Whats up everyone. I installed PointUI Interface, but I removed it because it took a bit to get used to. My issue is the HOME button is still there. The calendar is on the bottom right side, the HOME button is on the bottom left. I searched in the forums but didnt find anything...... does anyone know how to remove it or change it......
Thanks,
Eric
It can be done through Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool (Version 1.1, at least)
Not sure where to gt the cab, but I'd bet a forum search would spot it.
Otherwise, it's a registry hack.
On a side note, PointUI looks nice, but is that the most difficult program to close in the world, or what? I had to open task manager from within PointUI to close it that way.
Thanks. Schap's worked. and Yes I agree with you PointUI looks nice. I had to do the same thing to close the prog via task manager.
Closing it is easy! Simply click the setting icon on the top right (looks like a cog) scroll down, and you should see Close Home at the very bottom...
hey there. i had this same prob. my suggestion is to use cleartemp. do a search, and use the cab. it works well is simple and it gives you more memory, which is always nice.

This morning when I visited the forum, there was a post of what has happened to the "New" task on the left bottom corner of the screen on WM 5? I didn't have time to read it at the time and an hour later when I was back I couldn't find this post anywhere.
My question is, is there a way to get the "New" task on WM 5 like it was on WM 2003?
Thank you!
For the "new" feature, it's not implemented in WM5. Kind of. But watch this (ie my) space
But for now, you can check out my post here:

Start the apps as such:
\windows\addrbook.exe -new

Thanks for your posting!
The way you're suggesting is the way I'm doing it now, but I miss the old way I was opening "new" messages, texts, appointments, you name it, on my old XDA.
Is there a way of having that "New" task back to the bottom left corner of the screen? Would PocketPlus help?
Don't know about PocketPlus. I think there is a way to emulate the New button. I'll be investigating it when I get time...

Hi, I was able to track down the "New Menu" software. I have now installed it on my XDA Exec and it's working fine... like good all days.
This is the website you can download the software from!
http://www.saman-cz.com/ppc/wm5newmenu.html
Good luck!
New Menu
I am using the WMnewmenu - a great app - basically a task launcher
I've just noticed you can add anything to the menu - just added tomtom which is handy
I really want to add the start menu but can't seem to do this. What's the link please
If I can add the start menu I can scroll to what I want using the keys rather than having to touch the screen
Regards
PAul
hays - VJKeyPress can be used to pop open the startmenu.

I have included the link in my previous posting. Have a more careful look again and it's there!
It's a shareware. YOu can download it and install it immediately.
Could you please give me the link to the MNnewmenu? I'm looking for a good task launcher too.
Thank you!
Hey Guys, I just recently baught the T-mobile MDA and am looking for the OK/close button freeware mentioned in this review http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=12194 Can anyone direct me to where I can find it?
This site is incredible but I'm having a hard time locating this program.
Sounds like they're talking about Smartskey It double duties the soft keys as start and ok/close+more.
Here's a dedicated thread for Smartskey which has download links for the app...

You have to install it in the main memory or in the storage memory and it should start on it's own (provided you have enabled the Auto Start option in its settings. If you install it in the storage card, you will probably need to start it manually.

on my device it all happened automaticly. IF you tap&hold the X or OK in the left top corner of the screen you should see it getting active. tap&hold again ans magic button goes away
I still have not found the perfect task closer/manager. I have used several, but am still searching for the perfect application. The following are my criteria for the idea solution:
1.) Small. This is one of the only applications in main memory for speed/stability, so I want is small
2.) I want the WM5 icons. I like the square X and do not want any extraneous icons for settings (i.e. vbar). Essentially, I do not want to know the application is running.
3.) Task switcher. Ideally, i would tap and hold on the X to get a drop down with all the open apps that I can then switch to.
That is it, nothing extra. All the Wisbar derivatives (vbar, magic button) have extra icons for the settings. The two closest candidates for perfect closer/manager I have come across are wClose by Rui Goncalves and tMan by jasnapaka.com. wClose is only 8k  and uses WM5 icons, but no task switcher. tMan has a great task switcher and is small, but uses a dot instead of WM5 icons. I am currently using wClose. My 2 cents.
hey guys i just stumbled into a nice new(launched 1-1-08) program called Pointui it's a skin program for wm5 & wm6 phones. i am running it right now on my wing and i love the damn thing. but don't take my word for it check out what JASON CHEN from Gismondo had to say about it :http://gizmodo.com/339835/pointui-sk...?autoplay=true . btw guys i am in now way whatsoever affiliated to whoever made the program, i've learned so many things about my wing from this site that i just wanted to give everyone a heads up. again the program it totally free with absolutley no hoops to jump through.
btw the program has to be installed through activesync ( just so u know) also the link to the website it at the bottom of the review.
please only one thread for one and the same thing....

yeah i know sorry i thought i was posting it here but for some reason i posted it under accessories, i just wanna get the word out. i know alot of ppl will like it.
Is it Skinnable?
Can we change the skin?
That Blue is really boring to me...
Great program, i'll test it soom...
So I decided to play around with this for a minute to see how well it works....I'm pretty bored at work. Anyway, i installed pontui home and it works pretty nice. I also installed OTO on touch task and calandar program. Once i did this on my bottom bar where i have my contacts and calandar, the calandar button now says HOME but still activates the calandar. I removed and deleted both programs to see if i could figure it out and it continues to say HOME. I did a soft reset and still nothing. Any ideas?
correction..... The home button actually prompts pontui to start and once activated, if you press the button again it prompts the calander. I want my calander button to prompt the calandar not the program. anyone with experience?
after installing pointui.
hkcu\software\microsoft\today\keys\112
default = calandar
open = \windows\calandar.exe
but then you have to choose point.ui somewhere else on a button or put a link into
\windows\startup
btw - after editing the key -powercycle (3 sec push power and say yes)

