I went to change my touchflo sensitivity in HKLM\Drivers\Touchpanel\PressureThreshold and the DWORD data was at 11000? I thought the default was supposed to be 18866? The Base that was selected was Dec. I was planning on changing it to 20866 but figured i would ask here to make sure i'm not gonna mess anything up
no problem i have it at 59866..............
That reg value is set when you do the screen alignment. I aligned my screen 3 different times last night, and got 3 different numbers renging from 17XXX to 18XXX.
ok, thanks
Do you need to soft-reset after this? I'm assuming not since the screen-alignment process seems to make the change and then not require a soft reset.

Hi Everyone:
A small clarification is needed. My device is defaulting to Moscow GMT+3 everytime I restart it. I want to know actually 3 things if possible:
1- What's the registry key that allows you to select the regional settings?
2- How can I know the table code of countries like Moscow is 0x00FFXXX, etc... for the various time zones.
3- I noticed sometimes that whatever registry keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> nls, they are changed everytime the system restarts. I was assuming that nls\overrides is doing that but I altered everyting and yet after restart new values appear in nls keys and even in overrides. Is there any other place in registry that writes values on top of nls upon restart?
appreciate the help,
Cheers
I have a similar problem where the backlight timeout setting (on battery power) resets to 10 seconds everytime I turn my MDA off. Really annoying.
I've tried changing the setting in the registry directly as well, but it still changes back.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Scott
It is strange that something keeps changing the reg settings.
I had the 10 second thing on my Jamin and it seem to have something to do with the screen lock plugin.
Never did solve it.
Locale settings are in HKLM\nls DefaultLCID (dword) and you can find all possible values here.
But the time zone is set in HKLM\Time\TimeZoneInformation and its a bit complicated (its a whole data structure and not just a value)
I think you need to check your startup programs (HKLM\init and windows\startup).

Thank you for your reply and for the great link. I am starting to feel that this problem is related to HTC Home. Appreciate if anyone can comment on this issue.
Requesting Moderators / Admin to move this post to the appropriate board
I've been playing with the new PDAMobiz ROM and discovered that in Settings->Phone there is an option to sync time with the cellular network.
Unfortunately this will also force your time zone in to what ever the network is set to which at least in my case is incorrect because the network operator did not want to bother with DLS settings.
Perhaps you have this setting on as well?
I just came across this tweak on this website:
http://www.pocketpctweaks.com/pocketpc_tweaks/Minimize_tapping_Pressure
I tried it and it works great. I now use less pressure on the screen.
What ever you do, don’t set the value below the default of 7526. If you do, you may set it too low, the sensitivity will be too low and you will have to perform a Hard reset.
Here is the tweak from the website listed above:
Minimize Pressure when Tapping the screen
Ever got used to tapping without screen protectors and suddenly you put some screen protector and have a pecuilar feeling (some-what like tapping harder than u normally do) due to the increase thickness of the protector?
Well i have gone to that and finally ive done some simple tweaks to my xda mini.
I also figure out this could lessen normal wear and tear(scratching of protectors/PDA screens) since lesser pressure is applied to Tap the screen
here's what i did..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Drivers\Touch
If not there try here:
HKLM\Drivers\Touchpanel\ Pressure Threshold
or find 'Threshold'
Change the value of Pressure Threshold.(INCREASE value ONLY!!!)
what i did is set the value at 11880.
i tried doubling the default value. until i have reached my desired setting.
now,its like tapping soflty without having a feeling that i have screen protector. Also less stress on the stylus and screen and faster tapping.
WARNING: Only INCREASE THE VALUE BUT NEVER THE DECREASE THE DEFAULT VALUE.
Lowering the value of Pressure Threshold means you need to apply more pressure in tapping than you normally do.
ive tried this and when i soft reset, the screen won't react even if i apply deep pressure in tapping so i needed to do a HARD Reset!!!
So don't ever think of lowering the value, JUST INCREASE but NEVER LOWER!!
Tweak open for comments.
thanks...
Thanks, this tweak worked wonderfully!
I dont use a screen protector (for now at least) and I noticed an improvement in sensitivity as well when I set it to 11880.

