After a call, you get a status screen which stays on for approx 10sec. I find it very annoying and would like to change that.
thank you
Please help on this issue
Hi, anyone knows of a tweak to reduce the time the "phonecall" screen stays up ? it is very annoying when switching calls or to quickly do something after a call.
many thanks for the help
I reprogrammed the buttons on my Polaris to work as "Startmenu" (left) and "OK/Close" right.
This way I can quickly access the startmenu without having to stretch my thumb across the whole screen and I can quickly make the call windows dissapear by pressing "Red/End" and "OK/Close" which is the same key Alternatively you can double press "Red/End" to end up on the Today screen.
Unfortunately I think there is no such thing as a registry edit to tweak that setting.
ok, thanks a lot for the tip

I did that but it is still not disable the short cut in my device.
Any more help?
Last time I checked I think it was Message button and action button. I dotn think this is something u can change. It is a hardware safety feature in case someone where to totally screw up ur alignment, you wont have to hard reset to get it working again.
Cause once the screen alignment is messed up there is no way to get to the alignment app. (without that hardware shortcut)
Later; Lew
P.S. Someone asked about this before, I cant remember what the final verdicted was thoe, search the board.
Thank but Can I change the short cut to somethings else?
Also What is the name of old topic so I can search (I did before making this post but could not fin it)
Thank you guy very much for great help!!!
Anybody know know to turn off the LED on the hardware buttion like Start, OK, and IE.
Any kind of registry setting that will turn off that light on those button?
I'm curious why you would want to take away such a useful things away. Currently I use all the hardware button and wish there are more available. I use it for things such as changing SIP, rotate screen, start IGO, and control myp3 (such as volume up, volume down, next song, previous song, blank out screen, bring up the playlist, pause, unpause. This is while the device remains inside my belt pouch). The ok button is extremely useful in doing things such as hiding the phone application after use. Similarly if you're using program such as VITO fun contact, you could hide it after use without having to exit this extremely memory tiny application and able to instantly access your contact again anytime. Why would you want to disable all these useful features?

I suppose he just wants to turn off the light of the buttons to gain some more battery time, not to disable their use. Though I doubt you would gain so much by disabling the leds.
I noticed a gain in battery time when I disabled the blinking LEDs, but they blink all the time unlike the button LEDs which are only on sporadically. So I agree that disabling the button LEDs won't gain you anything.
I just think that the LED or the light is annoying. I didn't mean to disable the function.
The light around the joystick is fine. So any solution ??

I don't think the keyboard has backlight. There is no light at all as I know....So this is not an option.
EDIT: Well i finally found it:

