How do you guys play these games on your WM devices? Are they not DOS games? Or are there WM versions now?
Or is there a DOS emulator out there for WM that everyone knows about except me?? :-(
Thanks,

their source went open and people recompiled them for wm
if they were to run emulated it they would run too poorly for anybody to bother
You'll need an external keyboard or something.
Without tweaking, you've only got the d-pad and centre button available for use in games. In addition, I've only been able to unlock the camera shutter button for mapping... but in doing so I've broken it's normal functionality as a shutter.
Best bet? Look for games that were created for windows mobile and rely heavily on the touchscreen for control.
Also note, when looking for software for the Touch/Vogue... you might want to skip the smart phone versions. You DO have a windows mobile smart phone, but usually the smart phone version is for a device without a touch screen.
You can use the camera, dpad, send, and end buttons in most emulators, with the combination of the touchscreen. I can use em in all of mine
no external keyboard needed for any of the ones i mention
it's all part hardware buttons hard touch screen for moving the char and shooting if we sepak of fps games
though imho these fps's are not really usefull to play for real
rts and rpg's works better because one dont need as much precision and speed
though hardcore rts fans may beg to differ
My favorite games for the vogue are
-pocket quake (Quake is my favorite game of all time. I'm going to try the qrally mod on my ppc)
-Pocket Hexen
-Worms world party (I love that i can pass it around in two player mode)
and pocket ufo (I also used to love x-com)

Hey fuzzydeer,
How did you get the key mapping to work in Worms World Party?
It seems to only allow you to assign the "Camera" button to either Jump, Shoot, or Backflip. I only really want the shoot button to work, but it requires that you register all of the keys!
ajones, what emulators are you using that allows you to assign the send/end keys to the controls? i have tried some emulators and have had no luck doing this.

There are other threads on games, we're all just geeks here, no time for that l4m3r kinda stuff.
I almost never use my phone for games, but more due to lack of time. I think if it weren't for the stupid dpad issue (can't press dpad and some other keys), it'd be a kick ass device. Particularly the wizard, with dpad on one side, "action" buttons on the other, it's like a PSP but useful (I'd love to have a PSP, but I'd spend all day hacking it!)
However, I love xRick, Monkey Island on Scumm, Tetris, Asteroids (Pocket Frog version) and Space Invaders (found on Modaco).
Not free, but I love SprintRG, Elite, Vector Blaster (I bought it for both my p900 and Magician!), Pocket Slay (superb, even just in trial mode), and BustEm.

pocketNester will let u play every Nintendo Entertainment System game ever made and it runs very smoothly on the HTC Wizard, un-fu**ing-fortunately, the the phone buttons cannot be assigned, so you only have one button on either side of the d-pad.
many windows mobile games don't run very well on the wizard because of its OMAP processor structure. you need to do some system tweaking to get some games to run smoothly, and there aren't many system tweaking apps for the OMAP processor out there, yet.

Yes. This is done through skins. Check out "Skins Specs.txt" in "Skins" folder of gfDoom. Attached is my skin. Place it to "\Program files\Doom1\skins\default" folder and replace old file.
Shortly, you need to know key codes for keyboard buttons. These can be obtained using MorphGear / Button configuration. Then mapping is done by adding lines in this syntax "VKHWBUTTON KeyCode NameOfFunction" to "doomskin.txt". List of commands is given in "\Program Files\Doom1\skins\Skin Specs.txt"
Example for "O" (key code is 79) to open doors (command: OPEN)
Code:
VKHWBUTTON 79 OPEN
My keys:
Ok/X = Run toggle
O = Open doors
SPACE = Fire
BACKSPACE = Escape
G = Gamma level increase
W / S / A / D = Cursor with strafe keys
X = Quit game[/code]
Does 'Street Duel' work on it? That game is awesome!
Ah I just got scummvm to work on it! Very chuffed!
Is the law regarding that, you can download the games aslong as you have the origionals even if its in a different format? As I have Monkey Island for the Amiga, so would it be legal to have the scummvm version?
Does anyone know where I can download Discworld and Broken Sword from? I have them for the Playstation but they would be wicked on my phone! I know the website jmc mobile has a few good ones on it!
Same with Doom... Is there just a shareware version out or the full game?

