this looks pretty cool, i'm starting to get into mortscript so this may come in handy, thanks.
thanks good reason to try mortscript
Anyone knows how what's the script to open a application after a certain seconds?
I will be really greatful if someone can answer me!!!!
Thanks for this ide.
there are many options, use these functions:
Sleep
Waitfor
RunAt
Yes! Please continue your work! I love it so far... I wasn't aware of a program like SCI-TE. I wish I'd known about this for a long time
Thanks.
I just wanted to try mortScript.

yeah...if someone wouldnt mind uploading it somewhere other than midh, i refuse to use their service because you have to click 600 things to find what you're looking for that'd be greaaaaat...thanks....and uh, have those tps reports on my desk by monday...yeaaah
Excellent idea! I do most of my Mortscript coding on the PPC tho - what do you think of a PPC version??
Thanks Pi3ch

Man I was just thinking the same thing, this way we can actually create 'settings' mortscripts to edit values within other mortscripts in the device. WOW! Thanks for this and your work on that other forum
A great piece of software for we Mortscript lovers.
I hope you go on with it's development and implements all function.
Thanks man.
It should be a good idea try to realize a plugin for Notepad ++?
It's a very used tool for programmer, based on scintilla and i see you have the api so i think it's easy for you

MortScript is something like a "programming language light", optimized to allow you to write scripts for everyday system maintenance (copy/delete/move files, write registry entries, etc.) and "macros" (run programs, send keystrokes/taps, ...). It does allow several other functions as well (e.g. some basic dialogs), and sometimes I'm really surprised what "programming amateurs" can do with it. Esp. if I think about MortScript starting as a simple way to clean up the startup folder ("run app1, wait 10 seconds, run app2, wait until window is visible, run app3, ..." instead of "run everything at once and stress memory and storage access").

Do you mean emulator for your PC? In that case, yes there is. It's installed together with development tools, e.g. with eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0
Thanks for your reply! That is great news. I'm sorry but I'm a bit new to this, does this mean that if I download eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0, I should be able to do my own programming and see what it would look like on the XdaII on a simulator (that is part of the package)?
i think one have to buy eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0
but anyway yes with the development tools
you get a simulator so when you run your programs you dont need a pocketpc
it's not as much a xda1 or 2 simulator as it is a pocketpc pda emulator so it will not simulate special stuff which is only on the xda series
if you dont want to do it in c++ then
in ms visual studio .net you get the simulator if you make visualbasic or c# (i think) programs for smart devices or what ever it's called in the project creator
yes, here's screenshot of the emulator

Nope. eMbedded Visual C++ can be downloaded for free from Microsoft's website:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...3d-50d1-41b2-a107-fa75ae960856&DisplayLang=en
Christian
After installing the eMbedded Visual C++, when trying to run it this error message comes up. Any suggestions what I should download to make it work?....
A search at the microsoft site gives this result: http://search.microsoft.com/search/results.aspx?st=b&na=88&View=en-us&qu=ce+sdk
Sometimes, I wonder why people ask this kind of questions, instead of performing a search first, and then post a question...
Thanks for your info.
P.S. For your information I did do a search, but as I am new to this I was not sure of which one to download etc.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...14-0364-4623-9ede-0b5fbb133652&displaylang=en
this if it's mw2003 and if the evc++ 4.0 have sp2
simulator
when you downloaded the file eVC4>exe you extract to folder and with the program is the sdk file open that and install STANDARD_SDK and then it should work me thinks
Did the trick!
That did the trick, thanks! However, it seems that I can only access a simulator of a desktop (rather than the Xda). Any suggestions??...