works on trinity! thanks vijay555!! i use vjtoggletoday on every boot now i add another super useful file by you many thanks!!
every time i press the voice speed dial button and the record button simultaneously it sends me to the screen alignment tool.
is there a way maybe a registry change to not send me to that screen when i press those buttons?
even in games and apps where i have the keys remapped to those two keys as soon as i accidentally press them together it makes me realign the screen its frustrating. TiA!
well after more messing around i realize it is the action button and the voice speed dial buttons pressed together to launch screen alignment.
like i said it is horrible feature it interrupts everything i try to do. please someone help me disable this. anyone?
Quick and silly one, just not in the mood for reading the manual.
Which is the button 1 that can be modified in the start/settings/buttons screen?
It should only be editable the press and hold of this button, but not sure which one it is. tried them all, none seems to work.
LATER EDIT: it seems it is the button you may press on the stereo handsfree in the package. But even in this case, even if i changed default behaviour from voice dial to, lets say, comm manager, it i press it and keep it pressed, it still starts the voice dial. any clue?
EDIT2: Found it, its the Green Call button, the one used to answer calls. If you keep it pressed it can call any application you define in start/settings/buttons screen.
thx
volume down button
I tried it but it does not work
I tried it but it does not work ... I held the volume down button, nothing happend
you can also set it to perform a manual rotate too.
it does require a reghack along the lines of hklm\system\gdi\rotation iirc to enable that option in the 'button1' assignment menu.
also, if you change the 'landscape' dword from 4 to a 2, then it'll rotate 90deg rather than 270deg.
disclaimer: registry references are done off the top of my head; if the reg key isnt present then your in the wrong area i recall the definate answer is somewhere in these forums if you want definate info!
Anyone know how to disable the hardware buttons for the incoming call screen?
I only want to answer/reject calls with the slider, not the hardware buttons as I sometimes touch them by accident while getting the phone out of my pocket.
I've tried PocketShield but didn't like it, although it was able to disable the hardware buttons. Any other suggestions?
Have you already tried s2u2? The slider can receive/reject incoming calls and you also have options to disable the hardware buttons. Works great on my elf.
I tried it some days ago, couldn't get it to work the way I wanted it to, mainly because I don't want to use the locking part. I always lock my device with the power button and I only wanted to have the ability to disable the hardware buttons for incoming calls.
After your message, I decided to install it again and give it another try. Changed some of the settings and I think I finally managed to get it working the way I want to!
It's a bit of a memory consuming app for just disabling the hardware buttons for incoming calls, but hey, it works
Thanks!
If anyone finds a solution without using S2U2, please let me know!
Ok, I have uninstalled S2U2 again. Even though it did do the job, it was also a memory consuming application just for disabling the answer/reject keys during incoming calls and I want to keep my device as clean as possible.
I have searched for hours trying to find a solution to this what I think is a very common problem. How many of you have accidentally accepted or rejected calls because of the hardware buttons? In my opinion, HTC should have thought about this and provide a solution for it.
Anyone with a better solution than S2U2?
Thanks for your input!
New version 1.40 of S2U2 uses MUCH less battery. I almost don't notice, it's running. Great program at least for me.
Since your previous post S2U2 1.4 has been released. This is supposed to address the issues you mention.
can you tell me how you have set your settings for just disabling the hardware buttons for incoming calls in s2u2 ? Thanks
I've used AE Button Plus to disable the 'Answer Call' an 'End Call' hardware keys as I had the same annoying problem of accidentally rejecting a call when taking the device out of my pocket. This works well for me and have now enabled the keys to turn wifi and bluetooth off and on with 3 taps.
Thanks everyone!
I wasn't aware of the latest S2U2 version and I almost gave it another try until I read Anfloyd's post.
I did look at AE Button Plus before, but didn't think it was capable of doing what I wanted: disable the hardware buttons during incoming calls, but still have them functional when there isn't an incoming call (such as showing the phone dial screen which it does by default).
When I looked at the AE Button Plus website, I noticed I couldn't configure the buttons based on the current active screen/program. So, even though I knew I could disable the hardware buttons, I thought I would then loose the whole functionality of them..and that would make the answer and reject buttons on my device useless.
BUT, after reading your message Anfloyd, it got me thinking..I don't need to configure it based on the current screen/program. I can just disable the buttons for 1 tap..and assign programs for them for 3 taps for example.
So, now I have this:
- 1 tap: do nothing. This way, both the answer and reject buttons are not working during incoming calls and I can only use the slider to accept/reject calls.
- 3 taps for answer button: start the phone application.
- 3 taps for reject button: nothing yet, but I'll find something
This is a solution I can work with! I have only tested it for a short time, so if it turns out that AE Button Plus is causing problems I'll give the latest S2U2 another try, but so far this seems to be working just fine.
Thanks again for your input!
ChrisVDD, those options can be found in the S2U2 settings. I don't have S2U2 installed anymore so I don't remember the exact settings. I just disabled all locking features that I didn't need, selected to disable the hardware buttons and chose to use the slider. Give it a try, you should be able to sort it out. If you can't, let me know and I'll install S2U2 again to see what settings you need.

Thank you for your fast reply, now It works like I wanted it to do.
Is it possible to end call using red hardware button but not to ignore it before answering? I tried AEBplus and it works like it should but that's not all I needed.

The problem I have with s2u2 is that I cannot mute incoming calls... The voulme buttons are locked... the touch screen is locked and mute on face down also does not work....
Maybe A_C will allow us which buttons to lock in the next release...
