Have to restart phone to regain GPRS connetion

I Have to restart phone to regain GPRS connetion every now and then. I have radio version 1.01.00 and rom version 1.03.00 WWE. My provider is Vodafone in sweden.
If I go to flight mode and back to normal then I can connect to GPRS again. Should I uppgrade my I-Mate to get it to work? Any Ideas what to do?

I've heard of people with similar problems, you need to upgrade your Rom, if you wanna stay relatively safe, upgrade to:
Rom Version: 1.72.00WWE
U can get this from club imate

I'm afraid I can´t find the rom on the Imate Club site. But you belive my problem will be solved by uppgrading the rom right? I´ll have to search for it then. ;c) Thanks.

I sure don't see any version 1.72 on Club iMate at JAM Device Support. The latest available upgrade I see is:
Radio 1.01.00
ROM 1.03.143 WWE
Where do you see version 1.72?

I believe he's referring to the wrong device. 1.72 was for the I-Mate Pocket PC - not the Jam.

Ok. I have posted a case to Imate and they where about to send a file to correct the problem but I got an emty mail.

Imate support don't know what this is. I'm back on the hunt. Anybody else having the same problem with theirs? Please let me know in this thred

Got an ansver from Imate. They sent me an PDF file where they showed me how to set up the GPRS connection. The problem is, been there and done that. I’m totally lost here. Is it only me who has this problem with “magican” and Vodafone? (In Sweden). Frustrating! ;c(
Note: With my P800 and the same location and same SIM = no probem at all.

I have the exact same problem with GPRS. I am also a customer of Vodafone in Sweden. I have this problem regardless of the device I am using. I have been running Qtek 2020, 8010, 9090 and S100 (magician) devices with the same problem for quite a while now.
I have started to think that this is not a device problem. It is probably a problem with Vodafone GPRS. I have contacted their tech support a couple of times about this. So far we have tried disabling/reenabling GPRS on my account and switching to new Sim-cards. None of this has worked so far.
I am using their twin cards service switching between different phones, I am not sure if this has anything to do with the problem.

Solution: I know that Telia supports the magican device because they have them for sale. My solution was to call Telia and tell them that I wanted to use them instead. Its a covards solution but Imate blames Vodafone and Vodafone blames Imate.

I have an old Qtek1010 on Telia, and it is behaving just like your Magician on Vodaphone. Sometimes I have to actually remove the SIM and put it back in again to be able to reconnect.
Another question about the Magician and GPRS. I have read on a couple of forums that the Magician will not keep the GPRS connection alive when in "sleep mode". Is this true? If so I may have to quickly cancel my order...

My gprs connection seems to stay connected ok even when the machine is switched "off". I have an imate jam on o2 in the UK.
I don't know if it stays on forever because i tend to log off gprs so i can go on line through bluetooth.

This is really bad news. I thought that since Telia do have thoose phones for sale they should have tested them in the net. In that case I should start thinking of going back to my old P800 instead of changing provider.
I Wonder if there are someone in here who it works for in sweden. Please let me know.

I have several collegues who are not experiencing these problems with Qtek devices on Vodafone network. So it does not seem to be a general problem.

I just talked to Telia today as my GPRS broke down totally and there was just nothing that would make it connect. The person I talked to was very helpful and professional and we managed to isolate the problem to my SIM card. Being a brand new SIM I received just two weeks ago I though that just anything but the SIM would be more probable. It was very evident though as my SIM would not work with GPRS in neither mine nor a colleauges phone but the colleauges SIM would work just fine in both.
My new SIM will arrive on monday, and then hopefully it will not be too long before my S100 arrives as well

Ok, thats somewhat god news. Then there is hope to accually use this expensive piece of toy as it is suppose to.

I have a Qtek S100 and run it with Telia. Works just fine, never have to reset or remove the SIM. However, I have problem with the GPRS to disconnect when synchronized with my PC and when using the phone. Have heard that an app called GPRS Keep Alive would solve that problem, haven’t tried it yet.

It will not. For two reasons:
1. There can only be one network connection at a time, and the activesync connection counts as a network connection (you can use network passthrough to use the activesync connection for network access from the PPC).
2. You can not have a GSM voice connection and an active GPRS connection simultaneously because they share the same radio hardware. Simultaneous GPRS and Voice would need two radios in the phone, and although it has been part of the GSM specification for quite some time there are no such device available on the consumer market yet.

Must reboot IMate PPC (XDAII) after every call - HELP?

