How to backup rom? - Touch Cruise ROM Development

I have downloaded bepe's latest ROM, but I havent yet tried it. I suppose I need to run "ROM.exe".
But before I try to upgrade my ROM, I would like to backup my excisting ROM, such that I can restore my device to factory settings.
Is it possible to backup my ROM and which tool do I need?
Thanks /Jesper

How to backup my existing ROM?

ROM backup
U cant backup a ROM. It is build in deep in the system.
But u can backup your contacts, calender and so on using pim backup.
If you dont like you new rom and want to go back to your original ROM u need to download and install the original ROM from HTC website.
I hope I answered your question.

Updated to new ROM, now what?

I did a Sprite backup prior to upgrading. Now that I have upgraded to the new ROM from the HTC site, can I restore the Sprite backup to get my contacts and applications back? Will it screw up anything since it is a new ROM? Thanks in advance.
I did it with Spb Backup in the Rom Upgrade Mode, but without overwrite system files, it worked very good, except 2 little problems i could solve easy.
As a general rule, you shouldnt restore a backup when you have flashed to a new rom. PIM backups are different and safe.

questions about Nandroid Backup ? What's in the Backup

Hi, As a noob in that matter - I have succesfully backed-up my Magic, and subsequently upgraded to the HERO rom. My question is simple : what's on the backup of the ROM data ? is it the plain rom back-up without privacy details ? (google account, history ..etc ..) or does it contain personal data.
(sub question: how to remove the personal data if they are in the backup ?)
thanks
am impressed

It is a complete backup of the phone without recovery and SPL.
So if you have backed up your phone after you have installed applications, made calls recieved SMS and so on, they will still be in the rom.
These things can be extracted from data.img
thanks for the answer..

can nandroid backup be used to restore all of your installed apps and settings after you update to a newer or different ROM?
such as updating from Cyanogen 3.9.10 to 4.0.1 and if i perform a nandroid backup before applying the update.zip and then update would choosing the restore function restore all of my installed apps or settings? or would it simply revert me back to 3.9.10?

ROM Data Transfer?

Is there a way to transfer all my settings/apps/data from one ROM to a new one? Because every time I flash, it's a blank slate. I'd like to keep all my apps and stuff that I have installed on my current ROM but put it onto a newer ROM. Is it possible?
make a nandroid backup taht way when you flash if you dont like it you can restore your last image, or if you want to transfer your contacts go to People>hit menu>import/export to SD
Titanium backup.
well nandroid doesn't back up my apps and wallpapers and stuff... oh well
Nandroid does backup your apps and data. It backs up an exact image of your phone the way it is when you back up

No, its for every ROM... Thats why its called NANDroid. It backs up the entire NAND for later use.

It backs up whatever info I have to lets say attn1's Liberated Aria ROM. Ok, I back that up in nandroid, then I go to flash the clean eclair beta v2 one. It says to wipe and then flash. Ok, then when the flashing is done, its clean and none of my apps are there. I want something to back my info up from one ROM to another.
well with some roms, (this is experimental and doesnt work with every combination of roms) you can use nandroid for an advanced backup, and restore only the data partition(which is your apps, settings etc.). but it doesnt work with every combination of roms. but you can also use titanium backup to just backup apps, and settings etc.
Alright, that's what I needed to hear. Thanks

Just do a full backup in CWM. To be safe, use Titanium Backup as well, and maybe even super backup for contacts and SMS. However, unless the CWM backup is somehow corrupted which is rather unlikely, then you shouldn't need to worry about this.

restore backup

I made a backup of oxygen with .32 kernel. Now I am on ICS aurora 4.1 and I want to restore my backup of oxygen. can I restore without problems?
my CWM is 5.5.0.4 version
EDIT: it is the wrong place, please some moderator move to the right place
yeap wrong place, but answer is you will probably not see your backed-up apps even if you restore them.
Install apps from play store again.

Do you want to restore the entire rom? If so, I think you need to go back to official 2.2 from huawei, and then restore the oxygen backup.

You must install official 2.2 first, if not, you won't have network when you restore oxygen.
