Sounds problems after WM6 upgrade - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

Hi
I am getting a choppy sound when video/music is played on my XDA IIs after upgrading from WM5 to WM6.
I still have the 'cabs2.rar' to update once I've downloaded it.
Any ideas ?
Apart from that I still have to test everything else like BT out, but first impression is that it is faster and more slick than WM5.
Dave

Probably you need to run SoundsFix.cab.

Advice needed: Moving from XDA II to JAM

As I'm giving up from getting my Xda II up to the task of BT Syncing AND BT handsfree, I ordered an i-mate Jam from Expansys.
As my order is on backlog due to lack of stock (more than 3 weeks now) I'm having time to wonder about my "incoming" new toy.
So I have a few questions for the more "JAM" experience users:
:?:
1.- Is BT operational with HandsFree devices? I mean carkits and the like.
2.- Is the BT stack having problems to ActiveSync with Win XP SP2?
3.- Any rumours about the new 2005 version? When will I-mate ship it?
4.- Are the most recent units coming with the flaws fixed? I read about bad sound, blurry pictures, a patched radio protocol, etc.
5.- Is any application known by not running on the JAM?
Thanks for commenting, I'll post my findings when my unit arrives.
BTW does anyone need a perfectly working XDAII?
No help?
Ok, Should I admit there are not any problems around? Is anyone out there moved from XDA-II willing to help?
Thanks.
 :?:
Great Move.
I changed my XDAII for a Jam and I'm extremely happy
No sound issues also bluetooth headset Motorola 810 connects fine. Camera is not too good but I guess thats the only flaw.

Hi zedeff! Thanks for info!
Just wondering: Is anyone using a BT carkit? Since this is a common problem with XDA II, I'm a bit worried about.
 :?:
considering a switch
i'm quite happy with my xdaII except that i find it bulky.. i'm seriously thinking of getting the xdaII mini (aka magician). any comments? bad reviews? suggestions?
btw, i'm looking for a fair market where i can sell my xdaII here in manila in case i do decide to buy the mini. any ideas?
Me too!
I'm also considering moving from the XDA2. My XDA2 has been great although not without one or two issues (getting BT working with a GPS receiver - not for the newbies!). I was considering the XDA2s and XDA2i but have read about issues with both. Now the XDA2 mini looks fantastic as I often wish I had a smaller phone without sacrificing the features. Has anyone else taken the plunge?

Is there any way to "downgrade" to WM2003se?

WM2005 is too slow and buggy for my liking, is there a way to get WM2003 on the MDA pro?
I can live with it if not, but WM2005 is horribly slow in comparison to 2003.
You read my mind
I was wondering the same thing just ealier today. I miss my Blue Angels performance. It never locked up and was plenty fast enough. It would be great to hae this performance and reliability on the Universal.
I have both the devices... BA with 1.42 ROM
BA feels faster only when there are very few apps running. However there are too many bugs and memory errors even when I am not running any app. Talk about closing WMP while it is playing and your loose the sound and have to reboot
WM5 is a bit slower but is much more usable IMO.
STILL... is there any chance of downgrading to 2003se??? no doubt its a universal truth that 2003se is much more stable and user-friendly than wm5, and is compatible with a lot more programs.
99.999999% sure there's no way you'll ever see WM2K3SE on a Universal.
Simply because there hasn't been any commercial need for it.
It was probably developed after MS had made WM5 betas for the Himalaya and Blue Angel.
And when they know that the Universal will be using WM5 in the end; why use resources on making a WM2K3SE ROM for it??
Sorry to dissapoint you..
aaah.. well that's ok, I just installed the latest o2 rom 1.30.107 wwe, and thats much much better than the previous one. I won't miss 2003se. 8)
Where can I get that O2 rom above and how would I install it? Thanks.

you can find it here,
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/
althought I downloaded 1.30.162, but after installation in device information it says 1.30.107..!!
YOU CANNOT DOWNGRADE Jasjar to 2003SE, because Jasjar and WM5 have totally new memory handling algorythms. This hardware incompatible with the previous operation system.

no no i totally disagree. WM5 is much more stable and user friendly than wm2003se. wm2003se would crash for no real obvious reason sometimes, WM5 never froze on me (except if a program was crazy, using iGO & minimizing it, that causes a freeze). you can run 5-10 apps on WM5 without ANY slowdown i'd notice. WM2003SE, not bad but you can notice the slow down. and the softkeys, well i hated them for the first time but then realized how useful they are when you don't want to use the stylus... absolutely cool. now regarding usability without stylus, we're finally getting closer to the ideal, the handheld pc. now why can't i have a ctrl key on the universal's keyboard??
In just 4 days, after installing the latest O2 rom I had to change my opinion, WM5 Proved itself to be the best mobile os yet, and its working too fine now , no hangs at all.. i wonder why:!: I'm kind of in love with the Jasjar, but I fear that the screen will get loose after sometime at the both pivoting points ,
you are right about the stylus-less use, not touching the screen too often does give you a satisfying feeling.
wm2003 on the Universal DOES exist

Actually If Im not mistaken the T-Mobile MDA IV shipped with wm2003se. I saw on ebay a few days ago an auction for a universal (I can't remember which it was, I feel like It was an imate jasjar) that was clearly running wm2003. There were pictures of the device and its screen with the new menu at the base. Its possible it could have been the new menu hack for wm2005, but there wasn't a second menu item on the right, and while it could also have been a hoax, it seems pretty unlikely. The point is Im sure that a rom for the universal with wm2003se DOES exist, the question is where to get it. I certainly would like to trade in this useless M$ BT stack for a more functional widcomm/broadcomm stack, or even bluesolei.

