I have a music server that will pass m3u playlists to my phone which I'll play through TCPMP, only problem is that I'd like to conserve battery life while I do this by hibernating the phone.
I've enabled a registery setting :
HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\power\state\ unattended
WAV1: =dword:00000000
Flags = dword:00400000
in the hopes of powering off the phone while still streaming music via the data connection. This reg tweak half works but every 10-15 seconds I'll get a blip in the stream. When the phone is powered on normally it streams flawlessly.
Can anyone shed some light?
i dont mess with the registry for this myself, but i use slide2unlock. when the screen is locked, you can set a time for it to turn completely off. the music still plays though.
Or use program such as quick menu and turn off the screen manually.

Hello
i need to know if there is any possibility to continue the playing of the windows media player when i turn off my mobile phone (so that the touchscreen can not be used, but phone still on)
the problem is that im going to work every morning and plugin my earphones to turn on the music for the way. i leave the phone in my jacket and because it is not turned off so you can use the touchscreen it happens very often that the touchscreen is touched and that the song turns louder, the next song comes, aso..... i do not like this, this is why i ask for a configuration that i save the screen so it cant be touched and i can hear music at the same time.
is there anything out?
You can set a key to disable the screen by using the "Menu" "Options..." "Keys" menu.
The last item (not sure, I'm using a french WM) is about Activating/Deactivating the screen.
Hope this will help you.
Another option is to use a bluetooth headset, which will keep the music playing even when you hit the power button. Another thing to consider would be a program such as Slide 2 Unlock, which can turn off the lcd according to a preset delay, but I'm not sure if media player would keep playing or not. Good luck!
I just use the audioprogram from htc with batterystatus, when I turn my phone off. the music keeps playing and my screen is off and keys locked
yea, the new HTC audio manager plugin (touchflo cab) allows you to turn off the screen while still playing the music. its a plus as a really nice audio player also.
Just assign a button in WMP to "Toggle Screen" this will do what youre looking for. No need for an entirely new media player.

Sorry to Bump this up but can someone tell me how to listen to music in audio manager while screen is off please, i searched and searched and the only answers i see are use another player (which I dont wantm I orefer audio manager) and "mine works when my screen is off" (thanks for the help???) Did anyone have the same problem as me and fix it? Thanks in advance
Play Media Player while phone is (otherwise) off.
I had a ROM loaded on my phone that allowed MS Mediaplayer to stay active while my Tilt was 'off'. In fact, it was listed as a feature of that ROM. So I know that it's possible. Someone knows how to do it.
Found this on Freewareppc.com, it turns off the screen so when listening to mp3's or d/l podcasts you can turn off your screen (w/o the registry hack needed to let the media player run with the PDA off). Works great!

hi all,
i use htc audio manager to play mp3s on the jade. however, the music stops whenever i press the power button to turn the screen off. anyone knows how to keep the music playing despite turning off the screen? it'll definitely save a lot of power with the screen off..
i've searched around and i've found some solutions which i've tried..for example deleting "disable_exit" and "enter_suspend" from registry, but it doesn't seem to work.. is there any other tweak i can do?
also..i download the htc audio manager today plugin and installed. however, i can't seem to be able to select it at settings>today>items..is it because the today plugin is only compatible for the previous versions of the audio manager?
so sorry for the long questions..thanks for any help!

Pressing the power button puts the phone to sleep.. everything sleep. This is how I work around. Set backlight to turn off after, say 1 min, and the music keeps playing even when the screen is turn off.
If you use Windows Media Player instead, you can set what you want to do with the button options.
If you use Windows Media Player instead, the on/off button will switch off the screen only instead .
I think that when you have earphones connected than you can turn off screen by power button and keep playing music in all media players.
^^Correct! When I'm listening to music using earphones, the music keeps on playing even after putting the device to sleep.... I use HTC Audio Manager...
yeah! i just tried with earphones and it worked nicely..hahas..should've just tried with headphones from the start..i was doing testing on the media players without earphones hahas..thanks all for the help
Resco Radio has an option to turn of the screen and the call buttons and leave the sound on.
`unfortunately it´s not free `
When You plug in headset this work!

is there a cab or reg change to keep the music on in standby
i dont want the screen and keys on during musicplay while in pocket or cardock
this worked in the qtek9100 but not on tp2
thanx
Using either the TF3D music player or WMP, I've no problems with playback with the screen off by default. Are you using some other player?
Hello,
I have the same problem on my HTC Touch Pro2 T7383 (Orange FR).
If someone find a solution, I will be glad to have it !
I use the Manilla interface, not the WMP one.
Thanks.

I also have the same problem. Turning the screen off is not the same has hitting the standby button. I think that's where there is some confusion.
Is there a way to make the standby button a screen off button if you use a long press?
As long as you have your headset connected to the device, the TF3D/manila music player or WMP will continue to play your music even if the screen is turned off.
It will not play with the screen off if you use the device's speakers.
I just let me screen timeout and my music continues playing....
There must be something I'm missing here because I'm really confused. There are only a couple of states that your device can be in:
1. Screen on; Backlight on
2. Screen on; Backlight off
3. Screen off
4. Standby
5. Off
Music playback through the headset works fine by default in the following states 1, 2, and 3.
I thought Standby was a state in which everything in your device goes into a powersaving mode where only the radio is active (so that you can still receive calls and messages). So wouldn't it by definition be impossible to continue music playback on Standby?
Appreciate it if someone could enlighten me on this...

this is indeed what I mean.
in mode 1, 2 and 3 playback works, but when hitting the top hardkey / standby the playback stops.
there must be a reg setting to keep playback on same as for instance wifi always on even in standby.
with the wifi regedit, wifi stays connected to the network even when hitting the standbybutton.
thanx

Really? That's odd because playback continues as normal when I turn the screen off with the power button. (This is of course with the headset connected. Without the headset, playback will stop.)
Btw, this is probably not helpful to this issue that you guys are having but I think it's important to get the essentials correct. When you press and release the power button with the device and screen on, it doesn't immediately put your device into standby mode. All it really does is turn off the display. When the display is off for a particular amount of time (a couple of seconds), your device will go into standby. If I'm using my device to listen to music and turn off the screen with the power button, it never goes into standby. I know this because I have danielherrero's LockDevice app. I've set it to autolock the device when it wakes up from standby. Since my device never when into standby during the music playback, my device never gets autolocked when I'm listening to music.
Have you tried this?

any new findings id still like 2know of a fix for this
Am I correct that if the screen "sleeps" then the music player turns off even when plugged into headphone jacks. I really hope I just have some setting not enabled or something. Cause on a long road trip, it would be ridiculous to have to have the screen stay on the entire time for music to come out. Android 1.5 music player did not work that way. the screen could sleep all it wanted to, the music would continue.......oh, and I enabled the setting that says "keep screen on when plugged in" and it doesn't seem to work. my screen still turned off thus turning off my music player. also happened after a notification (SMS) was finished processing. screen went off.
no, music is not supposed to turn off when the screen sleeps.
makes sure you do not have automatic task killer or some other similar application that terminates the music.
it's in the ignore list of my task killer app.
