GPS won't lock with 3.35.651.2 firmware - Mogul, XV6800 General

I just upgraded to the 3.35.651.2 firmware, and while my Internet speeds have increased, I seem to have lost GPS capabilities.
I used to be able to get a lock immediately in Google Maps. Since the upgrade, when I enable the GPS in G. Maps, it reads "Initializing GPS" and then "Seeking GPS Satellites (0)" but it never gets a lock.I've tried it outdoors in many locations that i've used it in before.
With the 3.16.651 rom it would lock on almost immediately.
Any recommendations/ideas?

I resolved the issue. Must have been something happening with Google Maps. I went to Menu | Options | Reset Google Maps and when it restarted, it zoomed in on my location right away.

GPS
I am using New updated HTC rom and Satellite wont lock while moving it will lock when you stop. using iGuidance v4.0 and Google maps. (my software works fine with external Holux Gps). any one having same problem or may be my GPS chip has a problem ? (tired hard reset, change locations)

I found this on the http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153883&page=19 website
HKLM/Software/HTC/SUPLAGPS/GPSMode
Change to 4 (orginal value 2)
seems to have worked for me.
with internet I am now getting satellites indoor!
Thanks to Lecithin who posted it.

i just updated this. still waiting to find some results. keeping my fingers crossed.
btw im using the alltel rom so we will see if there is a diff

GPS not working (0 satellites found) after Google Maps Upgrade

I recently upgraded my Google Mpas (I was prompted inside Google Maps) and now it doesn't seem to work as well as it used to.
I am using the DCD 2.2.0 ROM for my Titan.
What happens is now it will say "seeking satellites (0)" and "GPS Active (0)" and not find any satellites. Usually it shows me as in the middle of the ocean some where. Sometimes it will flash between "GPS Active (5)" and "GPS Active (0)", but still won't work. Like I said, it was fine before I upgraded Google Maps (about 2 weeks ago). Anyone have any ideas what's causing this?
Just did the google map update today and seems to work fine.. Took a long time to get a lock but once it did it was right on.
I am using verizon and DCD 3.04...
I just upgraded to that Rom my self on my Telus P4000 , did you remember to put the GPS Hardware on Com5? cus i know mine turned itself off once i just set it back to Com5 and it worked perfectly again, and that problem never happen again...
Hopfuly this helps, if not, im sorry, i tried lol ^_~.V cheers

mine did same thing - a soft-reset fixed all the issues, google now works great
I had issues with this as well. I went and set the location setting to off (911 only) then clicked ok. And then I went back in and turned location settings back on and it started working again.
make sure location settings are ON. also, try a few COM ports, 4 and 5 work for me, but 3 is by far the best port on my phone.
From what is posted on this site...Gps is supposed to be set at com 4 at 4800....Gps works will alot better if "primed" with other software before starting map applications...such software is gpsviewer , wififofum , visualgpsce (my recommedation)

Agreed, check location setting
Start->Settings->Phone->Services Tab->Location Settings. Turn to "on" That's what happened on my titan when I upgraded. Took me 2 hours to figure it out.

Verizon 6.1 MR1 Update with GPS fix - is it still working or has Verizon blocked it?

I'm running the stock Verizon 6.1 MR1 update with the GPS fix from here. The following GPS programs are loaded:
Fransons GPS Gate 2.6 - using the WM GPS setting to get Iguidance to work
IGuidance 4.0.2
Micosoft Live Search
Google Maps
Everything was working fine last night but this morning Live Search won't find any signals (even though I'm outside with a clear sky). Google Maps doesn't find any satellites. IGuidance satellite indicators aren't working and Franson shows a yellow icon saying "GPS data but no position" - Running OK!
Would someone please let me know if they have the MR1 update with the GPS fix from here and is getting Live Search information today. I'd like to see if Verizon has somehow "screwed" the data signal so this fix no longer works.
Thanks!
Did you try to do a soft reset on the phone? If they are blocking anything it would be the aGPS but not sure how they would single you out. Mine is still working and I am on DCD 3.2.6 with Radio ROM 3.42.50 and my GPS app is getting the aGPS info and then locking indoors.
i think that a soft reset is the GPS best friend
mine always works right off the soft reset
Yep - tried soft-resetting the phone about 7-8 times over various time of the day and still no dice.
I'm going to pair it up it back up with my I-Trek M5+ receiver when I get home and see if get locks on those programs.
Thanks!

