I was sending a text message half asleep today and somehow I turned on the on screen keyboard. This is the 1st time I have ever seen it since flashing my ROM. My question is how do I get rid of that annoying keyboard icon sitting in the middle of my task bar. I know if I just ignore it and use the regular keyboard the on screen one stops popping up but I want to turn it off completely. After not seeing it for 2 months it's driving me nuts after a hour of looking at it and trying to turn it off again.
you press the keyboard looking button on the bar below it. it should disappear. to stop the keyboard from appearing, just dont kit the button
I know that part but what I'm saying is I don't even want the keyboard button down there. I have a cooked rom on my phone and before I turned it on unknowingly I have never seen it before this, I want it gone period.
I've searched and searched for this, using quite a number of search words and combinations, but with no luck.
I would like my Touch HD to remain asleep during reminders, and only when I press the power button to wake up the phone will I see the balloon message at the bottom.
I would like this because, sometimes, when I pull the phone out of its case on my belt, and while doing so the screen is already on because of a reminder, part of the case can accidentally touch either part of the screen or one of the softkeys. This often causes the unit to load another program.
I'd prefer it if the unit stayed asleep during reminders. That way I have full control, and don't need to worry if something touches the screen while I'm pulling it out of its case.
Can this be done?
Thanks,
Peter

During call i prefer not to use Blank Screen option, display stays on.
That's why i'm always pushing taskbar buttons with my face and have to dismiss HTC Notification Manager all the time (onscreen buttons are hidden by curtain), possible to prevent it from loading somehow during phonecall?
thank you!
I had the same issue...I saw more of my task manager during a call than anything else. I know you do not want the display off during a call, but consider this...I use "TouchInCall". When I raise the phone to my ear during a call it turns the screen off. When I pull the phone away from my ear it turns the screen back on. It's the best solution I could find for the same problem. I didn't want the screen off during a call, or on such that my ear would keep touching the task manager. Although, there is an app somewhere out there, and I apologize the name of it escapes me, but it will lock your touch screen during a call. I believe it's floating around the forum somewhere...I believe I saw it in HD Themes and Software.
thanks, i'm using this software too, but it turns the screen back on really slowly in my oppinion, that's why i decided to get rid of it.
ARGH! Any way to disable the Start Menu's "Lock" button or make it not appear?
I had an interesting problem that basically results in all data loss if it happens. On a particular Blue Angel I was working on, the touch screen somehow lost its calibration. In attempting to get to the calibration menu, the wonky screen somehow hit "Lock" on the bottom left corner of the Start Menu, and the device locked. Since the touchscreen became uncalibrated there was NO WAY for me to touch the tiny area and slide it properly. Thus I could not unlock the device even though LOCK is something that I NEVER EVER USE. I had to hard reset and lost all data. In WM2003, this would never have been a problem! I imagine if someone does use device lock, a screen decalibration incident would result in all data loss too which is unacceptable!
I tried the classic style lock screen which requires less precision but it still involves the need to touch a specific screen area in order to unlock it.
Is there any way to get rid of the Lock option in the Start Menu competely? A registry key perhaps? I want NOTHING to do with the device lock feature, it just seems to cause more problems and data loss than anything else. Any suggestions?
I believe that I have seen a post or two regarding the soft keys for the Start Menu. I'll see if I can find them.
On a side note, please refrain from opening new threads with questions. There is a Q&A thread at the top of this section for this kind of inquiries. I will transfer your question over there. Thanks.
anybody figure this out? i really would like to know
Lock sucks. If you have the phone locked, and get an incoming call - it doesn't unlock automatically, and there is no way to unlock it on the 'answer phone' screen.
So - you cannot get an incoming call if you use lock.
i dont even use it. i use pocketshield but i dont want the lock button to turn on PS, i want it either gone or to have it set up as a "back" button.
Has anybody managed to get rid of that damn button ? I have been looking around the forum for ages and still can't find a way to get rid of it.
hello all. Im a use rof an old spv. and just got my new HTC HD2
a few questions if i may? i can't figure out and ive been trying since last night, i've searched google high and low as well and called tmobile.
1. the phone when it dims and then goes to sleep, i have to always press a hard button then slide the lock to unlock... is there away to disablehaving to press a hardbutton? it gets really annoying having to press ahardbutton every minute when the phone goes to sleep!
2. when the phone dims after 10 seconds is there a way to set it up so that your first press just undims the screen and doesnt actually press whats under neath it?
3. ive read all over google about the gesture feature, ive asked tmobile. and i cannot get my phone to do any gestures what so ever. ive download and installed the shake and wake and still nothing. i download a program called pocketshield and that completelly locked me out of phone becuase when i shook it it wouldnt turn on i had to take off battery wait a minute and then replace the battery then uninstall the app.
4.the media players.. ive tried coreplayer, windows media player, pocketplayer, the one that plays the most files is coreplayer.. ive noticed in fullscreen mode there are no buttons? everytime i tap the screen ti brings me back to portrait view... is there any recomendaions for a player similiar to core player that has controls on the big screen in landscape view? and that offers all the features coreplayer does? eq, visualizations, plays as many file types etc...
5. ive looked everywhere on how to change email icons the envelopes.. is there away to change those or do we just have to remember the order of the email icons?
thanks for any help or light you guys can shed! i really hope some of these issues can beresolved. i feel ive exhausted my xda, google searching, and phone settings searching.
1. It would consume lots of battery power to constantly monitor the touch screen. You can increase the amount of time before it goes to sleep.
ok i'll just have to deal with it an dwill raise the time.. ty for reply.. anyone else on the other questions please?
TY in advance
could anyone one confirm that the hd2 from the usa allows for shaking? ive rest phone and it doesnt work called tmobile and they have no clue! i'd liek to get me phone to be able to work with gestures.
Thanks
let me rephrase. does anyone know if the htc hd2 has... Windows Mobile phone with a tilt sensor / accelerometer/ g-sensor. or the ability to shake it and it will wake up?
thank you
It has an accelerometer, but there's NO shake to wake up.
Only way to wake up is to press a hard button.
5. if you mean the dirrerent e-mail accounts in sense, when you press on the "slider" that's on the active account and drag it, its expands to the left and shows the account name.
ok.. then what about the posts here about shaking it and tilting it? and what about pocketshield saying that you can shake it, and this link as well?

