I want to wake up to some music that's on my Pocket PC. Is there a program that allows me to change sounds in a way so that I can wake up to it?
change the song to wav and put it in the windows dir
try using wolfclock- it is freeware and i use it. you can set up so that music wakes you up and it has many other features!!!

You can use MortPlayer for this. In case you haven't heard about it yet, it's probably one of the best audio players currently availible (in stable non-beta version).
It has an option to wake you up by starting playback of your playlist, a custom sound, or by first playing a custom sound (like a ring) and then the playlist. It also has nice snooze option with customizable snooze time, activated by a big onscreen button (not trough small menus like in standard WM alarm). Also, there's no limit on number of times you use snooze.
Grab it here:
http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&entry=mp_program&action=list
Also, get a skin that supports the alarm function and has nice big buttons for snooze and disabling alarm, like DarkGlass or CleanGlass (get them here: http://www.sto-helit.de/downloads/pocketpc/mp-skins/)
As a bonus, you'll also have an option for playing music when going to sleep (for a customizable time)
Thank you so much.

I am looking for a very small program that does one simple thing. Change my ringer profile from ring to vibrate when my appointment status is busy. Then when I don't have an appointment turn back to ringer! I don't want to have a today screen plugin, I just want it to run in the background. I don't need a whole lot of options. Actually none at all just the ability to while in a meeting to automatically switch the profile to vibrate like you would by clicking on the sound icon on the taskbar and switch it to vibrate, and then back again when the meeting is over. Anyone have an ideas, or could tell me how to go about creating such a program!
I have looked at numerous other program that just have to many options. The only option i need is stated above. Thanks
Not exactly what you are looking for, but this program is great. It even has a scheduler for each profile.

yeah already looked at that just has to many features! All i need is switch from ring to vibrate mode when appointment is sheduled! Thanks for the reply though!
Try phoneAlarm (not freeware), it does the job.
to many options in that as well. I don't want a today item to have to be running to use the program either. I tried to use that and I really didn't like how it worked. seemed to really slow my system down and took up space on my today screen!
i want to use my magician as an mp3 player, but is it possible to turn the screen of while playing audio? maybe there is some application or mediaplayer which let me turn the screen off to save battery power? is it even possible to turn the screen off while playing audio (thus using the pda function)?
I use VJ device lock. It locks the device and then turns off the screen. You will have to create a shortcut that runs the app with this flag: -pwroff
I have mine setup on the right soft key and it works a treat.
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJDeviceLock
or use GSplayer, it has an option "display off"
pBar is also a good alternative...and it is a good task manager...IMHO
gsplayer is nice, i especially like the button assignment (next, forward etc.) which works with the screen of.
vjdevice lock does not work (invalid pocketpc application error). pbar looks nice!
i already was looking for a task manager, so i'll try pbar out!
any experience with how much running time you get out of a single charge when using as a mp3player with screen off?
thanx
Theres a setting in Media player, to tell it what to do when you press the middle button. Mine is set to turn the screen off which works great.
Anyone know an alarm clock with finger friendly alarm time settings? Maybe like a phone dial pad, so you can directly type the time you want to wake up - for example 0845 -> 08:45 o`clock? Thanks
i like the way the default alarm clock works - drag the hour and minute hands - only wish that the clock is bigger
Sure, if the clock were a bit bigger and more finger-friendly... I use snowtime at the moment which is ok, but a little buggy with WM6. But regular cell phones have an alarmclock with numbers so you can type the exact wake up-time very easy.... wish my ppc had that
Why don't you go for SPB Time? http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/time
It's very fingerfriendly. I use it for myself for about a year now and really like it!
An alarm clock that works
Here's my input. 3 or 4 years ago I looked for a long time for a simple alarm clock that worked, with or without passwords enabled; without me having to remember to turn anything on; with loud alarms that sounded for as long as I wanted. The only one, from both free and commercial, that met my requirements was pTravelAlarm, which you can find at www.burroak.on.ca It is not the most interesting to look at, and is probably one of the least feature rich programs; but you can use your own sounds if you are not happy with the ones provided, and it will sound at full blast for as long as you want. It just does what it claims to do: waking you up!
I have problem how my Touch HD handles Alarms and Reminders. Not sure that this is WM 6.1 general problem or Touch HD specific but I would appreciate any help regarding this.
When I set alarm (clock settings) or create new appointment I expect from my phone to play sound until I do something about it. But that doesn't happen. When Alarm/Reminder starts, everything is ok but... After sound is played first time, there is almost 1 minute delay. And after that delay sound is played at same interval twice more times and that is it. Phone goes back to standby mode and until I power on manually I wont see message popup, or in most cases just a small bell icon in title bar.
My setting are pretty simple - everything is checked under Sounds and Notification:
Enable sounds for: Events, Programs, Notifications, Screen Taps, Hardware buttons
For Reminder event: Play sound (Alarm-Rooster), Repeat, Display Message on screen, Flash light for 5 minutes, Vibrate.
My questions are:
1) Is there possibility to loop sound while it is playing? Not just repeat at "unknown" intervals
2) Is there possibility to repeat alarm/reminder until it is turned off?
3) Is there way to have some notification window which can't be put in background until I do something about it.
I am not heavy user, so I don't check regularly what is going on on my mobile. But I do expect to be somehow notified when some important events happens (sounds, blinking, vibrate - just not led, because I can barely see it).
I tried to find program which handles alarms, notification and run into PhoneWeaver which is great but problem remains. As I understand PhoneWeaver rely on WM Alarms and Notifications behavior. It just adds convenient notifications for SMS, E-mails.
What bugs me is that I have now perfectly working notification when Email, Missed Call or SMS arrives. It will repeat chosen sound on certain periods of time until I do something about it. And standby doesn't have anything to do with it.
But problem still remains, Alarm and Reminder sound notification is repeated just three time until phone back to the Standby mode and that is it. If I don't see it then, I won't until I turn on phone.
Any ideas?
if I snooze an event for 1 hour, it comes back with a reminder in 30 minuets
WinMo handling of notifications is horrible IMHO
it may have been good enough back in the days of WinMo 2003 but it's just annoying now
my biggest gripes
*not enough snooze intervals (or a custom snooze time)
*wakes up the whole device to show u the alert
plus it's buggy
if I snooze an event for 1 hour, it comes back with a reminder in 30 minuets
does anyone else have this issue and maybe know a fix?
Is there any custom application that handles default WM behavior regarding alarm/reminders and notification? I found few, but all of them are just providing handy UI and keep using buggy WM. At the moment I am using PhoneWeaver in order to have profiles like on my Nokia. But look like it doesn't have full support for HD because I can't even change sound for Reminder.