just tried it here in NJ and it is working just fine
You might need to change the aGPS mode back to 2 in the registry. After upgrading to the latest PRI and all the GC aGPS stuff, I wasn't getting a fix in doors as I was. So some other post said that they changed that registry setting to 2 and that just worked for me.
GPS stopped working
Verizon must have figured out a way to block the aGPS. I have two XV6800's and both are out of commision. Worked last night, but not this "mourning". I even tried to install the "uninstall" cab by GC, but it would not install. Any ideas?
I have an xv6800 in NY and I just now got a GPS lock using Live Search inside my apartment. Seems to still be working here.
O.K. It's back up now. Verizon might have had an issue in certain areas today. I'm in Ohio and didn't have GPS all day. Now it is back up and running on both phones. Phew.
Sorry, didn't get a chance to post yesterday.
Mine came back up at about 2:15 pm yesterday in Northern Va and it's been fine since.
Probably some hiccup in the network or atmosphere conditions (sunspot activity etc).
Thanks for help everyone!
I had the same problem this weekend. My GPS (google maps) died on me. This was while travelling across Kentucky and Indiana. I tried a softreset a few times. Reinstalled Google Maps. Nothing. Monday, it started working again.
I'm beginning to think that Verizon has some issues with their aGPS servers. I'm constantly having issues here in central New York with not being able to get a gps lock.
Working great for me. I have yet to have a problem or not get connected within seconds.
how do you get the agps addresses and still have DCD roms? is there a seperate cap file for the Agps servers?

Tomtom dropping GPS

Using TomTom v7.450 (build 9028) the device can work fine for hours, but sometimes I start Tomtom and it will find a GPS signal and then immediately drop it again.
When I look at the satellite information, it will do this...
1. No GPS device!
2. Poor signal, are you indoors?
3. Built-in GPS receiver
4. No GPS device!
5. Poor signal, are you indoors?
6. Built-in GPS receiver
7. No GPS device!
and repeat..
You can view a video showing this effect

Hi, I've the same problem on my Blackstone, GPS works well for days bu from today the GPS signal result discontinuous with any navigation software like Tomtom(various versions), Trackypro and iGO8...any idea? Thanks
I had the similar problem when I first installed TomTom. Which settings are you using? Because I used "built-in GPS" for TomTom and had the above problem. When I changed it to "Other NMEA GPS" with baud rate at 11200 ()or whatever the max is + COM4 then gps started working like a charm. Since then no signal drops, no lag and very quick fix. Not sure if it is just by chance or is it a real fix for the above problem, but worth trying as its working for me. However, it has been 2 days only. Not sure if after a while I will have this problem or not. I am using Tom Tom 7.910 with maps 6.75.
Can You try to set the hardware port from <None> to COM9? Seems work better, the GPS signal still present...but for now I'm at home
I have more or less the same problem !
Using TomTom v7.450 (build 9028) the device works fine the 1st week, but now, I start Tomtom it xan't find GPS device !
I tried to reinstall all without success...
I also tried all the COM available !
using tomtom 7 with NMEA com 4 max baud rate. Works just fine. 8 or 9 sats locked on constantly in open areas
I'm having the same problem, although I don't have TomTom 7. But it doesn't seem to be just TomTom that's having trouble finding the GPS (and when it does, it'll never get a fix).
The Google Maps application also gives me the "No GPS found" attitude.
I've installed the HTC GPS Tool, which does seem to find a bunch of satellites, but they all stay no-fix-reddish.
Are there any guidelines on how to setup the GPS on this thing? I find it a bit strange that my settings menu only lists an option "External GPS", and no "Internal/Built-In GPS".
Can confirm that the dropping of GPS is in other applications.
I use zürich map from Lonely Planet (sure its form 2003) and it will drop the signal in the open.
Have a feeling its internal on our devices.
One possibility is A-GPS.
It is Disabled by default, but it is possible that with tools like HD Tweak or Advanced Config Tool, you, even by being unaware of it, you activated (or better : enabled) it.
To me, it was a winner : after re-disabling A-GPS, my GPS started to be stable again, no matter what port I choosed and how I configured the Navigator program.
Give it a try, could be the solution that works for you
Hi there,
I've just picked up my lovely HTC Touch HD - I'd like to buy the TomTom 7 and the correct maps to go with it to allow it to work.
Can someone please tell me where I can go to stick my Visa card details into and buy please! i'm pretty confused on the TT website and on here there's allsorts of version numbers etc mentioned!
I'd just like to have a stable running TT on my Touch!
Any chance of also having the US & Canada maps working as well as the UK maps ?
Thanks !
Dennis! West London UK!
This is not a TomTom issue. I have same problem with IGo and VisualGPSce.
I use to resolve this issue this way (in IGo or VisualGPS) : I change the baudrate in GPS configuration. Switching 19200 to 38400, or reverse, or whatever : the GPS locks and is stable after few baudrate switches.
Theres some reports that the default "sleep" timeout for GPS is 1 second. Apparently the Microsoft Intermediate Driver only updates every 1 second so it could just miss it and go to sleep!
Try changing registry entry to 2000 (milliseconds)...
HKLM->system->currentcontrolset->GPSIntermediate Driver->Drivers-> SleepOnNoData