I posted a thread about this before. Nobody answered but I finally found the answer on my own. What you have to do is to make sure you have a storage card and put a file called welcome.not in the root of it. There doesn't have to be anything in it, you can just open notepad and save the blank file with that name. That tells the device to skip the whole welcome bit with the touch screen calibration and all that.
I may not have the name exactly right, it's been several months. But if you do a search on threads started by me you can probably find it.
i saw this in another link and they said to put it at 240, i listened and i had to hard reset. thank you for clearing things up buddy
hey, the link for the program is bad i was wondering if any one could post the a link for it i have looked everywhere. I have a prob. alighning screen and would like to see if changing the sensitivity will somehow help.
Use Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool. Saves you a ton of brainwork, since it's just doing the registry edits for you. Can also be used to tune your Bluetooth Stereo setup, and a host of "basic" UI modifications.
Hi all at this forum

Increase the sensitivity of Touch Screen
I just came across this tweak on this website:
http://www.pocketpctweaks.com/pocket...pping_Pressure
dont work anymore...
Has anybody got an actial link???
And... Does this work for a samsung i900?
With regards
VArmand
Works great for me - thanks colouro
For the max senstivity set both fingerpressure and threshold to -1 or FFFFFFFF in Hex..
I am looking for a regedit to change the default input method. I am particularly fond of PCMKeyboard and use it religiously but every time I soft reset it always defaults back to the 20 button Touch Keyboard.
Thanks in advance, Dan.

Took me a while to figure this out, but you have to first completely disable the Touch keyboard. If you use the standard default sip settings Touch keyboard will always override it on a soft reset.
Reversible method:
Go to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{198D503A-EFFE-4afd-BC54-EED333C80E6D}\InprocServer32] change the default value from \windows\ezinput.dll to something else like \windows\del_ezinput.dll
Also change the default value at [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{198D503A-EFFE-4afd-BC54-EED333C80E6D}\IsSIPInputMethod] to 0
Do the same thing at [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{62B00599-25D2-4e09-8C48-03BF26DB8517}]
(Note: You can also completely delete these two keys rather than renaming the values.)
Then you can use the standard method of setting the default sip. Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip] change the defaultim key to the right value for PCMkeyboard (never used it so i'm not sure). Just search HKCR\CLSID for the keyboard you want and copy down it's CLSID with the brackets then put that in for the defaultim.
Let me know if that doesn't make sense and I'll explain it more thoroughly.

Awesome. Thanks a bunch man. Worked like a charm.
Or others that need to change the default SIP may use the attached .cab. Have fun ...
thank you so much, this was getting to be so annoying
I have tried sipchange however the standerd is still wrong after a soft reset. Sipchange hasn't really done anything or do I need to follow a certain order?
look for a program called IMSelector. It works on my Touch where SIPChange did not

I did that and and it killed my Touch. I had to reset then restore backup. Basically after I made the changes and rebooted it kept coming to black screen with no functionality. Has anyone had that problem? (Before that I had the SIP change installed. Could have been the problem?)
Thanks,

Has anyone been able to make the registry method work on the Touch?
I've tried it twice ad both times I get a dead reboot. So I had to hard reset and restore from backup.

I also get a dead reboot. Looks like OP forgot to mention something...
BTW, TouchPal's CLSID might be
{802C691C-EB46-442c-BC54-DC2C42B156C3}

I use this method on my touch immediately after a hard reset and it always works. I think the instructions are pretty clear.
Are you deleting the key or just renaming it.
Also could you try backing up your phone then hard resetting and following the directions before you reinstall/restore anything. You can use Mobile Registry Editor to make the changes through Activesync.

