I'm using a linksys WRT54GL router and running WM6.1 professional (build 19199.1.0.0 PV/DVH) radio 1.13.00
Using WPA2 personal with TKIP+AES
Installed HTC commanager on my BA
the trick:
go to settings, connections, wireless lan.
enable wifi
go to HTC commanager
turn on WIFI
go to settings, connections networkcard
select your network
select wpa-psk and tkip
type your network key
connect.
wait a few seconds, the system will not connect.
go to HTC commanager
turn off the WIFI
wait a few seconds
turn on WIFI
and voila you have connection and WPA2 works fine!!!!
I'm using 6.1 Build 19716 with the Wifi_v2 driver and it's suberb!! BT, GPRS, WEP, WPA and WPA2... ALL OK fast and works all in first time.
No wakeups in BT untill now.
I LOVE MY BA!!! and thanks to all you guys that release this roms and previous ones as all the help from the forum!

I am able to get it to connect in this way but not reliably. The on/off/on/off tends to work once in a while. Please post back and let us know how reliable you find yours connecting.

Thanks for that flyboy_____ I currently have one of the 19199 builds on the device but i'll drop back to 19716 tonight and test.

Sometimes I,ve to repeat on/off/on with HTCcomm, but after connection it's stable
I flashed the ROM with 19716 and installed the WiFi V2 driver but unfortunately had the same issues as I do with 19199; when I install the new driver WiFi won't connect at all, the GPRS icon never even attempts to turn into the WiFi icon. I uninstall the driver and i'm back to square one with unreliable attempts at connecting.
I tried installing the new driver immediately after flashing with 19716 ROM (just after No/Yes/Yes) and then again after another No/Yes/Yes but loading the WiFi driver through the 'Wireless LAN' utility first.
If anyone has other suggestions, i'm all ears!
hi cr_972003
I had those issues...
Pay attention that only one rom 19716 works with Wifi v2!!! (its posted on the thread I mentioned)
When installing Wifi v2 you must be in FLIGHTMODE (NO RADIO ON.. ALL OFF)
Give it a Try... In my all is working 100%!!
If any of the Rom builders could try this driver...
I thought my procedure of instaling was OK...
Any one more can try this driver and post the results??

Dang, my bad. I didn't have it in flightmode whilst I installed the driver. I'll test again tonight. Thanks again.
not correct
driver x ba are only for wpa tkip and not for wpa2 aes
if router is setting for wpa+wp2 it works because ba use wpa
An update on my findings;
19716 from hoangdat works perfectly as described by flyboy____. 19716 from DVH behaves like the 19199 ROMs in that the WiFi v2 driver kills WiFi entirely.
Thanks to flyboy___ my WiFi connects ever time
all credits to the guys in the original Wifi driver were are here to test and give feedback.
lucasan is right... my routers ar all WPA+WPA2... can anyone else confirm if you can connect to WPA2?
i have xv6700
i have a xv6700 and wpa2 data encryption doesn't work for me
one of my friends sugested loading the wm6.1 rom but i think it might destroy my phone

I'm wondering if there's help beyond those who travel down into the wizard forums about wifi on my device.
I have a Cingular 8125 flashed with Summiter's AKU2.3 Test2 rom. This has the 2.25.11 Cingular radio version installed, and I'm having wifi issues. My questions are as follows:
Does the radio version have anything/everything to do with the performance of wifi in the Cingular 8125?
Are there additional tests that I can see where the hangup is getting my device to work with a belkin pre-n router model F5D8230-4; Firmware Version 1.01.03.
Problem: My 8125 will not connect to a belkin pre-n router. It shows the network is available, it attempts to cnnect, then after about 5-7 seconds, it either says its unavailable for a few seconds, or it says the network is available but doesn't complete its connection. I've tried connecting to the router on all performance settings for wifi on my device, same behavior continues.
It WILL connect to a Linksys SRX 100 router, but performance is erratic. If I let it sit too long, it will timeout, and never get new data from websurfing... instead I have to disable the wifi, re-enable it, and get it to reconnect to the router, then wifi works again. It works for varing lengths of time, typically when I don't let it idle, it keeps the connection.
I'm unsure what will fix this problem. The radio in the original test AKU2.3 by summiter did the same thing as the newer radio packed in test2 - which is the radio version called 2.25.11 i believe.
Best hopes to a few chaps who can help me out here.
I did have Sum Sum installed, which related to the 802.11g registry mod, I've also tried removing that and still same performance. Any help?
WiFi issues after AKU2.3 upgrade
Hey mengesb,
I was just wondering... is your router a 802.11b or 802.11g?
I managed to connect to a computer using Internet Connection Sharing(ICF) on a g-wireless card, but I can not connect to a b-router. The logs on my router say the phone repeatedly managed to connect.
I had been connecting to both these setups everyday before I did the upgrade.
Hopefully this may help break down the problem.
The wireless router that I have the biggest issue with is a Belkin Pre-N router, so technically its 802.11g
Hey Mengesb,
I found an article on 4winmobile.com that might help solve your problem.
Here is what they say about pre-N routers:
One caveat for those using their HTC Prodigy with Belkin Pre-N Routers: You must update the Router firmware to V1.01.03 (available from the Belkin Download Page ). This is not necessary for the HTC Universal (O2 Exec, iMate Jasjar etc) which uses a different hardware WiFi system.
Unfortunately the updated Belkin firmware will not connect to the XDA IIi or XDA IIs, so if you own one of these and a MiniS, you will need to choose which one will be able to connect.