not 100% sure what you mean but if you do mean that you can only simulate a default pda mw2003 not a XDA with all the stuff it does
then i think thats a bit more of a problem
of cause ms will not have simulators of all pda's in the world with what ever extra they offer compared to the default outfit
so unless HTC have a custom simulator addon for ms eVc4
that they offer for free then
you're best bet may be looking at ms's site about at least some more mw2003 phoneedition settings or maybe it could be don in the ms eVC4 IDE itself
What I meant was that there must be a simulator for the xda in the ms eVC4 as someone has kindly inserted a screenshot of it earlier, but I can't seem find it...
I'm pretty new to developing programs for PocketPC's, but I really would like to create my own little program
I already have Visual Studio 5 and Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK.
What I would like to do is select an option in my program. When selected it should change a register value.
For example:
====
Choose one of the following options:
CAPS indicator of the keyboard?
|O| On |O| Off
Save - Cancel
===
This is a small example of what I would like to do. What the program does behind the scenes is very simple actually:
When selected ‘yes’ it should change the register value to:
\HKCU\ControlPanel\Keyb\EnableIndicator -> DWORD ‘1’.
When selected ‘no’ it should change the register value to:
\HKCU\ControlPanel\Keyb\EnableIndicator -> DWORD ‘0’.
When you press ‘Cancel’ I want to undo all changes.
When ‘Save’ is pressed, it should save all selected items and exit the program.
I think when I know how to do one item it’s not to hard to add more after that.
Hope anyone can help me with this one![/b]
mccune: what language are you writing in?
Have you had a look at any books on pocket pc (or windows) programming in relation to the registry?

TnX for the fast reply Vijay555.
I've played a little with Visual Basic at school.
I'm writing the program with an English version of Visual Studio 5.0. After I finish it I wan't to create it for the Dutch users also..
Been looking around for some tutorials on how to create a simple program, no luck so far.. ..most tutorials are to advanced!
This is what I have so far

[/edit]
If you think you might have a word of advice about different tutorials you're more than welcome. I would really like to finish this little app, and know what I'm doing!
McCune,
That's why I asked. I've never formally learnt to program, and played with VB in my spare time to knock up programs and things. However, since getting my Magician in August or so, I've got increasingly into tweaking and programming for it. As such, I've had to learn c++, and I consider myself an enthusiastic beginner.
However, the one mistake that I would warn anyone not to make, is to learn how to practically program, without knowing what you're doing.
Learning c++, I started playing with tutorials and taking apart examples, which was how I "learnt" VB. However, going VB to C++ is a big step, and it looks like you might be doing some .net? But I think that was the wrong way to learn.
My advice: grab a book, work through basics to understand the symantics and theory behind the language, get to know just that much (Ie not much, but enough!), and then throw yourself in like a madman. But really, trying to learn c++ through tutorials, without learning very basic foundations behind it, put me back quite a while. .net might be easier to pick up if you know VB, but certain system specific foundations are essential.
Sorry to sound preachy, because I really know far too little to preach to anyone, but this is merely my advice from an enthusiastic hacker, who likes to take shortcuts: learning a new platfrom and language requires that you do learn a little foundation stuff first, so a few longcuts, and you'll reap myriad rewards!
Have a read through the big post here for some very useful books:

thank you for your help,
I don't think that particular icon is encoded as a gif.
You can try dumping the rom, and then extracting all icons from the ROM. I've done it at home but can't remember which dll that resource is in.

What did you need it for lover?
V
It would be really neat to be able to customize one of your own, and possibly include it in your .tsk files....
Heck, if you wanted to, you could even replace it with one of those boring hour-glasses....
Of course, adding the resource back to the OS might be problematic, but it sure would be a neat customization....
Actually there was a site mentioned here that lets you do just that - customize the wait cursor. VJ, do you remember it by chance?
Any way you can't add it to TSK, the format won't support this, but you can always create your own MUI (built in resource replacement mechanism).
The only problem is, in WM 5 it needs to be digitally signed. It's possible but a bit of a hassle.
Here's the old app that my learned friend was referring to, I believe:
http://www.masellis.com/wait/index.htmhttp://216.239.59.104/search?q=cach...l+ipaq+wait+cursor+hamster&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1
But yes, it is WM2003 and earlier only. As stated, you'd have to digitally sign your .mui customisation to make it work, which is certainly not impossible. Have a look for the signing app made by BeyondTheTech on this forum. If you have Visual Studio 2005 you can make your own test certificate to sign your stuff.