I renamed the first two and deleted the second two. Maybe b/c I didn't do it once after hard reset.
works fine for me... i prefer the standard keyboard as well.. anyone know if it's possible to enlarge the keys a little more by a registry setting? i'd like to keep the "Large" keys but also retain the number keys on top as well. if i switch to large keys the number pad disappears, possible to have numbers+larger buttons?
if this is in the registry, anyone know where i should look or is the standard keyboard size fixed?
IMSelector did not work for my vogue but SipChange did. No need to fool around with the registry which I'm scared to try.
Did you try to use SKTools? I use this app. and its woking on my HTC Diamond.
To cwzkevin,
I have also experienced deadlocks at the next boot. They seem to be related to using an wrong CLSID for the desired new input method. At least for each language this is different.
My changes, according to the original post from EliteXen, did work on a german Swisscom branded HTC Touch Pro, but provoked the black screen on reboot on a english Swisscom branded HTC Touch Diamond.
I did delete both keys, not changing them.
So, look up the CLSID first, before using it.
br, Marcel
Ok a lot of fun can be discovered from changing registry entries and seeing what they can do. Here is a small guide:
If an entry has a 0 it means it is disabled or off. If it has a 1 it means it is enabled or on.
Remember and make a note of any change you make in case you need to put it back.
Search for common words in the entries and see what they relate to and if they can be changed Eg:
disable, enable, show, hide, lsk, sms, boost, cache, icon etc. Go through each one. Make any changes you want based on logic of the entry and reset maybe. Go to the app where you would expect to see the change and see if your tweak has worked. If not change the reg back again.
Report back here any discoveries or potential discoveries you come across and maybe we can give advice on what should be changed in the reg entry.
Be in the frame of mind you may need to do a hard reset as a last resort so back up PIM first.
I will make a list of new potential tweaks soon and maybe someone could advise on how we can change it. Any changes found will be added to the hints and tips thread.
Here are a few to get started. Please respond with ideas if you can help and submit your own findings too.
1. HKCU\Software\HTC\WebSnapShot
Enabled currently set to 0.
Which app would use this if we enabled it?
2. HKLM\Drivers\BuitIn\GSensor
EnableShaking currently set to 0.
Sounds useful somewhere.
3. HKLM\Services\MyPhoneService
IsEnabled currently set to 1.
If we disable this if we don't use MyPhone will this free up some services/resources/memory?
4. HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\Common
DisableCapAnimation currently set to 1.
I presume this means some sort of caputre animation when taking a photo (like the iphone when the iris closes). I tried setting this to 0 to enable it but saw no animation when I took the photo. Maybe something else needs to be done.
5. HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCMessaging
DisableCacheWhenLengthierMessage currently set to 1.
This mean cache is off with long sms messages. If we turned on cache would this be good?
6. HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCMessaging
ManilaEntry currently set to 0.
I set this to 1 but could not find any change. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place.
7. HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCSettings_Improvement
HavePersonalSecurity currently set to 0.
I have set this to 1 and a new option suddenly appears in the Manila Settings tab below About Phone option. It is ABPS, ISP, network location service (Personal Info Center). However tapping on it does not open it up. Hmmmm...
8. HKLM\Software\Tegic\T9
Prediction is currently set to 0.
I thought T9 prediction is already part of it? What could this do if we turned it on?
9. HKLM\Services\Windows Live\Plugins\Mail
Max Mail Headers currently set to 50.
Dy defualt Hotmai only downloads the last 50 messages. I tried changing this entry to 75 but no luck. Anyone else?
Anyone want to get involved? I think it could be a good challenge and we may discover a gem of a tweak.
I remember I saw this posted a couple months ago
Once you align the screen, you may find that the default setup was actually better than your own (speaking from experience)
HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH\
There is a string called calibration data, it is this that changes everytime you align the screen.
The default value is:
287,479 57,96 57,864 518,864 518,96
(commas and spaces are present)
Perhaps someone can even make a cab out of that
Hope this helps someone