i'm running the stock t-mo ruu without the t-mo customizations
and after 5 reboots (to make sure ram use is consistent) i show 4 megs of use (from 16mb down to 12mb) the program works very well but there is room for improvement, ie you cannot shutdown programs only minimize them. one thing i really like is that the weather feature works fine with the 5.99 proxy, there is no need to set it up, it works right off the bat. i suggest you give it a try.
You CAN shut them down, when app is opened, just press the top bar,
there you can choose Force Close, only counterpart is that .Home
goes back to your normal Today-Screen
In thier forum they have a link to download a modified .exe for the app that closes applications instead of minimizing them. Them forum link is here
hello! i hope i'm the first who opened a thread about this:
i don't want to use a taskmanager at top right because there already exists a X-button at the bottom right. but when i use this button, the tasks just run in background and won't close completely... my question is now:
is there any taskmanager for wm 6.5.x which integrates in the bottom taskbar to fully close tasks with the stock X-button? or is there maybe a tweak like bsb where i can change this setting?
thx in advance!

AMeBa can do this, and more. (make sure you install all three cabs that are attached to the first post)
Happy closing
In HTC Task Manager (V. 2.1 Build 1918.3631), there is the option of "Enable the"X" button to end running programs" either by tapping "X" or tapping + holding "X". Not sure whether this works on ALL programs though.

Unfortunately that task manager doesn't run on windows mobile 6.5.x (bottom-bar WM) .
This one does. It doesn't close application by tapping on the x button, but by tap-and-hold the clock in the new windows mobile version.
XTask DO the job !!!
I'm using Xtask, especially XHook.exe, to close all my apps, and it works like a charm.
No installation, it's only an exe, run as service after each reset, do no eat memory.
I've remapped my Close/OK button to XHook.exe (with AEButtonPlus), and now I REALLY close apps.
thank you for your replies. i already discovered xtask and it works fine!
Maybe, it's better set to 'OK Key' (in AE Button plus) command 'Close active application'
I like everything about this ROM and plan to upgrade from the Sept 3rd to Oct 3rd this weekend.
I would like to know about the zoombar and scrolling thru messages from the main screen.
On other builds, I could do this if i was at msg 15, zoombar back to 1 real quick instead of flick flick flick.
Can you maybe fix this and cook into your final copy.
I dont know how many people dont use ms voice command as its one of the first to load for my bt headset and hearing messaging in my ear.
Maybe the concensus could be to cook or not cook it in.
Everything else works beautiful compared to other ROM's i have tried and I also commend you on your work.
I will be changing the battery icon myself as its very hard to read the percentage at a glance.
Thank you for all you do.

If you could read, you would see that I am asking about the zoombar function to be fixed.
Also I would like to use VLingo but it requires a dedicated button to set during configuration and the PPT is not there under the settings/personal/buttons.
I mapped the button using the Ameba settings to Voice command but Vlingo still doesnt work.
Hello everyone,
can someone tell me that by clicking "X" in an app my HD2 will finally close programs and will not keep them running in the background...!?
In my ROM (2013/6.5.3) there is no feature in the settings area as in former times to enable or disable it. Is there any registry hack?
Thx in advance.
Nobody any clue??
Install Dutty's task manager and it will add that option to your control panel.
Another option is WKTask. It hasn't been updated for a long time and looks like the author has lost interest, but it works fine with 6.5 and even 6.5.3. Just disable the skin (which draws its own OK or X button on the task bar) - you will not loose any functionality.
Isn't there any registry solution?
Dutty's Task Manager didn't as it is not compatible with 6.5.x. The setting was added but didn't affect anything...
Try the TouchX task manager. Both Dutty's or that have always worked for me, so you may still have the 6.5.5 compatibility issue, but I've never heard of that before.
For windows mobile 6.5.x try this forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618300" its works great
In fact I do not want a task manager. I just want to close programs and not minimize them. There must some kind of registry hack for that...

No! There is none. You need a programm that runs in background/as a process which monitors the x-button and closes programms. Its just like that.
BTW. WKTask and Opera 10 dont work together. Try installing WKTask and got to landscape in Opera10. The device will crash. Can anybody please confirm this as i still love WKTask (Im on RTTs RTMi 5 ROM with 6.5.3 and Sense 2013) --> Thanks guys
I want something like this too. I came from an iPhone, so excuse my noobness but when you hit the HOME key it closes a program out, not run in the background. I want to be able to hit 'X' at the top and it closes the program out, not run in the background. I just cant believe nobody has made a run around, a .cab or reg edit for this. I hate having a slow HD2 because the proccess keep piling up.

I never said there is no solution. Theres just no way via the registry. You will need one of the millions of taskmanagers out there. I recommend Ameba (close via tapping x, minimize via holding x) in combination with ArkSwitch (complete Taskmanager, can be opened via tapping left part of the taskbar or long press sendkey). The best and most stable solution in my opinion.
Greets
Forget the iphone they invent now the multitasking....
Get one task manager and a ram cleaner(optional) and go with multitasking!!!!
You will get used of it
Take a look at Wisbar: great program, great developer and a excelant support
Hi,
i have got a contrary problem.
My running programs do not stay in the Backround.
Mostly, if i push the home or back-key, my HD2 closes the actual program. The program is in backround for a short time and then it closes.
I can see it, i have WKTask running. It is the same, if i have uninstalled WKTask, so this taskmanager is not the cause.
I have this problem mostly, not always but i can´t see the cause.
What is wrong with my HD2?
