Greetings, I flashed my mda last year by following the simple instructions on this site (thanks), yesterday I received a wing and decided to flash it. But I'm not really understanding all the terminology. I remember how easy it was to flash the mda, is there a way to flash the wing as easy? thanks

read... look... and ull find.. its NOT HARD AT ALL>>>
It's still easy just requires some reading & following directions.
IMO the easiest way is to use opentouch 3.0 with USPL, it's like 2 steps...no need to add a million individual .cabs or reg tweaks, it's cooked in
Here's a link(paying back karma for my own newbie questions!):

i have the cingular 8125 and i dont know how to even get TouchFLO on it at all...i dont know if my phone is compatible with it soooo i need some help.
Thanks
oh and i need the windows mobile 6 upgrade...ne 1 know how to upgrade?
TouchFLO wasn't meant for the Wizard. It was meant for the HTC Touch. In fact I'm almost seeing it as a waste of resources these days. But if you want, look for a ROM that contains TouchFLO, particularly TNT series, which are found in this thread.
And if you want WM6, educate yourself first on the Wiki here on this site so you'll know more about your Wizard and what/whatnot to do with it.
You cannot flash to another rom without first unlocking your wizard. Read the stickies on how to do this. Assuming your wizard is a G3 device you can flash a new rom daily once you are cid/sim unlocked...if your device is a G4 it will be more difficult. Again, read the stickies first...then find a rom you like and flash away.
Ok so after extensive search on this wonderful site ive found more then enough helpful hints/tricks and not to mention cab files and programs that are just incredible for my Wing...attached is a screen shot...ok so the only issue i have is of course speed, i have been endlessly searching for a stable rom without any bugs and a sharp look (like the touchit lg menu one) and on top of that i have read to 'how tos' on flashing a new rom and still have no clue how to do it....its obvious the original tmobile rom is the slowest and lags...is there anyone who can recommend a rom and help with the step by step preocess??? what is the first step and when i do flash to the new rom will i lose everything i currently have on the device now...? i know newbie questions, sorry...thanks for the help in advance
You have an interesting way to write.
For what device are you looking for a Rom.
wfg
Starbase64
tmobile wing or herald i was told...and why is it so interesting? ha

Yes, by all the phone ghods, install HardSPL before attempting to flash the phone!
IF something goes wrong, your chances to recover the phone successfully increase a very large amount.
But PLEASE before starting to upgrade, read a little bit in the wiki about how to flash the phone, the dangers and what to do to decrease the risk. It will stop the homicidal rage building and being released in a mighty rush after hours of having to read and reread MORE information to try and find the answer to unbricking your Hermes. It would be a shame for you to destroy all you love (your hermes...... and anyone in the immediate vicinty) just because you hadn't read some of the useful knowledge gleaned and refined by the gurus of flashing. Any questions you have are probably answered in th posts but if you've looked, cant find an answer and need help, ask away. Happy upgrading and welcome...
As stated above read the WIKI and MrVanx's Hermes Upgrade Guide before doing anything
Hi,
I have a T-Mobile MDA Vario II, which is unlocked, upgraded to WM6, and has Hard-SPL installed on it. I want to learn how to cook ROMs to use on it. I already have a basic knowledge about the acronyms (like RUU and ROM, and stuff like Bootloader). I've done some research, but I can't find anything that will help me. I already got HyperCore, and set my device as a Hermes on Device.txt. Can somebody please help me, and give me a manual or something, becuase I really want to make a custom ROM for my phone.
Thanks,
VercettiM

Hi there just got my new SGS 2 from Vodaphone ( an early upgrade ) on my SGS I follwed this guide to root and install a custom rom to it.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818556 .
I've had a look round and was wondering if there is a similar guide for the SGS 2 ie one that is in plain english for pepole who are stressed already lol so i can install a custom SGS 2 rom on to my SGS 2.
Thanks in advance...and to the flamers yes i did try to search
A similar guide for the SGS II to installing an SGS ROM onto it?
Step away for a while, decide what you're wanting to accomplish, then come back.
If after that you decide you just need root, [16/Nov][ROOTING/UNROOTING] Xperia 2011 Easy Rooting Toolkit [v3.0](zergRush Exploit) is all you need.
If you need something else, please, please, please read before you do something stupid, like using anything at all designed for the SGS on your SGS II.
HI there I have edited my OP.
I want to install a custom SGS 2 ROM on my SGS 2.
What custom ROM? Find the ROM you want to install, confirm it's definitely designed for the same model number phone as yours, and follow the instructions in its thread.
I was thinking about using darky rom this time round but the flashing routine looks more complicated....I was looking for a guide similar to the one in the post i linked to.
I used this guide to root my phone
before you do all of this go to your contacts and export/copy them to your sd card., so when you load a new rom on you can import them all back again if needed.
http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2/
and to do a clockwork mod and back up of the standard rooted rom.
its a good idea to get titanium app to back up all of your info/apps.
once all of this is done, you can chose a different rom if you want to use one, then follow the user guide for the rom, as from what i have read, they sometimes can be different way to get them onto the phone.
hope this helps
You find a 40 step guide easier than a 6 step guide? Okay.
Well, if you've decided on the ROM you want to install, why not read through the thread and see if others found it difficult too and made it a 40 step process as well. If they didn't, and that's the ROM you want, post your question there.
lol the 40 step guide seemed easier tbh as every step was there and made reading and re reading before i did anything easier.
Im old and stoopid ....well thats my excuse and im sticking to it
