Have you tried setting the wallpaper through the Album? I'm fond of using the slideshow in viewing pictures because pictures look better in slideshow view, right?
Now, i want it to be set as wallpaper from the slideshow mode, is that possible? it just looks good in slideshow mode, and i want the wallpaper to look just as how it is displayed in slideshow mode. Is it possible?
sounds like the slideshow thingy have a better resizing algotitme then just using today picture have
i sugest that you take the picture to your pc and work on it there with resizing and such and take it back to the xda and use it as "wallpapir"
the slideshow on the device cant do anything "magic" which programs on a pc cant do much better
Thanks rudegar,
Whats the image size of XDA wallpaper/screen (pixels/inch)? So lets say I already have edited it on my PC and uploaded back to XDA. how will I set it as wallpaper? the last time I used the Today option, it made my picture translucent, why is that? is there any feature there where we could stretch the wallpaper to fit the screen?
there is some registry setting which remove the translucent thing
i dont recall it though try search the forum
i would try some of the today theme creator programs they make it all pretty easy
I was wondering if someone is willing to help with this?! ( I don't know if there's a similar software)
I edited the config file of throttle launcher and basically deleted everything and only kept the lower slider setup. I put links to my own softwares and also links to the icons I wanted ==> what I got is a COOL software launcher that I can use as a today pluggin!
See pic I attached (I drew in the red/yellow box => that's the icon that shows up when sliding on the lower menu, but for some reason i can't capture it when taking a screen shot)
What I'm having problem with is:
- having it show up in ultimatelaunch
- the height must be at least around 150pixels for the icon that pops up above the menu to show (150 pixels is a lot of space)
- can I get the background transparent?
I hope that APBilbo don't mind this...
this actually is a good idea...
about the transparency: have u tried editing the png images and make them transparent, using a prog like GIMP? or maybe it doesn't work that way.

Why I will mind ?
In fact throttlelauncher started just beeing a program launcher app with photocontacts posibility.
Ok, lets go with your problems.
- About the transparency, you have to set transparency = true param on the skin.xml file your row or setup is using.
- To make it work inside UL, seems like UL doesn't act exactly like the today screen while embeding today plugins. After starting UL with Throttle embeded you have to manualy start the app "ThrottleTodayPlugin.exe" located on the throttlelauncher folder instalation. It should work .
If you're also interested, there's a only photo dialer setup at my forum to achieve the same that you have with programs with photocontacts . In fact, you can mix them having programs first on the ribbon and after some of your contacts .

Also if you don't want the icon preview showing, you can try using the scrollingmodes "Paged" or "Kinetic".
Hope this helps...
After flashing my X1, I just noticed that the original background is in fact 2 different pictures, one optimized for landscape and the other for portrait mode. How can you do this manually? Neither WM nor the Picture Viewer nor Resco Photo seem to provide such a functionality... Would be nice to know, because it's hard to find a picture that fits both modes and still looks nice...
If you're talking about the SE-Panels, here you go

I'm not I'm talking about the Today-"Panel".
if you're talkin about standard winmobile today you have no way to specify 2 different background In fact you will always have 1 image, with some parts showed or not depennding on screen orientation
If you're searching for a good theme maker I suggest you themegenCE
Exactly, landscape is showing only part of the picture which is used for portrait.
Incorrect
It is actually two seperate images.
On the today screen using the Xperia_black theme. I have in portrait Xperia written in the middle with thin spectral line vertically down.
On horizontal, Xperia is on bottom right, with wide horizontal spectrum.
Clearly two different images. So why is there not a way to do this manually, which is what the OP is getting at I think.
This can be done manually, I can't remember the exact names of the files but under the windows folder there are 2 files stwater_480x800.bmp stwater_800x480.bmp, if you replace these you can have 2 independent pictures.
When you change the today theme these files get replaced, I think there is some software available which will let you create a tsk with 2 pictures, but I just find it easier to replace the files.
That's what I've been thinking about. alias_neo, you're totally right.
So but now, assuming I find the files and replace them, the update will not happen directly, will it? Perhaps it would take a Softreset. Is there a workaround to go without Softreset?
My Xperia is bit weird, just a couple of days ago, I found out that when I change the background in Portrait mode,
only the Portrait background will change. Then I slide the keyboard out, and change the background again,
then only the Landscape background changes. And I must say, I like it
I think its a bug or something?
I have a solution for this: Use Resco Photo Viewer. You can set the background image in this program. Set in once in portrait mode, then switch to landscape mode and set it again. This produces 2 separate backgrounds. It works without any trouble. Changes rapidly on kb-slideout, no problem. Looks great, do it!
Hi all,
I was thinking how would be nice if someone could add a menu option for viewing pictures - use as touchflo3D background ( or maybe some picture viewer app which can do this ). Because always when you want to change the background you must slide across the screen to settings tab, select the wallpaper option, click on no ( no default wallpaper ), choose the folder and finally found a picture what you want in that so small thumbnails, click on it and go to the home tab to see how it looks like. But specially in the women pictures you find out (after this ridiculously long procedure) that she has a clock across the face xD.
Correct me if I am wrong. The app with the thumbnails is htc album right? Why there is no possibility to see the image in fullscreen before you select it as wallpaper (as it is in htc album tab) ???
this is so annoying for me, what do you think?
I want to place a picture I took in portrait as my background. I turned off scrolling desktop assuming this would allow me to not have to crop the photo to a landscape picture, but it still askes me to crop it everytime. I thought maybe it was Go Launcher, but it has the same menu in all launcher so it is part of CM7/Android2.3.
Does anyone know how to add a full (top to bottom) picture as the background without having to crop? Thanks in advance!
Ok so I guess I should try google before I ask...so allow me to do the honors.
