I find that although I like the WMP when I reopen the program it has often forgotten what song was being played. This means I have to go back into the library to get it playing again.
Is this a problem with my os?
Is there a fix to this?
Other programs like Pocket Music don't seem to trip up in this way (although it does in other ways... don't get me started!).
running OS- O2 mini s- 1.5.4.102
Nevermind!
I just found TCPMP!
Works great! No errors yet.
I was hoping to get WMP up to scratch, but it always seems to fail somehow.
TCPMP (The Core Pocket Media Player) has been flawless so far. Hate to use more space but it's worth it for something that works that well and is free (opensource).
I'm prepping my phone for a nice long day at jury duty and I'm looking for an MP3 player prog complete with a today plugin so it's easy to control from the today screen. I tried searching but there's so many out there, I wanna know what you guys use. Thanks
I use MortPayer
Conduits Pocket Player is the best IMO, but it's not free.
I use PocketMusic, the basic version of which is free. Very nice player.
However when I was on Jury duty a few years ago, they made me leave my phone at their desk (certainly while I was in the courtroom, can't remember whether in the waiting room too).
Andre
You won't be allowed a phone in court and if you are seen with it you could be in serious trouble.
Oh they let us keep our phones. I guess they feel sorry that they leave us in the waiting room for 5 hours before taking us into the courtroom for another 3 hours. What a waste of a day, and they couldn't get a full jury so I have to go back again tomorrow
I'm surprised I was able to use it almost all day and it only got to 40% with Internet, video, and music. Definitely getting my money's worth with the phone right now.
Thanks guys, i'm trying out mortplayer right now
MortPayer does not support wma?

On my wizard, spb to play doesn't control the media player, but it acts as if it is a standalone player. If I start playing something in WMP, then go to the today screen and press play on the plugin, it starts playing a different song. I can play 2 songs at once, and the plugin just scrolls through all my music, insted of my current now playing, which is annoying, cos I have lots of music on my memory card... :?
just press play from the today screen...dont open windows media player...
thats what i do...
Hi All,
I have recently been getting an error message in Windows Mobile Media Player (Windows Media Player) on my XDA Mini S saying;
"No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection"
And i cant seem to figure out why. I cannot play any videos or sound clips on my mobile, and i cannot find an alternative way to view video or sound files on my XDA.
Is there any chance anyone knows where i can download a new versionof Windows media player for my Windows mobile 5 device? or does anybody have any resolution for this?
Thanks for your time
I do not think there is a newer version to this problem but I was recently having trouble with WMP and I downloaded Pocket Player and have really liked it.
Doesn't seem to have that many bugs, has a today plugin (if wanted), is quite easy to use - maybe give it a try!
Where did you download Pocket Player from? and was it free etc... because i have searched on www.pocketgear.com and it is $19.99
To be honest, i really wasnt planning on paying for a Media player, however, if i cannot get the media player on my phone fixed, i will have no choice!
Thanks
Have you tried cold booting? Or TCPMP?
Yes PocketPlayer does cost you; I understand not wanting to pay for a media player especially since one that is supposed to work comes with the phone - i just couldn't deal with WMP.
Try TCPMC - its free and it may not have all the organizational features of WMP, but does play DivX files

you'd better try another media player such as RealOnePlayer (supports video and music) if you are interested you can try this...
right when I try to watch streaming video it opens realplayer, which won't play it? I want window streming media play back!
how do I make that the defult? or remove realplayer?
it doesn't show in the add/remove programes and if I serach file exp for real or realplayer it finds nothing!
messed about last night for a few hours still can get rid off it?
i second this does anyone know how to get 3gp streaming(rtsp) to work. I always get an error. i have taken off both proxys (hardcoded) and still get nothing. im still using the att rom
u need a rom that has streaming media.. most of the WM6 roms have streaming media.. I had that problem until I upgraded again to WM6.. now it works fine..
I also found that streaming media doesn't work for me straight off - I have to tell it which connection to use by going into it and then into options. Once I did this, it worked OK
Smiffy.

i have a rom that has streaming media, its still on my phone, but when opening links it defults to realplayer, which wont play it, hence i want realplayer gone, or streaming media player the defult
help me, i face the same issue!
.mp3's will not play. .avi's will not play (through TCPMP). .mp4's will not play.
SURELY I don't need to convert songs before I transfer them to my device? But either way, they will not play. Video's have never played.
Currently using HSPL with Artemis v13. I bought the HD2 because of the amazing screen, but seeing as I can't watch films on it, it's not much good to me, just a phone, which I could trade in for a cheaper one and earn some money! ANY ideas at ALL what I can do with this guys? I seem to have tried everything.
You must have installed something that has caused this problem, because it's out-of-the-box functionality to play mp3 & mp4 files (for AVI you would need tcpmp/coreplayer).
Did it work before you flashed the Artemis ROM? I seriously doubt that the ROM is the cause here though, as you'd most likely not be the first person to notice
When you say "they don't play", what actually happens? If you open file explorer and find an mp3 or mp4 file and click it, what happens?
On stock rom, .mp4's stay stuck on 'Loading...' but never move, on Artemis 'Loading...' pops up briefly, then disappears. With .mp3's the music player just skips through the songs until it reaches the end. TCPMP and Coreplayer say 'unknown file format' on .avi files. I have tried all manner of conversion software, but nothing ever seems to work. I remember when I first got the phone, out the box, it played mp4's quite merrily, but issues began after I had to hard-reset it. I'm not sure if that's just coincidence. It's bloody annoying though!
I wish there was a phone media player out there that did the same job as VLC on desktops, i.e. it will play a used a toilet roll if you want it to!
John, Could you perhaps link me the .cab you use for TCPMP? I have used 3 or 4 different .cabs I've seen lying around, but none of them do the job.
There's something wrong with your phone mate. If it didn't play mp3s out of the box then it won't play them - sorry but it's that simple.
I'd recommend sending it back to your supplier as faulty.
Edit:
I can't link you to a tcpmp cab that I use because I bought Coreplayer, but in fairness, if you've tried 3 or 4 different ones and it doesn't work then there's definitely something wrong with the phone. Maybe the device memory is corrupted (physically) - who knows. But it really does just sound knackered I'm afraid.
i would flash stock rom (and overwrite hspl) and then check, if it can play media files again.
if so, it was your rom. if not, somethings wrong with your phone.
grace to ospl and stock rom, you could return it now and get a new one
but i'm nearly 100% sure, that its your rom.

OK lads, cheers.
Better swap the SPL back and flash stock rom before I send it to O2 I guess .
One other question - for the device to play video (either .mp4 or .avi) does the file need to be a certain frame width / height and frame rate, bitrate etc, or will it play any .mp4 extension (or .avi extension, with TCPMP)?
can play every mp4 file...
sometimes with lags or something, but its still playable.