Morpgear works great, except for landscape east orientation, but using landscape west (keyboard 'above' screen) games are very well playable.
To get good performance, use OmapClock
Yes morphgear woks in landscape an East orientation!
You have to pull the keyboard (so the screen goes to landscape mode) and with a 3rd party software (like "Inclose Mobile") go back to portrait orientation. Then start morphgear and you can play in fullscreen landscape mode without bug.
However it was difficult to assign key... some on them are buggy and don't work properly...
But with omap clock at 264 and thread priority set to low in morphgear SNES game are quite playable!

Just use Start->Settings->System->Screen applet to rotate back to portrait. No need for 3rd party soft. Another acceleration would be using of GAPI Driver (General Settings of MorphGear)

Guys,
Any good emulators for HTC Touch Pro 2 on the net? - GBC
- GBA
- PS
Any nice games/roms for these emulators?(for example i would like to have the whole pokemon series (from GBC to GBA (to DS if possible)))
What are your sources? sites and ****
Will there be emulators of PSP or DS or something or isnt that possible?
Thanks
Dont think those emulators exists.
I was looking for emulators of nes and sega, could find anything..
You can use morphgear if you change your IME settings so it can recognise the keyboard. However, Genesis module crashes and SNES isn't so stable either. SNES is usable though.
I've so far found FPSCe for PS(x?), Pocketgnuboy for GBC and Morphgear for GBA..
But shouldnt TP2 be able to play games from DS and PSP platforms.. it at least has a better CPU?? or doesnt that have anything to do with it?

Please note, you need to emulate EVERYTHING from DS and PSP! Our beloved Pro2 isn't capable of that!
Simply try to play a GBA game with sound enabled and you know how many power such an emulation would need!
P.S.:
Have you tried PocketGBA for GBA games? Loved it on my old dead Diamond!

Just because it has a higher CPU speed, does not mean it should be able to process stuff from other platforms better.
All CPUs have different architectures. The CPU in the Touch Pro2 is an evolution of the ARM architecture. The DS also uses an ARM class processor, but uses a different instruction set.
The PSP uses a MIPS CPU.
Modern computers use variations of the x86 architecture.
The reason why they are called "Emulators" is because they have to emulate the instructions and architechture of the processor of the other device. This wastes a HELL of a lot of your own devices CPU cycles.
This is why running a PlayStation (33MHz MIPS CPU) emulator on a 500MHz x86 PC CPU is pretty slow, despite having 15x the CPU speed.
Does anybode here have a NES or/and SNES emulator, which one supports landscape modus ???
I am using an TP2
1.53 CRASHEs after i try to load the selected rom.
Thanks a lot !
After I have watched the following video, I found that TP2 is quite smooth for playing some games on emulator.

You can also try emulating PC (not just DOS). You can mount any ISO as CDROM drive, there is Windows95 image ready to use, so no need to install, just start it up and play with it.
I got it all to work, it's not very slow, sometimes I click on something and it opens in 1-2 seconds, so not bad.
Not something to install games and play, but something cool to show off and play with.
I managed to add NE2000 network card but couldn't get network to work yet.
Works well on Touch Pro2, including Landscape mode.
After you press F12, hardware keyboard Enter key works as mouse click (single and double click). F5 turns full screen on.
Instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3581848&postcount=258
P.S. There also is older MAC OSX image, loads pretty quickly under that emulator.
I think SNES emulator works...
you may try this..

Not working on my TP2..
Gives a SEND - Do not send error after i chose the rom to load..