I have an IMate PPC (XDAII) with the factory installed Windows 2003, and service from AT&T (Cingular). Starting about a months ago, I've had to reboot my phone after a call in order to make another call or to receive one.
Before I try hard-reseting my phone or reflashing the roms, I want to find out whether anyone has an idea about whether the problem might be software, firmware, or hardware related. The phone works great, I just need to keep rebooting to keep it working. Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

I have exactly the same problem with my Orange SPV M1000. I've searched the forum very well. I could only find the same problem and no solutions.

Problem with basic phone call function

Hi all the buddies out there...
Did anyone experience problem with making calls and receiving incoming calls? I tested the ROM without any add on application installed. When I call my mobile, the first attempt will not be able to connect and it will end up into my voice mailbox. Second attempt will wake up the phone and get connected. Sometime, first few calls will be also failed.
About making calls, sometime I can't dial out and need to try few times. It make me very frustrated with the problems of the basic function of a "phone". I really appreciate any suggestions or fixes you may be aware. Many thanks.

Make sure you hardreset with NO/YES/YES options.

Thanks for your reply. Of course I do hard reset everytime I upgrade my BA code and when I wanted to clean up my phone. This is a normal procedure.
I believe everyone who is using it as a phone will not live with the phone function problem. I would appreciate whoever ever experienced this problem and have the work around method can share with me. Billion thanks and hope I can really get a solution. It is really frustrating...

i read your previous posts (re WM5 roms), and it is puzzling why your unit exhibits problems on calls even then...
is your radio already v1.15?

I did not have any call function problem with the earlier version of WM5. Ever since I upgraded my WM5 to newer version, I started to have the phone's problem.
I tried to downgrade the radio firmware from 1.15 to 1.13 to 1.12.
1.12 so far give me the least problem. I experienced drop calls occasionally, but huge reduce in incoming call problem. I still can live with sometime cannot make outgoing calls. The most important, people can reach me more consistently.

I had this problem on Orange UK; a new SIM card fixed it. Try borrowing a SIM card from another phone and see if the problem still exists for you.

I experience the problem with Radio 1.12.
When I upgrade to 1.15, the problem is gone.

hello since I have problems with the sound of my BA can you please send me your complete software like : ROM, radio, and others so i can try to fix the sound rings and during the call volume too low...please

TyTN is on but calls are not getting through

I have an HTC branded TyTN and even though the phone is on and the reception shows strong the calls are not getting through. Also when I try to make calls they are droped.
This does not happen all the time but very often. I miss about half of my calls.
Anybody has any ideas?

Need a little more info to help solve your problem.
1. Where are you located.
2. Who is your service Provider
3. Has the phone ever worked right with this provider
4, How long have you had the phone and was it new or used when you got it.
5. Does it still have the same Rom and Radio on it as when you got it.
6. What versions are those.
7. Have you tried a hard reset
Answer these for starters and let's see what we can do to help you out.

I am located in Cyprus and the service provider is cytamobile-vodafone. The phone was purchased from expansys.com.cy
It worked fine for more than a year. Although this particular problem occured very rarely during the first year.
I know of at least one more person who experienced this problem for a short period of time but it was sorted out on its own.
The only update I made to the phone was installing Windows mobile 6 from the official HTC website. The phone worked fine for a few months after the update.
No other update of any rom was made.
I tried a hard reset but it did not help.

OK, and thanks for the response. Based on what you have said, my only other suggestion would be to check your version of radio installed. If you are unfamiliar with how to do that, it appears on the screen at every reboot, or, you can go to settings, device info and it is listed there. I am unfamiliar with service Providers in Cyprus, so I would suggest doing a search of the forums to see if you can find another user with your service provider and a similar phone to see which radio works best for them. If I remember right, the WM6 update from the HTC site, does flash a new radio also, and that may be the problem. If you can't find anything, start a new thread with a title like best radio for cytamobile-vodafone in Cyprus, and hopefully you will only get relevant responses from fellow countrymen.
Does anyone else have any ideas to help this fellow XDAer out? Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Problems with connectivity after Hard-reset.

Well, I hard resetted my phone, cuz it was bricked, but now I have a very bad connection with my provider. Sometimes it's at 2 bars, sometimes it just searches for the network. I didn't EVER have this before, does someone know how to fix this? WM6 with no other shizzle on it.
It's very ****ed up when u have to send a SMS to someone or the phone just cancels the call to someone cause of the problem.

What device do you have? What rom are you using? what's your provider?

- I'm using WM6 standard, after hardreset i didnt do anything
- i have Hi KPN (living in Holland/netherlands)
Seriously, when im outside sometimes i still dont have any connection.