I want know also how I can fix that. I have ticked "show message on screen" and then a "bubble" comes on the screen when I have alarm/appointment, but that works only once. Next time I have a alarm or appointment, theres only bell icon on top bar.
I check settings and "show message on screen" is unticked! Help?

I found a same issue with Touch Pro, that's really annoying problem
The cure (almost)
Yes the repeating alarm/reminder thing is a bit weak to say the least I REALLY need to know if I've missed a call, SMS, meeting etc. There's a real nice powerful app called PhoneAlarm which does everything you could possibly want. Almost too customizable. The problem is it relies on the Today plugin but most of us are using HTC's TF3D which disables all the plugins. I've tried a few others but ended up with something called "Best Reminder" - corny name I know but its ok'ish. Try it in case it helps.
SPB Phone Suite, IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DOWNLOAD, it has a repeating alarm bug fixes, and also repeated notifications for SMS/emails/Missed calls.
Try it, its sweet!

Sorry, I forgot to mention this:
No need to enable the Today plugin, just Set it, and forget it!
Will try it...

If it's from SPB it should be good
I'm just having another go with http://www.pocketmax.net/alarmPal.html. Last time I tried alarmPal it kept crashing but this time round its on the device memory and seems ok so far. Its cheap too. "Best Reminder" is a half solution so hopefully one of these should work out.
On my Kaiser, when I got a text message a long MP3 would play which I could cancel by pressing the Red call hang up button.
Very annoyingly on the HD2 there doesn't seem to be any way to stop the MP3 so it just keeps on playing for a few minutes. The hang up button just switches off the display but the song carries on playing.
Anyone have an idea for a workaround?
You simply cut the favorite part of your mp3 and use that as a ringtone?
Unfortunately it's not that simple. I need the whole MP3 to play until I cancel it.
As I need the text message to wake me up if sleeping or be heard from another room etc.
I don't have an HD2 yet, but can't you just turn it over to stop the tone?
Just tried that, doesn't work.

Can't believe no-one else is being bugged by this problem?
the only way i found out is long pressing end call button and tap "set vibrate".. also pretty disappointed by this behaviour
This happens on all htc devices (and as far as i know on all windows mobile phones), your sms tone is set to ALERTS, meaning that it will play the whole song before it stops. I think you should switch to a shorter alert tone.
It doesn't happen on all windows phones as my Kaiser could stop the song, but I was using a newer 6.5 build I guess, although I did think all 6.5 roms had the capability of stopping the mp3.
does it still play when you've read the text msg?
Yes unfortunately it carries on playing.
then I've got nothing...
tried looking in settings under the sound and notifications?
Yes
I think it's just a fault that hasn't been fixed in 6.5 but has in 6.5.1. So once custom roms are out that will be a solution.
default notification
and whats the default SMS ringtone ,does it have a short one preinstalled?
Pressing the volume rocker used to stop this on my diamond
Has anyone with the new 1.61 rom found this problem has been fixed?

I got all my tracks in Storage Card/My Documents, when I change my ringtones they appear in the list.
I haven't found any solutions to stop the sms but when it is a calendar related the music stops as soon as you press dismiss or view the appointment, perhaps there is a key there that can be transferred to sms functions?
