Bigstorage - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

guyz is there any way to perform Big-Storage in WM6..actually i didnt notice in the wiki that it has to be performed in WM2003 only ( it was bearly noticeable)..and i flashed away to wm6.....I request the MOD to edit the Wiki accordingly and Make it start with NOTE : [/] not hint
e.g : NOTE : - CAN ONLY BE DONE IN WM2003

Ehh? What is the point of your post?
You can edit wiki by yourself dont you?

the point was to ask for the way to do it in WM6..sure i can edit it but the Mods will do it better

1. Up to now - there is no way to do it in WM6.
2. I think, mods will not edit it, they have better things to do. Do it yourself

BA-WM6 Who's Cooking?

i know the community would like to know who's cooking
and making the WM6 as flawless as possible.
(based on Helmi,
he quit the kitchen for that stealing issue and it's
all too bad for us. [] )
it's been a while and so many bugs have been seen...
we need to find a rom that is almost as good as it first flash
without the bugs.
anyone?
and where can we get your sample rom?
or is it just AKU that we're getting?
feedback is greatly appreciated.
From one of Helmi's posts:

Thanks again.
ooh yes.. sorry all about that text.. it not supposed to be there... I hv problem back then with hima guy who stole my work, well stolen artwork is happens all the time, but now I forget about that, I do it for the community not for that kinda of jerk shameless ashole, please ignore the text.. and again sorry that I include the text, it is not on purpose..
btw Hopes BA will hv AKU.0.7.0 soon...
First excuse me for my english.
There is no problem for replacing SYS part of kitchen. After some tests I changed Helmis kitchen and now I can relocate modules in kitchen with G'Reloc from misar ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=331094 ). In my personal test ROM I have SYS from AKU 0.7 , but real problem is in drivers - still exist bugs with comm manager and turn on/off wifi and phone , I can't replace old sdbusdriver.
I have also too little knowledge for modyfing XIP section of ROM ( I think that some more advanced users can help us with it) .
How to import other sys to Blue Angel:
1. Read how to make kitchen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310287
2. Read grelock thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=331094
3. Replace all modules in OEM part with normal dll-s ( simple g'relock incorrectly relocating some drivers modules , I'm too lazy for checking which exactly) .
4. Replace SYS ( carefully read GRelock thread )
5. Run G'Relock
Finally you have ROM with replaced SYS.

Cooking A new Rom

Hello & good morning Every body.
I need a lot of answers to Cook a WM6.1 rom. here are my questions :-
1- How can I convert Cab files into OEM ?
-------------------------------------------
2- How can I modify them to relocate the short cuts to different folders ?
-------------------------------------------
3- How can I delete the Help files from it?
-------------------------------------------
4- what are the tools I need in cooking a rom ?
-------------------------------------------
5- How can I add the OEM packages in the rom ?
-------------------------------------------
6- How can I delele the programs or files that I don't need from the rom ?
-------------------------------------------
7- Do I have to modify the registery and how can I do that ?
-------------------------------------------
8- I read that the net compact framework 3.5 is better than the 2.0, so how can I replace the 2.0 by the 3.5 ?
-------------------------------------------
9- I like the Spb mobile shell and the other Diamond skins for the windows applications like the dialer, the calculaters , contacts and the Windows media player. So how can I merge this application to start as the today screen and how can I replace the windows skins with the diamond skins ? what are their pathways?
-------------------------------------------
10- How can I replace the File explorer with the resco Explorer ?
-------------------------------------------
11- How can I create new folders in the start menu ?
-------------------------------------------
12- If I don't need the ram disk can I blend it with the rom ? I mean the programmes memory and If it possible will the device be faster ?
-------------------------------------------
I know that these are boring questions and It may waste your time but forgive me I'm just a newbie .....
Just finished the 5th medicine year ,, so If you need my help in medicine I'll be here for you......
My device is Himalaya ( Qteck 2020 )...
please answer my questions in detailed fashion ....
the help files are html documents.
you can find it in the dump folder.
to cook a rom, you will need a kitchen or a decompiler
the registry settings are in the dump folder.
you can edit them by using the windows editor
It's a bit difficult
Thanx for replying ,,, but which kitchen or decomplier should I use ?!
what is a dump folder ?!
if someone can make a tutorial doc with sceen shots that helps me to Learn it will be surely appreciated......
but Even If I cook A new rom I need to add some cabs to it so how can I do that ?!!!
For a start, I think the Himalaya forum may have some helpful info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=243
This thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378987 has a link to the kitchens for the Himalaya.
thanx l3v5y
o.k. these are the kitchens but infact I'm not professional in using them in other words I need some on do demonistrate the steps to me ?
I need to create my own packages from the cab files I have ,,,, so plz can some one EXPLAIN it to me ?
by the way I think cooking roms or reprogramming is more difficult than studing Medicine ......
On the first point, I think trying things out is probably the fastest way to learn... Make small changes, see what happens, and then make bigger changes.
To create OEM packs, you need something like ervius' package tool. here
You need to load the cab file (press the button to do so), and then that will open "MSCEInf". In that program, you'll need to extract the files (It's a button on the top tool bar) to the default location, then close that program and follow the options through with the package creator.
Real progressing
o.k. let's say that I wanna use Avis 6.1 kitchen I'm downloading it but the problem is taht It comes with Chekhar's Rom ( 19199 ) but I wanna use PDAviet WM6.1 ( 19213 ) ?
So how can I replace the chekhar's rom ?
and how can I put the package in the rom ( just coping ) or by using a special too ?
and How can I delete some softs from the rom ?
Could you demonistrate an Example here with explanatory Pictures> I'm just a newbie
Thanx l3v5y So much

