A seemingly trivial question I know, but which is best the black or the white - in regards to fingerprints, showing the dirt, general wear and tear etc.? - your opinions please

Thanks gerazzo, I've heard that too about the black ones - but I've got the dilemma that I prefer the black ones to the white ones, but the white ones do seem to be a bit more practical!

I had the black one first and after 12 hours of use it started to peel. So, now i have the white one which doesnt show any sign of peeling - BUT it is white, which i dont really like.
If you can live with the white color then go with the white one and you wont (probably) have the headache of paint problems.
Either way, most importantly the P3600 is a great device and you will enjoy the functionality regardless of the color of the casing.
Had three (3) Trinities now: Go for white. There is no peeling at all and fingerprints are nearly invisible. Only drawback: Others might think you have an Apple device
White! Just design a cool home screen.
I handled both for 5 minutes. A Black Trinity is like a black car, it looks great IF its clean but looks terrible when its dirty. After 5 minutes the finger prints bugged me.
Could just be my OCD self!
Well thanks guys, it sounds like I should go for the white one then - although I can't stand them in white! Why is nothing straight forward? Ho Hum.

No I think to buy one in UK, better pay more and have more risk instead get a black one with peeling.....
Oh a funny story beside: I ask an shop in Switzerland about the white one. The have but they said "No delivery to germany, come to Zurich and take one there" What????

anyone know of a side by side comparisson ? I thought I saw once a picture of the black one with the keys looking like the UX390N with the black keys and blue lights .. Haven't been able to find that picture again. Maybe it was a dream.

its really all about preference. Before the x1 came out, I had my mind set on getting it in black because I thought it was way better looking than the silver. Then I finally saw the silver in the store and didnt know what I was thinking when I wanted a black one. So i ended up getting silver

I have to say the black one looks better although I have the sliver one... again, due to my network O2 only does Silver, no point of switching networks over colours, The keyboard is silver on both colours, so it does make more sense on the silver handset. I dunno, it;s a hard choice, mayeb I am lucky in a way that I didn't have a choice!!
I much prefer the silver version, the metal look is more visible with the silver colour and it blends in nicely with the keyboard bit

It's unibody so grey alminium.....
Only thing may get other colours would be the plastic/rubber/plastic parts.

The unibody is made out of aluminium and with anodizing aluminium you can add colors even white is possible.
Though, I don't think they'll be doing different colors.
a white regular desire has been spotted maybe they'll relase a white desire and D'HD and the same time

Pull it apart. Get it anodized in your color and reassemble. See how easy that was...

Several of the live videos are showing it with a brown back. And many pictures flying around are showing it black.
So it seems to be available in 2 colors?

I've not seen the black version in any recent pics/video. Perhaps this was a pre-release version?? Would be nice to have confirmation what color and what type of screen the phone has before ordering!

haha yes all the pictures on htc suggest brown so id say its pretty safe to bet on a brown one
GSMArena says it comes in Black and Brown, new HTC video seems to show the desire HD in both black and brown too, black can be seen towards the end of the video (35s):

I'm still not convinced. The video still looks like the brown (graphite) one to me. The picture just looks like a palette swapped version of the other one.
I'm hoping something more conclusive can prove me wrong! I don't mind what colour I get really - but I still fullly expect there to only be one at launch.

Has anyone actually SEEN the elusive Black DHD?
I have my DHD on order, just got at notice that it is in the mail tomorrow and that it is the BLACK DHD. I am curious to see it.

I do not get your question. The only color I can order is black.
It only comes in the one colour which is a very dark brown which in some images appears as black depending on the lighting.
I hear that there is a 'dark brown' version AND a solid black version - as there is of the Desire itself I believe
So I got my DHD, and I am honestly not sure what color to call it.
To me, it looks more charcoal than either black or brown.
Call it gunmetal
Btw, forget all ideas about one black phone and that other one, there is ONLY ONE and it's dark brow/greynish color and black, looks very nice. Many people think there is a total black version but there isnt, its just different mixes when taking photos of ot, lot of it photoshop fixed i guess, so just forget about a total black version in the near future. I think this is pretty black.. gunmetal kinda look, it looks much better then it would in black only.
I'm not sure HTC know their colours very well. My desire was "dark brown" but was actually a shade of purpley gunmetal and my Desire HD was also advertised as "dark brown" but has the same purpley gunmetal at the back.
If there's one thing HTC does well, it's confuse forums all over the internet as to what colours their phones come in.
I've only seen it marketed as "Mocha" or "Black"
I've got the black one.
It's about the same black as the back cover of the HD2.

Could you take a photo of it next to a brown one for comparison please? Go into any shop selling the Desire HD - all the ones in the shops are the same colour as mine, which is a brown/charcoal/black.

I think everyone has now come to accept there is only one colour, whether it's advertised as black, mocha, graphite or brown.

Printed Label On Box

Does it tell you the colour on the printed label stuck to the box?
I pre-ordered mine from Play.com and when it came it honestly had no hint of brown whatsoever. If not black, it was a charcoal colour. Anyway, I had to send it back because it was faulty (kept rebooting when in standby for only a few secs) and I'm now seeing a lot of stores advertising it as brown/mocha. Unfortunately I no longer have the box so I can't check this, but with my HTC Hero the sticker on the box which has the barcodes printed on it states "HTC Hero White" so I'm wondering if any of your boxes have the colour printed on the label, something like "HTC Desire HD Mocha" etc.
If your box does have the colour printed on the label, please state it here and say what colour you would call the phone. Should help clear up whether there is only the one colour.

im pretty sure its still 1 colour, i think it depends on the lighting more than anything however the one i used in vodafone looked black to me but it was a very dark show room so could just be lighting meh, brown or black the colour is close and the device inside it is still the same so does it matter ?
its not like the hero that came in black, white, pink ect.... black and brown are so close it barely matters in this case imo
