Ather's BA Kitchen Coded in C# [ Teaser 11-4-2008] - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

As you all know i have been working on a Kitchen For Himalaya and Blue Angel Devices...well its almost complete..here is a screenshot for now
Enjoy !!!!

--Reserved--

Always looking forward to ROM kitchens. I'll be glad to give it a whirl.

u are welcome...it will be released soon

Guyz i was starting the coding and wanted to know which Language Do u prefer..thats why i have added a POLL
so please vote

C# for me though

explanation please..
Hi Ather90,
Maybe I'm missing something but as an end user of this kitchen, what difference would there be in my using a C++ version or a C# version? As long as they both do the same thing and I don't want to modify the tool itself but just to modify the ROM, it seems to me that whatever is best for you is the way to go.
Inquiring mind want to know....

i asked because if i code the Kitchen in C++ you guyz will have to install Visual Studio 2008 C++ Redistribiutable Package..as for C# you will only need .Net Framework
and the speed of C++ is much faster than C#
i only wanted openions from u..

mmhh, if we are talking about install this package I think I prefer C++, if only 1.7mb can save me some time doing the same job as well as c#, I prefer C++.
So man, C++ is my poll, good luck.
Thanks!

yes this is the package...the polling is open till midnight and then i will proceed with my own choice

i prefer c++. i know nothing about c#

If you are going to release source-code too, I would prefer C#. Just my two cents...
Thank you for your efforts!!!

C#
just my preference... ;-)

If it's in C# then i can also put my efforts in it as well. So my vite for c#
VS 2008 if possible.

Guyz the Polling is completed..C# is the Winner
and Yes i work on VS 2008 Pro

I'm afraid "VS 2005 EXPRESS" is free but cannot be used for PPC app development. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
you can get visual studio as a trial for 90 days [2005] and VS08 beta 2 as a permanent download. Im sure therees some way to extend the trial, but as i was only evaluating, i didnt look into it. But 08 is better [I have both] ebcause it has a wm5 emulator, whereas to debug on wm5/6 with vs05, you ahve to connect your device, which sadly may if you're very unlucky brick it.

Also you can use CeGCC.

Well, you are right... but you are also wrong.
The C# compiler is free.
VS Express cannot develop for WM.
But the compiler itself can!
It's just a matter of libraries. I just answered another topic providing a link to an article I wrote time ago, taking the information from another site I don't remember. I report it here:
http://www.jargoncode.it/tips/netcfcompile-eng.htm
As you will notice, it's just a matter of DLL. You can create and test your applications on Windows using VS Express, and then recompile for WM using the described procedure. Luckily, Windows Forms basics are identical on both platforms, so if you learn the differences you can compile for both platforms without any kind of problem.
I also suggest you to try EWE: http://www.ewesoft.com/
This one is Java.

Visual basic for Android

A new development tool is now available for Android devices: Basic4android.
Basic4android syntax is similar to Visual Basic with support for objects.
Basic4android includes a GUI designer that supports multiple screens and resolutions.
I believe that this tool is much simpler to start with than Eclipse + Java.
Compiled applications are regular APK files, and the performance is similar to Java performance.
You can see more information here: basic4ppc[dot]com
Does it have a tutorial or may some one leave a brief training here?
thanks for finding something like this. I've always wanted to create my own apps and now I can and with this program it looks pretty good.

Godsend. I've been self-learning Java this week and slowing developing my first two apps using Eclipse. I've got a good grasp of the language but I was always better with vb.
Thanks heaps
I had Basic4PPC for WM Development, then Android came along. I'm glad the author has released Basic4Android as well!

Looks very promising!! Though I would have liked to see C# instead of visual basic coding. I can't even remember it anymore. It's been so long since I have used visual basic!! Lol. Maybe it's time to study up. I have refused to use have for a number of reasons!

Does anyone have now experiences with that programm? I have an application written in VB for Windows Mobile. I want to change that to Android.
Would be nice to get some information before i buy this tool.
Wow, this looks interesting. Might pick this up
Edit: wow this was an old topic..