Already did it (currently set to 2500). But changes nothing (even after soft reset) : GPS keeps deconnecting/reconnecting as described (not every time; one in a while..).
Thanks anyways !
Just out of interest, do you have MobileJustice installed by any chance?
Absolutly not. Nor any software of this type, nor any software who can possibly take GPS in background..
I had the problem of TomTom getting satelites and then dropping them and saying it couldn't find the gps.
Disabling agps (quick gps) via advance config seemed to sort out the problem
AGPS is *not* quickGPS in my understanding. But this is unclear. For a proof, AGPS comes disabled by default, but quickGPS works out of the box. Can someone who knows for sure, precisely state if AGS and quickGPS are the same thing or not ?
I have disabled AGPS also with HD tweak (but quickGPS stills work..), and I have regulary (2 out of 3 times) this problem.
I had the same problem. Disabling the AGPS seems to have worked but I will wait for the data to expire before confirming.
The problem seems to be when I have poor GPS reception AND poor GSM. They seem to be calling upon each other for corrections but never resolve.
If this is the solution I will just rely on QuickGPS alone which has worked fine for years with TTN6.
Edit: I can now confirm disabling AGPS solved my problem.
had TTN7 running for a few days now.
Can't find the built in GPS. Having to set it to other Bluetooth GPS Receiver.
A bit hit and miss with signal / getting a fix.
I have turned off AGPS as well. Going to try out some of the settings you all have put up tomorrow.

GPS not working on Xperia.

Hi Forum,
I desperately need your help on this. I had installed a software called mapmyindia. It ran fine for like 20 days. Now yesterday it seems that it failed to lock on GPS. I can see that it has about 6 satellites visible but used is 0.
Now I thought this could be an issue with the software, removed it. trying to use it on Google Maps. It continuously hovers on seeking satellites(0).
I did a hard reset of the phone, no go.
Any help or assistance or pointers would be really really appreciated.
To be honest, I am little worried now that my GPS could be fried on the phone and will never be able to use it again
hallo,
try with Google Maps GPS Settings "manual", and enter "ComPort 4" "Baudrate 4800"
use QuickGps prior to accelerate search
HI, i tried the same and its not working.
Setting the manual entry on COM 4 with 4800 baud no luck.
even tried downloadingthe latest version of quick gps no luck.
Any tests that i can try would be very helpful.
try enabling A-GPS. that might help you too. as a summary:
1. run quick gps to download the satellites position.
2. Open google maps/Live maps
3. get a position with good radio signal (recommended open sky for the first time).
4. enable "use gps" in google maps/live maps.
5. wait around 30-45 seconds.
6. good luck.
i think this sometimes happen to me too.
Im using Garmin XT and sometimes it takes AGES to lock into position. Google maps sometimes takes ages too.
Using quickgps might be helpfull, also try to get a perfect clear sky. I seems to have trouble finding one when the sky is cloudy and such
Also, just wondering, is that COM 4 and 4800 baud the default setting for X1?

GPS not working on Diamond2

Hi,
I have no GPS signal with my Touch Diamond 2. But I don't have TomTom, IGo or something else. I just want to get the GPS signal to use in QuickGPS. But there is no signal at all. Does anyone know why?
And where can I configure the internal GPS antenna? Is that possible?
For testing I downloaded and installed odgps (outdoor gps), but it get's also no signal. In odgps I have configured COM4 with Baudrate 4800. But no signal. Does anyone know how I have to configure GPS programs to get them work (as said, I cannot find a screen to get or set the configuration of the internal GPS antenna).
Could a hard reset help (as for the old Touch Diamond)? I would like to avoid that due to the destruction of the data...
I have also posted this in another Thread but I guess I was on a wrong one...
Thanks in advance for your help and best regards,
B.
Did you try Google Maps with "Use GPS" function... Default settings find satellites, even indoor areas..
Yes I did. It worked after switching it off an on again. Now I got GPS with google maps. First goal is achieved. Thanks for this tip.
But: Does anyone know how to retrieve the configuration of my internal GPS device. I have to configure it in another application (odgps), but I don't get it to work (com4/4800 or com4/9600 or com3/4800 and some other config data is all wrong): Odgps gets no signal.
Thanks for tips and hints.
hi,
Same problem as Brummerowski here.
my TD2 shows my location on google maps.
but when ever i try to seek a GPS Satellite on google maps or Garmin it keeps on searching without a result.
thanks for your assistance
This same problem keeps on cropping up with the TD2. Some users never seem to have problems, others do (I'm one of those) and there have been countless suggestions to (try to) sort it out.
On my TD2, Google Maps won't start the GPS module any more (it used to) and I use another very simple app http://freewareppc.com/travel/wmminigps.shtml to start it manually before using Google Maps. This seems reliable so far.
Gps setting for google maps with d2
I was able to use GPS with Google maps, by setting gps options by choosing COM4 and baud rate from 4800 to 57600.
I have never been able to fix on any satellites using google maps, and been waiting up to 10 minutes to just find two or three sats.
Solved by running third-party gps apps, like Beelinegps, or GPS Config. For some reason they are able to get a fix in under 30 seconds indoors. Then I just switch to google maps and it shows my position instantly.
