some informarmation - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi Guys,
I`m reading the forum every day and want to say you are all great with all of your development and hints
Thanks to all
I`m trying to find few things but without any success:
- where are stored the SMSes in windows mobile 6 (on file, inside the registry or... ??)
- is it possible to change the WiFi SSID and key over the registry -- i have extracted all registries from my device on file, but cannot find any ssid parameter
I was also looking over the forum, but cannot find any previous discussions .
Thanks in advance for your help

Bluetooth settings

Hi
I have discovered this site just now as a was searching for information on how to updrade by qtek9100 for a2dp and use a bluetooth stereoheadset with it.
I found some leads but they all ended in my not being allowed to change the registry settings for
"local machine"\drivers\BuiltIn\"
I can not add BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd and therefore not conclude the setup.
Is there anyone who can give me some advice on how to go about this ?
I have updgraded to the latest official ROM for sweden.
Lars
Try the CAB file attached
You might have to unlock your phone before you try and change the registry settings.

The cause for the problem may be one of the following:
1, you used a desktop ActiveSync-based registry editor.
Don't use desktop tools to chage the Registry. As is pointed out in my Registry Editor Bible, it won't work. Use a PPC-only registry editor.
2, you didn't shut down the PPC entirely after this (or waited long enough for the changes to be written to the Flash ROM as is explained in many of my WM5 & registry & flash ROM-related articles); this is why the changes haven't been stored.
Note that this has NOTHING to do with your phone's being locked. You do NOT need to unlock your device.

HTC Home Today Plugin

Hi,
I’m trying to make the HTC Home Today plug-in on WM5 to work. With many try and a lot of will I was unsuccessful because ROM upgrade was not an option.
After many hours and days, I found out that there is an error when doing installation from the cab file. I was able to intercept the error. I found out that the HTCHome.dll doesn’t register on WM5.
I think there is maybe a reference in the DLL that looks to see witch version of windows mobile it’s on, and if the reference is ok then the file get registered, if not it doesn’t and fails to register.
Here I’m boys and girls, I need good soul that can help us (I say us because there is others that is dreaming) to get a workaround!
I’m at my limit knowledge to hack this DLL that’s why I writing this today.
Regards,
My phone is a HTC TITAN (P4000) with WM5
PS: the problem is not the phone model but the OS version…
Requirements to have this pluging working:
Windows Mobile 6 ( PocketPc).
HTC HomePlug: Today screen plug-in (Displaying Time/messaging notifications/Launcher), allowing quick changes of various options, such as weather, missed calls, sms/email notifications, time/alarm changing & program launcher.

I didn't have time to look at this and don't know when or if at all I get the time, but if the problem is with the registry the solution should be easy:
Get a reg editor, got to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items and manually create a key for the plugin. Check to see how other plugins are listed there and you will know what values to create (key name is what you see in the settings menu).
Other possibility is that the DLL is compiled with WM 6 SDK. Though I have not made many attempts with this it seems files compiled this way are not recognized as valid by earlier OS version.
This might be resolved by tweaking the DLL header.

Thank for the reply!
YES i have done the registery edition in the today items and added the accorded strigs.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\ HTC Home]
"Enabled"=dword:1
"DLL"="\\Windows\\HTCHome.dll"
"Order"=dword:0
"Flags"=dword:0
"Selectability"=dword:2
"Type"=dword:5
"Options"=dword:0
I think you have a good point with the DLL heathers.
Regards

Dummy guide for 1st time user on window mobile phone

"Note for users new to Windows Mobile you will need a registry editor to find and edit files beginning with either HKLM or HKCU and a file editor that can unhide system files. Resco supply both apps and are recommended but are not the only apps out there. All registry entries are in red."