That doesn't apply well to the Himalaya, as there is a different ROM structure...

I'm sorry, but I have no idea about the details of Himalaya cooking... I can do Prophets, but not them...
I'd suggest asking in one of the Hima threads, or maybe a mod could move this?
Unblievable
I was hoping it would be beneficial and useful school
o.k.

I think that kitchen may only be able to use that ROM... Try one of the other kitchens... You'll need to dump the ROM and then rebuild it...
My Brain is getting Fried
Plz at least , I need someone to help me to package my cabs...
I do have the Package Creator, I even Packaged a cab but the problem is I need to delete some files ,, such as help one and I need to replace / relocate some inks also when I'd packaged it I didn't find the resultant file although it was saying packaging completed successsfully.....
I've been reading the tutorial on wiki and some threads provided in the forum but, I did not understand anything although the manual method looks somehow easier than the automated method using the creator program but it takes a long time with someone impatient like me.....
what I need is an Example demonisterated thoroughly and precisely .
since I'm using the Quickmenu I had been sorting my softs into many folders , Multimedia , Utilities , readers , E-Books, etc but some of these softs are installed on my SD card because of shortage of Storage Memory ( Device one ). It's just a 30MB. So if there is any Expert in packaging issue to help me or and that's unfortionate I'm gonna give up the whole Idea of Cooking and baking....
Thanx brothers.

WQVGA Themes (Samsung Omnia)?

Hi been looking everywhere on this site and all over the net and I cant really find any themes that fit my samsung omnia which has wqvga resolution. Can someone please help me find some as I really want some of the really good themes on this board but I dont know which ones fit wqvga.
thanks
Hello my friend :]
These are some themes specially designed for samsung omnia that
Supports Resolutions:
QVGA (240x320)
WQVGA (240x400)
VGA (480x640)
http://www.imarche.net/omnia/
===================
Installation Instructions:
-------------------------
1) If you haven't installed mobile shell before, skip to step 2.
Run UnInstall.mscr to REMOVE the previous version (this will completely remove the
'SpbMobileShellSkins' folder from your "My Storage" / "Storage Card".)
2) Extract the .zip file into the root of your desired storage location.
3) Using your device, open File Explorer and find your desired installation
location (as above). Go to 'SpbMobileShellSkins\Scripts'. In here run the
file 'Mortscipt.exe'. This will enable the other scripts to run.
4) In File Explorer, run the file "Install_WQVGA.mscr"and set your LANGUAGE.
5) You will notice 28 other scripts like Luna_Paper.mscr. Each time you run
one of these, when you go to SPBShell/Programs/Tools/SBP Skins a new skin
will become available. If you want all 28, then run all 28 scripts.
Check the website for screenshots.
6) SOFT RESET the device or run the script "ScanStatus.mscr".
Having trouble?
- If all goes wrong, or you don't like the new skins, you can revert to
the original skin by running the 'Orignal.mscr' script!
- If the link into the Spb Skins sub-menu doesn't work, CREATE IT AGAIN
tapping on the relative .mscr script from the Scripts folder.
==========================================
TIP : you can perform a system format incase something goes wrong with your omnia by switching the phone on while holding both call and end call . This will allow you to format the device and go back to initial setting like the first time you switched your omnia on.
ok thanks but how come all the people on here that are making class themes dont make em for wqvga aswell?
first: a skin for what ???
second: omnia is new and the only phone with that resolution and making a skin needs many days of work. so why should anyone do that for one percent of the users for free?
first: why are u having a go im only askin
second: the phone has been out for months and this is a place littered with wm themes so im askin if theres any for omnia and why there isnt
third: get over yaself
whats your problem ?
i just asked you for what application you want a theme/skin because you wrote nothing about it. and then i answered your question why there aren't so many out. so please dont post here anymore if you have a question or need help noob.
bad..
the first three posts and what an awful behaviour....
First while there is a wealth of WM information on this forum just remember at the end of the day this is a HTC Forum, not a Samsung Forum.
With that said, I'm a omnia user as well and I would suggest you check out some other forums like Modaco as they have a specific forum for Omnia and you will find more information you might be looking for there.
There will be some discussion on xda forum and I make it a habit to keep in touch with several forums as to broaden my knowledge base.

