Text input program? - Wing, P4350 General

Greetings all!
I'm a new Wing user and I've come from using a Sidekick for several years.
The Sidekick had certain features on it that I dearly miss, and was wondering if there are programs that can help do the same functions that the Sidekick had.
It used to have an auto text feature where I could input text and when I'd type certain keys or letters it would autocomplete a phrase or text that I had assigned to that set of certain keys or letters.
Are there any other programs like that out there for pocket pc phones??

It's already built into the phone. Just try to type something and you'll see what I mean.

No...I meant, can I set it up that I can ADD words and phrases to its' already installed word database??
That's what I'm looking for.

It learns EVERY word that I write, whether spanish or english, whether spelled correctly, in short hard or mispelled... so yes, I think it does by default. Unless I'm just crazy...

I could be wrong, but im thinking hes askin if there is a way to store a set phrase like "I love you" or "are you coming over tonight". I know the text input is really good and auto memorizing words input, and I never really used the preset msg option on my old phones. Again I could be wrong, and I dont use or know of any program preinstalled or cab file.

I ran a google search and found this

qwerty keyboard in context

Hi
Just got a Dual 20 key, I noticed that sometimes you get a full qwerty touch keyboard (1 key per letter) say in contacts for narrowing the search, but when entering email etc you get the qwerty/20 key.
I see people recommending things like Pocket CM keyboard, but clearly the same capability is already built in, but cannot find a way to make the fully qwerty appear in text entry areas?
Any ideas?
+1
I'm interested in this too !
Same here in on the dual 16 key.
I want to use a software keyboard with Vito SMS chat because the hardware slide keypad wont work and the software touch pad wont work either.
The only way is the touch keyboard, but it shifts from the full qwerty to the 20 key, whilst the 20key also wont work with the ap :-( How do you shift from both?
+1... How to??

Large Text Scroller

This isn't anything revolutionary or remotely useful. But,... I haven't seen anything like it and I figured I'd share it. You never know when you might want to use it. I made it in flash and you type in your text, up to 15 characters then hit the button and there ya go. Scrolling. Large. Just copy the .exe to your device/card and run. It works good on Omap devices but better on 400mhz+ devices. I currently don't have a SmartPhone so if anyone could try it on smartphone and let me know if it works that would be great. I'm not sure if you can get into the text box without tapping it.

Not sure exactly what this is supposed to do? You're scrolling to search and find text you've just typed in or what? Can you attach some screenshots please?

You type in text then hit the button and that text will scroll across the whole screen infinitely. Borderline postworthy but I thought it might have it's uses and as I said I've never seen anything do that before. You don't see the screenshots?
You will not believe this, but I was just thinking about a software like this this morning. Back in my old Palm OS days, I had a marquee-style scrolling app that I would use to display a message from across the room. I was just wondering this morning if anyone had made such a thing for pocket pcs. Thanks. With text messaging, I may not have as much use for it now, but I will find a way to use it.
It works as promised, dunno what exactly I'll do with it, but I like it.
A few requests;
1) More characters
2) Landscape mode (wider viewing area)
3) Colors?
Thanks for the app

Show carret zoom bubble like IPhone

Hi,
Is there any app to show a zoom balloon whenever sliding over a text field to show us where the curret is, and allow us to move it correctly.
Just like the IPhone has it in its text editor????
Vito zoomboard is good for you but not free

I do not want it on the keyboard.
I want it on the text field so that it shows the CARET.
I'm confused.
You've called it carret, caret, and curret so far, and i don't know what any of them are.

A cursor, for the text. the " I " that's my french translation...
A finger friendly way to place the text cursor when writing a message.
I just use the hardware keypad.
You may want to change thread title. To something like: "[REQ]Finger friendly text cursor" - Might be a bit easier to understand.
All confusion aside, it's a good question. I wish something like this existed.
i have motorola defy, which has the same fitur like you told. but i just upgrade to MIUI rom, and the fitur wast lost.
i've been searching for so long to find the app, but couldnt find it.
Hello all! Is there ability to get an iOS-like text selection, positioning cursor and zoom balloon on a new Android devices? Maybe it's possible with a custom keyboard apps for Android?
I don't care so much about zoom balloon. But standard positioning of cursor in Android is so annoying on small screens

disable input method popup menu?

there is 1 thing that drives me MENTAL in winmo. you know...at the bottom there is the keyboard icon to hide or show the keyboard? yeah thats great, very useful, but if you touch 2 or 3 pixels to the right you get this:

"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
There must be a registry key to disable this menu? it drives me crazy, its so easy to accidentally tap it when going to hit the spacebar or the keyboard icon but takes almost 15 seconds to appear with no way of canceling it until it displays.
Very frustrating.
Hi Uppy,
This is driving me crazy too.Count me in for this crusade.
Can someone help us please???
Try this...
First find HEKY_CURRENT_USER\Controlpanel\Sip with a registry edting tool,
then create a new DWORD with the name TurnOffAutoDeploy,and set the value to 1.
Have fun with your T3333(Mega)!
Thanks dude, i tried it but no luck.
Searched but did not find anything on XDA....
However this is a site with many, many registry tweaks http://nowsci.com/registry-changer/..... check the section on "input method". Maybe disable sip input method will work....Have not tried them.....and be careful changing in particular HKCR registries can be "killing" for your device.....know from own experience

[Q] Cant change the default keyboard and story of swype

So i Flashed my xperia x10a yesterday to 2.1.... after that... I am not able to change the keyboard to android keyboard .. its stuck on default..
Can any one suggest what can I do ..
While at it, I am looking for swype too... i know that the beta program is closed, however, was wondering if i root my phone.. can i just borrow Swype apk from some one on the forum and use it ?
Possible alternative solution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848334
Two things I feel differently about.
Swipe and Handcent both seem to be "Everyone else is doing it,So I should to" kind of things.
Maybe I missed the boat but in the end I don't get it.
Either way, at least read the thread. You may like it.
Sausuge fingers UNITE
You mean if you long press in the typing field you don't get a dialogue to choose the input method?
It should be there. If you're still unsuccessful try repairing/reinstalling via SEUS or PC Companion.
As for Swype, we're not supposed to post the apk here for this reason, however if you search for swype apk online you can find several sources.
I use both Swype and Handcent SMS and I find them both better than the stock apps that came with the phone.
I prefer to see this than the stock SMS app:

As this is Android you can customize the phone to your heart's content. Download, try and uninstall if you don't like it!
