Hi there,
I have just bought an unlocked MDA compact but can't get it to work on O2!
The MDA that I have seems to be unlocked as I have it on Orange at the moment, but, when I put my O2 SIM card in it just says that there is no service!
I have Network selection set to automatic, but when I select "Set Networks" it says that its unable to read settings from the network.
I have searched for networks with the Orange SIM and it finds O2 and Vodafone, but wont let me connect. I guess thats an Orange thing, but it does tell me that the phone can recieve on the other frequency
Can anyone help me?
Cheers,
Evan
Hi I have a i-mate pda2k evdo, it doesn't seem to have a sim slot at the back, because the carrier has built it in, how do I reset this? or get rid of the sim information, so I can put in my own at choice?
Hi
I bought the first imate jasjam I put my hands on last week; I had read all the reviews I could find and I "thought I did all the research before paying $1100". Well I guess I missed one thing: mtctouch (Lebanon Operator) declared the device "incompatible with their GPRS server" and they are not planning any upgrade for the moment; still no reply from i-mate on the matter.
Am I the only one with a device too advance for the telcom op.?
Can I upgrade or patch the radio stack to become "backward compatible"?
I am running" JASJAM_Arabic_1.20.305.3_1.20.304.104_1.07.03.10
Cheers
for time being use setting phone and under band insted of auto for network select GSM and for GSM/UMTS select GSM 900+1800+UTMS 2100 (first select) or other for your country.
Hi Ridaz,
There should be no reason why this device doesn't work on their GPRS netowkr unless they use a portal system which checks the model of the device connecting to 'taylor' the content to the device.
Tell me do mtctouch offer a internet only GPRS APN or only a GPRS WAP one? Hope you know what I mean bu the term APN. The TyTn in effect should be setup to use the internet one and the mtctouch GPRS network would just see it as a laptop PC.
Gav.
Hi
All 3G phones owners will have to wait until MTC finish upgrading their "equipment", hopefully mid December
Cheers
I purchased a 2nd hand o2 xda exec on ebay, and put my old o2 SIM in it but it constantly says searching. At first I thought this may be because the SIM was an old 2G not 3G sim, so I purchased an o2 3G PAYGO sim and tried again.
CE 1.30.107, Extended 1.30.162, Radio 1.0.9
Still no luck....
I've tried Buzz's Unlocking utility just in case it was locked to a different network, but this being an o2 device I would expect it to be locked to o2 if anything. The unlock utility said it succeeded in unlocking. But still no service.
After a while I get a box appearing with:
Select a network:
O2-UK
@ VF-UK
@ Orange
@ 23420
T-Mobile UK
I've even seen a 'G' icon & and while at work a 'U' icon, so I would guess the radio does work.
I've even checked out the imei to make sure it wasn't blocked on the network (lost/stolen).
I'm a little stuck now what to do, other to use it as a PDA without phone functionality. I might see if i can borrow a Vodafone or Orange SIM to try out.
Anyone seen anything similar, or have any ideas?
Vodafone works
I just tried a vodafone SIM, it worked fine.
I'm having the same problem with an old O2 genie sim it cant find the network any ideas as to why?
If you have seen a G and a U symbol then it HAS actually registered on the network, else you'd have seen an X there. so that rules it out as an IMEI lock out.
Ok as a long shot upgrade your radio to 1.15 and give that a whirl.

Hey,
I unlocked my UK ORANGE HTC with the info I found from this forum. The first time it worked like a charm... Put my Finnish simcard inside and it worked. Both in the UK and abroad.
But I tried to put my Finnish simcard into the phone few days ago and now it cant seem to find network for some reason. The simcard works in other phones and finds network.
When I go to the network settings. The network selection is on automatic. I tried to change it to manual put it says:
"network error. cannot read settings from the network. try viewing settings later, or disconnect dataconnection and try again"
I dont have any dataconnections or anything on. It just keeps searching the network and doesnt find any.
The phone does find network when I put my orange simcard into it.
Any ideas what could be wrong ?
Thanks a million!
anyone have any idea ?
Even I am facing similar problem.
In mine case whenever I move to a roaming network or I try to use a local sim while I am in roaming; I am facing the same problem.
Any solution is highly appreciated.
Thanks