possible - yes
Whats the point of this application?
That's actually a pretty cool idea.
Wonder if something could be made where you wave the phone in the air and a message is displayed like you had on that Nokia phone or those message clocks.
the point is that if you are in a place where is too much noise (disco) or no possibility to hear one another (train station, two different cars etc), you can transmit messages very easy. the display of a pda is wide enough to be observed at long distance. a flash lite program for this app would be excelent.
Great idea for WM application! "Programable" (text and color) led banner. For me very usefull (on lesson) and cool looks...
Seems to me like a big waste, that's why it's avail on the i****e, nothing much more it's good for, except a LED Banner. If anything, a today plugin with this would be cool.
I only know a piece of software that creates LED gif animation. Like this:
{

I would think it's not that difficult to program for WM. You just need to make font template or pixel matrix (the latter should save memory since each character is like 16x12LED = 16x12x2 bits) for a-z 0-9 A-Z .,'... then scale it up to screen size and let it scroll. Just that it may be hard for the more serious programmers to justify spending their time on this.
maybe a less serious programmer will do it, after all
How about creating the program to create LED gif images on the devices, to be used as backgrounds for S2U2.
Easiest way is to use flash
I can`t believe no one wants to make this up...half an hour for any decent programmer. wtf

its easy to make..
using a pixel font blink in a certain frequency waving your arm, due to persistance of view) we see the message writen in the air...

Well it's not that hard. Flash -> download a tutorialfile from the internet on how to make it. Adjust it to your wishes, save as flash 7 or flash lite 2.1.
But why won't you do it, when you want it?
If it's an easy way to program it, this would be an excellent first project for you to jump into.
Good luck!
it will be more nicer if its not flash program..well maybe likje .exe file

It only takes 1 click to open a flash file. It's fullscreen and you can make lnk files to it.
Flash is a programminglanguage, much like any other language. It has it's disadvantages, but when it comes to animation and graphics, like what is requested in this thread, it's superb! Easy antialiasing of all objects. Smooth animation.
It's possible to make an exe file run flash animations, but then you need some other programming languages to work it out, or you can use mortscript and make an .exe

You can code it better, do it!
Hello
I wanted to start graphical programming for a next project i will start so i played a little bit and created a simple and easy scroll program.
I should run nicecly on every .net device.
I have just commented the code for you to make it understandable for newbes who want to start programming in .net with graphics.
maybe i will add a flow feature later.
If you use the code please PM me, then you are allowed to use my code however you want.
So I will call it "PM-me license" ^^
and it would be nice for what you used it
if you have ideas i could add post it here
and please PUSH UP THIS THREAD xD
[Update]
If have made some litte bugfixes, speed improvments and i have added a fps counter.
At my Kaiser it runs without touch at 20FPS when I touch my Screen then only 9
And It Costs 3 FPS when you have selected an item. Any Idea of speed it up?
Which device you got and how fast it runs?
IF someone has ideas to improve the speed please PM me!
[Update]
Simple Flow added, just flowing without breaking or something, maybe i will improve it later on...
would be just add v=a*t + v0 till zero or change of algebraic sign.
[Idea]
http://msdn.microsoft.com/de-de/library/5ey6h79d(VS.80).aspx
LockBits do make it fast, I will take a look later
[Update]
Better flow, icons get read from img dir dynamicly just copy some img files there and take a look. There will be a messagebox with the time needed for loading them. If the pictures are in 32x32 already it needs around 2secs on a Kaiser for 42 images. If there are much bigger it takes 14secs (They get resized).
[Update] You can now run the program under WinXP just run the ScrollerDemo .exe in the MissingSchoolBellDir. Icons are loaded from the img dir
Download:

*bump* ...
Please add a flow feature. This is a great idea. developers helping developers. Thank you!
Update -> Some fixes, speed improvment and a fps counter
@computerjunkie Flow feature comes later iam sorry
Flow feature added, but beware very simple I would call that alpha
Added a better flow and loading of image out of the img dir for the icons
It runs now under XP, if you have a tablet pc it is really nice
