Hi,
I'm facing a problem in applying theme even with Windows Mobile 6.1 which is the default theme in my phone.
I'll tried lots of method, put themes (.tsk) in \My Device\My Documents, \Windows folder and even the root directory of Storage Card.
But it does not solve my problem.
Is there any solutions/tweaks/3rd party apps can solve this?
Thanks
Anyone?
Please tell me.
can u see them in the settings->today page? i just leave them in root directory of sd card.
btw... u only have 1 post when u started this thread & 2 hours later u ask again? please man, just wait. all the threads not normally answered on the same day, just wait patiently & include all relevant info to help ppl answer your questions.
Sorry about that, I know I'm impatient as I've tired various methods but still cannot.
I saw the themes in Today settings, so highlight them and tap the OK button, but the theme doesn't load.
place in folder my documents on your device (not storage card). then go today, choose your themes, and apply the themes what do u want....
thanks...

I added a font to my windows/fonts/ folder but now unable to remove it due to a share problem its says.
Anyone know how to remove this font as its taken up 2 meg of space.
I tried quiting all applications but no luck there either.
How about a safe boot ?, how would i do that ?
Sorry for delay - meant to post yesterday. Using gsfinder or total commander, rename the file to say font.tt instead of font.ttf - soft reset and then you should be able to delete font.tt.
Many thanks will try now.
Yep worked great, many thanks for your help.
Thanks a lot man.. you rock.. I had tried to delete / move the file with no success... You saved me a Hard Reset .. I dont understand how a file said to be in use can be renamed but not deleted/moved . It certainly was in use !(screwing up all my touch flo screens)
Hi.
Does anyone know how to access them so you're not having to create new folders on the SD?
Could you be any more clear?

Don't really understand your question but if you are after the locations of the default wallpapers and ringtones then you can find them here:
ringtones: /system/media
wallpapers: you will have to unpack the /system/app/Launcher.apk, wallpapers are inside the res/drawable-240dpi

Hi.
There are default wallpapers on the phone, so I would like to put any new ones in the same folder which isn't on the sd card, and I've found the "notification" folder on the sd card but the default tones aren't in there, so I'm guessing I need to access the phone memory to make any changes.
This is my first Android phone so I'm finding my way around just now.

Ok, I think I understand you better now. So, like I said, the location for the ringtones is what I already mentioned. Since this is the system partition, you will need root access and remount the /system partition into read/write mode in order to be able to add files to the directory.
For the wallpapers, this was just a quick check, but like I said, the Launcher.apk has the wallpapers bundled within it. You can easily rip it, take it apart using apktool and add or replace the default wallpapers.
IMHO though, it is lot simpler to add a new folder on the SD card and use applications like ASTRO or handcent sms to set ringtones/wallpapers for you.

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing as the ringtones in my notification folder couldn't be selected as ringtones i.e they didn't even show up, but did show up for messaging, so I created a new folder "Ringtones" on the SD, bobbed a few files in there and now they show up as selectable tones.
Thanks for the advice though.
Why I am going to lose guarantee when i root phone ?

Because you're changing the software on the phone, so if you have any problems it will be your fault in the eyes of the Operator/SE.
But how do they know that I have rooted phone ?

lol they wont know a thing until you take your rooted phone to the service centre for repair but before you do so you can roll back to original firmware and they wont notice a thing..

I would assume it's from whatever diagnostics they would run to diagnose any issues you claim to be having.
Maybe, but i won't risk and root it, maybe will something go wrong and then....
I am currently using the super fast and reliable desire_hd2 build on my HD2. I have changed the icons (framework-res.apk) on the build with no trouble but I have come across this thread. Here are some cool looking skins which I would love to apply to my device but having trouble doing so.
I am asking for help on how to get these skins onto my phone as I think it would be awesome to swap and change these skins at will without changing the build.
Thanks in advanced.

The skins that come as a .apk file are easy to install. What if they come in a zip or rar file like this one. Now once this zip is extracted it has system/app folders with a load of .apk files for browser. calendar, friendstream etc and a META-INF folder. I have tried placing these folders into the root folder of the Android folder (desire_hd2 or simular, depending on which build you are using) and restarting. The first two times I tried, with different themes my phone would not boot past the htc splash screen and melody. I thought it might be because I were putting the META-INF folder in there as well. I have just tried to leave out the META-INF and my phone booted up fine. Then came the problems. Everytime I tried to start an application like browser, camera, mail etc, then a force close would come up and the application would refuse to start. I am currently reinstalling the desire_hd2 build for the third time today and still wondering what I am doing wrong.
Any help please

hi,
as far as I know, we can't use those native android files on android ports as they often require recovery mode to install (hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong).
sorry ur stuck with the apk's for now.
I do know you can put the framework-res.apk in root-system-framework in the android folder on your sd card, reboot to alter the wifi, battery and other icons at the top of the screen, just experimenting now to see if you can import the the icons for calendar, mail, message, internet friendscreen etc. Seems there might be a problem moving the com.htc.resources.apk to framework folder as you would framework-res.apk. Will try and report my findings on here.
good luck.
would be interested to see if you get it sorted

As for resigning a zip: The way I do it is download the rom to my desktop, Right click on it and open with: select winRAR archiver delete out of system/apps everything I don't want ie facebook/stocks etc. While I'm in the drop in the apk's of the things I want and voila!. Click the 'X' at the top right and then drag that onto my memory card. Install as you do etc etc. No need to unzip or zip a file!.
Hope this helps!

Apparently I can't figure out how to use the search feature. I click on search enter "ringtiones" and nothing happens. I click search and again nothing happens...what's the secret? I've added a folder on the SD card named "rigtones", have dropped several tones into it and they do not appear on my phone ringtone list. What's the deal? I've also tried placing this folder on the internal storage and nothing there either. Obviously I'm doing something wrong here too. I'm not able to find a folder for the existing ringtones anywhere.
So I won't have to add another thread can anyone advise if there are folders for text messages? (sent, inbox, deleted, etc) When a text is deleted is it in fact deleted or does it go into a trash folder that I cannot find?
Thank you,
HT

The ringtones are actually located here:
\system\media\audio\ringtones
You will need root explorer with write access to copy stuff to this folder.
After making my post I disconnected the Atrix from the computer and upon checking the ringtone list all the tones I had dropped into the previously mentioned folder were available for use. I don't know anything about a root explorer, I just created a new folder and dropped in onto the SD card. For some reasson the option to use them when the phone is connected to the PC is not available.

The reason is that your SD cards are unmounted from the phone so your PC can access them. Since SD cards aren't available, ringtones aren't available either.
Good explanation, thank you.
