I was wondering if there was a way to rotate the screen 90 degrees while in vista. If it could be rotated that woul be asier to use it as slate with touchscreen/pen input.
I tried looking thru the display setting and the intel graphic software but no luck.
The screen orientation settiings are in Control Panel, Tablet PC settings, Display tab. However in this case it only offers Primary Landscape.
Screen rotation controls should also be in the Windows Mobility Center in control panel, but are missing. Looks like HTC deliberately removed the option.
You could try this -

thanks for the idea.. I gave it try but the software crashes when you try rotate the screen. I will have to keep looking.
G-sensor
So Why is in device manager G-SENSOR ?
I think is it Gravity sensor determining rotation of screen.
Then should be able automatic rotate screen.
As is it on some digital photo cameras......
The G sensor is for the HDD I believe.

Ah, now you know why I gave it such a positive review . But isn't that why it comes with Shag Control?

Anyone tried this app on the athena? (as it also has an accelerometer) If so does it work?

Would be brilliant if it works but my hopes aren't high as I couldn't find anything on the topic.

looks like a nice tool, but after I installed on my Ameo I tried to use GSen Version 1.40.
But a window popup with following message :
cannot connect to GSensor (1)
mhh, doesn't run on Ameo ... and delete it ...
Ameo, t-mobile ROM version 6
btw: I've now asked the developer why GSen is not running on Ameo ... hope I get an answer..
Accelerometer
Hey,
I've installed it on my HTC Advantage X7510 with WM6.! Professional, and I can confirm that it works.
When I'm in the today screen and I turn the PDA it does turn in Landscape and Portrait mode with no problem great at last it works.
Thanks for the link if anybody what's me to try anything please let me known.
Thanks
Gigino
I am happy for you gigino, but I am in the same boat as palmchen (have a X7500 with t-mobile WM6 ROM).
Perhaps the interface to the sensor is slightly different between WM6 and 6.1
I am sure it can't be that difficult to access it from WM6. Hopefully the developer will be able to implement it or give some clue which will assist some brainbox from this community in hacking this version to get working with WM6. In my eyes this is one of those killer apps.
I tried this on wm6.1, and had the same error message.
IMO the answer is simple: it works using HTC VUEFLO .dll. X7510 has those dll, x7500 doesn't!
In AP4 or AP5 it will work

mhh, simple question?
could you please provide the new vueflo.dll for the old devices ?
If it only a dll to change that should be not a problem, or ?
btw: I've asked the developer, but he told me that he is to busy and have no time in the moment to update this programm.
Thanks for this. It is a great find. Works well with my X7510.
This is a must have application for the X7510. It is just amazing.

For some it is a must have. For others, it is an annoyance and irritation.
only because we can't get it working!
Sorry guys, we doesn´t have these devices for testing.
We just was surprised about the info, our tool is working on HTC Advantage X7510.
Also we not know the reason why it is not working on HTC Advantage X7500.
Possible reasons:
- missing/different software driver
- different ROM/ACU version
- missing needed hardware
As i said, we cannot test because of missing hardware.

Not because of that. It was working all right.
I hated this auto rotate thing because 9 out of times the rotate happens against my wish, and it slows my device.
After the initial few minutes of novelty, I was already wanting to switch it off.

Thanks for the info, but I still far prefer assigning rotate screen to a hardware button and just press that when I want to rotate.

No, I don't, there are SOME dll, you can find it in the AP4 / AP5 ROM. I agree, the rotation is too slow and the screen rotation is useless and time consuming 90% of time. My brain is much faster in image rotation and my finger is slower than brain but acts only when needed

Screen rotation is fast on mine. Might be ROM or today screen related in yours.
The speed you can change in settings: #timeout(value) - default value 1000 ms

I have tried it, but still I get the message that the gsensor cannot be found.