I also found out that that I had to reboot my router (Dlink DI614+ 802.11b) everytime I try to connect with my Wizard because even after disconnecting, the router still has the wizard registered as connected.
Hope that helps.

I'll check this out at my earliest convience but we'll see what happens. From what the router says - there's no newer firmware that is needed for the router. I'll see if this one is compatible, but the lat time I firmwared their router, heh, i nuked it - wrong firmware (pictures were SO the same!) anyway... they got this as a replacement.
Wifi disconnect
Having exact same issue as mengesb with WiFi disconnecting after 5-15 seconds (seems to hang on longer while I'm actively using WiFI, but disconnects nevertheless). I'm using the official download from HTC website
ROM 2.25.11.1 WWE
Date 5/6/06
Radio 02.25.11
Did a Hard Reset with no change in behavior. I'm using 802.11g (linksys WRV54G v2.37 firmware) and I had no WiFi issues using old original ROM (1.something) that I got with my Cingular 8125. When Wifi disconnects, the phone dutifully connects to EDGE/GPRS correctly and works fine, but slowly of course, through GPRS.
I've tried both answers to "My Network connects to ..." (Work vs Internet)
I've tried turning off cell radio (flight mode; then WiFi turned On)
Hmmmmph ...
try with the 802.11e QoS > setting in OFF in the Pre N settings, I did that and it worked!!!
im having the same exact issue with my new rom, the old one worked gread with my D-link 614 +, now it sees it but i wont connect unless you reset the router. Does anyone have any solution for this?
thanks
I reflashed my belkin today to the same firmware, and my mda couldnt connect (wizard 200). Disabling 802.11e did work, which implies that there is a bug in the mda with handling of 802.11e.
It may be worth noting this somewhere else as well since it may be that more APs will fail when 802.11e is enabled.
Anybody used the wi-fi router option on the hd2 to connect their pc to internet? I have startet the application and it says running, but no wi-fi router is found on mine or my colleagues computers. I tried the same thing with the wifi hotspot app for iphone, and that worked as a charm.
Just wondering if anyone else has got it working at all?

HTD HD2
I've connected 2 notebook without problems!
Well, now it works like a dream! Dont know what was wrong earlier today, but a couple soft restarts seems to have made it work!
thanks for all replies
Mine's an O2 phone that came without the WiFi Router app installed on the ROM. I downloaded and installed Tom Condon's HTC WiFi cab from and it works well. The only thing that I don't have (yet) is the shortcut to the WiFi Router app from the Comm Manager interface.

Is this the one from the Bowman Pack? I have installed this and it doesn't work. Can you give a link to the cab you installed? Ta!
*Edit....this *does* work but the range is abysmal, the HD2 has to be sat on top of my laptop in order for it to work.

I heard O2 ripped the wifi app and drivers out of their ROM (not 100% sure). If thats the case you could always flash the Official HTC ROM which will restore wifi, clear a load of horrible O2 branding and add Youtube app Check out this Tutorial on how to do it.
By the way I've use the Wifi app and my Linux and Windows PC/laptops can all detect and connect to the phone. Handy if your out of cable...but unsecure due to WEP.

I've found that name of Wi-Fi router needs no space !!! so, my computer could found it now...
been using wifi tethering with win7 64bit laptop no probs - nice function to have.
I tried to use, but can't see it neither in a XP nor a Vista!!!
my computer could'nt see it too
I could see and connect but no connectivity to the internet
Assigning IP took about 1 min
I can confirm it works fine for me, on an unbranded device.
It worked for me but only when I switched off my home broadband wifi router.