It shouldn't be difficult. If you like you can post this issue in Basic4android forums. I'm sure that it will be solvable.
I use mostly b4a, it is very simple and there is a lot of help on the forums, and people developing libraries and code classes.
I am learning on android studio now, but I have been happy developing with b4a!

Is Developing Apps For Android Easy

hi all is developing for android easy. i know prior experience would be great but as a first language would it be easy to pickup.
Do you mean to develop apps for android? If yes, then it is fairly easy, because apps can be written with the Java programming language.
Of course, if you never did any programming before, it will be hard at first. But I think Java is one of the best languages for a beginner to learn.
http://appinventor.googlelabs.com/about/
No need to learn a programming language. Although it helps.

No, C# is better. Like java but it looks nicer.

It's possible to use it for Android?
Basicaly , I think that making an app is not hard , but making a good up and keep developing and update it in order to make it even better, is very tiring, and difficult.
And after a point, code is realy complex for unexpiriened programmers.
Thanx for replies. I've picked up Java and android application development for dummies book.always wanted to program its difficult to start because of choosing a language.
I think Java is a good start as u come across Java in PC's and phones.
Is xhtml a big part of android programs. Is that another language to learn.
and last question about the android sdk is there a tutorial on installing it on 64 bit windows seven.I remember coming across compatibility problems with eclipse

I'm in.
I don't have much experience in deving, theming, or scripts but I could ask some people around for tips and whip some stuff up on my own .
I dont want just ports. I want our own ORIGINAL work instead of a modified version of someone elses work.

What do you have to know to be able to develop. Is it similar to writing code on computers? Do you have to know a computer code language?
You can pull the IDE over at ANDROID.com

Well for this task, SamsungVibrant you would have to be able to read write C# or C++ & JAVA . . . If you know of another language I am sure that it will cross over.
If you know ASP.Net or PHP or even ColdFusion, the logic is there & it can be used. Lot of these languages do cross over, they are just platform dependent. Working on the Android, JAVA would be the common syntax. But I am no Android Dev... I do Cold Fusion and SQL & Hardware related stuff.
Give it a shot, hands on is the best way to learn.

Ahh seems like I'll never be a developer then because I don't know anything other than some basic HTML.
I don't know any programming languages
I don't even know what pulling the IDE at Android.com means
If you want to take a stab at this, please PM me

IDE means individual developers environment
It is a application just like dreamweaver and HTML editor or eclips to edit files such as HTML or Cold Fusion and C++. Eclips can be configured to edit any language.
We will need help setting up the Forms. If you want to take a stab at this, please PM me so that I can pass on the URL and give you access.
I have it up, but I am working on the PUBS to make a database connection to the PHP forms.
Try to remember this, this is all about learning by hands on....Just a select few having a good time and learning by doing.
The best part of this experience is to learn something. Break it , tear it appart & put it together.

IDE is Integrated Development Environment. It means, text editor, compiler and connections to source control and code review tools all in one tool.

Just a heads up, The Team Infinity forums are up.
There are some permissions that has to be set and then need volunteers to kick the tires before we start posting topics...
Will need volunteers for Mods of the Team Infinity Forums.
If anyone has experience with rolling up the PHPBB forums, please chime in.

Visual Basic, C#, or Java programming?

I am currently working on my associates and I need 4-5 credits in BPC, CIS, and some others. I was wondering which classes would better suite me if I wanted to start getting into the hacking and rom building scene.
I have all ready taken a class on C++ so I have a basic starting point on how programming languages operate, but that class didn't transfer to the school I'm currently going to. So my question is, which classes would better suite me (I only need 2 in order get my degree seeing as they are 3 credit classes) to assist with becoming better developer for android?
all insight is welcome, but searching for developers insight...
Java would be best if you want to work with Andriod, as a lot of the code is java, and what isn't in java is mostly C I believe, and possibly a few other languages thrown in.

In the android source there should be c++ besides Java. As for kernel it's mostly C and ASM

Seriously, though, you might consider adding a Linux course or two if they're available and you haven't done so already...
Has anyone seen John Connor?
Checked for linux and there was none. That was my first search. Now should I do c++ and the course that follows c++2. Or a little of both. C and Java. There is also a Java level 2