thanks for your reply!!!!. it's like pulling teeth in this forum very tough to get replies!
Apparently the shake to wake is a somewhat "experimental" add-on someone on here made and abandoned, works for some and not for others... nothing official, normal that tmo have no clue about it.
No idea about pocketshield, haven't read reports about that particular function on the HD2. Not very popular apparently, so you'll have to try yourself.
TMO support will help you about what was on your HD2 when you got it, nothing else that you'd install later.
thanx for reply.. well that pocketshield can be dangerous for some.luckily when ya replace battery it brings back the default slider. otherwise people would be locked out of there phones.
one last question and i promise to stay away for awhile.
how to u turn your backlight back on? example you have it set to dim after a minute. and your app. is there a way to undim the phone? instead of clicking on the screen or touching a button and it recognizing your touch and undimming it and selecting whatever you touched? i'd liek to be able to just touch something and it would undim and not select something underneath where i touched.
thanks
Not that I know of. It's been so with every touchsceen device I've ever had, need to either press a hardware key, which usually will do something too, or touch the screen and try to tap in an empty place.
Personally I don't use dim, I've set both dim and turn off to 1min.

That's because this is a developers' site, not a phone support forum.
Discussions are for developing programs, apps and other fun stuff.
If you want tech support there's many forums out there.
You should not be asking questions on here, about how to use your new T-Mobile HD2. I'm surprised your thread has not been locked.

Of course it won't turn on by shaking, phone must be ON for any gesture to be recognized. It is the hardware nature of these type of phones(you always need to press the hardkey, unless it is the phone turning on by itself).
Now, if you meant it didn't unlock when shaking after power on then maybe your g-sensor is not calibrated or you were doing the movement wrong. Take a look at minute 1:20, see how the movement is done:
