WM6 Device & Mac OS X (use the device as modem) - Networking

Hello how can i use my WM6 phone as a modem for ma Mac os X 10.5 ?
Provider is o2 Germany

I use the Internet Connection Sharing tool over bluetooth pan... then connect to the network on my device using my macbook's bluetooth.

thank you that works well and god may curse samsung for the i780 it takes me 3 hours to find out that BT-Pan net privat network settings on WIFI Menu to work^^*g*

good day goys..
i am using my mobile as a woreless router...
doesnt matter as long as u r getting internet connection on ur mobile u can share it via a program caller wmwifirouter.
reply if u guys want cab file.
this program will make ad hoc connection which ur computer will identify ( on mac or windows)
simply connect on that and ur mobile will issue ip address to laptop ( it will take around 30 secs). tha n u can use laptop with shared internet from ur mobile.
works beautiful on my mac and pc

That sounds interesting
Would you mind posting a link to the cab file?

WMwifiRouter
Thanks for the tip. WMwifiRouter works great!
I tried Internet Sharing (BT PAN) and USB Modem but both, for whatever reason, provided fractional transfer rates. (see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2122160#post2122160)

Has anyone tried PAN
with the new MacBook Pro - Late 2008? I can connect but the performance is 2-3k at best!! It's acting like the MacBook Air, they can't tetherer with bluetooth either.

if you're looking for wmwifirouter, found the trial version via my friend google, here;

Using Activesync v 3.7.1 to internet via cable router

Hi there,
Don't know if this is even possible I've read all the articles I could find here and tried Microsoft web pages. If you can help ill most appreciate it.
(Apologies if this has been answered please let me know the link...)
My internet connection (at home) is via NTL cable, My 4 pc's connect to the internet via a Linksys router, each PC has a private IP address along the 192.168.1.x subnet which NAT to the router for internet access - all transparent.
I do not have a proxy server at home, connection is established because each PC uses the router as a gateway for internet access.
My XDA2 refuses to talk to the internet via Activesync. I can confirm that my handheld connectiviy text bubble says that the internet connection is pointing to the PC connection. the paramaters in Active sync passthorugh are set to internet - But it just won't work.
I even tried configuring the proxy option to the routers address no avail.
The XDA wants to keep defaulting back to its GPRS connection.
At the moment I have disabled the phone completely to stop it dialing out whilst I am testing.
I'm out of ideas can anyone help !!!!!!!!
I managed to fix this problem. I set up a personal proxy server from
http://www.youngzsoft.net/ccproxy/ its an excellent proxy only 815k in size and its intelligent enough to understand NAT'd IP addresses etc for connections to routers.
All I had to do was to configure the XDA 2 work profile with the proxy server address then the internet passthrough worked fine.
For Bluetooth access (I use a D-link USB bluetooth adapter). I had a problem getting the XDA 2 to launch the bluetooth connection under the activesync. I used the excellent pocket bluetooth tools
http://216.239.39.104/translate_c?h...t+bluetooth+tools&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8,
after installing this the connection worked straight away with BT internet access as well.
even though i upgraded to the new O2 rom for the xda2, i still had problems until i resorted back to the bluetooth tools, so i have internet via bluetooth gondle to my adsl. But the internet speed on my xda2 is still damm slow, perhaps its limited by the bluetoot connection speed. (my adsl is a 1mb line plus a netgear wgt624 wireless router connecting my laptop to the internet. any idea how i could get a better speed?
also what i like to do is able to access all shared files on the network or on my actual laptop from my xda2. activesync lets me browse from the laptop, but i can use the xda2 to browse the laptops files. any idea how i could do that? the laptop itsself has a 802.11g connection and an assigned ip address, but i guess that has nothhing to do with the bluetooth connection. so has anyone got any suggestions how i could access the files? some detailes guidance would be extremely welcome. thanks.
Hi I am new to this forum, and like the person above am trying to find a way to browse files on my PC through my XDA2 (i-mate).
I am connected via bluetooth to my PC, activesync is working fine this way, as is internet browsing on my XDA2 using my PC's internet connection.
All I wan't to do is be able to sit away from my PC and get files from it to the XDA2 via bluetooth.
Apparently using Resco File Explorer and a wi-fi connection you can set up a network with your PC, but when I try this with Bluetooth it doesn't work - surely bluetooth can offer the same file sharing - just slower???
Please help us if you know a way!