dump a rom and reconstruct it

hy all. i have a problem (wish): i want to install a clean rom ( i have it allready) and i want to customize it with the programs that i want to, and then, to save this rom (i supose that i have to dump it and reconstruct it) exactly with my settings/applications/etc. can i do that? if I can, how? thx alll.
When you customize your polaris on the device itself, it doesn't change the ROM on it. So dumping it will not give you a new ROM. You'll have to change the ROM on the desktop, and upload it afterwards. There are a lot of topics about ROM building.
ok. thx. i will go then to that topics. thx.
Yes but the problem is that all those posts are about porting a 6.1 rom from another device to polaris.
Now that we have a 6.1 rom how exactly do we cook it and flash it back?
Here's my problem: I have the PTG 6.1 rom, but I want to replace the CF2 with CF3.5 and replace TTN6 with TTN7, and flash it back.
I already have Kitchen 1.3, extracted the 'RUU_signed.nbh' and a dump of 03_OS.nb.payload.
Now, where do I go from here?. I want a rom that's exactly the same as the official one but with the changes I mentioned above.
I'm a complete noob at this cooking rom issue. I've read lots of threads but I've only gotten more confused about all the XIPs, SYSs, OEMs and stuff, and I think the same happens with other users.
I know that some of the actual cookers were once in the same place I'm now, so can someone point me out the rigth way and if possible post a detailed tutorial on how to extract, cook and flash back a rom on POLARIS, me and lots of users would apreciate it a LOT.
Second That Thought.
What would be nice to see (if possible) the following,
as an example:
1. Download Polaris ROM Kitchen v1.3
2. Extract to c:\Kitchen
3. Copy your ROM image (*.nbh) to X:\
4. Run command
...20. Install Package (M2D.cab) by doing the following ...
21. Recombine the ROM by doing the follow commands ...
22. Flash your ROM to your Polaris
23. Hard Reset and verify that the package you installed is in your ROM
Congrats
A step by step like that, which walks a user though the process of a demo ROM and a demo *.cab for learning would be FANTASTIC!!!
Thanks in advance to whoever can help us out!
Juxtyce
bump.
Any help from the professionals out there?
Look here:
1. .Net2.0 => .net3.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2685138&postcount=22
2. replace the ttn.cab file in the folder "\kitchen.work\Build\OEM\OEMAPPS" with the TomTom7 cab. If it don't have the same name, rename the new cab or edit the file 'config_AP.txt' in the same folder
hope it will help you I managed it this way.
P.S. I didn't change the XIP as mentioned in the given thread. See following posts
I will dump the wm6.1 rom for you guys, and provide you with a kitchen with some packages you can use.
I will do so for all available languages that is available with official wm6.1
But,that is gonna be quite time consuming, and I hope that you understand that I ask this in return:
Any small donation for the time I use on that will be of help.
I dont say that its required, not at all. I am not doing this for money.
But the number of hours I spend on this is getting pretty high.
I will do this project either you donate or not.
cheers
thank you a lot itje. can you make in romanian also?
dunno if it's the good topic to post but let's try.
I see many fantastic people cooking excellent roms (i wish i could do the same...), and, in those roms, a lot of softwares.
Isn't it possible to just have a rom with the bare minimum?
and seperate cabs to install what you want?
for example, manilla 2d is cool, but many people like spb mobile shell better, so it's wasted memory.
May be i'm just wrong, don't understanding how it all works, so plz explain to me !

There is a large choice of ROM's, some loaded with extra's, some very minimally equiped. There are so many that your favorite must be out there already. Just search for it.

1st 3 things i need to do

what are the 1st three things i need to do to make my new x2 work at its best?
Update to MR2.. Then remove panells just not the spb.. then search this forum..
update to MR2 than customly install needed cabs (find a topic on here)
do the little registry edits download latest spb shell
overclock to 1056mhz - optional
