Yahoo! MessengerCE on XdaII

Hi all!
I tried to use Yahoo! Messenger for WindowsCE based devices and I installed it without any problem.
Only...when I try to run it, it normally starts but it is not able to connect me to the server.
Is it unusable on Windows PPC 2002? Has this messenger ever worked on CE devices?
Has anybody ever used this software before, solving this problem?

Try Agile Mobile messenger from www.agilemobile.com - I tried using Yahoo for quite a while on various versions of Pocket PC beginning with the Sagem WA3050 and the experience hasnt been very good. I now use Yahoo, but on the Agile client.

I was exactly looking for the way to use the "original" Yahoo!CE Messenger cause I asked myself if it's really not possible to use it.

AOL Instant Messenger on WM 5.0

So I've tried using the latest (albeit quite old) AOL Instant Messenger on WM5.0 and it doesn't like the soft buttons which renders the program useless. What are people out there using for AOL IM clients on WM5.0? I tried Agile Messenger, but you cannot check away messages with this software. Thanks for your suggestions!

ya ive had this problem...
ive looked into some diffrent messangers and fount that agile is the best,
not just for aim but you can login for many ims,
i also find the tabed messages useful,
but i do find that checking for away messages can be a pain, b/c u have to message the person,
but apart from others this is still the best i have found...
if any one else found a better messanger plz let me know

There's something called IM+, never tried it, not free. But it's there.

Yeah - I saw that when I did a search but was a bit wary of downloading something from an 3rd party source...

If its instant messenger your after google agile messenger. great program and free for ppc users. been working fine on the 5 different devices Ive used it on so far....including the tytn

I only wanted MSN Messenger - not worried about connecting to other IM's...

Says M600 - but think it works on any Windows Mobile 5 device that dosn't have messenger.

can confirm agile runs on wm5. yes it isn't purely msn messenger' will also connect to icq google yahoo etc.... but that's a good thing right2

Microsoft is blocking old MSN messenger

Anyone got the same problem ? I still use the old MSN Messenger of WM2003 SE, original one from the Magician.
It does not work anymore.
I tried MSN 4.7.3 in my PC and it does not work either. I upgraded to the latest release and it works !
I think Microsoft is now blocking the old MSN messenger
Any ideas?

It still works for me, then maybe it was just a short interruption of service.

Strange, it still does not work for me. It happened about 5 hours ago and still does not work until now.
Internet connection is working fine, I use GPRS. Browsing is fine.
Like I said, I have this problem also in the PC. But when I updated the MSN Messenger to the latest release (Windows Live Messenger), it is working fine.
However, I dont know how to update my Magician MSN Messenger

yeah it doesnt work sometimes, i dont use it alot.
if you wana use messenger get agile or IM+ they support multiple messengers

Is Agile freeware ? This is confusing because in some forums people put it as freeware. But when I check the website, I have to pay about $19 USD.
I tried it once (I think I got it bundled with T-Mobile NL), and I dont like it because of intermittent hung up.
Maybe there is a newer version, I dont know.
What is your experience with Agile ?

I hate Agile for the only reason that when a suggestive input text has been selected, it sends the message which may rather be incomplete.. It should be freely available though.

I like agile - think its a really good wee programme, never had a problem with predictive - but I have it turned off.
It is free if you get the ppc version - some mobile versions are charged but I downloaded and used the ppc one and not a penny was paid.
However I did pay for a years service on my 6600 then 2 months in got the hermes so I guess my lack of use of my paid version more than makes up for getting the hermes version for free.

yeah it says its paid for but when you install it it doesnt say trial only or anything

I like Agile, never had any problems. It's a really good program and best of all... it's totally free.

Have you installed or recently updated a firewall/antivirus application like Norton software? This could be the problem with the PC version as I've found that sometimes updates block files such as the exe file for MSN; this could explain why the old messenger didn't work and the new one does, as the exe files are different. No idea with the ppc tho :/
