.99 internet plan on my Wing. Weather for the HTC Home plugin was always hit and miss. I've heard you can open a browser, and when it's connected to the internet you can minimize and check the HTC Home weather and it works. Seems like too much just to get the weather. I currently check weather using the Spb Menu 2.1 and it updates weather fine, I can browse using Opera no problem. E-mail has to be configured using a different connection without T-Mobile's proxy added (at least that's how it worked for me). Just an FYI tho, don't know if it's this way with other devices, but any time I made any changes to the connections (T-Mobile Data, T-Mobile MMS) the changes don't take effect til you soft reset. Best way I've found is just use the Network Wizard in Connections to get internet set up on the device. Other than that, even with the HTC Home proxy fix, I still couldn't get it to work reliably.

BlackBerry Connect Working on Rhodium

I wanted to bring this workaround into its own thread to make sure that people see the great solution posted by c0rnholio -

I can confirm that it works and works well despite some initial installation issues.

Thanks for your workaround and I managed to get my BB Connect working on my Touch Pro 2 and I am using BIS.
Blackberry Connect is Working on HTC TouchPro2
Dear All,
Rejoice HTC TouchPro2 owners. Blackberry connect for working on HTC Touchpro 2 now. Just follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4150074&postcount=35 this web-link and you will achieve your intentions.
Can't get it working for long on mine
I have followed the instructions given in the link, and can get BBConnect 106 to work on my TP2, but only for a while ...
The BBConnect 106 loads, I get BES connection, email, contacts, calendar, notes and tasks downloaded ... manage to send and receive a few email, then it all stop ... with some very strange behaviour.
I have tried everything I can think of to get it working consistently, but can't manage it. I get the impression that the BBConnect is being loaded some place where it should be ... not very technical I know, but thats the way it appears.
The TP2 I have is a Hong Kong English Language version ... WWE ... not sure if that makes a difference.
ROM and Radio version ...
The version I have on my TP2 are
ROM 1.19.721.3 (51489) WWE
Radio: 3.44.25.27
And to correct my typo in the previous note, I think the BBConnect is being loaded shmewhere it shouldn't be loaded, which is causing other features and functions of the phone to mis-behave ... as an example, I was unable to search for new networks manually ... lost the Roaming flag on the top of the screen (small triangle sign), was always displaying GPRS connection, even when not connected to the network (so E (edge), or G being displayed ...)
I also tried version 104 of the BBconnect, just to see if it was version 106 specific, but this didn't make a difference.
Apart from that, the phone is close to perfect, for me at least ... particularly like the way the screen blanks when you are making a call and put it close to your ear, then comes alive again when you move it away so you can see it and access it. With the TP, I was always putting calls on hold when I put the phone to my ear ... also like the way the speaker phone is activated automatically when you place the phone face down.
Now if I could only get BBConnect to work, it would be perfect
I did get it working, I couldn't get SetModelID.exe to run with the reg string, I have Memmaid that allows you to set programs to run and I put SetModelID.exe in there and I have email!
Question!
Why use BBConnect for emails? What's wrong with the way the emails are already on the HTC? What is the difference exactly?
Just curious because this sounds interesting.

Windows Mobile 6.5 and BlackBerry Connect
Guys, I would like to hear from someone who understands the 6.6 environment whether you think upgrading into WM 6.5 will allow me to still use the BBerry Connect. has anybody tried upgrading a Rhodium and then try the BBerry?

RSACIPHER: I had same problem. could not change Model ID. What is Memmaid and how did that work?
Also
C0RNHOLIO: maybe you should look into why this is happening so that your solution works all the time. Mine is a T-Mobile Rhodium.
Thanks to both
And what about a HTC Rhodium with WM 6.5? Try it but didn't get it.

I have been running BB on my TP2 on 6.1, 6.5 and 6.51 roms with Sense 2.1 and 2.5. They all work, and no, I cannot have multiple data streams so when I use the browser my BB connect shows no connection. If I disconnect data, sometimes BB automatically connects but generally I have to run BB connect, disconnect and reconnect (so I added a shortcut to it on my programs).
For me, using 6.51 and 2.1 gives the least trouble. I dont know why.
BTW I keep getting reminders that there is a new BB Desktop update (5.01).
good idea on adding the shortcut. I have found that it rarely reconnects and I had to turn off the auto update for the weather or I would start missing emails. I hope someone gets a fix for this soon as this is the perfect email phone...

Having concurrent connections two 2 APNs simulatiously only works for GPRS (as far as I have observed on all my past and current devices).
So if you want to have BBC and Internet at the same time you need to switch to GPRS only and disable auto band switching for 3G. If anyone knows a way to get concurrent connections working on 3G, please post how.

Connection Setup for TMOUS HD2

Fellow XDA-users
Is it possible to extract the connection setup wizard from a regular HD2 and port it to the TMOUS HD2? T-Mobile has disabled this function, and the two cabs I found here in this forum do not have all countries (more specifically, neither has the settings for Brazil )
I have access to an unbranded HTC HD2 and I could try to extract the connection setup files and create a cab, if someone could show me the ropes.
Thanks in advance.
Ryplok
hm no answers yet... I'm looking for the same thing... I've only found a cab for Connection setup 1.0. .. database it's too old, as I see my Topaz has 3.1 ... does anybody know wich files I can extract from ROM to put in my TMOUS HD2?
Ryplok, did you find anything ?
I really need this too. I've been searching everywhere. I travel a lot and use a lot of different SIM cards. It would be very nice to get the connection setup wizard back.

connection setup fixed
Thanks Herlek,
I just added the connections setup wizard to my TMOUS hd2 and now it works the same as my HD did when switching sim cards/countries. I switch regularly between T-mobile in the US and China Mobile in China. The setup wizard saves a lot of hassles having to manually set the connection settings every time I travel.
I would be very unhappy with this phone if it were not for all the help I get from xda developers.
Thanks!!!!
I also want to say thanks Herlek. I was in mid travels when you posted it, downloaded your file, and it worked great in Netherlands and UK. It did not find my provider in Latvia, so I still had to add that one manually. But I go back and forth often, and this will also save me a lot of hassle!
I used the connection setup wizard here in china and everything is working fine except for the carrier name in the upper left corner of the home screen.
I just noticed that my carrier (china mobile or CMCC) is no longer properly displayed just under the start menu. All that is displayed is "????" instead of the carrier name. Anyone know what I need to do to get the carrier name to appear properly?
The phone is a stock TMOUS ROM, purchased new a couple of weeks ago. I used the connection setup wizard cab suggested by Herlek.
Thanks in advance!
