At first, great forum, found a lot of hints and tips.
And now my (stupid) question.
I own the VPA Compact GPS. My wish is to stop that annoying notification when i sent a SMS. I already searched the XDA-Wiki and found this entry...

...but i can't locate it in my registry. Are they hidden? Also used the forum search but didn't found anything.
If you need any details (ROM-Version etc.), ask. If i overlooked smth, punish me. Sorry in advance for my bad english.

This is well documented in the tweaks section of the Hermes wiki:

Unfortunately, there is no such a tweak.
OH! I thought he was talking about the "Message Sent" notification. MY FAULT! Sorry guys! I should read these things more carefully.

Try this.
Start>Settings>Personal>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications
Select "Messaging: New Text Message" from the Event List
Make sure the "Display message on screen" tick box is unticked
Press OK to save settings.

Probably enough for mdavenport, but not for me because it still changes a softkey to Notification and popups that window once I press it. For me an icon in the titlebar would be just enough. Do you know how to fully disable the notification?

I have a hermes and wasnt to use PhoneAlarm to switch profiles depending on the cell that I am in.
I have got the app working but no cell information is coming up.
I did read somewhere that you have to change a couple of registry values to "de-restrict" the phone to allow this information to work.
Any ideas anyone?
Please let me know of anything else I can try to get this working....

Just to carry on this thread, I have a O2 P.A.Y.G sim in my Vario II
When I send a text I get a notification of how much left (I can live with this and in fact like it) but I also get a notification tone/jingle a default Tmobile one, I have gone to the extent of muting the handset and disableing all notifications in the settings menu, but still I get a tone/jingle.
Is there anyway of turning this sound off

OK I added Settings to the inbox etc.. and yes I have lost the message sent....
BUT! I still get a sound notification (notify) with my remaining balance .. Is this an O2 thing in a kinda speech bubble.

You must create them
Nope entered both settings but still the same thing, also I'm wasteing my money trying to fix it.
Even if there was a setting to just get rid of the noise that would be fine, but no matter what volume you have set it's the same annoying thing

Folks found the answer, probably not the right one but it worked for me.
I emailed O2 and they turned off the notification for me, now I have silent text sending

I used HTweakC to accomplish this.
This is such a dumb "feature" it should only give you a message if the text fails to send after a certain time, just like every other phone.
Strange about the reg settings though. Just checked mine and the settings are there as specified in the registry.

First what registry editor are you using. Resco or PHM (freeware) should work fine.
Second, regarding the above keys - I checked mine and it's there. How far down the "tree" can you get?
If it's not there perhaps it's the ROM you're using?

I can only think it's your ROM version. You may be able to add keys - but I'm not the person to help with adding keys.

I agree that it is most likely your ROM version. I see exactly what you do with Resco Reg Editor and I am using the as delivered WM5 ROM version 1.34, Radio 1.16 on a Cingular 8525.
I believe I've read some where on here that you can disable the notification that is produced after you send a text message, stating "message sent" I have searched and searched to no avail. Does anyone know how you can disable this on a Cingular 8525. Thanks in advance. Lee

Just upgraded to Cingular's WM6 release. I went to the registry to change the following:
Disable SMS Sent Notification
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSNoSentMsg"=dword:00000001 ->0 to enable, 1 to disable.
There was no entry for SMSNoSentMsg. I created it, but I'm still getting SMS Sent Notification.
Is this the correct thing to do for WM6? Or is there some place else? Appreciate the help, I'm a heavy texter and this is very annoying!

search the forums for "kaiser tweak" software. it was developed, obviously, for the kaiser, but will work and easily disable this on the hermes
There are a couple of cabs that can help you. Schaps advance config and HT Custom..both have various tweaks, including no sms sent notification. Go to the hermes mobile 6 forum and search for HTCustom and I have Schaps' Advance Config here. Personally I like Schaps.
I installed the cab you suggested, but I'm still getting the sent notification. did i miss something?? thanks for the help!!
Go to phone tab (at bottom) and check box marked disable SMS sent notification. That should do the trick.

Just a thought, if anyone knows... if you disable the SMS sent notification do you still get any notification if the SMS is NOT able to be sent?