As this is your first windows mobile phone, I would strongly recommend ignoring that 1st sentance, and just enjoy the phone as much as possible. Then, when you know it better and have some idea what you'd like to do that it won't let you, come here and search for things (only ask after searching fails to find anything ).
If you've not had a windows mobile phone before, jumping into editing the registry and modifying system files is a 100% sure way to brick your phone. It's easy when you know how, so take your time and learn.
Other than that, welcome to XDA and the world of Windows mobile
Quite a lot of the registry tweaks can be don't in a user friendly way using a program called BSB Tweaks.The latest version is 1.6, so have a search for it here and install on your HD2.
That will probably keep you tweaking safely for a will.
thks for valuable advice,as now,i have come to understand why do i need to install the registry editor,however,i do not know the history of the window mobile phone,so can someone enlightened if there is any version on the registry editor and where can i get this.
Thank you in advance
There is a beta version of the Resco product you mention, which can be downloaded at their forum. This is the most convenient on your new touch capable device.
Please remember that playing around with registry settings can brick the system. In such a case, you will have to hard reset your device.
Also, I can only second what the other posters already recommended. Get to know your product step by step, especially with registry changes. Once you understand, it is no magic thing.
PHM RegEdit : http://www.4shared.com/file/61611749/7a9846ab/PHM_RegEdit.html
PHM Regedit "Import" grayed out
I am trying to import some previously saved reg files to my HD2. I just installed PHM Regedit from this thread but Import is grayed out on the Tools menu.
How can I import a registry file? Running the reg file directly opens PHM Regedit but does not import.
Thanks in advance!
I have used Win mobile for 4 years now, but just found XDA for 2 months ago.
So I searching for a guide 2 resco, so that i can unlock Bubble breaker + Solitere
And make screen prints like others on this side.

how to add registration info in .reg file??

ok my question in here might have been asked in the paaast but now i can not find the answer..
if we have serial no for some appz for registartion..
so every time when we flash rom or do hard reset wehave o set up owner name and enter that sn to that application./
what a ****..
so any way to create .reg file that contain info both owner name and sn for particular appzz.
like
XXXXX app
owner:XXXXXXX
SN:XXXXXXX
and voilaaaa cook it in rom and forget about everything

Just get sk tracker and use it to find where the registration keys are stored. Of course this stuff can be cooked in. I must have 20 paid-for apps that I cook in with all the reg info. It's usually in an obvious place (especially sk tools; c'mon, it takes no effort to find that one). It's normally just in the apps registry keys; sometimes it's a file (ae button; resco keyboard). In rare cases, it requires multiple reg keys that are kind of hidden (Phatware Database Editor).
I would expect you're already cooking in user settings, so you should have found some by accident. Don't tell me you input fresh preferences for SK Tools after every flash?!? The registration info for all SK software is all in hkcu/software/sk. You should just have the entire key in an app.reg in you sk tools package.
C`mon guys... dont do it again... you have all the info in the main stickie... check the so many regs tweaks thread link for that and dont hide the m,ain question with another bud... and dont prvide serials... is not good even if it isnt a real one or what ever...
Edited post.
if i m not wrong there is a pc tools that can make mortscripts..
if yes then anyone help me to find out..
i do just googling but not yeild whatt i want..
its only about mortsripts..
This isn't really a rom cooking question, anyway. This is a flashing/restoring question. The best place to find answers to questions about restoring user settings is in threads on sashimi or UC or XDA_UC. There are many threads out there that catalogue where user settings for specific applications are stored. Cooking them in is pretty trivial.
mortscript download has files to install both in pda or in desktop pc. The syntax is the same but some commands are restricted to the pda. In addition to xda_uc there are two other threads: the mortscript compendium and mortscript examples. you can restore provxml/xml files with mortscript, xda_uc, sashimi (they are all mortscript), with a cab, with a UC file, runcc, with sk tools and most of backup programs, etc, etc. you can do it sending keys to the screen or writing to the registry / restoring files. You can also restore many things: passwords, voice labels, contacts, configurations, bt pairings, wifi connections, email accounts, weather parameters, etc...It is a whole world but no distributed ROM should contain any registration keys.

Well, you'd be nuts to do that, since you'd also have to have your own owner info cooked into the rom. That's a recipe for disaster, lol. This is more for cooking personal roms (which is all that I do).
can someone hel me how to cook xda"uc?
i tried everything but that is not working

wifi on in standby

Guys,
I'm new in this forum so I wish say hi to everybody...
Then, I have an HTC diamond 2 (original rom) I've searched for the topic in the forum and I found just a solution working in my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=515808&page=3
I've downloaded the cab and everything is working fine, but, because on soft reset all the values return to the original one I'm forced to install the cab everytime, so it should be easier to create a button that is going to modify the following parameter in the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms]
"HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended"=dword:00000001
Is it possible? There is someone helping me?
I have to keep on the wifi in order to use my voip...
Thanks in advance,
Markuz
You can export that registry key and just insttall the registry instead of the cab if the settings aren't sticking.
