I want to search around me for ppl with bluetooth phones or PDA's. Is there any good program for that? It should work with pocket pc 2003.
Have a nive day.
Let's see:
1) First post
2) Looking for sniffer software to detect people using bluetooth around you.
I'm thinking you're in the wrong place unless you can come up with a good reason to want to do this.
db
blutooth sniffing / packet insertion / snarfing.
Bluesnarf will compile and run if used with the litmus toolkit..
bluesnarf
cool, but where do u get the prog from?
mate,
try this out; app is called "meeting point". i copied and pasted the details from the web; as seen below:
===================================
Description:
This application is designed to search for -and to communicate with- other instances of itself running on other devices using Bluetooth.
When two or more MeetingPoints are within Bluetooth working distance, they will automatically exchange messages.
Meeting somebody for the first time and worried if you could identify the right person?
Need to meet a client on airport, bar, or another crowded place?
Just "tune" the same channel and it will fire an audible alarm when both meeting parties are close enough.
Do you want to exchange messages with anybody on working range? Just select the PUBLIC broadcast channel.
MeetingPoint works on many Operating Systems / platforms, such as PalmOS, Windows Mobile 2003, Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP and smartphones Symbian Series 60.
Every time a Bluetooth device is found, MeetingPoint communicates with it and attempts to perform a handshake. If the contacted device is also running MeetingPoint, and is "tuned" in the same channel, they will exchange messages and its users will hear an alarm notifying of the arrival of a new message.
MeetingPoint uses Bricenter's FDE (Fast Discovery Engine). FDE algorithm is based on statistical probabilities, and works well in the real world.
In a real situation, devices launch MeetingPoint at a random time and far away from the actual meeting place. When they enter the "meeting zone", their Bluetooth states are "shuffled" enough and, according to statistical probabilities, the "contact time" should be minimal. This is a critical feature designed specially for cases were people are moving.
MeetingPoint will redefine "bluetoothing" to a new level.

ok thats cool, but what about the forced entry abilities that 'snarf claims to have? i think the only way to protect myself from it is to understand how it works.