psx is playstation one. FPSeCE will run playstation games on Windows Mobile. There is a new version that should be coming out soon I've been keeping an eye on this one.
www.fpsece.net
and how about a c64 emu for wvga?
the *morphgear* is a great emulator (nes,snes,mdrive,gboy,gboycolor....) to full screen mode u have to go in the config settings, tap the vgame u'll play(nes,snes....) and change de zoom 100% to window size. u have to change de driver to (auto to GDI) , in orientation stay in north. to config the inputs u have to tap your virtual keyboard and tap "other inputs method", if u don't to it u'll stock inthe config input method and the number 229 will appear in all buttons. thanks
Anyone had any luck with emulation for the TP2? I knew this thing didn't have a D-Pad so... portrait mode is out of question. Now landscape should work but doesn't... at least in full screen(1/6 of the screen to be exact!). The only ones that worked somewhat were Morph Gear (shows 1/6 of the full screen in landscape mode) and Pocket Nester (only portrait works but doesn't rotate when opening keyboard (YES, I tried pocket nester plus also and checked landscape with no avail). I have to admit something... I've been away from WM for a year now and have grow fond of Android. The app store is nice and everything is compatible. WM MAIN PROBLEM is most dev. have left for Apple/Android/Palm...(jk! about Palm, lol) and/or haven't updated their programs in 2 years. Plus, having 8 different common screen size resolutions doesn't help much either. Emulation (albeit, sounds silly) is (or should be) big part of my pda's functionality. The screen isn't as responsive as I had hoped for a smartphone without a d-pad/trackball either. Android/iphone's touch screen is super responsive and I figured WM would be better is they had added the newer capacitive type of touchscreen. I'm really thinking of returning this phone. For $300, it should have been a lot better. I bet developers will come back when WM6.5 comes around with the marketplace and all. But who knows... Before you all start flaming, please remember I've been here for several years and am just a little frustrated after hours of trying to figure out what works and what doesn't with my old programs. Also, if anyone finds a solution for better emulators, PLEASE feel free to post something. I will do the same as soon as I regain my composer and get some sleep. I really hate to completely abandon WM and would like to find a solution. The TP2 really has a lot of good points but I'm sure most know what they are and what are some of it's shortcoming (which are aggravating me right now). It is pretty new and will sure to have a lot more folks working behind this sub-forum section soon enough. It is a pretty damn cool phone... just pissing me off right now. Please make a comment or suggestion below.
Good night!
I believe Morph Gear WILL work out as a good all-around emulator. As resting my mind somewhat, I realized there is an option to stretch rom image to full screen in the individual emulator console settings (example: SNES console). Combined with the k for Raphael app., landscape mode WILL work. And about the touch screen and D-pad, more force on the touch screen DOES help for better responsiveness for use without the stylus. The D-pad is somewhat made up for with the zoom bar (which sometimes zooms or scrolls (depends on what app you're using). Since I have answered my own questions (without any help from you all! ), let this be a lesson to all newbies... even old folks (members, I should say) make mistakes. I think I'll keep the TP2 (major dilemma avoided) but WM should take a lesson from apple/android and get capacitive screens!
I guess we'll have to wait on WM7 for that though
I had the same problem with Pocket Nester. I actually had to revise my comment. This is basically a bump.
I have the (telus) TP2 and have got morph gear working if you have a ctrl key there is and easier way but to get it working on my phone i downloaded KforTouchPro and morphgear start KforTP and hit switch to M$ IME then minimize then slide out my keyboard and open morphgear (i have found sliding after causes plroblems) and then im free to play (however another issue if i touch the landscape Right side of the screen if gets all screwed up but if i touch the landscape Left side of the screen it goes full screen.
If you really wanna go portrait this MIGHT work http://www.slipperybrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/bt_gamepad.jpg

I got pocket nester plus to work along with k for raphael. The up down left right arrows are backwards so it'll take a second to figure it out.
On my Wing, Pocket nester would work in landscape mode when I turned GAPI off in the graphics settings. haven't tried on the TP2 yet. The lack of a dpad is a game killer.

yeah, it takes some getting used to, for sure... I had PLENTY of practice with my good old HTC Dream (which has a trackball) but actually once you get used to the arrows and keys on the landscape physical keyboard, your gameplay improves. Mainly, becasue there is more room for your fingers. I used to use my HTC Wizard with the D-pad and it was great but some games were hard to play with the dpad and two hardware softkeys. BOY, that was a great phone! It had so many keys to map for portrait mode (5 plus the dpad! Another small flaw with the TP2. only volume keys and a back button are mappable. I'm sure we'll get the speaker/mute button working on the back soon enough. well, a bad strom is here and I am afraid for my pc's life... so I must go! lol... I hope my surge protector works well. **** it, I'm pulling the plug...
I use Morph Gear for my emulation. Although it slower then other programs it's still playable. I can use the keyboard for playing and can stretch the screen so It looks pretty good especially with the image smoothing on.
One thing I do recommend is FPSeCE this is a playstation emulator. You can search around google for version 9.6 it works great in landscape. The framerate is a bit slow on some games but most are playable. FFVII puts out around 30-40 frames for me with sound off and keyboard works great. Just make sure you have the GFX set to GAPI, Landscape right, and that you start the program with the keyboard open. If you do that you won't need the WVGA fix to use it.
I'm really curious if it might be possible to use a bluetooth controller... I would totally rock a BT modded SNES with my TP2... ::dreams::

Maybe for you, but not for me. I play games where pressing diagonal directions is important. That doesn't work out so well when using a keyboard. Smartgear doesn't emulate the sound correctly on my favorite game, Bases Loaded. It's still a pretty good emulator though.