a2dp addon for Wizard

Just fyi, I am using the test rom on my Kjam for a2dp, but I just followed the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=48502 for my Jamin and it worked flawlessly. Others are reporting it works for the Wizard too!
thanks for the fyi, i may try this later on
Brilliant! Great sound quality! very easy install on Wizard

How is the sound quality as compared to the test rom version? The testrom a2dp wasn't very good at all. I am really hoping this fixes it!
Now I will buy the Bluetooth Stereo Headset.
Works for my xda mini s and will try to my xda exec
FANTASTIC, thanks for pointing this out.
I have installed thgis on my AKU2 K-JAM and all is working nicely.
I can now use my Bluetake BT450rx headphones that i bought myself for Christmas that have been gathering dust on a shelf
so does this mean i can use the latest rom update now and then install this ontop of it?
I have been using the test rom for a long time because fo the a2dp
Well....I did follow the steps...but I do not have an A2DP headset......and I want to be sure this software really works on my T-mobile MDA, before I but an A2DP headset, is anyway I can know this software works with out having an A2DP headset?
I just have the MOTO H700 and HS820....but, I guess it won't work as A2DP headset...
What you guys recommend for A2DP headset for listen to music?

I reckon its pretty good.
I am actually finding the A2DP Audio has better reception than the standard handsfree profile as with the new Wireless Audio option enabled with my Bluetake BT450rx headphones i can put the k-jam in any pocket or even walk over 5 metres away without it skipping a beat.
However the handsfree profile on the Bluetake headphones gets really crackly if put the k-jam my pocket and cannot walk more than 2 metres away.
Overall i'm really impressed although i have read that having push email and a2dp enabled at the same time can cause problems so im about to give that a go now
Cheers
is RUU_Prodigy_2170702_21707102_20710_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe the right rom for this addon?

This should work on any of the AKU2.0 ROMS with version 2.x so that should be fine.
is the version i just asked about the latest one?
I'm pretty sure that the newest qtek wwe (english) rom.
I have an i-mate and use the i-mate rom so not completely sure but from looking at the ftp site here it seems to be so.
This works with older roms too I am using the older Tmobile UK rom that works with blackberry connect software and it works perfectly
A2DP w/2.17 ROM from Summiter.
Went to Tornado Group downloaded Bluetooth files files installed them, tweaked the registry and I am running the newest ROM with A2DP. Thanks summiter for the ROM and the Tornado folks for the files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=48491
Eureka.
PS Not the 2.8 but 2.17.
All I can say is...WAHOO!
I've been searching every forum I could find looking for A2DP for my MDA. Followed the instructions and it works great with my Plantronics 590A.
I'm using the latest T-Mobile US release ROM from the FTP site (with the goodies rolled in).
Tip:
If you lose the Bluetooth stereo output (like if you turn off the headset and then back on), go to the Bluetooth device section, hold click on the headset, and finally choose "Set as Wireless Stereo".
THANK YOU!
Now...if I could only get the headset controls to next/prev track and pause / play...

Are you sure? Can anybody else confirm this?
If you are a Cingular user, I just uploaded a 2.17 ROM that has A2DP added. Link is posted in the Wizard upgrading forum.
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!
I try to make single-file cab installation, can somebody of the pros please take a look at it? I also don't know how to insert soft reset feature

Support for BH800

Anyone know why the Cingular 8525 doesn't currently support the Nokia BH800 bluetooth headset, and when there may be a software update that will fix this?
Is this a problem with all versions of this phone, or just the Cingular one?
i also have the Nokia BH800 (cute headset) and it doesnt wrk properly with my jasjam. The mic is really low, sound is really low, doesnt support handsfree profile (only headset). It is quite strange because on my wife's nokia n73 it works like a charm with all the profiles and redirects all sound to it, even with tomtom nav 6 on her mobile.
Dont know how to help you as I am in the same boat. anyone else have the BH800?
I have the BH800- works absolutely fine with my TyTn using the latest firmware (on the Tytn, not the headset!).
Do we know that the Cingular 8525 will not work with the BH-800 by experience or by heresay??
I had the TyTn for a brief period of time, trialed the JasJam, and now have the 8525 -- thus far the 8525 has proved to have the most stable firmware, better radio, etc. so I can't imagine the Bluetooth being behind.
I just received my 8525 from premiere and it came with a small flyer that reads
The Nokia BH800 and Motorola H670 bluetooth headsets are not compatible with the Cingular 8525 and Cingular 8500 at this time. Compatibility with these headsets will be available via software download in the near future.
help!!
I see that im not the only one having problem with the Nokia BH800, im happly using the Black v3.0.1 rom on my hermes (softbank) but i cant seems to make the BH800 to work handsfree, did any one have a solution for that??
thanks

Hermes - Which Version is Best?

I think I'm ready to buy a Hermes. I live in a city where Cingular has UMTS up and running. I'm trying to decided if I should buy the 8525 or get one of the other versions of the Hermes.
Are there any benefits from buying a TyTn, Trion, or one of the other Hermes versions other than the forward facing video camera?
I know that some early TyTn's had screen alignment problems and there still exists some bluetooth A2DP, activation by MS VC, and other problems.
I currently own a Wizard and am running Farias AKU 3.3 on it. Everything works splendidly except that Edge internet speeds are driving me crazy.
I'm half wanting to wait until the issues are more fixed or until the Kaiser (xv6800) comes out.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciate.