How about turning off Bluetooth?!
No, seriously..
I don't consider bluesnarfing and bluejacking such a big deal, but it would be fun to try it..
Lemme know it you find "bluesnarf1.0_ARM.cab" or something..
http://youtube.com/watch?v=B9s2JqmvYQE
So, I saw this on youtube. Looks like bluesnarfing has come a long way since I last tried! Anyway, the writing is in Spanish or something and I can't for the life of me work out what app this guy is using?!?! Any ideas?
Anyone know any good apps for Bluesnarfing/general bluetooth management? I hate the bluetooth management on the Wizard.
Looks very interesting. Most bluesnarfing utilities are generally for linux, but to find one for win CE would be pretty nifty
Although my Spanish is virtually zero 8) I have tried to follow links on give page.
I have found this: http://gospel.endorasoft.es/seguridad/Files/PocketBluesnarfer.ARM.XScale.zip. Just downloaded and going to test on my Wizard. However, the website says Win Mobile 2002-2003 so we'll see...
well, it didn't work for me Don't know if the problem lies in different BT stack in PPC2003/WM5 or something else.
Darn. Gunna give this java application a go when I get back later:
http://trifinite.org/trifinite_stuff_blooover.html
I tried bloover, but I could never get it to work. The PDA the guy was using looked like a Dell x30.
No idea what was going on in that video, those Dell PDA's are cool, friend has a 624 mhz one. Liked the music.
I use Smurf to do BlueJacking  The SmartPhone version works just fine on my Cingular 8125 (and did on my former qtek 9100). get it at http://www.gatefold.co.uk/smurf/
Maybe someone can hack this app to do full-on BlueSnarfing 8)
SkyyBoy, does this app allow you to look at other peoples documents on their phones, eg images...or is it only to message people?
it says on the web site that the app will always run in the background, is it possible to end the app by using the stop all tasks button in the settings>memory option?
I really would like more bluetooth options. I notice that it really struggles to connect to some Samsung devices.
Also, why can't we set which folder we want incoming files to be saved to (like on the Blue Angel) or to require authorization/authentication depending on which one you desire.
A remote file browser like on the Blue Angel would be lovely too. I thought the Microsoft BT stack was free to use in apps (unlike the Widcomm one whic developers had to pay to use) so people could make their own apps. C'mon people! There is a serious gap in the market for a bluesnarfing app!
I think it would have been possible with the network browser in Resco Explorer, but the bluetooth function is incompatible with the Wizard
I wouldn't expect to get those kinda results all the time to be honest.
From what I remember it was revealed that older SE phones (such as the T68i in this video) had some kinda falw in the Bluetooth Stack (??) that made them easy targets for Bluesnarfing... however I used to have one of these phones in the olden days p) and even if you find someone with one the bluetooth cannot be set to be permanatnley discoverable... you can only make it discoverable for 5 mins at a time (the amoutn of minutes may be different).
Hi. I posted an inquiry about a clock program that could be linked to a bluetooth headset, but there wasn't a response so I figured it wasn't available. A few weeks later, I was informed that Voice Command allows one to get the time by giving a vocal command. However, I didn't see that function listed on the Microsoft website. It got me wondering if there was a program that gives the time through the speakers (audible clock)? It would be nice to get the time quickly without having to pull my phone out of the holster to see the time (I don't like wearing my watch). This would only work if one could map it to one of the buttons and have it turn on even in standby mode.
MS Voice command (VC) can tell you the time. You need to 'ask' for the time. It is not 100% accurate (70%), and it is definately much faster to look at it rather to push the button to activate VC, 'ask' for the time, wait for it to recognise what you are saying, and listen carefuuuuly what it said (if you are lucky that it recognise what you are saying).
There is an app that tells you the time at a specific intervals (I don't think it does on-demand-time-telling), not a full blown stable release though. Do a serach in this forum.
I would like my phone to fetch my letters from the box when they arrives. Anyone with that software?
Thanks for the reply. Is the accuracy problem based on coming out of standby? I noticed that it takes a brief moment to adjust the time when coming out of standby. When I performed a search on this forum, I didn't see such a program, but I might have restricted the search to only the Wizard forum. Perhaps I need to expand that search. Certainly, a Google search did not yield what I wanted.
The accuracy I meant was, whether it will do what you told it to do. Example, if you asked for the time, 30% (depending on your surrounding noise level), it may not recognise the command, or probably dial a number for you
Hmm.. I must admit, it is much difficult to search for that application that I've mentioned. I'll try and let you know if I got it.
found this... not the one that I'm looking for.. it is not free.. and rather heavy
http://vitotechnology.com/en/products/voicereminder.html
Thanks for looking. Yeah, you were right. It isn't quite what I'm looking for. It looks as if Voice Command is the only program that has the feature I'm looking for. Thanks again.
Long shot.. but this seems to do what you want
http://software.pocketpcthoughts.com/product.asp?id=10422
again, not free (not the one I remmebered)
Thanks for looking. I found an audible clock!!! And it's free.
http://www.grapefruitopia.com/smartphone/clock.shtml
It works for WM5 phones and it has to be installed in the storage card. I had it link up to the bluetooth through the Voice Speed Dial function on the Settings menu. I had to create a shortcut and paste the shortcut to the windows/programs folder.
The clock is audible. I haven't figured out how to make it go through the Bluetooth headset yet. I tried to toggle the headset with BTAudio, but when I use the headset to get the time, the headset will toggle back off. If there was a way to keep the headset on for about 3 seconds after the device receives the voice input, then I would be able to hear the time on the headset. This feature would be get for crowded areas when one can't hear the speaker.
Anyone know of a registry hack that might be able to keep on the headset for a few seconds while the time is being announced?
Thanks.
Okay. Got it working. For those who would like to use the BT headset to get the time, here is a way. Download and install the SpeakingClock program (link above) into the storage card. Download and install BTAudio (Toggle version). Download and install MortScript. Write a script to batch both programs to run in sequence.
Example:
#MortScript BT and SpeakingClock
Sleep (500)
Run ("\Program Files\BTAudio\BTAudioToggle.exe")
Sleep (1000)
Run ("\Storage Card\clock\SpeakingClock.exe")
Sleep (3000)
Run ("\Program Files\BTAudio\BTAudioToggle.exe")
Save as a .mscr file and place it in the MortScript folder. Create a shortcut of the script to the \Windows\Start Menu\Program Files folder. Use Voice Speed Dial on the Setting Menu to link a voice command to the script and you have a free speaking clock through your BT headset.
Of course, I guess it would be easier to wear a watch...but, I don't wear one.
- Cheap watch - $10
- Bluetooth head set - $40
- PDA Phone - $400
- Able to tell the time with your PDA through your bluetooth head set without looking at your watch (if you have one) - priceless
I've been fighting with the X1 for over 3 roms and searching the net and xda for some hours without any solution to this.
Simple as that, I want to launch a voice dialing software, (or any other application) excluding Voice Commander, from my bluetooth button, which will take input (voice) from the bluetooth microphone and not from the main unit.
Am I asking too much? This thing can happen quite easily to phones that are decades old. Voice commander is pointless and utter crap for non supported languages. I've found various recording apps for that purpose but I haven't managed to launch them using the bluetooth button. If I am to use the main unit, voice dialing misses its purpose.
So any hints or advice where to head to? I've seen many registry keys and bluetooth audio gateway dlls but none could actually execute a custom application instead of the damn Voice Commander.
Thanks.
For me, Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 works perfectly, but I guess you're saying that it's not available in Greek?

Not only that but some people prefer prerecorded voice recognition than Voice Command. In any case it should be possible to launch any application you want with the bluetooth button voice dialing or not, the question is how.