If I can get this to work, I'll be in business!
After the Dream
After seeing the amazing emulators for the G1/Dream (especially the gba emu) I am somewhat disappointed that the winmo emulators that are out are really no where near as good as whats running on android. My theory is that android has proper support for the graphics chip on board and this is just one more reason I think android running on a TP2 would open up so much potential for the TP2's hardware. But hey if someone could get an emulator running at full speed at the 800x480 resolution that would rock. I would even take 640x480 with black borders if it had good frame rates. Imagine running the tv-out and having your own console emulator. I really hope that the marketplace will open up doors for more support for these kinds of things like it did for android. My G1 has been out for a year next month and boy has it come a long way. Winmo has had a huge headstart which I think will help jumpstart the market.
Hi all
Ive downloaded a few games like Worms on my HD2 that seem to work great jut wondering if there is a generic controller that i can download to play games ?
whethr it be faintly over the game screen or whatever ?
thanks
Jack
I use this one here. Im not sure about the compatibility to all the games out there (was designed for worms classic --> the FAR BETTER WORMS BY THE WAY , but im sure they need to support onscreen gamepads to work properly (p.ex. in worms you could/had to assign the keys to the functions of the pad) and unfortunately have to be in/support vga. You need to start the exe inside always before you want to play a game or even better: make a short mortscript which always starts both - the game and the keypad. Enjoy and maybe you want to tell us if it works for other games as well.

Enjoy and maybe you want to tell us if it works for other games as well.

you should really try the new version of Worms, Worms 2010, works with WVGA and touchscreen, it is excellent.

Already tried it some time ago and didnt really like it Classic Worms World Party is still my favorite --> Close to PC-Version, better movement if you ask me, more configurable things and in my eyes still the cuter graphics (apart from the fact, that in worms 2010 even the wvga version is still pixulated which would not have been necessary as the game doesnt need a lot of hardware power)... But thats a matter of taste...
my tp2 in the tmobile one unlocked so use orange and has an April 2010 version of athenos. are there any games 3d racing, fps, rts and other wise that suport the hardware keyboard and run well on this phone? i hate all the touch only nonsence trying to be an iphone. the difference between hermes and tytn2 with 2button press support was fantastic and if i can use the H/W keyboard it would make up for not having a dpad. I tried tony hawks 2 but runs upsidedown for me and about 5fps which is sad with little discernable difference after i renamed the dll in windows and moved the one in the th2 folder there.
im also gutted hardmarks scrabble doesnt work properly where the botton of the letter tiles is cut off.
finally is there opengl or 3d compatibility with the tp2? experience to date has been a little dissapointing and mobile shell 3.5 is a little laggy
thanks for any help you can throw my way
I've been disappointed by the amount of 3d games for our phones much less windows mobile .
Remember the phone is designed for business, but you can try an emulator. I use FPSEcE for PlayStation games. If you do enough reading on their forums you can get some good games running pretty well.
games
Well there are some fun games but not console type go on google and type
SuperMarioBros windows mobile
Xtracts windows mobile
Gears of War windows mobile
games
Ok there not much games right now for windows mobile but go to this website they have some freeware games made by independent developers like SuperMarioBrosHD , SuperMarioJump,Different pong versions, and Gears of War lite. Its located here

thanks alot for the replies and the links. i found air hocky again something i had on the the tytn 2 but it never played great but it was playable but i was surprised to see it run slower on my tp2.
id love an accerlerometer controlled game like the ps3 game with ducks on a tray whatever it was called it was strangley addictive and great fun to have a try each when its cold n wet out side.
i also really want hankmark scrabble as it is the only properly playable version out there it allows you to move tiles arround freely, look up words the lot all other versions fall way behind but the tiles dont display in their entirety so you cant see what letters you have! such a shame. anyone know a work arround? wvgafix doesnt work just makes it worse.
finally tonyhawks. how DO i flip the screen the other way?

I am in the same shoe as you! I had handmark's scrabble on my old I-Mate JAMin, but when I upgraded to Touch Pro 2 the CD wont install at all. So I bought a new Scrabble off Amazon and that wont work either. It needs "Palm Software" before it can install on my device. Handmark suggested I use a desktop running the XP but that did not work either. Handmark is essentially dancing around the issue of continued support for their Scrabble Software. When I asked them about the Scrabble being sold through 'Handango-in-Hand, they did not respond on that. If anybody here know how to make it work, please come to our aid.