Oeps it just start working. I noticed the veuflo was disabled.
can anyone post those .dll files, so others can use them? thanks
Folks,
I only got my baby yesterday, but is anyone else finding this?
For me, the device will only switch to landscape mode for Opera, Photos & Videos, and Teeter. Not in TouchFlow 3D Home or any of its tabs, Mobile Office apps, TomTom 7, ...anything!
I've tried turning off Touchflow 3D and rebooting with no effect and with the G-Sensor there is no manual setting to force landscape.
This makes the keyboard in TomTom tiny and means that the screen isn't that much more usable for Office apps than my venerable old 2.8" TyTn.
Please could someone tell me if it's just my phone that's afflicted or is it a "feature"?
Thanks!

no thats totally normal. and known since the first infos of the HD came out.
If you really want full landscape switching, get Gyrator2 or Gsen. both can be found on this forum
It doesn't help you, JTHM, but I hardly ever use landscape mode in my Touch (Elf) so perhaps the way the Touch HD works is by design for people like me. The only time landscape mode offers any advantage to me is for photos, videos and web browsing. With the mini USB connector at the bottom, my Touch is always in its cradle in portrait orientation and it sits in the car more easily this way too.
I'm surprised there's no manually-activated landscape option in the software though.
(Sorry that this post doesn't really help you but perhaps it illustrates that for some (maybe most?) users the lack of landscape isn't a problem at all and may therefore be by design.)
Hang on, can I clarify.
I like to use my xda2i in landscape with my bluetooth travel keyboard sometimes. Does this mean that i can't just rotate the screen to landscape and use it in landscape mode with my keyboard??

I think that raziel1 has already answered that question? Use Gyrator2 or Gsen both of which can be found in this forum.
It does seem to be missing a trick by not have some software button built in to switch the screen though.
I had one flaw with the HD: The typing. I wanted (like Iphone) to use the keyboard in landscape so i had more room for my fingers. But the HD doesn't do that standard.
I installed Gyrator 2 and set it to switch to landscape when i use my keyboard. In every application, now when I use my keyboard and tilt the device, the screen rotates.
It made my HD even better.
Which is better? Gsen or Gyrator? I know they have other features but I only want an app to rotate landscape and uses minimal memory as I guess it needs to be running on start up.
ok, gyrator is a PROGRAM. I thought it was another handset or something. oh as long as there is soemthing you can do te get the landscape working that's sweet for me. I'm really close to buying one of these beasts!
I'm surprised that TomTom doesn't rotate automatically.
I've sure I've seen screen shots of it in Landscape mode and wouldn't have thought those web site's had installed any other third-party screen orientation software.
Beards.
You can also purchase Resco keyboard. It has large keys that you can use with your fingers. Well that depends how big your fingers are. Best to download a copy of the program, install it and test it out.
And since the screen is 3.8, it should give you plenty of space on top to see your message?

yeah, after another reboot it's working now. tried it in a couple apps and seems fine so far... funny thing is with the streaming video app, when you go to fullscreen it auto rotates the screen, but as soon as you move the hd to landscape position gyrator rotates it again... will need to check out the docs on how to add exceptions.

there are several threads addressing screen rotation under Vista but as far as I can tell, nobody has actually gotten the screen to rotate to primary portrait mode. Do the latest Intel drivers for Vista actually support primary portrait/primary landscape rotation, or is this still an issue?
Not as of yet as far as i know.
irotate
there is a program that i used once in XP that rotates the screen i dont know if it will work in vista and i cant try it since my shift its on the way but its worth the try
programs is called irotate.

I was going to buy the HD today, but just saw one terrible point in gsmarena and stop buying it. The issue is- The HD doesn't have an option for landscape auto rotation or the landscape keyboard for Messaging,it's only available for Web browsing. Is that true? If it is then i am not gonna buy it. Please rep ASAP.
It is not true. It just doesn't work out of the box but if you install Gyrator, GSen or Flip-It it works perfectly.
Correct, you need to install one of the above, and it auto rotates no problem. I use Gyrator, very user friendly
Install ChangeScreen from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466858
Best app for what you need.
Basically it allows either 2 modes.
It will rotate to landscape at any screen/application other than the ones you specify not to.
or
It will only rotate on the screens/apps you want it to.
I have set it to the latter so that it only rotates on messaging and rss reader app.
Much less complicated than the apps mentioned above.

Hello all,
I would like to solve the BSOD issue with aero enabled in 1024 with Windows 7. I need your help... I'm looking for a print screen of a vista device with working 1024 + AERO .. I want to see both the Display adapters and Monitor sections in the Device Manager (click on the arrow to extend it please).
I would also like to know the driver version used by Vista.
I would appreciate to get screenshots of Driver Details too (in Driver tab of the properties).
Thank you very much .. I hope we will be able to fix it !
nobody still using Vista ? I can't believe that there are users that always are the first to say that there are issues... but when it comes to take a screenshot they all disappear...
is it that hard to go to device manager and take a print screen of the monitor and display section?
I would do it, but there's no print screen button on shift keyboard...