The site once was a paradise of music but it's been down for some time. Removed the link until it is back up again.
So people anyone? I wouldn't have imagined that XPERIA can't record callers voice nor a configurable way of voice dialing with bluetooth. These things are for granted in other platforms...
Hi,
I need testers for my application,
this is my first "full" application that has to do with both pc and mobile through bluetooth.
This is (as the topic states) a application that enables you to control winamp
from your device. (Other mediaplayers can be added too if that's something people want).
The only device it's been tested on is my HTC Artemis (P3300), on windows vista x64.
The windows GUI is very small, it enables you to set the device.
The windows mobile GUI enables you to control winamp.
Screenshots attached.
Links is:
PC App (Auto updating on start).
http://stigatle.net/uploads/blueamp/setup.exe
WinMobile app:
http://stigatle.net/uploads/blueamp/Blueamp_winmobile.zip
(Not auto-updated at the moment, needs manual download)
This is how it works:
1) Pair your devices with windows (as normal)
2) Start winamp
3) start the pc client, search for your cellphone (it will show in the dropdown)
4) Start the winmobile client, search for your PC.
If you find both, then it should work (in theory).
Things that is not finished:
Volume up\down
Playlist editing\listing.
I really hope someone feels this one is usefull.
Please post any issues that rises.
Thank you.
This is pretty cool. There is also a program called salling clicker that uses scripts to control winamp, WMC. itunes etc over blue tooth. I'll give this a whirl. Thanks!
i know also a tool that controlls winamp from the pda.... it is called "media remote" for winamp... it works over usb (activesync) wlan and bluetooth.
this tool also lets you search in your libary on the pc and shows you the tracks on the pda...
but i have to say that this is not a verry stable version
There's also an app called remote amp and it's like the one described in previous post but only over wlan i believe. But works fine.

RemoteAMP is amazing. Controls all WinAmp functions, including multiple instances, even over BT or 3G. I use it on my Vogue all the time. Very quick response time too. Doesn't do much to the battery. When you power off the device, it kills the connection, and comes back up within a second or so.
The only drawback is that if you load an insanely-long playlist, (like 30-40K songs, it can take 10 minutes for RemoteAmp to download the playlist.
RemoteAmp also lets you search your entire library and create playlists. I use this for parties.
I would also love to see an alternative, because RemoteAmp died years ago. I have just held onto my copy, designed for a much older version of CE, but still runs fine on my Vogue.
Hi again,
thanks for the response.
I do realise there are other apps that does this,
but I wanted to learn, and make my own.
Currently working on next version.
Making "Get playing song" now, so that it'll send the current playing song to the mobile.
Spending my weekend developing further.
I got the sending of current song to work now.
Really nice feature if you ask me
See attached screenshot.
I'll upload the new release later today. Need to clean the code first.
My 2 Cents...
You should consider supporting WIFI. I have about 7 computers on my network, all accessable via WIFI, however, only ONE of my computers supports Bluetooth. I'm sure there are alot of people who have WIFI, but don't have a single computer that supports bluetooth.
If you support as many connection options as you can, your application stands a better chance of becoming the defacto standard for Winamp remote control on the PPC.
Thanks for your efforts! Your hard work is appreciated.
Thanks for the input.
I will make WIFI support too.
The reason why i mainly decided to use bluetooth was because
wifi tends to use alot of power on the device.
Still working on the "send current playing song",
I have some trouble getting the string out of the array correctly.
(it adds a bunch of garbage letters to the string, and I cannot figure out where\why). But new release will be out as soon as this is resolved.
New version released.
Various bug fixes.
and added volume adjustment.

The "send to device" option is pretty damn cool!
Can you just stream it instead? I've always wanted a program that could both CONTROL my WinAmp, as well as stream it when I am away...
Does your software tap into the WinAmp library, or create it's own by scanning your hard disk?
Keep up the good work man!

It checks the playlist for current playing song, then get's the mp3 file and sends it directly.
I'm also looking into streaming the audio to the device, so that you can use your phone as a "wireless walkman"
First with bluetooth support.
as well as stream it when I am away...
Do you mean as in using a data connection? WIFI\GSM\3G?
Like stream over web?
thanks for the feedback!
This is a really cool idea. I have a suggestion which might broaden the usefulness of your application. Instead of limiting this tool to just winamp could you expand this to work with any application? On the PC side the user could specify which application (example MyVideoPlayer.exe) you'd like to control. On the PPC side the app could present a matrix of softkeys, each of them could be assigned an action to be delivered to the PC application. Example one of the keys could send a "P" to the application "MyVideoPlayer.exe" which would 'pause' my player.
Anyways just a thought.
Leon.

Personally, my main use would be to stream it over the web.
For controlling purposes, 3G would be ideal, with BT if available. I use 3G for RemoteAmp and it works great
Honestly, if I had to request a feature, I'd love to see a 'sleep' function, and an alarm function. I'd love to lay down to bed, and select a 20 minute countdown of music, all from the phone-without messing with the PC... and even if it were possible to set a wakeup time
I know the wakeup is not as desirable, but the sleep mode is amazing...

Sleep mode is a good idea, I'll look into this one.
The 3G mode has to wait a bit, first I'll continue to add features that are currently missing, then make it more "clean", and debug more.
When the app is fully stable I'll add support for more players.

Nice work. Now get it to work with VLC and you'll be my hero.

first up is windows mediaplayer.
here is another one. i tried it and it works good. also searching in mp3 directory is possible. wlan and bt support. works for me good with wlan