They may have been using the same channel, which would mean that the stronger signal would drown out the weaker one. I'd expect a home router to have a stronger signal so that would make sense. You can change the channel that your home wifi router uses, if this is an issue for you.
Hi folks,
im running Android in my HD2 for 2 months now and the results are great! The only thing that aint working is WiFi tethering. I can connect to my HD2, it says connected but no Internet access. I also see and exclamation mark in my wifi signal in Windows. How can i solve this? Is there any solution?
I am using MDJ RevolutionHD 1.2

Hope someone can help me!
Thnx in advance!
check the dns server on your computer. Maybe you need to specify it.

Your router may have "Mac Address" enabled.
Add phone IP address to computer.
Change your DNS settings.
Check my thread link for WiFi Tether app, WiFi Tether does not work on builds, need outside app to work.
When i download ur wifi tether app and press the tether it says: "Unable to tether"?
I dont use MAC filtering. And in windows i dont need to adjust my DNS. Do i have to do this in Android?

Make sure WiFi is on, yes, you may need to change the DNS settings on Android. When you scan for you device, does your computer recognize the signal? In "Wifi Tether" settings make sure a "LAN" is chosen.
not working...
Same issue here, have tried various apks, leaving wifi on, toggling wifi on and off before launching the wireless-tether app as well as the "android.tether" folder workaround (put it in root of sd), to no avail.
Connection is there but the connection is limited, with the exclamation mark, both on XP and W7 64 bit.
Are there any other settings that have to be made?
Is it something missing in the android build or the kernel!
I am on HD2ONE 3.6, Hastarin 8.6 undervolt, vbn reloaded 3.14 base and radio 2.15.
Thx for your help!

In your task bar: R click on the internet connection icon/open network sharing/change adapter settings/R click wireless network,connections/properties/ipv4: make sure the settings are set to automatic. Also, double check that you are not on an allowed MAC address setting within your router.
still no luck...
Thanks for your reply, I have checked the ipv4 settings on both my xp and w7 laptop, they were both on automatic already...
As for the other suggestion I am not 100% sure if I understood correctly, I have however unplugged my wireless router at home to make sure that there is no interference, unfortunately to no avail.
When I look at the log everything seems good, all the instances are marked "done" and the connection is established, it is only "limited"/"restriceted" though (meaning no i-net access), also the wireless tether app does not show any connected clients?
Thanks again for your help!

UPDATE:
still nothing working in rgds of wireless tether...
EasyTether works however, but with the ppp builds you lose connection every other second...
Hey there! I just got my new HD2 (T-mobile) for XMAS. But I have a problem. When I try to connect to WiFi it tries to connect but it doesn't connect with my router. I tried every key type but with no result.
P.S. Sorry but I couldn't find any threads matching my problem.
Your wifi router is wireless 'N' type?
If so, you will have to search the forums how to enable Wireless N WiFi network on your HD2

The fastest way to find out is to go to a local Starbucks etc who have free wifi, and see if it connects, if it does then its your home wifi router key that needs to be sorted out? I use WEP for my wifi and an easy key that i remember. Give it a try, or ask your fiends that have wifi to try and test on there system...
Or if you did set your wifi router on "N" then reset it back to auto mode to get your mobile working.
Russ
try to get really close to the router, like 1 foot away, and see if it connects, if that is the case, your antenna has come loose and you need to send it back to get it fixed.
I have 2.4GHz b+g+n with WPA TKIP on channel11

I am running Froyo 2.1 on Kumar ROM and cannot use or set up the "portable Hotspot" feature...Is there a fix?
So after sucessfully flashing my HD2 to WP7, and obtaining a 25 digit activation code for Live Services, I go to turn it all on and it refuses to connect with my Wi-fi. All it says is "Your phone couldn't reach the Wi-Fi network wireless". I used to hape WPA, but i took it off so that maybe it would connect. But it didn't work. I even disabled the firewall, and the mac filter list.
My router is a Westel Model 327W (Provided by my ISP).
I currently have this rom installed. This is the second one I've had, the first one was the first one that was ever available, idk what it's called or where I can link to it.
Please help me! I can't get data, so Wi-Fi is my only option for internet! Which is my only option for installing apps! And its not working!
UPDATE:
So i walked down the street and tried to access 3 different Unsecured Wi-Fi access points (all of which I could connect to on my iPod Touch) and for each one it said "Your phone couldn't reach the Wi-Fi network ______". So now I know that the problem isn't in my internet.
Please help! I have no idea what to do!
Please someone help! I can't do a thing with this phone! It is so irritating!

Reflash the rom with maglrd, but have you wifi router switched off. once the rom is loaded, look into the wifi settings and see if you see other wifi pick ups.. Now switch on your wifi router. Do you now see your own wifi address! I had a similar problem, but that fixed for me, but also choose wep instead of wap.
C how you get on.
