I've been using RJV SMS Scheduler for a couple of months on my Alltel PPC-6800, and I really really love this app. I run a youth group and it has quickly become one of my favorite ways to communicate with around 60 people. I am able to send "mass texts" all at once to all 60 members of my youth group, and I can even schedule these group texts to automatically send on certain days/times.
The problem is that it has completely crashed twice on me. The first time, a re-install fixed the problem, although I had to re-setup my groups, and I lost all of my history. The second time a re-install did not work. It continues to crash and I am now unable to use it at all.
So...here's my question...does anyone know of any other app that does the same thing? This one was freeware, but I'm certainly open to paying for an app that does the same thing if I know it will work.
Thanks so much in advance for the advice!

I bought my girlfriend a T-Mobile wing for Christmas and she was pretty much jealous with my Wing, so she asked me to hook it up. And I did.
I installed the 750v SMS threading application on her phone (I have it on mine as well) and ever since then, her phone will send out duplicate text messages from time to time. I tried reformatting her phone and doing clean installs of the programs, no luck. I tried avoiding the SMS threading application and just recently her phone started doing it again.
Is there a bug in the Wing firmware or a SMS bug where the phone thinks it wasn't able to send the last SMS and tries to send it again? I'm really confused and it's annoying several of her friends (being the boyfriend, I have to be understanding so I can't let it get to me ). Many of them complain that they cannot afford her multiple texts, lol.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
many people have reported that when using programs which closer rather then minimize
programs when one click X
and closing outlook after sending a sms but before getting
the confimation that it was sendt
outlook goes crazy if it's terminated and will act just as you mention
Wow... now that I think about it, I set my SMS threader to Exclusive because it would take a long time to open the program inbetween texts. I didn't do this to my girlfriend's phone... and the only time the program gets terminated is through Free Up RAM by SKTools. I'll look into it, thanks!
I always had an issue with the palm threaded sms thing. It would send duplicate sms to certain people.
you should flash to wm6.1 and use the default threaded sms
or check out the program

I'm sure there's lots of people experiencing the same problem as me: a couple of my SMS conversations are huge, and as a result I have to wait a good 20-30 seconds before I can start typing every time.
Deleting them isn't really an option - I'm the kinda guy who doesn't like to delete anything and I like to have a record. Either way, deleting 30+ text messages at the end of every day isn't the most efficient use of my time anyway.
Does anyone have the skills to make, or know if anyone has already made, either:
- A patch that limits the number of texts shown in a conversation, OR
- A patch that allows you to start typing before the whole history has loaded.
It's the only thing frustrating me about the HD2 and it'd be a godsend to have it fixed.
Thank you in advance

You forget the wakeup at every SMS event which is TOO a REALLY frustrating problem which still with no answer
They should display the last 10 messages or something (I got no lag on about 10-20 messages) and an option in menu to load whole conversation.
also need a fix...it´s really horrible if you have a girlfried wiriting with and have to wait approx. 30 seconds to reply...
Just delete some messages. Keep the important ones but is there any need to keep the majority of text messages received? It's all clutter! OK so perhaps the HD2 should be able to cope but does it really need to cope?
sure...but its really annoying to take the time t delete them...but thanks for the tip...
2 years later the answer : save your sms with a dedicated app or to you PC with myphone explorer and delete the others =p
How do I only save certain amount of text on my phone? Say I would only like to keep the most recent 20 text messages for all the people on my contact list.
I found my phone tend to freeze when I try to reply to a txt when there's a lot of previous txt saved.
Thanks.
Hi, I don't believe that there is no way to set a threshold like you need automatically. I'm not always right though . The "freeze" effect is a known result of design features added by HTC to give you a more enjoyable user experience (hey, some users couldn't send texts properly for ages when this device first came out). Some of us use Microsoft Myphone to backup our texts and frequently delete locally stored texts to reduce the impact of the freeze effect that you have. I'm guessing that the more people that report this issue to HTC the more chance we have of them releasing a change (or admitting its a bug and releasing a fix).
Regards.
there is an app called sms purger http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549764
it lets you pick a date to delete all texts from there and before.
but so far since getting the hd2 ive just been deleting all texts from a person when it hits about 30 texts with them as ive had the freezing become a big issue
I do a lot of mass texting, and because you're only allowed to text 10 people per text I had to download a 3rd party app called group "group sms". So I sent all the texts out (about 140) and it says they all were successfully sent with 0 failed. Unfortunately some of the people that I have sent the text to say they never received it.
Has anyone run into this problem? Any suggestions? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
Thanks
I THINK Handcent(sp?) allows mass texting. Please don't quote me on this as I don't use it. My buddy owned a sports bar and used to send out mass text on UFC nights for promo and he never mentioned having to do 10 at a time which would have been horridly time consuming.

Hancent does have group texting within itself.
I personally use and app called group text. I have encountered people saying that they did not receive a text from me but I just assumed it was on their end because the majority of people received it.
I use Group SMS and I have this same problem a lot! I prefer Group SMS because it actually appears as different chat strings within your SMS program. For some reason not every one seems to get the text though. I may have to go away from Group SMS if this is the case. My current SMS program is Chomp SMS which I like for texting but it sends group texts out as one big text and doesn't allow macro usage the same way Group SMS does.
Bottom line, if you're just looking to send out a few group texts with more than 10 recipients but don't want to change your sms program, I'd put handcent or chomp on your phone and just not set it as the default texting app, but use it to send out messages to your groups. Both Handcent and Chomp allow you to send to groups created in contacts.google as well (without selecting each contact individually like the native app).
Hope this helps,
Brian
I'm not sure how helpful this will be but with in gmail there is a utility from which you can send out mass text's or mass emails you have to set it up using specific servers for sprint, at&t, verizon and t-mobile. This is really only useful if you have a set list of people you want to send out texts to a list that doesnt frequently change. I apologize for not having more information as i very rarely use this feature. But it might be worth y'all taking a look.
I've looked throughout the forum and I haven't found any concrete answer to my problem. Is there any way I can receive group texts across platforms? So if my friend sends a text from his iphone to multiple people (including other iphone and android users), it will show in one thread? If there is a solution, can someone post step by step instructions? I saw that ATT messages does this but I don't like the UI. Sorry, I am new to android and would really appreciate the help.
EDIT: Also, if my friend sends that group text, if does show up in a thread, when I respond I want the app to respond back to everyone in that thread....thanks for the help guys
Without a 3rd party app, it's not possible. If your friends get Chat On or Whatsapp (I have both and they are both very good since they use data instead of cell to send messages. Also super fast), you could group chat across all platforms.
EDIT: Also some extra info about the apps, they are connected to your phone number so as long as anyone installs it, you will see them on your list. No need for usernames or anything, it uses your number. I also prefer the Whatsapp app because I guess it's a bit cleaner you could say but they are both good.
You can do group texting with Handcent and goSMS...need to enable an option in settings.