how to connect to internet(on windows xp pc) using gprs(from prophet) via bluetooth

hey all.
thx 4 all the help, advice n guides here.
i have a htc prophet n a windows xp laptop. heard that u can use gprs via bluetooth to connect to internet on pc.howd u do that.plz outline.
You're probably confused... You have to establish an activesync connection by bluetooth and then you'll have access to the web... Just like using the cable but slower...
and how do u setup the active bluetooth connection?
You just have to activate the 'modem link' on the PPC. In Vista at least, all I do is create a new modem connection using the bluetooth modem on the PPC and dial *99#. Pretty simple....
In some ROMs there is an Internet Sharing Option....just activate it, select Bluetooth PAN & connect to the device from PC
could some1 plz outline the steps for setting up the connection, coz all i hear is 'murmuring' ..plz,am still new to all this ppc stuff
Look at the Wiki - start at here's a hint: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Prophet_USBModem
Hello friends!
I spent about 2 days on my phone wondering and trying to get internet connection on my Prophet...So I did it!It's like this:
When you connect your Prophet via USB it will show you new connection....
Go to Start/Control Panel/Network Connections and than click on left side "Set up a home or a small office Network"...So when you finish the wizard, restart your computer (do not disconnect Prophet) and it will work...It was the only way for me to get Internet Connection...I hope I helped someone just like others helped me...Greetings!
can i use GPRS surf the internet with laptop(not with the phone), is there any setting in order to surf the web? thanks!
I think It's not worth it...In Slovenia, where I live,GPRS is at least 10times more expencive than tipycal cable NET...Some of my friends tryed to connect laptop to NET by smartphone, but the speed in really low and also phone bill was shocking...So get standard internet...Greetings!

Connect a pc to internet using mobile wifi instead of BT or usb

Hi to all,
i have a tytn ( schap's 3.54c wm6 rom ) and i'd like to know if there is a way to connect my laptop to internet using an ics connection throught wifi instead of usb or bt.
Now i'm using ics throught bt and i have a transfer rate up to 60 kbytes/sec when tytn is on hsdpa network ( 150 kbytes/s when using ics throught usb ) .
I think that ics throught wifi ( if possible ) will allow max transfer rate without the need of the usb cable... i hate cables , wireless is better
THX in advance .

http://mobilesociety.typepad.com/mobile_life/2006/08/how_to_share_yo.html
Thx mangokun , but this isn't what i need ... it explain internet sharing from 2 or more pc assuming 1 of them is connected to internet vai the mobile device through usb/BT .
I need something like the existing Internet Connection Sharing application built in WM6 but using the internal wifi of the tytn instead of usb/bt.
thx again

yes when the pda is connected to activesync it have the same network access as the pc
hey is it possible to use it with bluetooth or wifi which is connected to my desktop ? if i dnt want 2 use it with active sync .. i dont want to use it through wire ..
if the bluetooth stack on the pda support PAN then yes
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=InternetOverBluetoothNetwork
about the wifi option then if there is a wifi router it's easy
otherwise one have to make an adhoc network with the pc
and have that do the routing to it's wired network
How configure ad-hoc wifi network on pocket pc
How configure ad-hoc wifi network on pocket pc for using internet connection on desktop pc?
thanks
dont know of any software which makes pdas act the role as internet router
but boy have many people asked about it maybe it will be made sooner or later so
far only way i know of is bluetooth or usb where the pda dont act as router but as modem for the pc
Connection through destop pc
I have 2 different pda,
wizard and bluangel.
I need to connect the pda to internet through desktop pc.
This is the correct question.
connect to the pc with adhoc wifi network
and have the pc route adhoc wifi traffic to it's internet connection
it's really more of a general pc network thing then a pocketpc thing
as what needs to be don to make it work is the same thing as if the pda was a laptop or another pc
Yes But
Thanks
But I need basically information on this, do you know where I can found it?
bye

Sharing Internet between 2 PPCs over Bluetooth

Hi, Folks,
I was trying to connect a HTC TyTn II (Kaiser) to Internet over a bluetooth connection with a HTC Diamond, but no success...
First i tryed to connect using a DUN (Dial-up Network), but I don't know why, this dosn't work.
Second, i tryed to connect using the Internet Connection Share (ICS) on Diamond, but i don't found a way to join in a Bluetooh PAN with my Kaiser.
I've made a lot of searchs in this forum and the Google, but nothing that i found solves my problem.
In one of links/articles/wikis it tell me to use a Bluetooth Manager, but i don't have it.
Anyone has any idea to solve this problem?
Thx a lot! (and sorry about my english)
Try WmWifirouter. It essentially creates a P2P network over wifi. Was there a specific reason to use bluetooth?Im sure both devices have Wifi.

WMWiFiRouter does the job.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477821
or icscontrol and set the private interface to BTPAN on the serving ppc
Don't forget to setup the connection as ad-hoc.
You won't be able to share the net in managed mode.
It is possible to share internet over bluetooth.
See Below

@ alpha2k
nice link. do you know if you can connect a PDA/Mobile through your PC's Broadband Connection? See my mini diagram below?
Mobile --- (through bluetooth)---> PC --(through WIFI/Cat5e) ---> Router ----> INTERNET
Thanks
